Flydra is trying to disarm the door 6/16 advances 0/3 minibosses defeated
The lock had been handled but there was still some kind of trap rigged to the door. Flydra frowned and looked it over. She could not allow anything to happen to Lorata because of a stupid door trap from sweeps ago. She reached down and began unscrewing and taking apart pieces of the machinery using the same kit she'd operated on Buffel with. It took a little time and a little consultation with Lorata's experience on these things before finally the group was able to safely open and pass through the door.
This is a mini-boss battle, the full rules and mechanics of which can be reviewed here.
The room beyond the door seems empty from the hallway, but stepping inside you are swiftly aware that you are not alone! For lurking in the corner is a dark groaning shape. As it turns towards you, you realize you are entering strife!

1 - Powering on the ship is easy enough, with the instructions from headquarters in your ear. The screens show that the ship is functioning perfectly, and headquarters patches in the control of a remote helmsman. They wait until you have returned to your boarding pod and leave, before steering the ship away.*
2 - Powering on the ship is easy enough, with the instructions from headquarters in your ear. As the screens boot up however, dozens of red warnings and errors flash across the screen. It seems like there has been critical damage to the ship in multiple places. Your team is instructed to leave the small black boxes containing deadly explosives in key positions on your return path to the exit.
3- The ship refuses to power on, even after you follow headquarters instructions to make sure they are plugged in, and hitting ctrl-alt-del. It looks like something core is not functioning. Your team is instructed to leave the small black boxes containing deadly explosives in key positions on your return path to the exit.
4- Powering on the ship is easy enough, with the instructions from headquarters in your ear. The screens show that the ship is functioning perfectly, and headquarters patches in the control of a remote helmsman. They wait until you have returned to your boarding pod and leave, before steering the boarding vessel away.*
If any troll in the party has helmsman authority, they can steer the ship to given coordinates, then return to the boarding vessel with the rest of the team.
Congratulations! You have completed your mission and returned back to the docking area! Squad commanders, be sure to report in!

"The control room, I hope!" Lorata said, stepping through the doorway to have a look around the darkened room. "Or something useful at least, I...What is that?" There a strange chittering sound and the quiet sound of feet. Too many feet. As the lot of them pulled free of the shadows and rushed towards her, she panicked. Instead of swinging out (and how would she hit them all even if she did), her free hand darted to the trinket at her side, pressing in to activate the shield just in time.

Flydra hurried into the room after Lorata and stopped dead in her tracks. No. NO. It was a swarm of putrid undead wriggling MONSTERS. She frantically started shooting at random, hitting a few of them while also running away towards a corner of the room. It was bringing back war flashbacks to a busy classroom full of desks and watchful eyes glaring at them. Instructors hiding cruel smirks behind their hand as the gerbils... the gerbils writhed and battled...
"NOOO! Stay back!" They were getting too close and surrounding her. It was madness and hate. Flydra yelled desperately, eyes wildly searching the room for yellow.
Boss HP: 22/30 6/16 advances 0/3 minibosses defeated
Buffel rushed in after her, hearing the screams and that familiar scuttling of tiny zombie feet. As he jumped in he saw the tiny beasts already upon Flydra and Lorata, both of whom were doing their best to pick 'em off. The Gunslinger leapt into battle, Readying his gun. Before even firing, he realized his gun was already jammed, the bullet never properly readying itself in the chamber. As he tore his eyes away from it, he caught a flash of the creatures before they were at his legs, climbing up his suit to claw him as he fell backwards.

The sound of her screams was all Scorpa needed to hear.
Roaring into battle, Scorpa swung her blade at the undead gerbils. These abominations would die for scaring Flydra like that. The yellowblood didn't fully understand what had happened in that fateful classroom with Lorata, the pair didn't like to talk about it. All she and Austri could do was try to piece it together. But she did know one thing, no one hurt her girls and got away with it.
"Die, zombils!" The warrior shouted as she rampaged the room.

Something inside the doctor snapped. Her eyes opened wide and she began shooting mercilessly, advancing on the swam of gerbils with murder glinting across her face. They were not going to die here. This was not how the Civisect Sirens were going to perish. She had too many things left on Alternia that she wanted to do. Grabbing a fistful of gerbils in her metallic hand, she started throwing them at the wall and punching them. It was part of trollkind's nature to solve problems through violence and she would do so as aggressively and ruthlessly as she could if it got rid of these pests.
"NO GERBILS." Her voice was ragged and tense as she scanned the room like a predator. Her eyes meet with Lorata's, pleading for her savior to end the suffering. Lorata was her angel, she would save them.

Flydra's rage kicked Lorata's own into gear. They had suffered through so much together, they couldn't possibly fail here! They'd sworn never to be bested by gerbils again! "DIE!" Full of righteous fury, she brought her partisan down on two before spinning neatly to strike another midair as it leapt towards her.
HP: 17 Lorata uses her leadership to heal the party! Everyone roll 1d6+2!
Apparently that had been the last of them. Lorata took the moment to catch her breath before checking on the others. Was Flydra alright? Scorpa? She relaxed a bit once she'd confirmed they were, and then finally remembered to make sure Buffel was alright as well. "That was good work, team, even though our enemy was so..." She let that trail off, eyes momentarily haunted. "We bested them. Just like we're going to best the rest of this ship!"

"Don't think about it, Lora." Flydra knew exactly what Lorata was thinking about. They didn't need to relieve that day ever again. She hoped they were done with gerbils for a while. Lorata's praise boosted her spirits though and Flydra shook off those bad feelings. They had a strong crew here and they'd take on whatever this ship could throw at them. Scorpa and Buffel were looking okay as well and they didn't need any emergency aid quite yet.

Buffel took a knee as he panted heavily. His helmet fogged against his breath as he wiped the last of the guts from his suit. He looked out at the Sirens, who didn't look too worse for wear. Still, it was nice to have the good doctor along for the more brutal scrapes such as this one. He'd checked himself for any injuries he didn't notice in the scuffle, but he seemed pretty good so far. Pulling himself to his feet using the laser gun for stability, he cleared his throat.
”Now I'm an animal lover'n all, but I think it's safe to say gerbils 're droppin' pretty quickly down the roster after today.”

Scorpa soaked up Lorata's attention and praise like a sponge. Beaming at her words, the wounds she'd suffered felt like they'd floated off her skin and disappeared. If Lorata believed in her, she could do anything. Flashing a smile at Flydra, Scorpa dusted herself off and prepared to get going once more.
"Shall we see how many more zombies we've to bash in?" Finally a joke not at Buffel's expense!
Once everyone looked ready to move on, Lorata led the way. She was getting to be kind of tired of these bigger vessels. So many corridors. So many zombies. She was ready to be done with this place and head home. There was a ridiculously comfortable chair waiting for her in her office...

"Scorpa, I want to do something fun after this." Flydra pouted as the four of them scanned the area for anything interesting. "Let's get Austri and read a magazine together in my room." They had a stockpile of those girlish magazines that detailed all kinds of fun things like starsigns, fashion trends, great places to buy cute swords, celebrity quizzes. You know, all that good stuff. Last month's issue of Hiveteen had been full of articles about how to use animal teeth to jazz up an old clutch purse. She'd also picked up the latest issue of Rogue to surprise Scorpa and Lorata with so there was that too.
"Oh, more zombies." She thought she heard some shuffling! Or was that just Buffel, dragging his feet because they'd given him so much crap over the busted finger guns?
The gunslinger followed behind, dragging his feet as he checked out the specs on the laser gun. To his eyes, it seemed to be of pretty good craftsmanship. The boy considered taking it home with him if he could fit it in the pod, maybe there was some more ammo to be found planetside. He'd really missed pulling an actual trigger on a gun as of late.
Hearing the shuffling ahead, he brought the gun up to his shoulder, aimed at the sound. ”Hope we don't have this don't back-fire on me too now!”
