"Thanks." Tevini murmured as Cerpin pulled her in for a hug. The redblood was proud she hadn't burst into tears that fight but still had been pretty shaken up. She squeezed him tight, wanting to physically feel him there. He was here and safe. She released him and watched him wander over to Etsali quietly yearning to do the same. The redblood refrained, however, wanting to not seem too clingy. She knew Etsali wouldn't mind because Etsali was wonderful and nice. Still, Tevini wanted to impress her and appear brave. Maybe then, Etsali would take her along on one of her heists! She was scared but also wanted to see the other part of Etsali's life.

When Etsali was truly alive.

Etsali didn't even get hurt in that fight but Cerpin is very inspiring

True to expectations, Etsali grinned right back at him and stepped in to throw herself onto the hug. She'd been startled by the shadow coming out of the room and stepped back, and then the creature had been taken care of before anyone had given her the space to get through the doorway. It was good to see they hadn't gotten too hurt as they'd been taking care of it.

Etsali decides this is the time for more scouting!

Once they'd finish their ridiculously refreshing group hug, Etsali stepped back, grinned at the three of them again, and gave a little wave. "You guys catch your breath. I'll go ahead and see what's up!" Maybe she'd find another interesting room like this one along the way? One could hope.

"The place is too quiet." Cerpin commented as they walked. They could hear the sound of their own footsteps and occasionally shuffling far away but the ship was mostly silent. It was a stark reminder that life had come to an abrupt end here and everything had shutdown. He was determined to make sure any ship of his never came to this same result.

"What's this?" As the four of them passed through another hallway, they spotted a door on the side. He looked at it with caution, unsure what might lurk behind it. The monsters weren't as terrible with Forera smashing through everything but he also had an unspoken fear that they might find things on these ships better left unseen. The logs were already proving that.

Speaking of which, they really needed to speak with Stryke or Byakko about all of this. Stealing a military ship or components from them had been the original goal but it was sounding more and more like a potential security risk if the crown could easily hack into the ships remotely and shutdown communication or falsify messages. Did that mean they could read everything on the airwaves too, included rogue communications?

Etsali checks for traps! it's only locked!

She hadn't found any promising doors down her hallway, but as she doubled back to rejoin the group, Cerpin found one down the other way. She hurried forward through the group with an eager curiosity. If it was open, easy looting. If it was locked, and she saw now that it was, she wanted to check it for any tricksy traps before someone triggered it. A moment later, she gave a thumbs up. "Give it another go, Tevini. Maybe we can open this one a little quieter." She sent an amused look in Forera's direction.

"Dammit!" Tevini growled as she failed the second lock they'd come across! Etsali was never going to take her along now! Trying not to sulk and failing, the redblood moved aside to let someone else deal with the door. Get it together Tevini! Letting out a breath, the mechanic tried to calm down and clear her head. She couldn't start doubting herself and psych herself out.

This is a mini-boss battle, the full rules and mechanics of which can be reviewed here.
The room beyond the door seems empty from the hallway, but stepping inside you are swiftly aware that you are not alone! For lurking in the corner is a dark groaning shape. As it turns towards you, you realize you are entering strife!

It seems like there has been critical damage to the ship in multiple places. Your team is instructed to leave the small black boxes containing deadly explosives in key positions on your return path to the exit.
3- The ship refuses to power on, even after you follow headquarters instructions to make sure they are plugged in, and hitting ctrl-alt-del. It looks like something core is not functioning. Your team is instructed to leave the small black boxes containing deadly explosives in key positions on your return path to the exit.
4- Powering on the ship is easy enough, with the instructions from headquarters in your ear. The screens show that the ship is functioning perfectly, and headquarters patches in the control of a remote helmsman. They wait until you have returned to your boarding pod and leave, before steering the boarding vessel away.*
If any troll in the party has helmsman authority, they can steer the ship to given coordinates, then return to the boarding vessel with the rest of the team.

Another one? Etsali grimaced, resisting the urge to step back and away from the now open doorway. Instead she nudged Tevini back a little further and reached for her kunai, unsure how much purchase she'd even be able to get on this...whatever it was. It looked ridiculously slimy and she didn't want to touch it all, but there wasn't much choice here except forward. It was clear this was an important room.

She didn't want to accidentally hit any of them, something that'd become extremely common at this point. She still wasn't used to her body being so large! It was an awkward feeling. She attempted a hit, but it wasn't too hard, so as to avoid hitting Etsali too hard. She gave the other a sheepish smile. "Ya might wanna step back."

Lessee whassup with the ship!"

This was it. They were in the control room! Cerpin lunged at the control panel and instantly powered on the ship per the instructions they received. His pulse was pounding frantically. This was the moment the rebellion needed. A real working ship! The screens began to glow and so did his eyes. Byakko was going to be so proud of them. Tevini would have something real to work with. They could make huge progress towards the base hidden on the pink moon in the sky.

ERROR WARNING flashed across the screen and the purpleblood swore angrily, slamming his fists on the panel.

They had worked so hard! Who knew if they would get another chance like this? He kicked at some of the chairs and equipment in the room, visibly distraught and rampaging. Sometimes it was hard to control those violent impulses.

Sometimes he just couldn't.
