User ImageName: Vennodren
Age: 28
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Homosexual
Weyr: Western
Rider Rank: Wingrider (Flame's Fury)
Previous Rank/Craft: N/A
Voice: [ X ] - Thomas Sanders
Song: High Hopes - Panic! At The Disco
Physical Description: Vennodren stands at a modest 5'11 and is lithe in build. He is fit but not overly muscled with the body type of a runner more than anything else. He has a rather impressive farmers tan and he thanks his ancestors for the tanning talent he possesses, much preferring to be two toned rather than sunburnt. His nose and cheeks have a light smattering of freckles thanks to the constant outdoor chores and activities, and his sandy blonde hair is fairly bleached by the sun most of the year. He wears it a bit long and usually in a low, short ponytail. He has hazel eyes and almost always has a bright, cheerful smile on his face.

Personality: If you're looking for a ray of sunshine on a dreary day, look no further than Vennodren. He's the kind to go out of his way to make someone smile and is always ready to crack a joke or cheer someone up. Despite his rather unfortunate luck where hatchings are concerned, Vennodren is always putting a bright spin on his twelve years as a Candidate. It bleeds over into other situations as well and Vennodren is always the one to put a positive spin on even the worst situations. He is a pacifist by nature, believing that the only reason for battle is when Thread falls. Words can solve problems just fine, thank you very much, and he is quick to forgive those that wrong him. Despite his kind and borderline doormat qualities, Vennodren knows what he wants out of life and doesn't stop at anything to get it. He has incredible focus and drive when he sets his mind to something and should anyone stand between him and what he wants...well...they might just get shoved out of the way!

Vennodren's trusting and 'everyone has good in them' mindset make him quite gullible. He is apt to believe anything he's told once, and sometimes even twice. He'll wise up if burned after interactions with less than savory characters, but it might take a few times before he remembers. He does have a bad memory when it comes to little details and will frequently walk into a room, forget what he was going to do, and have to retrace his steps before his memory is jogged. He's taken to writing on his hands and arms for important things that he needs to remember. Now that his age is starting to reach the end of the limit that the Western Weyr has set for Candidates, Vennodren has become much harder on himself in terms of what he is trying to achieve. He knows that a hatchling doesn't know how much work he's put in to getting a dragon of his own, that the selection process is purely based on who is his and who he belongs to in return, yet he can't help but feel that if he works a little harder, volunteers for the undesirable chores, stays up late studying, putting in the extra work that really doesn't matter to a dragon, he just might get picked the next time around. His parents are both successful in their careers, his brothers and sisters are as well...he can't fail now, he has nothing to fall back on!

Since Impressing, Venn no longer worries about aging out of finding his life-long partner and has focused his hard work ethic on making himself and Nzambith the very best pair they can be for their wing.

Positive: Optimistic, Benevolent, Driven.
Negative: Gullible, Forgetful, Holds himself to high (impossible?) standards.

History: Vennodren was born to two dragonriders past their prime into an already fairly large family. As the youngest of five by twelve years, Vennodren essentially grew up as an only child with all of his siblings already on their way or well on their way into their craft. None of them followed in their parents footsteps as far as dragonriding went, but Vennodren was drawn to the massive beasts from day one. He loved playing under the watchful gaze of his mother's green and his father's blue dragon and when he was stood on the Sands for the first time at the tender age of 14 he couldn't have been happier. It's been quite a long time since he began his journey and with each hatching his hopes are raised, then dashed as he is yet again ignored by the dragons. Surely there's one for him out there somewhere...right? He keeps his spirits high even though there's only four years left for his candidacy, hoping that his dragon will find him soon.

During a rather violent Hatching, Vennodren was chosen by his One, a glum green dragon by the name of Nzambith. He has a long road ahead of him now in training as a rider and can't think of anything he'd enjoy more in life than to become an irreplaceable part of a Wing.
Other: Ages up OOCly on October 10th

Name: Nzambith
Age: 2
Color: Green
Size: 50'
Voice: X - Searching for a voice
Song: Re: Your Brains - Jonathan Coulton
Physical Description: Nzambith is on the larger side of average for a green. Otherwise, she seems relatively perfect in proportion. Unlike Gallath, Nzambith doesn't seem to carry much extra weight; she might even be considered a bit underweight, but not unhealthily so. She is strong, with long fangs, and shorter head knobs.
Personality: Nzambith is a green who does things her way. Perhaps the first thing individuals notice about her is how easily she falls into the ranks. She isn't the sort of green who is looking to rise up, nor is she going to crow and caw at every going on in the Weyr; she is neither a gossip, nor a flirt, and for the most part just goes with the flow of everything around her.

Those who pay attention will find that this green is quietly dedicated to any task given her. If her leaders were to ask her to fly until she dropped, she would do so without complaint; if she were told to dig a hole until she struck buried gold, than she would do so without hesitation. It isn't that Nzambith doesn't think for herself -- she simply enjoys pleasing those by finishing tasks completely. There is no task too big for Nzambith, nor too impossible for her to achieve. It will be up to her rider to ensure that this hard-working green isn't taken advantage of by others, or tricked into impossible tasks. Thankfully, she will stop her task if given a new order, or her rider convinces her to let it go and to "try again later". Unfortunately for her rider, Nzambith is persistent; so she might very well try again, and again, and again, until she forgets about it, or manages to succeed!

Nzambith is loyal to her rider above all, but she is loyal to Weyr and Wing as well. She isn't the sort of green to turn on friends, or betray those who she gives her quiet heart to -- whether they know this or not. This green might be quiet, and seemingly slow, but she loves deeply.

Perhaps the dragon's biggest negative qualities have to be her insatiability. While this usually comes in the form of food, similar to her sister Gallath, this also can take shape in any passion she finds; she just isn't easily satisfied. No matter how she is spoiled, or how many treats given, or how much bathing and oiling and playing she gets, Nzambith can't help but want more. This can turn into dissatisfaction if she's not careful; her rider will need to set limits for the green to ensure she doesn't turn gluttenous. Distracting her from her current interest or desire seems to be the best way.

Furthermore, Nzambith can be a bit ponderous. She is not a bright and cheerful green; no, she tends to be a touch dreary, is rarely excitable, and might even be borderline depressive. She tends to be slow to speak, and when she does, it is often monotone, and with little inflection. This can cause her more excitable kin to find her tedious, but it doesn't get Nzambith down. She is happy to follow her friends quietly around and let them do the talking for her. At the end of the day, this green is just happy to be noticed at all.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Origin of Name: Nzambith gets her name from the etymology of the term, zombie. It all began back in 1819, when the poet Robert Southey, who wrote a history of Brazil, first used the term zombie in reference to a Afro-Brazilian rebel leader named Zumbi. The etymology of Zumbi's name, happens to be from the West African Kongo word "nzambi", which means "god".
Inspiration: Nzambith is based on the Zombie. There are many different legends, and mythologies, that involve zombies or other undead. Zombies originated in stories of Haitian and West African voodoo, where the spirits of the dead were brought back by some sort of sorcerer. Zombies are often portrayed as undead servants to said summoner, but in recent fiction, have also been portrayed as simply becoming infected by a virus or disease.
In some cases zombies are thought to be half-dead, mindless laborers and slaves, forced to do the bidding of their master. Other stories portray them as reanimated corpses that desire brains and flesh, which is a theme that has become quite popular in Western culture. Only recently have zombies been portrayed as quick, agile, and clever; or even having an ability to speak.
Zombies can have the ability to infect humans with a bite to transform them into a zombie. They are also thought to be stronger than mortal humans, and have an ability to survive even when their body rots, decays, or gets blown to pieces.
They aren't vulnerable to much, though head-shots seem to be the best way to kill them for good. In some mythologies, feeding them salt will have them return to their grave to sleep.
Personality: Nzambith is a green who does things her way. Perhaps the first thing individuals notice about her is how easily she falls into the ranks. She isn't the sort of green who is looking to rise up, nor is she going to crow and caw at every going on in the Weyr; she is neither a gossip, nor a flirt, and for the most part just goes with the flow of everything around her.
Positive Traits: Workhorse, Loyal, Persistent
Negative Traits: Insatiable, Follower, Ponderous
Adult Size: 25'
Age: 1
Physical Attributes: Nzambith is on the larger side of average for a green. Otherwise, she seems relatively perfect in proportion. Unlike Gallath, Nzambith doesn't seem to carry much extra weight; she might even be considered a bit underweight, but not unhealthily so. She is strong, with long fangs, and shorter head knobs.
Additional Notes: Nzambith does particularly favor eating the heads off her prey; while she'll eat the whole thing, the brains are her favorite part. When she flies, she will likely only do so once or twice a Turn, but it would take a special someone to keep her satisfied. More often than not, she finds the whole ordeal exhausting, and is usually (unsurprisingly enough) dissatisfied with the results.
She appreciates Gallath's taste in food, Fantoth and Hessianth's humor, and thinks Tinanath is simply fun to humor. Honestly, she can get along with any of her siblings on the best and worst of days if they can tolerate her.
Theme Song: Re: Your Brains - Jonathan Coulton
Why Me? Vennodren is a touch of warmth on a winter's day. Where Nzambith is glum, and dreary, Venn is positive and happy. They say opposites attract, and in this instance, it's true! This little green needed someone warm in her heart, and the cheery outlook of the man suits her just fine. While she might be down and depressive company to some of her clutchsibs, she is always in higher spirits after spending time with her rider.
His natural ambition and call of duty will match Nzambith's desire to work. Venn will be able to better focus the green on tasks that need to get accomplished, instead of her focusing all of her energy on the first thing someone asks of her. Together, the two will prove to be a hard working asset to any Wing in Western.
Venn will bring light to the little green's day, and help give her a greater purpose, while Nzambith will be the key to the weyrbred's man's dreams to be a rider. While they will both need to keep an eye out for one another so neither is taken advantage of, future Wingleader's would be a fool to dismiss them as simply another fighting pair. If Venn wants to reach for the stars and rise up in rank, you can bet Nzambith will pour her heart and soul into getting him there.
User ImageName: Aria
Age: Adult
Temperament: Constantly singing, joyful, flirty.
History: Vennodren was given Aria's egg by Amra as a combination 'thank you' and friendship present after they bonded during the Spooky Hatching while feeding their respective green babies. He was incredibly thankful for the present and still feels like he owes her something in return. When she hatched Aria came out trilling in the most melodic way that Venn knew he had to name her something musical. Now that she's grown she's turned into a little tease, chasing around male flits as if it were her job.
~~~~~~~~~~~

User ImageName: Diadem
Age: Newborn - May 21st
Temperament: Silly, energetic, independent.
History: Laid with her siblings in the middle of Vennodren and Ty'bar's bed, Diadem knew a loving family from the moment she was hatched. Diadem bonded instantly to Vennodren, much to his delight, and enjoys following her parents around when her bonded his busy. She loves hanging out with her green dragon 'siblings' as well even though they might consider her more of a pest than a good companion. Diadem's silly nature dominates her other traits at the moment and she loves playing little jokes on anyone and everyone that passes by.

~~~~~~~~~~~
User ImageName: Starscream
Age: Newborn - December 6
Temperament: ANGEE, SCREM
History: Yet another egg that Vennodren happened upon by chance, Starscream came into the world screeching as loud as her little lungs would let her. She hasn't really stopped since, filling the air with rather awful noises that are unfortunately quite loud. Rambunctious and energetic, Starscream is a whirlwind of chaos that is only mellowed by Jetstream's authority or a snack from Vennodren. She is very protective of her family and will fight like a wher when provoked.
~~~~~~~~~~~

User ImageName: Jetstream
Age: Adult
Temperament: Regal, spoiled, warm-hearted.
History: Vennodren came upon Jetstream's egg by pure chance. It seemed the Firelizard parents had buried the egg in the sand near his home in attempts to keep it warm, but he took it in to ensure it was properly hatched. When a golden head popped out of the rather ugly shell Venn was taken completely by surprise. The little queen made herself quite at home after Venn fed her and cleaned her up and, despite being the younger of his two four female Firelizards, she's quite clearly in charge. The green ladies happily bow to her every request and the four get along swimmingly. Despite Jetstream's spoiled nature she is very kind and ensures her sisters aren't left wanting.

Spooky Touching
Angel Egg
As if from a far distance, the hatchling within the egg surged up to meet Vennodren. Cheerful, delighted... not a threat. The dragonet regarded the hand that touch its egg, and decided that it was worthy of remaining. For the time being. Indeed, it was quite warm.

Hellhound Egg
It was being a very good egg. It had waited such a long time... and if it needed to, it would wait still longer. It wanted to keep its siblings safe, but it also wanted to meet the Candidates. Torn, the egg was somewhat overeager when Venn touched it.

Werewolf Egg
Hello to you too!! Wow! So many people, so many hands, this is just brilliant as far as the Werewolf is concerned! This egg is still full of excitement and pleasure, and it would wrap around Venn like a warm blanket. It is the most exciting! Be excited!! EXCITE!!!!!!!! It was almost a command, as the egg continued its excited twitching.

Mummy Egg
The egg would seem to give a shuddering, almost pained sigh. Oh, how cute the little happy-go-lucky Candidate is. It'll be over quicker the sooner you move on. Shoo, and take the unworthy ones with you!

Vampire Egg
Was it indeed like unto its mother? Mother was very, very large, and moreover was to be obeyed. It liked the idea of being obeyed in a similar manner. How very appropriate.

Hunter Egg
The egg would give Vennodren a long look, before deciding that the other had passed its test. Yes, there is hope that it might calm itself, though The Hunter does wish it could protect the other from such pain. And maybe, just maybe, it would share its concerns with the other Candidate -- a small brush of worry, but shrouded in strength all the same. All would be well soon.

Hunter Egg
No. It must be strong. It would worry, but it would carry its worries alone. All would be well, and when the Hunter could, it would ensure safety and security for its clutchsibs, no matter the price. What did Vennodren want to protect? What did Vennodren fear or worry about most?

Hunter Egg
The egg seems to approve of all these things, and sends a wave of understanding and encouragement. All one can do is their best, and that is all that is required of life. Stay strong, stay the course, and be vigilant. Even the smallest of things can be a hero -- Vennodren is more than he realizes, or so the egg believes.

Hunter Egg
It would send Venn one last burst of encouragement before quieting down.

Spooky Impression
The Zombie
This egg shattered completely at the Banshee's wail, revealing an upside down green rolled up tight. Losing the protection of the shell, the poor thing fell to her side with a loud plop. She wasn't in any rush to get to her feet there, and just lay in a heap in the sand and shell remains.

The Zombie
The green finally heaved a shudder sigh and. . . rolled over. Yep. That was all it had in her today.

The Mauve Blue
Stop! Cease! Desist! The blue would continue to try to will its wild sisters into place, but without much luck. Still, he hurried through. He spotted something interesting, and walked up to where The Zombie, The Wraith, and Farensil were standing. WAKE UP! LIVE! MOVE! He spread his wings and gave a loud honk. MOVE!! He tried to will Farensil too. BE GONE! GO! Look at his awesome power and influence.

The Zombie
Meh.

Vennodren
Kiri’s optimism only lasted for so long. Another dragon, a green this time, went on a rampage and Venn could only stand by and watch. It happened so quickly he didn’t quite realize what exactly had occurred for a few moments before it hit him. A Candidate had died. Killed by a dragon.

He had no words. There was nothing but shock and sadness and pain. Although he didn’t know every Candidate well, he had been here for so long that he knew most of those here at least in passing. To see one perish before him hit him hard and it was all he could do to remain on his feet.

Tears formed in Venn’s eyes as he lifted both hands to his face, hiding his expression from the Sands and those there. His shoulders shook slightly as he allowed himself a moment of grief, ignoring everything for a minute or two. This Hatching was brutal and vicious and nothing like the ones he had seen before.

“Please let this end soon,” he said weakly, his voice trembling slightly.

Nzambith
The green dragon finally stirred, and slowly, steadily, made it to her feet. The chaos that Suwayeth had left behind hadn't bothered her, but something else now did. Something that was worth more to her than comfort. Slowly but surely, the green dragon crawled her way toward her intended.

Inch by inch, the green crawled forward. The closer she got, the more energetic she became; it wasn't a quick pace, but she managed to actually turn her crawl into a walk, and her walk into a slow, purposeful trot. She ignored all but Hers.

The feelings....
The hurt, the pain. It was too much for the green.

With a low creel and a heavy sigh, she fell against hers. Her wings did not drape around Vennodren as much as they collapsed next to him. She did not really care if he fell over or not, since he had hidden his face in grief. The girl he stood next to was ignored.

Still, the green's eyes whirled rainbow, tinged with white in fear. Then let's let it end, Vennodrenmine. Life's too hard, and death is easy. If you go, I'll go. Unless you'd rather stay. You tell your Nzambith what you'd prefer, and I'll follow wherever you go.

Vennodren and Nzambith
Oh, but it was awful. Venn no longer cared if he Impressed or not, he just wanted to get out of this alive. So far the dragons had spared him but he knew that could change at any moment. He just wished for the rest to Impress so they could all leave and no one else would be hurt or killed.

He was so caught up in his emotions and trying to keep at least somewhat in control of them that he didn't notice the slow, methodical gait of the green dragon approaching him until it was far too late. A heavy weight flopped against his legs and he gave a jump and a little shout of surprise, thinking he was being attacked. But almost simultaneously a voice echoed in his head, somber and a touch morbid.

Then let's let it end, Vennodrenmine. Life's too hard, and death is easy. If you go, I'll go. Unless you'd rather stay. You tell your Nzambith what you'd prefer, and I'll follow wherever you go.

Venn looked down at the dragon that had slumped against him, her rainbow eyes locking with his own as he felt a sense of completion, of being whole, of....of rightness filling him up, pushing out the sorrow and fear for a moment. He was frozen to the spot and the little dragon didn't seem to mind his silence as he struggled to find words.

Finally Venn simply crouched down, wrapping his arms around the little green. Tears were once again in his eyes, but this time they were for his relief and joy. She had found him. After all these years he had his One.

"O-oh...no, Nzambith, there's been enough death and pain for one day," he said weakly, sniffling softly as the green lifted her head to observe her rider curiously. She didn't say anything as she studied him, eyes whirling from yellow to blue and back so quickly that they looked green at times. Finally after a bit of thinking she pushed her head against Venn's chest, urging him to rise.

Then, if we are to stay, let us get something to eat. I am hungry. She waited for a moment to see if Venn would agree and the young man rose with a nod, his hand on his dragon's head to guide her.

"Yes, of course! Of course..." He was glad she was there to distract him. He had a partner to care for now, to feed and oil and clean and teach and love. He glanced up and made sure the way to the exit was clear before heading across the Sands, Nzambith by his side.
