She laughed and said "Prognosticator, maybe. I had not even realized I found him attractive in THAT way at that point." Her face fell a little at the comment about Atlantis, and she said, sounding like she did not want to think about this issue at ALL, "Yes, that would be the one..." She still did not like thinking about the thought that her friend had almost died, and it upset her to no end. She was lining up her next swing when his charge went off, and hit her, HARD, causing her to stagger back with a bit of a gasp. She was not even able to get her attack off, really, and she just took a few slow breaths. HP: 10/40 Damage: 0 Charge: 3/3

He didn't even know what the word prognosticator meant, but he went with it anyway. "Fine, I'm a mother ******** psychic," Nash said, grinning as he staggered back, heaving a breath. He was starting to feel the strain of fighting as much as they had, of Seren's admittedly hard hits, every part of him aching the way it did when one had a hard workout.
He dragged the whip back towards himself, feeling pretty damn satisfied.
"I don't know everyone on the island yet, but since I'm a ********' psychic, maybe I should play matchmaker now," he said cheerily, and swung the whip out again.

She laughed again, still working on catching her breath. "Psychic works. It's a good word for it." She began to move towards him, getting Di back up into position, her eyes on her spar partner. "Oh man, an Island Matchmaker, this should be good. Think you can help Oliver find a date? He's such a sweetie, and he deserves a good'un." She said, an amused grin on her face at the idea. It wasn't like she wasn't thinking it herself, in the end. Then his next hit connected, and she got knocked back with a 'OOF', but managed to use the momentum of the way it knocked her to come back in with a swing, fast and hard. He had not been expecting that last hit.
It caught him off guard, Nash staggering before he could answer Seren, the sword slamming into him with all the force of a speeding train. He let out a wordless gasp of mingled pain and surprise, tilted sideways, and the whip dissipated in a gust of green and black wind as he collapsed onto the ground.
He wasn't really unconscious, but everything hurt like the ******** devil. He was also pretty sure he'd broken something, but Acheri was reassuring him that he had, in fact, not, even though everything definitely hurt all over like he had actually been hit by a train.
Above him, there was the muffled, distant sound of footsteps, and then the end of something pointed prodded Nash in the side.
"Is he dead?" came a disembodied, familiar voice.
The tall, lanky form of October Flynn could be found leaning over his younger brother, the tip of an umbrella poking at him as he debated whether or not he was going to have to start paying for funerals or something. October's blue eyed gaze flickered over towards Seren, face as calm and somber as ever.
"If he's dead, we'll have to carry him back," October said despondently, which sounded like an awful lot like effort.

Seren unsummoned Diwata the moment he gasped and went down, and darted towards him, eyes full of concern. She looked up in surprise when she heard October, and shook her head. "No, no of course not... I mean, that's why we have the wards, right?" She knelt besides Nash, quietly, and said "But is he ok? I didn't mean for that last hit to be so hard." She was silent for a long moment, and added "I have the worst luck at last hits, they always seem to be harder then I intend..." Her voice was a little plaintive, but the kind that came from worry and concern, and self blame. "I need to learn how to prevent that, somehow." She studied Nash, and said "I will help, if he needs to be carried... Nash, I hope we don't need to carry you, dude... I'm sorry it hit that hard..."

October had merely been passing through and had watched the tail end of the battle for the last five minutes before the final, overwhelming blow. He prodded at November again with the end of his umbrella, which seemed strangely incongruous, considering the blindingly sunny skies.
"Don't worry," October said somberly to Seren. "He'll be fine. He's been hit ******** off," came November's disgruntled voice from below. He rolled onto his back and rubbed at his face, looking more than a little worse for the wear, tired and bruised. "October, not you," came the clarification a second later. One of November's arms was thrown over his face to cover his eyes.
"I'll be fine. Just need a minute."
"Or several," added October, to which he received a middle finger in response.

"If you're sure, then..." She said to October, then sort of leaned back in surprise when Nash said to ******** off, looking initially a little hurt, because she had not MEANT IT, but then when he clarified, her expression relaxed back into mere concern. She looked him over, eyes taking in the details, and said "Once again, I find myself thinking that it would be nice if we had a bath house on this island, because I bet a nice hot bath would be good..." She arched a brow at the interchange between the brothers, amused, and said "I'm glad you're ok. Wouldn't want to, like, permanently damage anyone." There was a thoughtful pause, and then in she corrected "Well, no one here, anyways."

There was a long silence in which both brothers said nothing and October gave Seren a squinty eyed look as though he couldn't quite figure out what she was trying to say. Nash kept his arm over his eyes, the sun bearing down on them.
Eventually, he said, "Uh. I mean I'm down for a bathhouse too, but I'm pretty sure you didn't mean the same kind that I'm thinking of."
October added, "Yes, as you can see, he's fine."

Seren looked at October in confusion, not sure why he was squinting at her, because as far as she was concerned, what she had said made perfect sense, so she tried to communicate her lack of understanding with her confused expression and a questioning brow tilt. Then Nash spoke, and she looked back down at him, chuckling softly. "I mean, no that's not what I had in mind? I was talking a little more literally, cause there's nothin' like a hot bath to soothe away aching muscles. Maybe if I hadn't met Rhys, I'd be down for that other interpretation, but... I've gone the 'committed' route, so that's out for me these days." She glanced at October, and gave him a wry smile. "Good. That's what matters in the end."

"Not so sure you'd be down for the actual interpretation of it, either, anyway, since bathhouses are for dudes," said November, still on the ground, still with his arm over his eyes. October prodded him with his umbrella again just for good measure, but he was relatively sure that November was going to stay there for the next long while. "For dudes who like dudes and wanna get down and dirty. Not that I've got experience in that or whatever."
He had not gone any committed route himself, clearly.
"I mean, unless Rhys is into that - " He started to say before October whacked him in the side with his umbrella before turning to Seren again.
"Sorry about him. He's a little..." He made a circling gesture beside his head. November smacked his ankle.

She considered how to respond, then said, finally, "I've heard about... other sorts of bathhouses, to be honest. Managed to... avoid getting recruited for one of the less savory, shall we say, in the one week I spent in San Francisco." She paused, and added, dourly, "The dickheads were pretty pushy, too. But anyways. It just depends on what you're looking for, I think." She watched the brothers, and gave October an amused gaze. "It's ok. I'm not offended, nor bothered. Different strokes for different folks and all that. I'm pretty open minded, so long's no one is getting hurt by it, and I don't count consensual BDSM as getting hurt." She then glanced down at November, and shook her head. "If there's a chart for 'straight to gay' that covered the whole rainbow in between, I'm pretty sure he'd fall all the way on the straight side. Not really where I thought I'd go with my life, but eh." She gave a shrug. "I'm happy so what the ******** ever, right?"

"Bathhouses for gay men existed back in the fifteenth century," said October. "A good portion of it stemmed from ancient Greece; since if they were caught having sex with other men they would be arrested, most of them found other places to meet up, and bathhouses were the most well known. They also have a basis in Italy, as well as New York and Chicago and a few other major cities, though the modern day ones are a tribute to the past."
He said all of this with a completely straight and serious face. Nash, who was used to October spouting off random knowledge, didn't seem fazed by this unexpected flow of information, and said, still without lifting his arm from his eyes, "I don't like labels anyway. Putting people in boxes is shitty."
"Consent is important, though," said October, with a sage nod."

"Hey. Whatever works. It's a pity it was needed, but stifling levels of toxic My Way Or The High Way-ness have been a problem for millennia, far as I can tell." She sighed and shrugged, then blinked down at Nash curiously for a moment, then said "Can't argue with you there. Boxes are confining, nasty places to be." She clearly didn't care about the random knowledge either, but for her, it was more along the lines of 'the more she learned, the better understanding of the world she had.' "Oh lord. Consent is the most important. No consent, no play, all foul." She looked down at Nash again, then added "You feelin' better, or you gonna need a hand up?"

He didn't like boxes, or labels, or anything that forced him into being anything he wasn't - or didn't want to define. Even just thinking about it made his skin crawl, made his chest feel tight with a nameless irritation he couldn't quite manage to tamper completely, although the arm over his face hid his expression from view.
But there was one person - a singular person - who knew him. Who knew who he was and what he was and the lack of needing to explain himself was everything that was worthwhile on this place, this island where he had made his home.
"Might need a hand," said Nash, after a moment. October's response was to nudge him with the umbrella again.

She was watching both of the brothers, thoughtfully, amused by the way they interacted. She did not see them together too often, but she knew October could be protective of Nash... She remembered his reactions at the Halloween party... She wondered if the reverse was true. She also had a moment where a shadow crossed her face, as she thought about the issues of siblings here, again, and worried, for a moment. Then she shoved the worry away, because she was not going to let that ruin her mood, or her day. She forced herself to think about the good things in her life, so that a smile came back to her. She considered Nash's words, then stood and offered her hand to the man on the grass. "Here. Once you're up, though, you can manage, yeah or...?"
