"If he decides to start...not dating, or whatever he's calling it, I'll consider the offer." Roswell immediately started to help Fred hang his clothes the moment the door was unlocked, handling them with care. "You just want access to my closet. I'll show you the room. I already got out the bloodstains, but there's no telling what century they were from."

Fred appreciated the help, wanting to get the clothes hung up to avoid any more creases than had already been inflicted on them.

"You are giving this a*****e way too many chances you know, but it's your life." he shrugged, Tom would see the error of his ways eventually and he wasn't about to get preachy about it. "My door's always open and it always has been."

He took out a pair of expensive looking shoes and hung them on the fabric shoe rack he'd brought with him.

"And you ******** say that like you wouldn't like to get into my clothes too. You are probably ******** gasping for some colour variation over here. I don't think I brought enough winter wear for all this ******** rain though to switch it up enough." he sighed. "Slumming it for a bit I guess."

He raised a brow. "Bloodstains. Ooh grisly."

The shoes were, admittedly, amazing. And of course, Roswell knew they would fit both of them perfectly.

But Fred was Fred. They'd just fought. They were both in a good mood, and down right congenial. But that could never be relied upon to last.

"You can't imagine. The higher-ranked types have private bathrooms. There's also a housing scheme, on a more dangerous part of the island."

He sorted another hat box.

"I don't know what to do, Fred. They haven't paid me in months. I'm not allowed off the island. Lysander's in the same boat. They'll probably dock yours for associating with me on any level."

"Of course the higher up guys have that, I bet some of them have pools, always how it is isn't it? Seems like they want the lower ranks to live in shitty places to learn their place. Bit like how they do it in the army, though in the army we'd all have bunks, so this isn't too bad, you get your own space, no cellmate either."

He didn't comment on how stupid he thought it was that there was a housing scheme on the island, lots of things defied logic here.

Fred checked his most precious hat was all fine and well, turning it this way and that but not putting it on because of his wet hair. He was tempted to get changed, but if they were going down to the basement he might as well hold off.

"I don't ******** care." he said. "If they want to dock me for having to do with my own ******** flesh and blood who I haven't seen in ages they are welcome to do it. I'll work hard anyway." Lysander could sink or swim on his own merits, it wasn't his problem. "Why won't they pay you anyway? Did you kill someone?"

"I don't know their stance on violence, but seeing as how they encourage it regularly, I can't see it being very strict. Lysander expressed the desire to leave, and brought it up with the man in charge of his division. That man...opened, I don't know what to call it, I think they use the term portal, and told him he was free to go. He stepped through it. I advised against it, but followed after him. He left us in the Amazon, Fred. After surviving that little ordeal, they've withheld our pay indefinitely."

A portal to the amazon. He didn't even comment on how completely insane that was because it seemed like in recent months someone had bent Roswell into simply taking the crazy for granted.

"They sound like some interesting leaders." he said. "But it was a bit ******** mental to just walk into like, a portal thing." He gave the other man a critical look.

"Have you just been making it policy to take wild ******** risks all the time now? Because uh, that was always my job and I don't appreciate you muscling in on it mate."

"It was both our jobs," Roswell said, and voice rising a pitch, "Was I supposed to let Lysander go alone? To die? I'd never do that. He wouldn't have let this happen to us in the first place, if he'd taken any of it seriously. And everything recently..." Roswell rubbed his face. "I don't know what he's thinking."
PostPosted: Sun Sep 03, 2017 8:38 am

Fred shrugged his shoulders. "Look far be it from me to condemn your ******** rollercoaster life of crazy bullshit. I was never cut out to be the voice of reason in someone's life, specially not yours. I'm just saying that if I go wow that's completely wild then maybe it is completely wild."

He didn't look like he entirely agreed with the idea that Lysander wouldn't do crazy s**t if he took things seriously but he wasn't about to argue, he didn't know the guy well enough really.

"I think what he's thinking is probably just a lot of the same things entitled rich kids everywhere think on repeat. I think you are just something taken for granted. Like daddy's chequebook and fast cars."

"No! It's more important than that, I know...how much we value each other. Everything was simple before we came here." Roswell finished unpacking Fred's things, and headed towards the door so that Fred could see the rest of the amenities, and the basement.

"It's my fault. I told him...how I felt about him. In front of everyone. So now he's got to prove that it doesn't mean anything. I wouldn't have said it, but it's like I told you, I was magically coerced. He knew, I'm sure, but saying it's a different matter, and I don't know if I can handle him proving otherwise. It was fine when we just didn't talk about it either way."

Fred was pretty flippant about most things, generally things didn't bother him, even things which by all rights really should have. He kept the world at an easy arms length and emotional outbursts were usually treated like it would be nice if they would just stop. Tom was different and always had been, his concerns were his own, and even if they argued about almost everything, the concern he felt had never diminished for his sibling.

"Sounds really ******** complicated." he said. "You told him how you felt and he didn't want to hear it, now he's ******** with you to prove he doesn't feel the same way?" He made a face, it didn't sound like the guy was at all fit to have Tom's time of day, but he knew the more you told people their choice of partners were bad people the more they just shut down.

"I guess neither of you were ready to talk about it, and now he's trying to bail. Loads of guys are scared shitless of commitment, some women too." A high proportion of women he'd personally dated hadn't been into it, almost one hundred percent in fact. "Like, you are entitled to your s**t and I believe you when you say like, you value him and whatever. But he sounds like a massive ******** jerk."
