Rhys got more comfortable than he probably should have at what was a very serious meeting and was almost lounging back against the couch as the discussion really started.
"Showing up empty-handed feels like a waste of time to me. If they won't deal and get all pissy then we might get all kinds of ******** up just tryin' to get out. I mean I'll still go, but an exit strategy might be somethin' to think about since we don't know how just talkin' is actually gonna play out."

"It seems like it would be worthwhile to try negotiation," Jordan said. "Since we're planning to get the artifact back, we're on Atlantis's side for this conflict, nominally at least. It seems logical that it might allow us a chance to fix the problem."

"Straight forward's best option, but are we sure we can't, like, offer something in the meantime? Even if it's one of our own runic techs man lang? Kind of like a bonus gift. It's not like we're asking the AI to consider the offer as a replacement." Maybe Joy just wanted to give the AI the benefit of the doubt.
"Or hell, if anyone's willing, whoever goes to negotiate with the AI can offer themselves as hostage. Dunno if it's an equivalent exchange but hey, it might make our intentions more serious?"

He had been listening, mostly, but he still didn't have much of an idea of what was going on and green eyes were flicking back and forth between the gathered as they talked. Nearby a pair of legs covered in galaxy print wandered close and he reached, tugging on the fabric, and looked up.
"You got any idea what they're talking about?" He asked, glancing up over the rim of his glasses when his chin tipped up.

The tug on her leggings had the Mist trainee glancing down at the red headed trainee with the glasses, and she lofted a brow at him before his question had her glancing back at the group thoughtfully. "Something about a stolen item from , uh...Atlantis." She sounded initially skeptical as the name passed her lips, but it faded out as her lips closed again. There were water golems climbing out of the sea to attack them. Seemed legit? Still looking thoughtful, she shifted so she could take a seat beside the other trainee, arms folding. "And they're trying to figure out what to do about it." That part, at least, she was sure about.

"From what I've seen, Atlantis has technology surpassing our own, so whatever we offer would probably be seen as primitive in comparison. Also, it is controlled by a A.I. system. They wouldn't want much aside from the artifact. I would also not like this to escalate to a hostage situation. I want to avoid as many casualties and prisoners as possible. It seems it might be best to get the artifact first and present it to them, but if we want to split our options, we can have a small party go to Atlantis while the rest goes to the island to retrieve the artifact that was taken. If we don't find it or do find it, we can communicate back and forth. That would however split up our attack force and leave us more vulnerable without as many people together to fight."
He debated these options for a moment.
"Should we have a vote? Option ONe. We split up into two teams to go to Atlantis and to the island. Option Two, we all go to the island first to look for the artifact then Atlantis. Option Three, we all head straight to Atlantis to negotiate first. Three options. What sounds best to everyone?" He didn't want to voice what he thought was best until everyone else voted, not wanting to sway their opinions.
"Let's show a raise of hands with your fingers stating which one you want."VOTING TIME Asking for Votes - please post your vote in quotes. gaia_star Option 1.) Split into 2 parties. Party 1 goes to Atlantis to negotiate while Party 2 looks for the artifact on the Creation Tree island. gaia_star Option 2.) Everyone goes together goes to the Creation tree island, looks for the artifact, and then goes to Atlantis if it's found. gaia_star Option 3.) Everyone goes together to Atlantis to talk and see if it is Atlantis and if they will make a deal.

Seren sighed, not having gotten an answer to her question, but listened to what Melvin was saying. After a long minute of serious contemplation, she made a decision as to what her vote would be. It was, in her mind, the only real option. At least, the only one where she might have a chance of helping.
Seren raised her hand, with two fingers up.

"I don't like the idea of a hostage. We don't know how survivable it is down there when nobody's actively fueling it, and I'm betting there's no food available," Jordan said. "And we don't have a good estimate on how long it would be. I think the idea of a tech exchange isn't a bad one, though."When Melvin asked for a vote, he lifted his hand with three fingers up, after a moment's consideration.

There was a stolen item from...Atlantis.
Atlantis as in that fake mythological city underwater.
"Atlantis." The name of the place was all the redhead could muster as he blinked trying to process it. In truth, Zane wasn't sure why he was surprised because hello he was a hunter with a weapon that used to be a monster who fought monsters to keep the world safe.
Magic and monsters was real so why wouldn't Atlantis?
"Huh," he said finally. Taking a moment he let his gaze drift across his new companion as she settled beside him. His gaze flicked back over to the dude who called the meeting and he tried to pay attention.
Three options were presented and he made a humming noise. "Whaddya think? Visit Atlantis or go looking for the missing thing first?"

Rhys gave it some thought, glancing over at Seren when she took her vote before refocusing so he could make a choice for himself. Splitting didn't seem like a good idea, and since the idea of going down there empty-handed didn't seem like the greatest idea to him in the first place he went ahead and raised a hand with two fingers up.

Joy didn't think too long or hard on her choice. She was still sticking to her suggestion and raised one finger.
((voting option 1))
-----
Terry didn't want to look at Melvin too long but the fact that the man was hosting this discussion meant he had no choice. When it came to voting, he raised two fingers because he would really rather not deal with those creepy mermaids especially if they were extra hostile.
((voting option 2))

Delegation wasn't Cee's strong point. She'd much rather have leverage, or at least the artifact to give back if they were going to go to Atlantis.. ..which was nuts by the way. Cee held up two fingers and pursed her lips. It wasn't like they still couldn't go to Atlantis after looking for the thing anyway.. Better to try and have something to offer than go empty handed.

"Since we don't even know if we'll be able to get the damn artifact back, It seems like at least making an attempt at peace would be the best bet." Just because they went to the island with the tree on it, assuming they could get to it in this weather, with the ocean literally turned against them, there was absolutely no guarantee that they'll be able to find what was left there. He raised his hand to hold up three fingers before glance around towards where Ever was standing against the wall, curious. Honestly, none of those options sounded all that safe, but she supposed, considering their situation, safe was too much to ask for. She glanced at Zane at his question, her lips twitching to one side thoughtfully as she considered the three choices presented to them. "Well, you can't finish the quest without the item that's missing, right?" She held up two fingers.

Cee's hugs and smooches aside, Oliver was better able to focus on the discussion as the little meeting went on. It sounded like the missing artifact was at the source of this problem, and he didn't like the idea of confronting a technologically advanced AI without securing this object first. Nor did he like the idea of an artifact just being relegated to a state of 'lost'. And unless the higher ups were planning on funnelling a great deal of manpower into this mission, splitting up didn't sound like a great idea either. Perhaps there were no good answers at all in this situation. After staying silent for so long, he raised two fingers. "Even if we find some way to bargain with Atlantis and resolve the situation without it, an object important enough to warrant this sort of retaliation shouldn't be left unaccounted for," He added quietly.

Across the room from Zeke, Ever shrugged almost apologetically. He didn't have much to say, but he had rather decisively held up two fingers as his vote for this thing. Maybe it was just because there was no chance in hell he wanted to go diving, even now. Or maybe it had more to do with their chances should they show up at Atlantis's door empty-handed.
