He didn't pull away and while his grip loosened in response to Jordan's movement, he didn't drop his arms either. "Didn't like this shirt anyways." He muttered.
As he breathed slowly, he asked. "Promise me that if you think about killing yourself or giving up, to come see me. Please."

"I can promise that. I don't think it'll get that bad, but if it does, I'll come see you." Jordan nodded slightly. He was pretty sure he was past that point, but if he got that way again, it would help to have someone he could go to. He hesitated a moment, then added, "You too. This goes both ways."

He nodded. "I hope I don't ever have to think like that again but I'll see you if anything brings me there." He didn't want to think that he could get back to a place that dark but you didn't think you could get that far until you found yourself chest deep in water wondering how many runic stones could keep you under.
"What do you want Jordan. In life....what do you wish for for yourself?"

It was a slightly guilty relief to learn that Melvin had been there too, that Jordan wasn't alone even in having been to that dark place. He wondered when, and why, but didn't ask. It wasn't something he liked to dwell on, and Melvin probably didn't, either.
"By way of personal goals?" He thought about it briefly. "I guess mostly I want to help people. Maybe get more involved with training the hatchlings. I came here first thinking that I'd help people, you know?"

"What do you want for yourself out of life and love? Out of the people you care about? About what the future could give you if you could ask for anything?" He added, closing his eyes as he listened.

"I want for the people I care about to be safe and happy." That part came easy. The rest of it was harder. "I want ... to have someone who will stay with me. I'm tired of being alone. I haven't thought about it a lot," he admitted, low-voiced. "Haven't let myself."

"I want that for you too." And he gave another squeeze to his hug o emphasize his point. "Whoever that is, I want you to be happy with them and for you not to have to go through this again. If there is anything I can do to help, I will."
He kept hugging him not caring about how long it was going for. Jordan didn't tell him to stop and in the quiet privacy of Jordan's dorm, there was no judgement to be had.
However, even he had to admit that Jordan might be doing the thing where he wanted someone to be happy even if he was uncomfortable himself. "Sorry I just...haven't had a chance to hug anyone in a long time."

Whoever that is. A complex tangle of feelings accompanied the words. Jordan closed his eyes and said only, "Thank you," deeply tired, flinching mentally away from the work of unwinding that tangle and figuring it out. Ferros rumbled softly and shared a soothing swell of affection. They would face it, but not right this instant.
"I haven't either," he admitted. "I think I needed it."

Slowly and very reluctantly, Melvin pulled out from the hug and, since they were taking liberties, ruffled Jordan's hair just slightly.
"Well if you ever need another hug I won't be opposed. I don't ger them too often and it's ... Helping me on some things." He removed his hand and stared at it a moment before dropping it to his side, fingers curling slightly. Not having his gloves on felt alien to him.
"Hey. I'm gonna watch some movies this Friday so... If you're bored or not working you are free to come by my dorm. Finally got the wall and window fixed so no leaks."

Jordan's mouth twitched into a smile at the hair ruffling. "Okay," he said, and, "I'll drop by, then. I have some free time. About what time?"

"At 7. Going to have popcorn." He said, smiling thay Jordan might swing by.
"Just text me if and when you come buy. I sometimes have music on pretty loudly." He said as he moved to the door. "See ya then."
