"Ivy," Al answered of the green tattoo that barely poked above the rim of his boxers and started along the curve of his lower abs before disappearing beneath the fabric.
"He has a crow," Al wasn't ashamed of their tattoos at all. Rather quite fond of them. Noah's at least was much easier to indicate as it is splashed across his shoulder and very apparent lately.

The waves lapped on the shore and the sun shown brightly above through the palm trees. It was easy just to let your mind go blank here.

"It suits us though. My real name is Corbin, it means crow and I kind of look like one." He laughed a bit louder than intended then cleared his throat. "And Noah is enamored with plants. And... I never really told you before how much it means to him to have the access to the green house that you've given him. I'm extremely grateful even if it pulls his attention off me from time to time." He winked at Melvin. "I'm hoping some day I'll get to see it but we don't want to push anything. I know it's important to you too."
At the all of this Al gave Melvin a curious look, "So far so good. He's been trying to catalog the local plant species or whatever and figure out what is and isn't safe to eat and I'm trying to learn to cook again some. I'm no good at fishing though."

"Well, it's a bit rough fishing this way though. I used to fish a lot on a boat and the lake with my dad. Ice fishing too with my dad and uncle and then my brother too when he got old enough. If I thought I could manage it, I'd try to rig some kind of fishing pole but it probably would be worse than just using my own hands or a spear." He admitted.
"You can go to the greenhouse. It's as much as Noah's now then it is mine. I just didn't want it to go back to the way it was, busted and forgotten, when Rin first found it. It was her project and I helped her as much as I could. It meant a lot to her, and I would think she would want other people to be able to come and see the plants too. To enjoy the garden as much as she did. It's not off limits. Noah can show it to anyone he likes. I'm grateful a lot for him doing that. She would have thanked him a lot if she was able. A shame they couldn't have been friends."

Al brightened up as images of a plant paradise on par with Eden filled his thoughts and being able to just sit and watch Noah do his thing.
"Do you need me to help with anything?" He asked of the garden. You just, didn't get to stomp around in paradise without contributing, he felt.
"Yeah, it was so sudden. It upset him a lot too, she was showing him some interesting things and then..." He couldn't really bring himself to say it. He'd crossed paths with her too on occasion. They weren't particularly close but she seemed nice. "I don't know what I'd do if I lost Noah. It's why I can't like... you know... ring."

"That's fine. I was just asking about the ring thing. I wasn't far enough with Rin to get that far either. Sometimes I wonder if I should have, but we talked about it before and knew we weren't there yet. At least I knew that at the time....but.......I don't think I'd want anyone to think about that kind of loss. It's....not good and you don't ever really get over it. It's a pretty big hole left."
He said, not looking at Al at all as he looked out.
"Just ask Noah. I don't think he knows it, but I consider him more of the owner of Rin's garden now than me. I never was really into plants. I just helped with what I could for Rin's sake to help with her project and see it take off. I wanted her to have the most success with whatever she put her heart into. It was nice to feel useful that way. So just ask him. Don't worry about my approval. As long as you don't set the place on fire, then I won't have to murder you." He said with a chuckle.

"How do you know for sure when you're there? Like... the ring thing? I'm just, I dunno. I'm scared he might not be there yet but say yes anyway and then resent me for it. Or what if it just.. I dunno. Makes the worst happen? Whenever something good happens, something bad seems to follow to even it out and I just..." He handwaved, not wanting to think about it.
"yeah, he definitely doesn't know it. I'll let him know you said that though once we get back, or you could tell him? I think it'd mean more coming from you. Like, he'd be ecstatic."

"I'll go hunt him down in a bit and tell him." He said, sliding down to finally sit under the shade.
"Well, just talk about the future and touch base from time to time. If it feels like you are ready, bring the word marriage up and see how he reacts. You could even tell him to answer you honestly. You two are together after all. But you need to be there first before bringing it up, and like, you don't have to be anything. You don't need a ring but I know some people want it. And honestly Al, bad s**t happens whether or not you did something bad or good. Best get as much good as you can get while you can get it. Keeps you from going nuts."

Al was quite acutely aware that Melvin was speaking from experience. He moved over to sit side by side with Melvin and placed a hand on his shoulder. "I know it's not the same, but Noah and I are always here for you the best we can. Hell. I've even got a dorm room I'm not using if you need a spot to crash sometimes. We use Noah's so you wouldn't be putting anyone out."
