Jacline || -4-
Jacline held her tongue as bid, and she nearly didn’t dare to look anywhere else but toward their emerging spiritual leaders. For some time, she didn’t. Curiosity, though, had a way of drawing eyes about whether or not they ought, and so eventually in the silence they did, stealing glances to either side of her though her chin remained high and her hands stiffly clasped. Posture wise, she took up as little space as she could. Not a difficult task for a narrow body tucked in at attention.
Her gaze, though, flit from one face to the next. The boy she had initially caught glancing to her and the young girl in his company. A cluster of Yaeli with one woman in the company of a man and another woman who had cried out explicitly in her surprise at something, though Jacline had yet to see why.
Then almost simultaneously, she heard and saw.
A foreigner.
Jacline’s heart throbbed in her gut, and for a moment she thought she might lose it or her breakfast or both in her panic. How could a foreigner have been allowed here among them in a time of crisis? Directly before the High Priest and Priestess? It was a dizzying thought, and Jacline was sure she swayed in her stance, only just managing to seize her terror before it overwhelmed her entirely. Master Tallart had yet to return, she knew not where to turn without him that he could find for certain and know her whereabouts, and she could not simply leave the procession regardless.
What if there were more of them?
The safest she could be was here, before the gods’ Chosen, to pray and wait. As she did, resigning herself to stillness and silence despite the wild beat of her pulse under her skin, her eyes met with the fairer of the two priests who had looked upon her, and she felt a strange easiness overcome her as he held her stare. Even if it seemed that she was without Master Tallart by her side, she was not and would not be alone. Not here, under the watchful eyes of the church.

Xelannis | 4
It was only from the edge of his vision that Xelannis thought he saw something akin to an amused smile on Zekiel's face. The other man was facing the doors, and though Xel could've cocked himself a step to the right to better see his companion, the overall stillness and silence from his peers and the waiting audience kept his feet cemented as well. He did however, manage an innocuous frown, with his pursed lips and pinched brows the only inclination that he did in fact, have more to say.
'Nothing is for nothing.' What an absurd and wildly incorrect statement. Most everything was for nothing. What did it matter whether he was here or not except as a detriment to his own happiness? The gods already had every path planned out, and nothing he, Zekiel, or anyone else did would change that, ever. They were all destined to continue onward at the same rate until they each hit the same end point in which none could escape from, and one disgruntled boy with his wavering complaints about the current state of his existence would cease to be irrelevant by the next sunrise. Anything that could happen here in one instant, among a crowd of others all experiencing the same thing through their own eyes, was meaningless.
Xelannis resolved that he would comment as such as soon as the opportunity presented itself.
Of course, it also leant itself to the fact that his 'thin displeasure' of the moment also meant very little, and it likely would be forgotten all but as soon as his feet carried him elsewhere. At least for the moment, though, he stood annoyed and waiting for the chance to bite back with irate commentary and stamping down a quiet hope that something of notable interest would happen at this gathering.
The quiet and promptly cut-off voice of the girl behind him was too easy to ignore, and Xelannis kept his attention angled up toward the High Priest and Priestess.

Rainier || Post 3
Ranier was somewhat disconcerted by the reaction of the young woman near him, she looked hunted and he was starting to get the feeling she would have been happier if there was a ten foot wall between them.
The whispers coming from the priests of all ages had Rain on edge, he could only make out snippets, but what he heard made him press his mouth into a grim line. Rain heard a commotion in the crowd, somewhere back by where he'd spied the mainlander, but his eyes were busy trying to read the lips, interpret the body language, anything, of the priests. He'd heard 'missing' more than once, his stomach churned uneasily. He turned to ask the woman if she could make out the rest of the whispers at the same time she opened her mouth to speak to him, but at that moment, the sanctum gates began to open and both of their intentions were drawn to the high priest and priestess themselves. Awe rolled off of him, he'd never seen them so close before, they were perfectly composed and serene as they took their places to the front of the gathering. Surely they wouldn't be so calm if something was horribly amiss? Surely even if there was something wrong, these pillars of strength and beauty could guide the Yaeli safely through these troubled waters as they had before.
Movement caught his eye, he turned and the woman was swaying, looking faint, her gaze locked on the mainlander surrounded by the angry buzz of the crowd. Rain squeezes Raisa's hand once and then let go, taking a step towards the woman. He hovered a moment, not wanting to give offense and then reached out to tap her shoulder gently. "Miss, are you going to be alright? You're pale as a ghost." he murmured this as quietly as he could, half of his attention still fixed to the front, "I have water if you need it."

Jianyu 2
Jianyu did not ask questions, as much as he wanted to he was to young and did not feel it was his place to do so. That did not stop him from listening to the rumors and the hushed whispers of the other Yaeli. Nor ignore the odd ones standing in their crowd, they were obviously not Yaeli and stood out like sore thumbs. Finally though the group stepped out and Jianyu returned his gaze on the priest and priestess group to focus on them. They would have answers and they would be able to figure all of this stuff out.

Tarlok Post: 3 Location: Near Saedah -------------------- Tarlok smiled patiently as she stumbled slightly through her conversing. "Yes, we are counting on your brothers and sisters to keep us together!" he said, trying to be a little more cheerful. For her. "Thank you for your service."Gods, it has to be bad if this one is upset..."I am - my family sells talismans, and I thought a few people might want them, for comfort, you know..." he paused, then took out a few choice ones from his bundle. "... but they may mean more coming from you..." he said, his expression serious, now. He looked up at the temple door with concern, debating whether to step aside and back into the crowd. His attention was caught, however, by a sharp noise. "... are you all right?" he asked Saedah, concerned, the talismans retracted for the moment in favor of normal concerned hand motions.

Kieran -3
Kieran nodded to the brothers before glancing back around, "So..." His voice stopped as Trilanna made her exclamation, "It's a shifter." He murmured quietly though his forehead furrowed into a slight frown. While Kieran was far from hostile towards mainlanders due to living overseas for many months before this he wasn't certain that a shifter being in a group of scared Yaeli was the best idea. At least Taijana wasn't fainting now due to her own experiences. Thankful that she was calming her sister Kieran turned his attention back towards the speakers.
Exactly what would they say now...

Ko | 3 |Even as he resolved himself to silence, Ko's heart flew up in his chest like a twirling sparrow as Zekiel clearly addressed him from up on the steps. He must not be mad at Ko after all! That was a relief; displeasing one of the Gods’ chosen would surely be a foolhardy mistake, after all.
And then his attention was diverted to the holy couple that stepped forward, a vision of divine elegance if ever there was one. You could practically feel the presence of the Heavely Ones just be being near them! They surely had to be the most dignified, wise, grand people he had ever laid eyes on, their very aura giving him a calmer heart and mind.
But there seemed to be others in the crowd who were not as easy of mind as he was, a girl in front of him swaying for a moment as her shoulders stiffened up. He took a step closer to offer a steadying hand should she need it, but it would seem someone else had the same sentiments as he: a young man had already moved in, murmuring in her ear. Ko could not have known this would happen, and as they moved at the same time, he bumped into the stranger. “Sorry!” he said in a half whisper, lowering his voice further, “Sorry, I just thought―she might―but then you―sorry! Didn’t mean to butt in. I mean, I kinda’ did…but not into you.” His freckled cheeks warmed a tad and he took a step back to his sister’s side, scratching the back of his head, “And now I’m talking too much, you don’t need me right now, sorry!”

Jianyu 3
Jianyu couldn’t wait for the day that he would be able to go out and explore the rest of Yael, get to know the land. He wasn’t looking forward to ever coming face to face with an Elaria but he would know how to fight by then and he would make sure to live another day. The gods would make certain of it he hoped, at least that’s what he prayed for sometimes at night.

Elyessi sorry it's shorter but I wanted to get a post in Kresimir Post 3 A simple nod was his response to Itotia. Kresimir wanted to stay so he was actually glad that she thought they should as well. His eyes kept scanning the crowd, always returning to eye the priests outside the sanctum. He wondered what could be going on, was it the extremists and the elaria? Or was it something more? The mainlander heard some shouts from someone in the crowd which called his attention to them and in turn made him feel a little bad for staring at her, they probably thought he was working some kind of magic. Thankfully, everyone's attention was diverted to the sanctum. “So that's your high priest and Priestess?” He leaned in towards Itotia as he whispered. The crowd had already started to quiet and he didn't want to be disrespectful.

Taijana - 3
When Dennet stepped forward to take his wife's hand, Taijana gently let go of her sister's hold and moved closer to Kieran. She was more than a little worried about what the priests might have to say, but so far, she was managing to hold it together. Had she been any younger, with any less experience under her belt, the outcome may have been completely different.
At least she wasn't in foreign lands this time, with a strange ship crash landing in the middle of a festival. Hopefully rumors would prove false and everyone who had disappeared could come home. It was a child's dream but her dream, never the less.

Kieran -4
As he noticed Taijana moving closer to him the Yaeli offered a small smile and also his hand. Ever so subtly he held it out towards her while also taking a small step forward and focusing his gaze once more on those who were about to speak.

Rainier || Post 4
Ranier winced as the young man bumped him and sent him off balance into the woman, " Whoops! Sorry, miss!" His cheeks colored as well, but he turned to the other and offered him a kind smile, there was a sweetness about this Yaeli that had him warming towards him almost immediately. "Its perfectly alright, it would be hard not to jostle someone in a crowd this size! I'm Rainier by the way, or Rain" He took a deep breath, starting to understand what people meant when they spoke of claustrophobia with the mass of earthlings between him and Raisa and their home.
... Raisa. His heart jumped into his throat, he spun around in a panic, but she was standing exactly where he had left her a few steps away. She had one brow quirked and was shaking her head at him, all was normal. But who could blame him with the snippets of conversation he was hearing. He beckoned her over, "This is my younger sister Raisa, we live over by the market. Did you... Do you...." He thought a moment, "Have you heard anything about what this is about, I can't quite make out what the priests are muttering amongst themselves but the few words I've caught have me worried."

Post 4 Saedah gave a look behind her, as her focus was on the merchant before her, the High Priestess and Priest hadn't spoken yet or signaled for the group to quiet down to absolute silence, this didn't mean that the crowd hadn't grown more quiet since their emergence. Was it okay for her to continue talking with this man? Or would it be considered incomprehensibly rude? Of course it would also be considered rude to ignore his question as well.
Her face must of looked pale, or the dark circles under her eyes were more prominent due to the stress she was experiencing. He had mentioned talismans a common trade item on Yael but right now she was seriously wondering if she should try and buy one to keep her nightmares at bay..but then..would the order want her anymore?
"Ah.." She blushed embarrassed, he must think she was crazy, after all she had been suffering to keep a panic attack at bay. "..y..our concern is..appreciated ..I ..am..f..f..fine.." Saedah managed to stumble through more words, she kept her head low as if trying to hide her blushing face. "Do...you ha..ave talismans to..ward off evil s..pirits?" She inquired wondering if perhaps that was what was plaguing herself or her mentor.

Tarlok Post: 4 Location: Near Saedah --------------------"If you're sure..." She was very clearly upset. Tarlok was starting to feel, himself, properly unnerved. What does she know? He wanted to try to draw more information out of her, but she was clearly in a fragile state and there was business (of a sort) to be had. "Sure." he said, I would think that the priesthood would have warding covered on their own, but I won't say no to it. Selling wards to an acolyte... isn't there a phrase like that? he thought, a little ruefully. "I have several... see? Here." he displayed a few, as many as he could hold carefully without dropping everything else. At what point had he gone from questioning to comforting? "I'll give you one for yourself - for free. The rest... well, if you have someone in mind for them, you should give it to them, but as I said, I think the people would feel comforted if you gave out a few talismans. It might help you with keeping people calm. And safe." he added as an afterthought. Work or not, superstition or not, they were both there to make people feel better, weren't they? He just would be leaving feeling a little better himself. He hoped. The slight sense of dread weighing on him might not be lifted by any amount of gold in his pocket, after all.

Itotia Post 3Itotia nodded, stepping close as well and leaning in to whisper back. She ignored the full on glares of those around her, and debated actually smiling and waving some of those fools over. That would be quite the laugh. "Indeed. They are the highest law and the speakers for our gods. They bless us twice a year, and speak on behalf of the gods in times of trouble. It appears that this gathering is one of those times..." She took a breath and wondered what it could mean, and why she felt a bit detached compared to all the years before. Maybe it was because she knew of other gods, and of a land where her gods couldn't quite reach.
