"There's not much of a difference." Hydra had stepped into her senshi roles for the same reason Rory volunteered; she had seen a cause that she thought would help save the world and the threw herself behind it. "I go where I'm needed."
Hydra responded to calls sent out by the others in her faction and she followed the auras to the best of her abilities. Other days, she spent time in the Dark Kingdom, training. The bruises got easier to hide when she got better at making sure they hit in places she could cover or would heal quicker. It was hard, relying on just the magical healing factor when others popped starseeds and other things to add a boost.
Once she knew what they were, Hydra had done her best to never, ever, touch a starseed if she could help it.
"You make me laugh." She said automatically, jade eyes blinking at him, red from her tears. "You make me happy, Sealie and - you don't make me cry, okay, but even if you did, it's okay. You're still my favorite person."
The urge was there again, but she sated it by kissing his cheek.

The kiss on his cheek brought a blossom of color across his tan complexion, but he didn't dwell on it. It was safer that way, to not draw attention to the sweet affection she doted on him or how it might be seen as inappropriate; not that it was any more inappropriate than when he'd chosen to kiss her, the prior week... He smiled and gave her yet another look, one eyebrow arching as he shook his head. "Then we're in for a rather dull evening if all you want to talk about is me, my Lady." They sat there quietly for a few minutes more, Seal's Eye choosing to take in the moment in its fullness, tucking away the instance for a memory to cherish later, when he rested alone on his beach or tucked away in his bed. There was no war to fuss with, no sides to take - it was simply them, enjoying life for what it offered. His hands shifted, still circled around her as he lifted one leg to settle it elsewhere, warding off the tingles of his limb falling asleep. In the distance, a happy frog began to croak - perhaps it had found a feast of the fireflies that were coming out to play? It would be a moment more before the older boy finally spoke. "I like to people watch." As if he didn't get enough snooping accomplished by watching his dreamers dream, "It's amusing, watching others when they don't realize someone's taking a glance into their lives. You can learn a lot from a person by watching them, you know."

Hydra was marveled by how Seal's Eye couldn't see that she would listen to him speak for the rest of eternity and be content to sit in his lap as he did so. Of course, other, intrusive thoughts bubbled to the surface and she looked away, ashamed of what her heart wanted when she knew that it wasn't feasible. Yet, she wanted still.
"I'm sorry, that's a lot of pressure to put on you." Hydra's nose wrinkled as she leaned back, allowing herself to look at the profile of her companion's handsome face. She was content to let him talk, but after she had halted his earlier attempt at storytelling, the senshi felt as though she needed to contribute more. Already, she was coaxing him into doing things that he seemed averse to but did anyway for her.
He was bad for her heart, when he did things like this, but she was too selfish to make it stop.
"Everyone's got a story they're telling, even if they don't realize what it's saying to others." She replied. Carefully she shifted, moving to scoot out of his lap because as wonderful as it was, her heart was aching over it. "What did you learn about me?" She asked, bottom of her feet pressing firmly against the ground beneath them.

He remained in his seat as she rose from atop his lap. Hands were reluctant to allow her to leave, the joined fingers slowly parting ways with each other as she pushed her way through his weak hold. The absence of her presence left him wanting - a feeling he quickly forced himself to shove aside as he worked to focus on her comment. The question lingered in the air and he smiled at that, recalling the sweet memory of the first time he'd looked into his waters and saw the turquoise beauty struggling. "From the moment I first saw you, you intrigued me. There was a strength and innocence inside of you that demanded my attention." Rising from the bench, hands moved down to brush the wrinkles out of his slacks, then moved up to do the same to his tunic, gaze finally leaving her to pay attention to his attire. "Well. That and you looked as if you could use a hand." He glanced up for a moment to give her a wry smile, pale blue looking down at her with an impish gleam in his eye. "So I took it upon myself to intervene."

Hydra seemed surprised, put off even, as Seal's Eye also rose to his feet. A flash of concern passed through jade eyes while he was looking away, because she had intended to leave, to put space between them but now that he was standing.
Her heart felt like a rabbit on the run.
"What would I have been, if you didn't? Just a girl lost to the ocean?" She asked, unable to stop the smile that spread across her face. In a moment of impulsiveness, she moved to brush her lips against his cheek again. This time, she lingered, swallowing as she tried to gather her courage to just go for it.
"I'm lucky you saw something in me that you liked," she said quietly, palms pressing against his chest to keep her steady. Her head was saying red light, red light, do not go but her heart said green, go for it. "I can't imagine life without you now." The idea was a terrifying thought and Hydra pushed it aside and distracted herself.
Her mouth had been so close already, it wasn't hard to turn her head just enough and brush her lips against his in something chaste, because as hard as she tried, she was foolish school girl who wanted more from her dream guardian.

His playful comment was rewarded with a beautiful smile that warmed his very soul - and a kiss, which had his mind reeling back from the sudden assault on his emotions. They were supposed to be teasing, giving each other nudges as friends did to one another. Friends did not suddenly kiss the other on the cheek... granted, he'd kissed her forehead more times than he'd cared to count, but that didn't mean... Words were lost. He'd wanted to point out how she'd have simply woken up, just as dreamers tended to do when nightmares grew overwhelming. That his intervention had been more for his own curiosity than her comfort - which should have been a warning sign, right then and there. That he'd never met another senshi that dreamed of herself in her powered form... that she was one in a million. One in a lifetime, from his experience. "I can't imagine life without you now."The words were touching, but his heart thumped wildly in response, knowing her implication lay far beyond the realm of friendship. But what did he say to something like that? "I feel very similar, my --" Words were cut off as her lips brushed against his. There was no mistake, her movements had been calculated, intentional. She was brief but she'd kissed him of her own volition and his head jerked back, expression startled. "Hydra, I..." He closed his eyes, drawing in a deep breath. Using his hand, he steadied her head as lips moved to press a long, dry kiss across her forehead marking. Against her skin, he finally whispered. "I am not worthy of your affection, my Lady." Releasing her, he forced a smile across his face as he took a step back, moving to bow in her direction in his usual charming flourish. Appearances meant everything - she didn't need to know how much it was worrying him, how it shook him to his core to know there was a decision that now pressed against his heart. A decision that could be, ultimately, life changing for the both of them. "Until next week, Lady Hydra." With a blink, he once again disappeared into the night, the usually calm Dream Guardian fleeing from his feelings as quickly as he could.

If time could freeze, surely it would have in that moment, her heart beating so loudly she could barely make out the things that he was saying to her. Mistake, her logical brain told her, but her heart was demanding more and she felt helpless to resist it even as she swayed where she stood.
Perhaps it was a good thing that he placed his hands on her head and lips against her forehead because it kept her from reacting.
The words he said to her, barely heard over the thumping in her chest, nearly broke her heart and she tried to reach for him but there was too much space. "Wait--" She tried, feet hurrying forward but it was too late, because he was gone and in his place a chill wrapped around her. Easing out a shaky breath, she stared at the place her he had been, palm pressed over her chest and covering the barely peaking crack in her chest.
A few minutes passed of her simply standing there, hair tossed by the slight night breeze that fluttered through the park. Once convinced he wasn't coming back, Hydra left herself.
