He muscled in just to get closer, his face pressed up against the mirror as close as he could.
"What you mean she's our child! Hold on a second! You saying you got my kids in there? You better be kidding, or else.."
Except.. there was always another option. An option that only presented itself due to the fact that their memories, as much as he could tell, had been lost. At least some of them. Perhaps some important ones. Such as -
He looked up at Mimsy. They didn't have a third child..
.. did they?!

The bellow caught her attention. "Darkjay! What do you see in the mirror?"
It was very important.

"It seems heavy," the voice sympathized, and there was an equally morose sigh, "I've tried moving it too, it just doesn't work."
Yet, when Terr glanced around, all he would find were probably a bunch of other horsemen yelling to different mirrors in the wide expanse of reflections quite a distance away. There was nobody else nearby.
"Have you tried removing the frame?" The voice suddenly suggested. "It isn't the outside that matters anyway, it's really just the inside. The mirror itself is far, far more valuable."

At what point should Terr seriously reconsider continuing this conversation? Probably at the very beginning when he saw all the mirrors. It was too late for that now.
"Remove the frame? Is it the frame that's making the mirror heavy?" He would have also told his unseen conversation partner that he was only really interested in the frame. He could make himself another mirror easily enough given his skills and whether there were available materials.
The voice insisted that the mirror was the star, although Terr highly doubted that. But he tried as suggested anyway, fingers feeling for any sort of latch that he could undo and free the frame, er, the mirror.

For every measure of Robert's alarm and concern, Mimsy seemed equally calm and understanding. She glanced at him, a mild look of confusion crossing her expression, and simply pointed to the mirror again. She had already told him!
"'The words first'," she tried, tone suggesting that she might be teasing herself. She then tried to mimic the silent motions, found herself doubting that she'd succeeded, and opted to try something different. With two hands held apart, she held perfectly still for just a few short seconds; when she moved again, it was to look up at herself, her eyes wide with determination.
Between her hands was the work of several tiny spiders, reading 'oh hello!'.
"Make the words! Make the words, and then I will say them! Yes?"

"Of course, of course," said the reflection in a much more rushed tone, "these are all lovely things, lovely just like you. But wouldn't you say, the most, most, most absolute important thing is love?"
Its tone was decidedly saccharine.

A single reply.
Yes.
And then another reply, almost immediately from the phone.
You can be.
"You can be," repeated the first of the two mirrors out loud, the ones that had been talking in pairs to each other.
"You should be," confirmed the second, and all eyes were now looking at her, making her feel like the observed and the reflections the observer.
"You will be." The third, the one that had returned to its post now.
There was a last message for her against the reflection.
Come join us and become real.

Immediately, a hand grabbed Loki's wrist and she was pulled away, far far away from the mirrors. It felt like being pulled from a warm fireplace, watching everyone else dance and speak and have fun while she drifted further and further away.
"You must not," said the High Priestess, not letting go of Loki's wrist. "This place should not exist at all."
Loki could still see familiar faces speaking to the mirrors as if gazing from a long tunnel away, their voices and words echoing down and down and down.

By the.... The voices caught her off-guard, wings twitching in response. She hadn't expected the voices to speak to her, much less from the mirrors. She glanced from reflection to reflection. Join them and be real, huh? Seemed... suspicious.
And yet...
She rolled her shoulders, wings shifting behind her and blocking out the mirrors from anyone else.
I will be real. What do I need to do?
Asuna pressed both her hand and the phone to the original mirror, jaw set.

There was still nothing left in the reflection.
And then slowly, where Adelaide's fingers, where her hands touched, the frame of the mirror began to wilt, and then melt, and then merge with her hands. It wasn't just melting into her, it was slowly, piece by piece, pulling her in.
The worst part was nobody else seemed to notice at all, not even Darkjay lingering nearby, too busy attacking their own reflection.

The mirror shattered and then stayed there. The crying stopped-
- And then started again this time behind him, on an identical mirror. The same image, the same crying, and now they were gasping for air, like some human, and now they were pointing fingers at the true him and their lips were moving but no voice was coming out.
There was however, a strange emotion and perhaps it felt almost foreign and terrible and uncomfortable and it burned at his chest and refused to let go.
Guilt.

The frame of the mirror did actually unlatch, exactly as Terry imagined it, and the reflection part itself simply caved in, folding open sideways like a secret door.
At the other end of the door was a long staircase.
"See?" came a muffled voice from down the staircase, a long, narrow, winding staircase that seemed to have no end. "There's something much more valuable inside the frame."

Rarely did Elaia's mind get philosophical, she probably couldn't even spell the word properly without looking it up or having her phone spell check it. She was of a simple mind, sometimes one track and never minded it. Sure, her imagination could run wild and her head could come up with crazy ideas, her mouth often blurting them out without a second thought. But nothing was ever really that deep. Simple, happy and driven, that's how she operated.
She thought of her other answers and the pressing matter the mirror was presenting her with. Didn't they all deal with love in some form? Friends were bonded with it, families made, there was fun because of it and the battles were because there was a thrill.
"Yeah!" Elaia exclaimed, her smile returning in full - when did it fall? Or maybe she had been thinking too hard. Her eyes fell back to the mirror, locking eyes with that of her reflection and stared intently with an ever present sort of happy, "It totally is right? It kind of seeps into everything and makes it all gooey and awesome and important and all that good stuff."

The crisis was somehow temporarily paused with the coorperation of her War fellow. Having some idle time, Siluhe decided to visit one of her many friends on the Death floor. The death floor was weirder than she thought, she already met with a mirro the moment she stepped out the elevator. She then saw many more scattered around.
The petite horseman wondered what the function of the mirrors were. Was it to check their appearances or to facilitate their so-called trance? Siluhe stared at the mirror and just stared at it.

Nothing happened at first, and Asuna looked a little silly just trying.
Then, something stirred against the mirror, and she could see beyond the cell message her reflection's mouth as it split into a wide, wide grin, as it reached over with one hand, fingers protruding from the surface and-
- "What are you doing?"
This time it wasn't a reflection, it was someone else who grabbed Asuna by the shoulders and pulled her back, far, far backwards. It may have taken her a moment to realize that it was an actual horseman pulling her away and even longer to realize her reflections were now pressed against the mirror surfaces now as she was pulled further away, screeching like banshees, words entirely inaudible.
"That was close." Her captor was a Death Guardian, or he seemed to be, with the type of easily forgettable face that was already making him hard to discern from the crowd they drifted away from. "Any longer and you would have been, well, look, just trust me and leave. If you stay, you're not coming back from this."

Adelaide's question went unanswered, his only response was harsh breathing, heart hammering in his chest. He needed to calm down. It was just a famine illusion. The sobbing had stopped, his reflection was gone and he was real -
The noise began anew, and he whirled on the spot to face another mirror, the exact same mirror he had just destroyed. Darkjay bared his teeth at this figure, wings flaring, ready to strike this one down too. He would destroy every mirror here if he had too!
There was something different this time, however. His revolving reflection's mouth kept opening and closing like some fish out of water. Was it choking?
Hah, served him right. "Thats what you get" His grin turned feral as his reflection pointed at him, saying something but no sound accompanied him. Instead a horrendous feeling welled in his chest. It burned like a fire, felt like maggots were eating at his heart. Had he ever felt such a emotion as this? He stepped back, wings folding along his body like some makeshift shield against the emotions filling up his heart.
"The ******** you...DONE TO ME?!" He struck the mirror again.

"Yes the words," her reflection repeated patiently, unable to repeat the words again, "Use them, they are power, they are our, they are your power. Focus, you can do this, just remember-"
-"Remember what?" Laughter, and then an arm snaked around the reflection. A perfect reflection of Robert. "Is this the yourselves thing you were going on about? I still don't get it but," and here he made an exaggerated handwave, "Hello me!"
"Alice," said the mirror Mimsy patiently, "They want to see Alice."
Mirror Robert turned around, and then moments later a third reflection bounded in. It was a healthy-looking girl, with her mother's eyes and her father's hair colour. Her hair was long, wild, and she had an impressive stare, choosing to just look at them without saying anything.
"This is Alice," introduced mirror Mimsy. "She's the one you've been looking for all this time."
