Ume's time in the ocean was cut relatively short once someone who clearly was having a much rougher time than her was flung directly into her side causing a shot of pain to rush up her back. Wincing she pushed forward following the encouraging currents back to the surface. Once she breached the water she let out a pained hiss. Rolling onto her back she splayed herself out, allowing the water to decide if it would bring her safely back to shore or not. It seems that the water had her in it's favor today as it was unexpectedly gentle pushing her back onto the sands. Using one of the watchers for support she rose back to her feet victorious. She had been accepted and even shown favor by the ocean today despite the minor hiccup in the beginning. Why her back certainly would be feeling the after effects of this swim now that it was finished she could safety say it was worth it. The validation of knowing that she was in the right place was more than enough to smother the bothersome pain. Now it was time for her to take a backseat and wait for the events of the day to unfold. There were still a lot of her friends, children she had come to care for, and even a few members of her family left out in the water to pray for a good swim on! _________________________________ Kaluwa was having a fantastic time under the water! Once he safely moved past the drop off into deeper waters where he wouldn't have to worry about hurting any of the littler ones attempting their swims Kaluwa really took off. Though his body was large and cumbersome on land it suited him just fine for propelling him through the water with ease. By the time he came up for air he had already a mouth stuffed with squirming fish. The ocean had giving him it's blessing and for that he was ecstatic! (Even more so than usual) Dog paddling his way back to shore he was quick to meet back up with the mysterious new stranger that bore a uncanny resemblance to him. Dropping his bounty at her feet Kaluwa couldn't help but pose proudly in front of his sister. He was grateful to the trip out to the Dov for reuniting the pair of siblings back together again. It had been a very pleasant and unexpected surprise to find her this morning waiting outside of his den's doorstep, stating that she 'couldn't miss watching her brother in all his beach bum action, now could she?' "How 'bout that, Imani? Not bad for someone born in the highlands, no?" __________________________________________ Letting out a short chuckle Imani shook her head at her brother's antics. Years later and he was still the big goofball that she remembered. Though she had to admit he certainly had grown more confidant into the role! Her face lit up with amusement as she prodded one of the flopping fish with a claw. "Impressive. Though I can honestly say I have no idea what makes this swim any more special than any other but...it certainly makes for quite the event!"
Peering back up to him she beamed a smile before she leaned forward to give him a encouraging head bump. "I'm proud of you, Kaluwa. You've certainly found your place in the world and you seem happy."

It was customary for every Bahari to attend the festivities, they weren't expected to stay the entire day, but they were at least expected to show their face. Solomon arguably had a considerable amount of work to do, the surge in new faces had resulted in the Bumani being rather understaffed with a significant amount of work to do.
...So much so, that he had simply installed a certain someone in his own home to avoid her making demands about extensions, custom decor and god knows what else she might have under her paw. He dared not ask, as he simply didn't have the time. Nevertheless, despite her bluster he had been rather amused by the lioness to the point that he was hoping the ocean would take a liking to her. Whether she would have the guts to go in though remained to be seen.
Thus it was with some surprise that he caught sight of said lioness walking in to the water of her own volition, before completely submerging herself underneath. Brave, he'd give her that, but he did have to wonder if the mountain lioness actually knew how to swim. Only time would tell, and rather than quicken his pace, the white lion simply sauntered towards the water's edge to observe the on going festivities.
So far, it seemed like the majority of those who had entered had been embraced, there were only a few who had more grim expressions.
...Alas, luck was not on their side today, it would seem.

Meara watched from the shore as the younger members of the pride stood in the waters. She prided herself on being able to swim well enough, but rather than go and join in with the others, she was waiting on the sidelines in case any of the cubs or adolescents were in any danger of drowning. She took immense pride in being an Nyangumi for her pride.
With perked ears, she noticed a familiar face emerging from the water and rushed over to her side.
"Well done, Ume!" She purred, sticking close to the older lioness in case the other needed support. "How do you feel? Do you need me to fetch you anything?" There were others about to watch the little ones for a short while, thought Meara. If her friend needed her, she would be there to help Ume first.

[Roll is for Spectre, to be used for plot related reasons in his continuing development.] The white lion hadn't put up much of a fight since he'd arrived on these shores; he'd been relatively quiet as he was tended to by the pair of Mshauri. It had come as some relief to his son, who every now and then had slipped in to ensure that the ghostly male was recovering. Already he had begun to bulk out, settled enough to eat and drink as he should have been from the beginning, but the nightmares that had been haunting him had proved to be another matter entirely.
Eventually, Solomon had been politely and very kindly dismissed by Chessa, with a quiet request that he return when summoned. Neither she or her son had specified why, but whatever they had been doing appeared to be doing the trick. He wasn't so easily spooked, though one might also say that that was simply due to his location...
Peregrine had surmised that Solomon's 'nightmares' functioned in much the same way as his mother's own visions. When she found something that triggered them, she would be subject to their whims, when that trigger wasn't present...everything was calm. Whatever may have triggered Solomon simply wasn't nearby, and as such he had managed to settle comfortably. This didn't mean that the white lion didn't spook, on the contrary Peregrine had been forced to throw his weight around on a number of occasions when something in the lion's mind seemed to remind him things were simply too quiet.
...But there had been progress.
So much so that Chessa had made the decision to try something new this morning. While the children may have been casting themselves into the sea to see if they would be approved, Chessa believed that Spectre should do much the same for entirely different reasons. She had done it once before herself, and Peregrine had done such a ceremony as a child, but the significance of this might be lost on her son today.
"So, it's very simple," she explained as she gazed out at the calm waters and smiled. "You simply walk into the water and allow yourself to be taken by it," she explained. "With any luck the ocean will take you on a journey," she added and lifted her paw to pat at Spectre's shoulder gently.
"And when it's finished, you should find yourself back here," Peregrine added with a small nod.
Unsurprisingly, Spectre didn't seem sold on their explanation, but it was a marked difference from when he would often utter incoherently and pace. On this occasion he simply decided to regard the water for a few moments before conceding. They hadn't hurt him yet, and so far the shadows had stayed away, so maybe doing this was just another measure to stop them?
The white lion didn't quite understand how such a land existed, or how it functioned, but for now it seemed to possess a unique quality. Whatever it was made of, wherever it was, those shadows didn't seem to be able to come in here...
"Are you sure he'll be all right?" the petite rabbit asked as the white lion finally began to make his way into the water. The rabbit had only recently joined the lion's side, but he knew enough about these traditions to understand what they entailed. That being said, it was still asking a lot for the ocean to accept someone who was not a Bahari - it wasn't that the ocean hated those who were outsiders, it was just that this ceremony wasn't for them...
"Have faith, Durama," Peregrine pointed out with a wry smile.
"That should be the tag line of this place," The rabbit replied with a roll of his eyes and a mild sigh.
"I rather thought 'relax; unwind' would have been the tag line," Chessa remarked delicately as she flicked her gaze momentarily towards her son's friend and raised a brow.
"I don't know, at this point I think I'm going to go with the other one..."

 "So, in order for the cubs to be a full member of society, they have to do this?" Tala queried as she watched the next set of cubs bound into the water. Suffice it to say that it didn't seem any of them were terribly afraid of what they needed to do. If anything, she had noted that several of them seemed to be excited, but then this was somewhere they would have played regularly... They had nothing to be afraid of.
Even so, the pale lioness had noted that there were more than a few adults strewn about in the water to assist should anything go south. So far so good though, or at least she thought things were going well.
"Essentially, yes," the blue lion responded as they came to a halt by the water. "They give themselves to the sea and then the sea determines whether or not they're worthy. Once it has decided, they and we will know," he shrugged his shoulders. "Those who are embraced today will be considered full members of the community."
"And those who don't?" Tala asked, her expression creasing slightly with concern.
"Then they try again another day, today just may not be their day, but it's ultimately their decision to attempt to offer themselves up again so they can do so in their own time," he smiled reassuringly and shook his head. "You worry too much, no one will be hurt today, we'll make sure of that, it's a time for celebration."
"I've been hearing that a lot lately," Tala replied with a little sigh. "It seems everyone around here is saying that."
"We do operate on a much more relaxed schedule, yes," Euphyrates agreed and offered a small chuckle. Taking a seat, he regarded the cubs who, with squeals of delight, were managing to acquire their fish. Granted some appeared to be gathering those fish from the nannies who had strategically caught a few to hand to the youngest of cubs, but the teenagers seemed to be proving their mettle at the moment. "Whether it's fishing or creating a family, we tend to favour patience over pressure..."
Tala rolled her eyes, though her smile did glimmer with fondness.
"And I'd do well to borrow that, huh?"
"Pretty much." Huo: 2 | Shui: 2 | Soleil: 2 | Solomon: 1 | Euphy: 1 | Tala: 1 | Peregrine: 1 | Chessa: 1 | Spectre: 1 | Durama: 1

Shio paddled along after coming up for air, slowly making his way to where his brothers were. Well...brother. All he could see was the bright fiery mane of Huo. He didn't think much of it at first, though, and he continued to make his way out to sea. A little pain in his gut let him know he shouldn't have eaten as much as he had this morning in preparation for the swim - it was giving him a cramp. The suddenly alarmed tone of his brother had him forgetting about his pain for a moment as realization that the blue twin was in trouble. He watched Huo dive under the water and as he reached the spot he had disappeared, he looked down below him. The water wasn't terribly deep in the cove but it certainly wasn't shallow enough for any lion to stand and keep their head above water. It was perhaps three lions deep if they all stood on their hind legs and his two siblings were down near the bottom. Taking a deep breath, Shio dove beneath the water, following his brother down. The cramp in his side grew in severity the deeper he went, though, and he was forced to turn back about halfway down. He broke through the surface again, gasping for air as he struggled to remain afloat, his wet mane dragging him down a bit into the sea as his side ached.

It was Ume's pale ears that first shot up and swiveled to locate the source of her friend's voice, her head followed shortly after she pin-pointed Meara amongst the din of the background noise. "Ah, Meara! Hello there, dear!" She replied back cheerfully, her head already turning to follow the squishing sound of foot steps in the sand padding around to her side. Was she sticking close for support? T'aw, what a nice girl. Ume made a small mental note to make sure to invite her over for some snacks at some point, it had been far too long since the two of them had just sat down and spoken to each other! "Thank you! Honestly though? I'm sore as hell right now." Letting out a short chuckle she shook her head. "What I wouldn't kill for someone to come sit on my back right now to pop it back into place." She gave a dismissive flick of the paw as she settled herself down on her hind-legs. "But no, don't worry dear I'm quite alright. What about you? Are you going to be taking your rites today as well?" _______________________________________________ The Bahari were getting weirder and weirder by the day, honestly Organa was starting to wonder if there was something funky in the water. Some locals did seem to love to comment about it all the time... Here they all were, standing around just...staring at the ocean? The same thing that they woke up to, that they ate next to, that they were lulled to sleep by? She didn't understand it, not one single bit, and so naturally she was compelled to go investigate. If she was going to be stuck here for god's knows how long she would at least have an understanding of what was going on! It had been hours ago she had decided to get up and follow Peregrine to the 'event' he said was going on this morning, and yet she was only arriving now. Her large pregnant belly made moving around even around the den a chore, let alone take a great waddling trek across half of the territory! Stopping one or two times to grab a bite to eat might not have been the best for her progress either.... But at last she was here, late and exhausted, but here none-the-less! Now she could actually get started on her little stake-out. Perhaps after a light snack and breathing break though... Yukio: 1 - Kaluwa: 2 - Ume: 3 - Imani: 1 - Organa: 1

Meara smiled at the cheery tone of her companion, happy in her decision to have come over to the other lioness. She flicked her tail idly as she listened to the older female, at first unsure of whether she was being serious about wanting someone to sit on her and even more uncertain if Meara ought to offer to do it herself.
"Well, maybe some of the cubs will be interested in a romp along your spine." Meara suggested with a laugh, once she realized that not all of it had been in seriousness, though the sandy adult suspected that the soreness part was true enough. "Though it seems most of the little ones seem to be out in the sea with the others." Maybe a soggy cub wouldn't solve the problem after all.
Glad that the subject was changed so she didn't accidentally say something embarrassing, Meara replied with a sigh of relief. "Me? Oh no, I already went through this when I was a cub myself. I don't need to go through it again to know what it's like." She shivered a little. "I didn't do... badly. I was a strong swimmer, I suppose, but I caught my paw in some coral and had a limp days afterwards. Well, I survived and that's what matters." She went on quickly. "I'm out here now to make sure none of the new little ones need my rescuing. Or anyone else for that matter!" She added, bumping her shoulder gently against Ume's.
"I should probably get back to that soon," She went on, hoping she wasn't being rude by bowing out again so quickly. She really did love Ume's company, but she would loathe to be shirking her work when she just arrived! "I just wanted to make sure you were okay first."

There was something wrong... Even the white lioness could see it from the shore. At first she hadn't thought anything of it, but the longer she waited, and the longer she watched, the more she realised that something was most assuredly amiss. It was with a concerned furrow of her brow that she nudged Euphyrates and nodded towards the direction of Shio.
"I'm not the world's strongest swimmer, but...Is that normal?" she asked hesitantly, it was then that she pointed out towards the floundering adolescent.
Euphyrates being the type of lion he was, hadn't initially caught sight of the issue, and as he was nudged he turned his gaze towards the direction in which his companion had pointed. It was with a momentary pause that he assessed the situation and then shook his head. He sprang to his feet immediately and wordlessly, he began to sprint towards the water's edge.
No, what had occurred was not normal, and Shio did need help.
"Oh dear..." Tala's brow furrowed in concern. Euphyrates had not been the sort to react with any speed, yet here he was springing forward in much the same way as a spring did when released.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Meanwhile, Huo was already deep beneath the water and quickly closing in on his other brother. At this time he was confident that Shio was following him, thus he had continued to make his way as quickly as possible towards the struggling Shui. Fortunately, it wasn't long before the sea-born lion was within reach of his brother and had gave him a reassuring pat on the shoulder.
Unsurprisingly, Shui's expression flooded with relief as Huo entered his line of sight, and largely weakened by his time underneath the water he could do nothing more than motion towards his leg to indicate his predicament. It seemed that Huo had already assessed the situation and was making quick work of the seaweed that was currently holding Shui captive.
...Shui would eventually be free, but Shio was still another matter entirely.
So far, today did not look like a good day for the monarchy!Meanwhile, it seemed that the petite cub had since recovered from her swim and was more than ready for another. Once she was certain that her elders were comfortable with her going in again, the young cub had bounded forward and once again plunged into the 'depths'. Paddling rapidly, she was soon making her way towards the small group gathered in the distance.
Unbeknownst to her, it seemed that she was on a 'collision course' for the white lion who had finally submerged himself in the waters below. Not that this was necessarily a bad thing, it might just come as a bit of a shock to the white lion when he discovered the 'other world' also included tiny cubs as well!
~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Oooh well look at that, he actually went in," Chessa remarked softly as Spectre's head finally dipped beneath the surface. He could still be seen, but his form was getting so much smaller as he sank into the depths. All things considered this was a rather significant step for the white lion and a further indication that he was beginning to trust those around him again. It wasn't a perfect trust, it was certainly one riddled with concern, but it was a vast improvement on his episodes.
"He has been with us for quite some time," Peregrine remarked and then hazarded a wry smile as his mother supplied him with a rather unimpressed glance. "The lack of a trigger is significant, we can be sure of that now," he pointed out and then shook his head. "It's just like yours, you haven't had one since you got here either, your visions are all but gone here," he pointed out softly. "Not having those episodes has gone a long way to at least settling his nerves."
"Yes, but settling one's nerves here does not necessarily settle them everywhere," Durama pointed out, flomping himself down onto the sand and placing his forepaws on his hindpaws. It was then that he stretched and continued to observe the ever disappearing shadow of Spectre. "At the moment you've turned this place into a prison... Kind of," he glanced up at both the disapproving stares of the lions and waited patiently for them to process what he had said.
"Valid." Peregrine agreed at last.
"One step at a time," Chessa murmured and shook her head. "Once he feels safe we can start to work on everything else," she pursed her lips. "There's still something not quite right about him, and it's not his visions."
"I imagine that would be the split personalities." Peregrine replied in a blunt manner, his eyes fixed on the horizon.
"Eh?" Durama queried.
"Huh?" His mother replied.
"Two entities, one body. He's not who he thinks he is... Surely that was obvious?"
Unsurprisingly, both mother and companion took to garing at the traditionally 'difficult' Peregrine.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The sights, the sounds and the scents of the world had all but disappeared. Instead, it was replaced by a sound he couldn't really describe. In the distance he could hear what he thought was laughter, distance bubbles as something stirred in the water and thrust itself forward...and yet, when he opened his eyes, for the most part there was nothing here.
Far as the eye could see, there was simply an endless expanse of nothing. Well it was 'nothing' by his definition, but not in a bad way. Swathes of sand lay far beyond, and it seemed that this world became ever deeper as it moved further away from the shore. To his sides, behind him, and even beneath him there seemed ot be underground trees that he had never seen before and it was with unbridled curiosity that he walked towards them as his paws finally hit the ocean floor.
Was there life here; or was it truly empty...?
This was a question he would soon find an answer to as he swept some of the 'trees' aside and sent a flurry of glittering fish into the water around him. It was further supported, when he caught the sight of the smallest cub in this unusual world, staring back at him with wide eyes and just as much curiosity as he had for it... "Ah, I wish it would be that easy and trust me I've tried with Yukio! But those little ones are all knobby knees and sharp claws." Personally if it was up to Ume her dream masseur would be strong, handsome, and a smooth voice that she could swoon to why he did his work. Ha! Like that was ever going to happen! But a girl could dream though, right? Her eyebrow raised at the relieving sigh coming from her companion. Clearly she wanted a subject change though her reasoning behind the decision we're still vague at best to the older lioness. Nevertheless she wouldn't torture the girl with subjects that were clearly uncomfortable for her. "Ah yes this use to be a private family affair before all of this party and pomf got added, yes? Well I'm glad to hear that the ocean accepted you and that everything went we-" Her head snapped to the sound of rushing feet and frenzied splashes in the water. Her shoulders tensed as she got up, ready to bolt into whatever was causing the disturbance. "Meara, something is wrong. What's going on? Did someone get hurt?!" She blubbered out panicked, her words slurring together. _____________________________________________________________ "It's a paradise in literally every sense of the word, Imani. Of course gods like to flock here every once and a while, they need a break from whatever they do day-to-day as well." He gave a shake of his head at his sister's inquiry about the green goddess who had just recently made her way into the water herself to preform her own rite. "That one is special though...I believe that this means she's actually decided to stick around." He added on. His lips pursed as he contemplated the water's surface where the goddess at just submerged. He had to wonder how one deity would treat another? "I'll give it to you guys that it's very pretty and relaxed here." Though personally in her opinion it was a touch boring. Paradise is nice to visit but living in it would get very stale for her. "I suppose she found something that sparked her interests enough to stay." She remarked with a loose shrug of her shoulders. Hey, that was her choice to make. For the goddess' sake she hoped the ocean would 'accept' her as it had the majority of the applicants so far. A impish smirk lit up Kaluwa's face as he nudged his sister closer towards the water. "You know you could try your paw at it and see how the ocean takes a liking to you?" "No." She bluntly denied him, his wicked smile meeting only a bored stare. "Imani~" Kaluwa coo'd softly as he started to nudge her inch by inch closer to the water's edge. "No. You couldn't bribe me with all the meat in the world to take that plunge." "C'mon ya know how to swim. A little water behind your ears is not going to kill ya." He pointed out with a flick of his paw he motioned her to take a step forward. "Toss yourself back in there if you like it oh so much, you big oaf!" She replied with a roll of her eyes. Her feet promptly digging themselves deep into the sand to halt any further progress. "Oh come on!" Kaluwa exclaimed as he took a step back. Plunking down onto his hindquarters he tossed his paws up into the air. "Now you're just being stubborn. Honestly it's just a little swim, I've seen you do it a thousand times back when we were cubs." On the other hand Kaluwa was busy rambling off at himself Imani quickly tuned him out. Instead her attention drifted off to idly watching the young swimmers with their attempts. Hm, she might not have been a member of the Bahari or a expert swimmer but it did seem like there were some who were having a rough time of it out there. Shouldn't there have been lifeguards out there to help? Actually..wait a minute. That amount of thrashing and struggling only could mean...ohshit. "Kaluwa." She called out as she rose up to her feet. "Imani please, I'm in the middle of bitching you out. Please hold all questions, comments, and concerns till the end." He replied coolly before continuing off on his mini-rant. Letting out a sigh she spun around on her heels. Lifting a paw she gave him a prompt slap across the back of the head before using that same paw to point out the two boys clearly in the distress in the water. "Kaluwa, shut the hell up and pay attention! Go help them! Now!"She didn't have to say anything else before he was diving into the water. Where the young prince's where lacking in luck, Kaluwa seemed to have been blessed with it today! Though he could say safely that he spent a great deal of that luck when he managed to catch the outgoing current using it as a natural sling-shot to propel him forward to where the brother's were. "Hey little man! Take my paw and you can lean on me!" He called out as he offered a paw out to Shio. _____________________________________________________________ Well this certainly was a interesting turn of events. Now that she had successfully located Peregrine in the crowd and made note of his position - as well as noting that he was with what seemed to be his...family members? Parents perhaps? She had gone off to hunt for something to satisfy her hunger before her own children started a revolution inside her stomach. Or more so she was on the hunt for something to eat before a commotion started to rile up near the front of the crowd. Letting out a tired sigh Organa pursed her lips into a tight sneer before dropping the soft shell crab she had caught under her good paw. "Congrats, you live another day." She grumbled under her breath. Waddling herself back over to the main grouping Organa sliently stood in the back taking quick notes on what little cue she could pick up about the situation at-hand. Hm, something or someone had gotten a good portion of the crowd stirred up. Which meant it was time for one thing.... Time for another exciting game of pick the random person to go try to interrogate! Who would be the lucky contestant today? It wasn't going to be the number of oblivious elders chatting amongst themselves! Nor was it going to be the brightly marked pair of siblings either! But what have we here, folks? A woman sitting alone who seemed to have a genuine interest in what was going on? Winna winna chicka dinner! The pale lioness who stood out strangely amongst the sea of curls it would be, ladies and gentleman! Padding herself over to Tala Organa made no motions to introduce herself or even alert the other female of her presence before plunking herself down next to her. "Soooo," She started off. Giving a click of her tongue she lazily gave a side-eyed glance Tala's way. "Did I miss someone drowning or did someone find a particularly shiny shell in the water that sparked everyone's attention?" Yukio: 1 - Kaluwa: 3 - Ume: 4 - Imani: 2- Organa: 2
Tala seemed to have been here long enough not to be alarmed when someone randomly approached her, thus as Organa broke the silence, she merely turned her head round to gaze at the curious lioness. Evidently she had just arrived, and based on the question she posed, wasn't one of the Bahari. Even then, she must have been new to the area if she hadn't even gained some understanding of what it was that was going on...
"One of the adolescent cubs is having some issues in the water," she replied and turned her gaze back towards the two male lions who had descended upon the struggling cub. Well, one had managed to reach him, Euphyrates was still making his way towards him, though his approach was rapid. Regardless, it seemed that for now, the cub in question would be all right - at a glance, the pale coat seemed to indicate that it might very well have been one of the monarch's cubs.
...Was that something to regard with concern?
"He should be all right though," she said with a smile and shook her head. "It seems they've managed to reach him with enough time to spare," she added. "No drowning, just a bit of a scare it seems."Huo: 3 | Shui: 3 | Soleil: 3 | Solomon: 1 | Euphy: 2 | Tala: 3 | Peregrine: 2 | Chessa: 2 | Spectre: 2 | Durama: 2
She was honestly glad to see that this wasn't one of those skittish types who jumped at their own shadow, let alone the thought of social interaction. Though it appeared this lioness was a fellow visitor she seemed to have adapted (or perhaps just was naturally inclined) to the down-to-earth nature the beach bums had oh so lovingly been nicknamed after! "Well that took a lot longer than I would have expected for something to go south." Both of her eyebrows raised into her hairline as she regarded the scene with a mild interest. "With how young many of these cubs are it was bound to happen eventually." She added on to explain her previous statement before any questions arose. Clearly the locals had expected the same result to happen as well or there wouldn't have been so many first-responders standing at the ready to go save one of the children at a moment's notice. If there was anything she had to give the Bahari, is that they weren't dumb by any means! Though she couldn't understand the particular worry over the cubs in question, to her most of the young looked damn near identical. All of them were hyperactive balls of fluff that could be found in every color, pattern, and size under the rainbow here. Trying to pin one set down to a certain bloodline seemed pointless to attempt given the short amount of time she was expected to stay here. Still Organa let out a sigh of relief. Her own mild smiled tugged at the corners of her mouth. "Well thank goodness for that. It certainly would have killed the mood of the after-party I've heard about had it been the other way around." Organa's brows furrowed together when she was finally able to get a better look at the white cub being assisted from the water. Turning her head slowly to stranger besides her she gave a careful once-over of her before turning back to compare with the adolescence. "You two look strikingly similar, is he one of yours?" "That would rather dampen the mood, yes," Tala agreed with a small chuckle. Truth be told, she was beginning to suspect that for some there would be some somber feelings, after all they didn't appear to have been successful today. However, based on the chatter she had overhead from several of the elders it wasn't the end of the world for them, they would simply have to try again at some point in time.
...When that was, would be entirely up to them.
"But it was inevitable I suppose," she tilted her head to the side as she regarded the number of cubs that were present. To say the Bahari had experienced quite the explosion of tiny paws was an understatement... They had been very lucky, so perhaps it was more logical to expect that there might be one or two that the ocean wasn't 'sure' of at this particular moment in time. "Though I suspect they had all hoped for some favourable results today, more so than 'failures' as it were."
Alas, when Organa posed her question Tala gave a short laugh and quickly shook her head.
"Oh, no they're not mine," she replied and took a breath. "I'm not entirely sure I can even have cubs to be honest," she shrugged her shoulders loosely. "They seem confident around these parts that it'll happen eventually, but that just seems to be their way. All very laid back here if you hadn't already noticed," she said with a grin.Huo: 3 | Shui: 3 | Soleil: 3 | Solomon: 1 | Euphy: 2 | Tala: 4 | Peregrine: 2 | Chessa: 2 | Spectre: 2 | Durama: 2
Despite having eagerly awaited this day, the adventurous cub arrived late, skidding to a halt and barely managing to keep herself upright as the softer sand gave way to the lap of water. For a few seconds she glanced around her as if to memorise this exact moment and then, with a whoop of delight, threw herself into the waves.
Up until this point she'd not spent much time by the shore. She had been a little cub at birth and though she had grown, weight was put on slowly due to the size of the litter. Her mother had allowed paddling but anything more had been met with a sharp, 'not so far!' and Tiamat, not one to openly disobey, had heeded the warning and trudged back to the sand. Now, though, the slap of cold water against her chest, face and belly took her breath away and she would have squealed in delight if there had been enough air in her lungs.
When the water was deep enough she shoved off with her hind legs and paddled out, puffing loudly as she kept her head about the shallows. Kick, kick, kick, kick...breathing was hard and, as time went on, burned in her lungs but, despite her size, she kept afloat - even when a couple of gentle waves rolled over her head and threatened to knock her off course.
This, she knew, would be one of the best moments of her life.Tiamat's Roll Rogue Breeding Cub Handicap - 5 No Bonus
