SIXTH TASK: Cure
Floating Leaf gathered a number of the pink flowers, and a few more sprigs of the green herb that were, as thought possible, along the edges of the pond. She held them carefully in her mouth as she headed back for her quiet little grove. The foxbun was resting. It gave a sharp look to the doe when she approached, but relaxed when it realized that there was no danger.
Floating Leaf sat to rest at the base of the grove, giving herself a moment to breath. Then she took to the task of creating the salve she knew the foxbun needed. She would need to find a large rock to use, against which she could crush the pink flowers.OOC Footnote Current HP: 1/30 Current Trust: 19 + 3 = 22 Section notes: Not gonna lie, just hoping to not die right now. She found a decent-sized rock with a mostly flat surface along the treeline. It took some work to maneuver it back to her work space, but she made her way carefully, trying not to hurt her scrapes. Unfortunately, the last dip between hills, the rock got away from her and fell the rest of the way -- and landed closer to the foxbun than either of them would have liked. The bun startled and huddled closer to the rock it had kept itself against almost like a stronghold. "Sorry," Floating Leaf tried to apologize as she made her way to adjust the rock.OOC Footnote Current HP: 1/30 Current Trust: 22 - 2 = 20 Section notes: Not gonna lie, just hoping to not die right now. Once she got the rock in place, she picked up one of the flowers she had and placed it in the middle of the rock. She stood above the rock and positioned her hoof over the flower, trying to assess the surface. After adjusting her stance, she began to work the flower along a ridge in the rock.
She sighed, and it slowly blended into a hum. She didn't realize that she was humming at first, but it was just as her mentor had hummed while working, so perhaps it was only natural that she had picked up the quirk.. The foxbun seemed to settle in her peripheral vision, and she smiled.OOC Footnote Current HP: 1/30 Current Trust: 20 + 1 = 21 Section notes: Still hoping to avoid death. ;; Progress Points: 20/30 (4. The flower was slowly but surely becoming a pulp, though it was clear that one flower would not be enough for the wounds the foxbun had sustained. Floating Leaf looked to her collection and chose another flower to add to the mixture, and a couple of leaves from the light green herb as well.
The foxbun apparently became curious, and came over to investigate the herbs. When Floating Leaf turned to add another flower to the batch, it sniffed at her nose -- then playfully bit at her cheek. Unfortunately, it found one of the scratches left by the thorns earlier. A surprising pain startled Leaf, and her vision faded.
...
She blinked blearily against the sunlight. Dazed and disoriented, it took Floating Leaf a moment to really wake up. Startled at her loss of focus, she startled up from her resting position. She glanced around her, but did not see the foxbun she remembered. She glanced at her legs, and saw no cuts. Had it been a dream? It had felt so real... She looked around her and realized that she was nowhere near where she had thought she'd been, either. It must have been a dream... What an adventure it had been...OOC Footnote Current HP: 1/30 - 1 = 0/30 GAME OVER. Current Trust: 21 Section notes: Potentially so close~ ;; Progress Points: 26/30 (6. The sun was bright beyond her eyelids, warmth growing against her cheek and bringing her out of sleep. She rolled slightly, making sure she wouldn't open her eyes to a blinding sun, and then looked around her. She was in a clearing, having apparently drifted off in the cushion of tall grasses. How long had she been asleep?
Floating Leaf pushed herself up to a sitting position -- and saw something move, quickly, out of the corner of her eye. She peered over some of the grasses to see a creamy ball of fur -- a small foxbun, just a few strides away. It blinked back at her, jumping when the green doe stood to get a better look at it. It was hurt; creamy fur was matted with drying blood. It watched her, almost defiant. It was badly wounded, but it was not to be easily intimidated.
She wanted to help it.

FIRST TASK: Bribery
She had to convince it to let her close, so she could see more of what was happening. Seeing blood was one thing, but she needed to know how extensive the injuries were. If she knew what was happening, she could figure out what the animal needed.
Looking around, she tried to find something to offer the animal. She recognized some small purple flowers nearby that she sometimes snacked on. Perhaps foxbuns liked them as well? She broke off a sprig of flowers -- and got a flower in the eye for it. She blinked, dropping the flowers and wincing. After a moment, she regained her composure and bent to retrieve the flowers. She turned to, carefully, offer them to the foxbun. It gave a cautious sniff, then decided to try a bite, and happily pulled them from Leaf's grip.OOC Footnote Current HP: 30 - 2 = 28/30 Current Trust: 10 + 2 = 12 Section notes: (6-8: You manage to find something the animal likes, but unfortunately, obtaining the bribe came at a price. The flowers were a good start, but the foxbun was still on guard. Perhaps she could get the animal some water to drink? Floating Leaf found a deep curve of bark and brought it to a small pool of water at the edge of the clearing they occupied. She was able to get a small amount of water to bring back to the small creature she hoped to help.
She placed the bark down beside the foxbun, who was still munching on flowers. It glanced at her. She took a chance and nosed at the bark, pushing it a bit closer to the tiny animal and becoming closer herself. It did not scare the way she expected, and she was happy to have a better look at the injury.OOC Footnote Current HP: 28/30 Current Trust: 12 + 3 = 15 Section notes: (9-10: Success! TASK TWO: Identification
Not wanting to start off by prodding the foxbun's injuries, Floating Leaf decided to examine the area they were in. With how much blood was caught in the foxbun's fur, she wondered just how much it had bled at all. She took some steps back, and saw a few red smears around the clearing after all -- a few drops of blood, and one larger area where the foxbun might have paused before to rest as well. It seemed the injury might be deep in at least one place for it to have bled so much.OOC Footnote Current HP: 28/30 Current Trust: 15 Section notes: Clues: 1/3 (1. Floating Leaf circled back around to where the foxbun was, careful not to approach too quickly. Unfortunately, even with her care, the grasses below grabbed at her feet and swished loudly around her ankles. Though she approached the foxbun slowly, it startled at the noises she was making and turned to bite at her ankle. Leaf jumped back and steadied herself. Clearly she needed to be more careful walking amongst the grasses.OOC Footnote Current HP: 28 - 3 = 25/30 Current Trust: 15 Section notes: Clues: 2/3 (5. Careful not to swish too much, Floating Leaf approached the foxbun again and decided to try and take a closer look at the injuries. She knelt down beside the creature, watching it carefully. It did not startle. She leaned in closer and nosed at its leg and hip, trying to follow where the blood was to discover the extent of the wounds. The foxbun, however, did not sit still very well, and instead turned to rub its nose back on her in an affectionate manner. That was very sweet, if not very helpful.OOC Footnote Current HP: 25/30 Current Trust: 15 + 3 = 18 Section notes: Clues: 2/3 (7. You examine the animal carefully and methodically. Finding no success at examining the foxbun's wound closely, Floating Leaf decided to step back once more and try to observe from afar. She watched the way that the foxbun moved, greatly favoring its side and not laying directly on its hip. The grasses opposite the clearing also seemed to be disturbed, which may have indicated where the foxbun had been injured -- perhaps they should stay away from that area.OOC Footnote Current HP: 25/30 Current Trust: 18 Section notes: Clues: 3/3 (1. THIRD TASK: Defense
Floating Leaf was about to see if she could approach the foxbun and investigate its wounds again when she heard a low hiss from the edge of the clearing. She knew that sound. She did not like that sound. She did not want to face the crocodile she knew was behind her, but she knew that if she did nothing, the foxbun would certainly not survive.
Reluctantly, she turned to face her fears. The crocodile was hideous, a deep inky green with gashes in its hide and sharp teeth. She did her best to steady herself, taking a deep breath for courage, before charging forward to try and strike the croc before it could strike her, or the foxbun. She managed to strike the crocodile, though it lashed with its claws as she did so and caught her ankle.OOC Footnote Current HP: 25 - 2 = 23/30 Current Trust: 18 Section notes: Leaf's Attack: 4HP Crocodile HP: 10 - 4 = 6/10 Crocodile's Attack: 2HP Bite attack: 1d8 damage dealt. Feeling pretty decent after landing such a good kick, Floating Leaf decided she didn't want to give the crocodile much time to recover. She whirled around and tried to bite at the intruder. FOURTH TASK: Escape
The crocodile was no longer a threat, but this was clearly not a safe area to be. Glancing around beyond the clearing, the doe realized that she knew of a place not too far from here that would be safer, that she trusted. She would need to move the foxbun there if it wanted to have a good chance of safe recovery.
Unfortunately, Floating Leaf was a little frazzled. She knew that she recognized this area, but she couldn't remember which direction they would need to go to find the place she knew was safe. She had to walk around the edges of the clearing to orient herself and remember where it was they needed to go. At last, she was able to spot a familiar tree in the distance, and knew that they would find a safe path if they headed towards it.OOC Footnote Current HP: 20/30 Current Trust: 18 Section notes: Distance: 0/20 (1: You're so frazzled by your previous encounter that you end up backtracking 3 units. Once she figured out which direction they needed to go, Floating Leaf needed to figure out how to get the foxbun to join her. She wasn't sure she wanted the foxbun to strain its leg, but perhaps she could help it. She carefully approached the bun and offered her nose, which it sniffed.
