Keeping his breath even as Sajahka leaned closer, it became apparent which of the two choices he’d picked. All that was left was to see where he’d decided he wanted to spend his kiss.

As fingers, and then lips, brushed against his neck, he couldn’t help the quickening of his pulse, his heart feeling like a stone being skipped across a smooth lake. Was he going to let himself sink? It undoubtedly was an alluring option.

And then teeth were pinching him. Just like that his heart stuttered, gasping quietly out of shock as he shivered. It… wasn’t an unwelcome surprise. But a surprise, none the less.

“You were told… you just got a kiss.” He tried to get control of his tone again, the breath from his nose ruffling Saj's hair. “That was a little presumptuous. I should dock you for that…” But he was so close, could feel the warmth of the heat from Saj’s nearness. His hand shifted, moving lower to touch where Sajahka’s had stalled… and nudged it a bit lower. “But I suppose you were being creative, so maybe you should be rewarded…”

Their encounters thus far had all been rushed and impassioned; it was invigorating to experience what it was like when they both took a moment to pause, considering every move. It really was becoming a game. And he found that… he was enjoying his opponent. At least things were interesting.

Leukos closed his eyes and tilted his head more, curious to see what might happen next, “You may have another.”

Sajah waited, feeling the heat of Leukos’ skin beneath his lips as he did and the skipping beat of his pulse. At Leukos’ initial insistence—you were told just a kiss—he snorted softly against skin, the words flitting through his mind: he hadn’t been told any such thing, just that he could have a kiss, not only a kiss, and that was what he’d taken—with perhaps a little flare for interest. But it wasn’t an important enough distinction to attempt to make himself heard, and when Leukos’ fingers touched down, nudging him lower along the man’s thigh, it was evident that his boldness hadn’t been taken with objection.

He smiled against skin, and at the permission, grinned.

His lips skirted first lower, drawing a gentle, tracing line of contact from the base of Leu’s earfin along the bared expanse of his throat. His hand, as encouraged, thumbed teasingly down and inward, making it nowhere explicitly private, but stirring the skin so as to leave the prickles of his attention in his wake and savor the smooth, warm swath of skin on his way toward the man’s hip. After his lips came to a brief standstill and kiss at his Adam’s apple, he lingered before pulling just enough back to meet the man’s eyes, and then eye his lips.

He hadn’t taken a full, ‘proper’ kiss yet since his wake up greeting. Since he had only been given permissions for ‘another’ which he took to mean one other for the moment, however, he held himself at bay to let Leukos make his call on how far to let things progress from there. He could feel the absent heat of contact there but moments before still tingling like a phantom presence on his lips, and they were so close.

The quiet left in the room as the two sat alone was undeniably charged with a sliver of energy. Not quite classifiable as uncomfortable, but tense nonetheless: hesitant but curiously eager at the same time. There was so much that had happened between these two strangers that it felt unavoidable. Yet as Sajahka’s fingers and lips traced along his skin so reverently, Leukos was finding it harder and harder to hold onto his feelings of loathing that had been festering so heatedly towards the other man. Maybe the soft blue moonlight was partly to blame: Leukos was a sucker for full moons, the way they cast everything in a more mysterious, alluring light.

So without really meaning to, he found himself shifting to sit straighter, hands moving on their own to reach out and touch Sajahka. One tracing along the small braid that snaked out from behind his ear onto his chest, the other cupping under his chin, brushing a thumb across Saj’s lower lip until it met the piercing there. Thumbing it gently, Leukos tipped Saj’s chin up as he leaned in closer, speaking in a velvety soft whisper, “Go ahead…”

Sajah felt curiously adrift—held in a moment of limbo like the seconds before a dive where everything hung in wait, saturated with energy but paused just for the moment at bay in anticipation of answer and resolution. While generally he was observant and attentive to his surroundings, in this particular instant nothing existed beyond the small section of bed that he and Leukos occupied. Leukos’ pulse and breath and body heat were all he felt, and when Leukos’ fingers touched down, tracing and catching beneath his chin to tip it, his skin came alive in the wake of each touch, prickling to attention.

By the time the words came, Go ahead… he needed no further prompting.

He tipped forward in all but the same breath, closing what few inches remained between them to catch Leukos’ mouth against his, and all of him that could be part of the kiss was: his lips of course, but also his hand, skimming further along and up Leukos’ leg until it could hold at his hip, his body, leaning in with it to fill himself in Leukos’ space, and his breath that skirted out from his nose before his lips parted—just enough to give a single, encouraging tug to the man’s bottom lip with his teeth.

If he let his hand slide just another inch forward, the tips of his fingers would be curving to just rest at the upper rise of Leukos’ arse. With some concentrated restraint, he left it where it was at his hip for now.

Warmth crept up from Leukos’ chest and up into his cheeks, like little bubbles of champagne that fizzled and tingled on his lips when Sajahka pressed in to kiss him. It didn’t take much more encouragement for him to part his own lips, adding more heat to the kiss, his own tongue making up for the lack of the same muscle in his partner’s mouth. And soon Leukos’ hands were moving, one sliding down to hold along his waist and grip. The other pushing back to cup Saj’s ear fin, tilting the man’s head to rub his lips along his cheekbone, breath warm as he kissed the ridges of his opposite ear.

The smaller man’s body just felt right notched against him, pressed close as fabric rubbed against Leukos’ bare skin. And while his size felt familiar, there was more power here than Leukos was used to―Saj having more taught muscles than the usual slender boys he took interest in. This was the body of someone who was used to hard labor. And though the many warm kisses were causing a sensation of cotton clouding his mind, the strength that he felt as Saj’s calloused fingers gripped at his hip, perilously close to intruding upon a more private area of his, gave Leukos a moment of pause. His eyes flickered open as his lips stalled, catching the gleam of one of the knives on the end of the bed.

He’d forgotten about those.

His fingers clenched at the fabric on Sajahka’s waist, body stiffening as he inadvertently murmured into the other man’s ear, “Where’s the last one?” He drew his face away, woodenly leaning back enough to shift further out of Saj’s embrace, looking him in the eyes. Putting thoughts to words felt more difficult than it ought to, breath still husky from pulling away so suddenly, but stuttered slightly from another emotion that had welled up, “Where’s the last knife?”

When Leukos’ tongue ventured, Sajah felt his earfins warm in spite of himself, an excited-anxious thrill bubbling under his skin as such intimate attention in an area he was decidedly lacking still felt new—foreign, strange, but enticing in equal measure. Leukos was still the only person ever to kiss him, and it was an adjustment to accommodate his boldness in such areas. He let his eyes shut when Leukos’ hand moved, stirring heat in the path of his fingertips and making his skin prickle to attention. His earfin twitched, pulse quick and alive in his chest at being held so near, and Leukos’ scent — familiar and enticing — was everywhere about him.

He felt it, though, when Leukos paused. The familiar hesitation was impossible to miss, stalling the other man’s motions, and when he pulled back, there was a clear glint of renewed concern there.

Where is the last knife?

Ah.

Sajahka held the other man’s gaze as he debated, but in truth, it didn’t take much deliberation. He was already here taking his risks, and if they were going to fight each other he would have expected it to have happened already. So, moving carefully so as not to startle his tense company but not nervously himself, he took Leukos’ hand, drawing it back, shifting his own weight up onto his knees so that Leukos’ fingers could come to his thigh and back—there. He tapped the tops of Leu’s fingers, now layered over the final knife still belted into place. The smallest one of his, but perfectly functional if drawn.

«Take it, if you need for your nerves. I trust you not to kill me.» However foolish that trust might prove to be.

In the silence that fell between them as the advances were stalled, the pounding rhythm of his heart was the only thing Leukos could hear filling his ears. Perhaps he was being too cautious, perhaps he was just paranoid; but with everything that he’d been through, he felt that a healthy dose of caution should be allowed for him. And as his fingers closed in around the hilt of the final knife, he felt a warm rush of relief fill his chest. Slowly, he pulled the knife out of its sheath, leaning back to put enough space between them as he rose to his knees as well, the modus operandi between the vast difference in their heights being restored.

Leukos eyed the knife he held, the razor-thin edge that caught the light as he turned it. “Trust is something that’s important to me. I like to think you’ve earned back some of that tonight, even if things got off to a rocky start…” He looked down at Sajahka, resting an arm over his shoulder as he snaked fingers into the hair at the back of his head, grinning, “And I’d like to get to know you better. Especially…the skills you claim to hold with your mouth. So I’m going to let you stay the night.”

Then the fingers tightened in his hair, craning Saj’s head back to expose his neck as the knife rested there, locking his gaze with the other man’s, “But if I wake up alone again, and any of my things are missing, I swear by all the old gods and the new; I will hunt you down to the very court of the king of Oba, and no number of his guards or soldiers will stop me from taking something far more personal from you that will be sorely missed.” He tapped the knife against Saj’s lips, loosening the grip in his hair a tad, “Have I made myself crystal clear?”

Sajahka watched the path of the knife with absolute intent, tracking its progress by feel until it was within his range of vision and then keeping his eyes locked to its gleam—until Leukos’ arm came to rest at his shoulder, and his gaze flicked up, meeting his. Fingers strung into his hair. He was pressingly aware of their restored height difference. He was sure though, that that was no coincidence, and Leukos likely derived some comfort from it.

At I’m going to let you stay the night, his pulse managed to get nearly all the thrilled stutter to it that one might expect from an anticipating teenage boy.

Then the grip tightened, pulling until the column of his throat was bared to the night air—and the steel of his own blade. He should have been afraid, and perhaps he was. It wasn’t that he didn’t take the other man’s threat seriously. But he found, for better or for worse, whatever cool sliver of well-placed concern there was within him, the adrenaline and thrill of the danger in the moment far overrode any objections he might have had. Thus, instead, when the blade touched to his lips, his yellow eyes flit to hold Leukos’, and his mouth stretched, briefly baring teeth in a lopsided show before he puckered his lips to kiss it.

«Perfectly, Butterfly. But how will I resist giving you reason to come see me again?»

As blue lips touched metal, Leukos’ heart did a little summersault of its own will, puffing out a warm column of air through his nose in a humorous pseudo-laugh.

What a cheek.

He did pull the knife away, tossing it over his shoulder unceremoniously to clatter somewhere on the floor near the bed. “That’s a topic that can be broached in the morning.” Hands now freed up again, he pulled at one of the ties in Saj’s hair, unwinding the braid to let the aqua hair wash over his shoulder. He twirled a finger there before bunching it in his fist, using the locks to pull Saj along with him as he leaned back, back lying flush against the bed in the dark pool of his hair.

“Right now, I think we’ve had quite enough waiting,” he purred at the man above him, shifting his knee higher to rub along Saj’s thigh, “Time to see how you perform with an audience that’s not swimming in alcohol.” He pulled him down for a glancing kiss, nipping at his lip in parting before releasing him, scooting up the bed so that the other Matoran’s face was flush with his abdomen. “Be warned: I’m a notoriously tough crowd~”

For half an instant, Sajah’s brow furrowed as his knife was tossed aside, the words, I paid good coin… flitting through his mind. But it was hardly worth signing. He’d stolen the coin to begin with, the dagger was unlikely to be damaged even by such careless treatment and, perhaps most importantly under his current set of priorities—he moments later did not care even if it had been bashed or damaged; Leukos’ fingers were on him, and the words out of the other man’s mouth, he couldn’t have agreed with more.

So, grunting with acknowledgement, he let himself be tugged, leaning readily into the kiss, shutting his eyes as he was guided and savoring the scent of the man beneath him as he touched his lips to his abdomen, navel, just beneath it…

And so it was that he went about attempting to please the ‘tough crowd’ beneath him. It would be an exercise in fast learning, but not — he suspected — a disappointment.

He wasn’t wrong.
