Loroth was waiting for the first challenge the flight would bring and was fully ready for the abrupt change in direction the Queen took. Winging after her, he chuckled in delight. He knew that this one would take them on a merry chase. Where you lead, we shall follow, lovely Uridith. Loroth knew better than to get cocky and try showing off so early in the flight. These were not short and easy hops that Queens required. They were tests of all that a dragon was. So though tempted to be flashy as he was doing fine for now, Loroth would refrain.

Avroth wrinkled his muzzle as other dragons closed in, he was tempted to lash out but that would have wasted precious energy, that and he suspected that violence wouldn't be appealing to THIS queen.
He made a grab for her as she dived but was too slow, it had taken him too long to realise what she was going to do and she was already off and away as he turned to follow.
Clever Uridith, Wise and Strong. Come, be mine, let's not dally long.

NPCs - R'yer and Bronze Korvath
Korvath rose and spun and twirled with the rest, bellowing his excitement and eagerness into the rapidly cooling air. All of a sudden She broke free, darting between the mass of darker bodies to streak away towards the landscape beyond the weyr. There she goes! He cried, half in joy, half in panic, knowing that he was not at all agile in the air. Nevertheless, he angled his wings, tensed his shoulders and twisted his body with the most heroic effort to bring himself around at his best speed. The air strained against his wing membranes, making the bones of his wings vibrate with the effort of holding all the force of the wind and directing it where he wanted to go. With several heavy wingbeats he managed to correct his course and with a triumphant bugle, he shot after her, starting the chase.
Down in the weyr, R'yer shifted awkwardly in his chair, feeling a sympathetic ache in his shoulders as his dragon practically doubled over in mid-air in a move about as acrobatic as R'yer had ever felt him accomplish. "Typical... you put all your effort into this, and not your training..." He grumbled but with an affectionate tone as he felt, and heard, the mass of dragons pass by over head like a rushing tornado. "Well, have fun..." He murmured, resolutely turning back to his book but without any realistic chance of getting through its pages tonight.

NPC V'Kenti & bronze Takarath
So perhaps Takarath had been a bit too ready as he had zoomed past Uridith. But thankfully he always kept his eye on the prize. Unfortunately, in order to make the adjustment required an amount of dexterity he didn't have. Some of the males did some fancy manuvers to adjust their course with the gold, he had to swing around wide but thankfully his speed and strength meant that he didn't lose too much ground.
V'Kenti sighed as his eyes followed Takarath until he was out of sight. His book was clenched in his hand tightly as he fought the flight lust. But, with as strong as Taka had started out, perhaps he should play his part as well. Leaving with book still in hand, he let his feet wander where ever they may. To his surprise, he found himself outside a door that already had some waiting. Figuring he had subconsciously found, he managed a grunt in greeting and kept from doing anything else. He naturally was a calm person, more often than not he'd logic his way out of something. But, with a sigh, he added his own knocks on the door.

Kindeth hadn't expected the gold to suddenly break through the pack, and take off over the caldera. Kindeth knew he was behind, but the flight had only just begun. Surely, very surely, he'd be able to make up for it. Uridith was worth the wait!
So it was, the male turned to follow, trying hard not to get too far behind. He wanted to crow out his love once more, to somehow impress the great lady, but right now he decided to do his best to try to catch up. Maybe he could get past some of them. Maybe, he would yet catch Uridith's eye.
All in due time, love. His rider gave the dragon some encouragement, not yet so taken in by the flight lust. He could feel the cool air, and yet his feet were still firmly on the ground. So it was, he looked around the Bowl, trying to find the gold rider. She wasn't out there, so where?
Her weyr? Maybe. Now to remember which weyr was hers . . . oh bother.

Grenth focused his sights on the queen, trying to ignore all the other males swirling around them, so he could keep his eyes on the prize of the evening. Through the flashing bronze and brown hides, he caught sight of a glint of gold as the queen slipped sideways and broke away from the pack.
With an answering bugle of his own, Grenth turned to continue following.

Well well well, well done to those males that managed not to crash or tangle with each other in their efforts to follow her. She made sure to glance back (though only once!) to see which were reacting quickly and which were more frazzled, sure signs of which would make a strong, healthy clutch. But then, it was her place to look forward, not back—to always fly towards the future!
She swept out over High Reaches Hold and banked. Not left, not right, but up. She was still far too near to the ground, she felt, and Lestenna had to agree. They'd gotten amply far from home now, but longer was always better. One of these males had best have the stamina to hang in there, and to help her fly back when all was said and done, because now was the time to get up, get out, and give it her all. This way, my little comet-tails! The sun has set but I'm still here; come let me be your guiding light, your moon, and show you your path! Now isn't the time to topple like some old tower—it's time to see how the world looks to the stars, my loves!
Lestenna could have shaken her head at the gold's verbosity. She was certainly putting on a show for them now, but her rider approved. Even flying straight, nothing fancy, would tire the lesser males out soon enough. It was important to thin the pack. A knock (or two!) disturbed her almost meditative-like state, and high above Uridith trumpeted at the sharp thrill that took them both by surprise. Now scowling somewhat, she stood from her chair and crossed to the door, yanking it open to regard the slowly congregating gathering of strained or dazed riders standing about. Or wobbling, almost. Through her dragon's eye she caught a glimpse of brown as she eyed one, hanging unusually close despite the competition, and a flash of bronze as she raised a brow at the other. He'd even brought a book... She sighed and stepped back, motioning each of them in to join her. A quick glance down the hall to see if any more were bumbling up to her door...she'd just leave it open for now, she decided.
The menfolk were led back to the room she'd been in before. A sort of foyer, it had been populated with chairs, which she gestured for them to take (hopefully without tripping over the furniture) before resuming her own semblance of resting. Of course, merging her mind back into that of a lusting dragon screaming through the now-night sky was anything but restful, but she refused to let it shake her composure.
Uridith is trying to gain pure height now. Remember that it falls to the male to carry the female's weight once she makes her choice, so flying too high is somewhat dangerous, but it's also a long-held superstition that the longer and higher a flight goes, the more eggs will be laid. Uridith's rider is very old-school, and she and the gold both are eager for a large impressive clutch.

His last turn had caused his wing membranes to strain against the wind, trying to catch back up to her. The joints at his shoulders ached from the strain and he had to pull back on his power, letting more of the males dart ahead of him and towards her. He heard her words and they rang true in his mind, there was no need to tire himself out yet, for right now he could bide his time and watch. If he allowed himself to tire out from the chase, what kind of clutchmate would he be.
He careened slowly upward, taking the turn and using his large and powerful wings to take slower bursts as he pushed himself forward and up. All the while his eyes never left Uridith as she rose, a true star upon the now darkening sky. Oh how he wished to embrace her now, but he would continue to bide his time.
A'dras had stretched himself out onto his bed, his eyes closed as he lent his strength to Gareth. He had felt the tearing in the shoulder joint and he focused more then he normally would have. This was a chance for the dragon to accomplish something great and he was not going to slow him down, he would do whatever it took to help him.
He trumpeted after her, answering the Gold's call with his own. The twinge in the joint of wing and shoulder did not go unnoticed, nor did the throb in one of his eyes. Threadscore marks were hard to ignore during the flight, /Lovely lady, a guiding light you are, and we will follow you./ Unlike T'at, Ness was a charmer, and despite the pain that thrummed through his body? He would continue to fight for her. He had been close, but climbing was not his strong suit. He was made for speed and stealth, for moving through the night without being heard. His wingbeats as he followed were strained at best, pushing him upwards as his Rider bolstered him silently. Poor His.
T'at accepted the invitation in, moving to sit in a chair and curl a leg up against his chest. His nose wrinkled as shoulder and right eye throbbed in pain, combining with the lust that threatened to rock him backwards. Biting deeply in to his lip, the man only nodded his head once, fingers moving to grip at the back of his shoulderblade, trying to send Nessuth whatever he could in order to allow him to chase the best he could. /We'll be alright, Ness..../

NPCs - R'yer and Bronze Korvath
After his truly impressive attemot -impressive for him if not for the others- Korvath angled his wings and beat steadily, chasing the shimmering gold beauty higher and higher. He could have syretched himself, gone faster and harder, beaten theose around him in the assent, but just as surely as the other males knew, this flight was far from over and it would be foolishnto waste all his strength too soon. The faint ache of joints briefly stretched to their max served as a reminder to him that stamina would count just as much as raw power. R'yer's voice filtered through his lust-swirled thoughts. Easy my dear. Don't push yet. You have a long way to go. Korvath appreciated the reminder, it was rare for his rider to actually speak during a mating flight, though granted he was usually after a green and R'yer didn't see a point to it. And made his opinion clear to his bonded. But this was Uridith! Their golden Queen! Korvath was pleased even R'yer realised how different this was. She is so beautiful! He thrilled back at his rider as his wings beat with powerful strokes, his body thrumming with the joy of the chase. How she flies for us! He sang, giddy.
The sheer power of the dragon's emotions and lust were rapidly wearing R'yer down. The text of his book swam before his eyes and his body ached all over, a kind of too-full feeling as if his dragon were trying to join him in his own body, or fill him up so completely that his own self was pushed out. Shutting his eyes tight he tried to control the sensation, to keep his thoughts in the here and now, but he felt the air, sharp and clean, as it blasted past his leatehry hide and under his huge, cupped wings. The power in his tendons and muscles as he drove upwards, spiralling around and around, chasing the bright gold shimmer highlighted against the darkening sky above. Without realising it he found himself stood before a door, his book held forgotten in one white-knuckled hand. Blinking dazed green eyes he struggled to keep a grip on himself, to stay grounded on his two legs, within his own skin and its many scars, to see the stone walls and wooden door, rather than the bright gold Queen amid the diamand studded sky. Something hit the side of his leg and he turned, dropping automatically into a chair without really seeing it. "Sorry...... to intrude...." He mumbled as he dropped his hand into his hands, the book landing on his lap as he barely missed smacking himself in the frehead with a corner. He had to remember! Two legs, two arms... not wings and wind and golden stars.....

NPC V'Kenti & bronze Takarath
Takarath was ready this time when she made the sudden change. His eyes were always on her so when she shot up towards the sky, he did so as well. Strong wings carried him up and up. You are the only star I need in my sky, Uridith.
V'kenti followed the other into the room slowly and found himself sitting in a chair, his body stiff. The book was held between both hands but he stared right passed it. The corner of his mouth quirked up at Taka's words. Boy was he really trying. "Thank you, Lestenna.

The young bronze was trying hard to keep up. When the gold suddenly took off higher, the young bronze gave another roar of challenge. He could do this! He could do this, he could do this, he could do this! Though his young wings were already burning, he ignored it. He wanted this gold. Uridith was the most lovely, most fetching of ladies in this moment. His purple eyes whirled quickly, and he tried hard to follow.
See how strong he was? See how wonderful? He didn't say as much, trying hard to make it past some of his competitors. He wasn't last, but he wasn't first, and that was where he wanted to be. Right up front.
S'del, for his part, could feel the wind in his face, and though his shoulders ached, he was as determined as his dragon. The flight lust was taking over, and he barely saw a few others make their way to the young goldriders weyr. Or at least, it was someone's weyr.
He thought he was grounded enough to make sense of his surroundings. Following a few men, he made it to a small corridor, and saw an open door. Perhaps that was it. Half-blind with dragonlust and his beasts determination, S'del all but stumbled through the door.
At firs all he saw was his competition -- a mix of man and beast. His face made an obvious grimace, a silent hiss, though that was more Kindeth than him. But finally, his eyes landed on Lestenna. No longer did any of his competition matter. He didn't care who was there, so long as she was present.

T'nor and Bronze Tarenoth
T'nor lent his dragon his strength and made himself comfortable where he was. Tarenoth soared up after her effortlessly, his wings beating steady and strong as he climbed up in the sky after her. I will prove myself worth to you lovely Uridith. He said to her as he continued to stay with her in the flight.

S’kint and Bronze Loroth
If we are comet tails it is only because of the brilliance of yourself. Loroth winged after the beautiful gold.
S'kint tried not to roll his eyes at his dragon's words. Why did his dragon always become so sappy during flights. While S'kint would have liked to hole up somewhere as the goldrider didn't need a old man breathing down her neck, Loroth's prodding did not allow for that. So S'kint, instrument in hand, followed his instincts and eventually found the lady's place of dwelling. He was not surprised to find a gaggle of men already there.
Settling close enough to be present but far enough away to be respectful, S'kint prepared to wait. It would be a while yet before decisions were made. He held his violin up to the lady presiding over it all in a query.
