✺Forgotten Son EC: 100
"My lady, it would be the most obvious conclusion, seeing what I see in the mines and farms--" here the workers whooped--"hearing what I hear in the streets from poets and the like--" now it was the artists' turn to mumble and weep silently to themselves with glasses raised. Dixon had made sure he gathered all his living vouchers there with him tonight; he would speak not a world of the military force growing as a result of certain agreements with the Lady Chhatrapati and Lord Xerseis of Phobos. "--and nothing gives my heart rest as much as knowing these things are being done at an incredible rate: our mines are strong and we have the wings of gods under us... Ah. But that must bore you terribly. Suffice to say, then, that this is the Ethe we will greet the world with. If it please the Steward of our crown, please allow us to continue our cabaret here in fair Titania so that, in time to bloom, the riches of our noble drones, friends of the sky and coated with gold bands, might come and pollinate the flower of Tomorrow's Ethe--may it never bend weary stem to cold ground; I, for one, shall not recognise the weight of the blooming head..." The count took a sip of his wine and gestured for the group to follow him. He was so excited to see it again!

Baroness Youkimi Kai True to form, he spoke openly and included the crowd around them. He made no effort to hide their conversation, but on the contrary, suggested pride in his region and his people as well as all that they had accomplished. She was not bored, but this did not seem like the occasion to speak about the semantics of a party, the meaning and image he portrayed, how he intended to bring about the vision he so boldly painted before them all, and also to the extent he expected these celebrations to continue.
Lest she steal from the spotlight of his event, she merely inclined her head to him. When offered a drink, she took a glass, and she joined the toast. However, if one watched her closely, it would be noted that she didn't drink much from her glass at all. A few might have wondered if she tasted it, but given the excitement and the novelty of color and the largest party thrown since the volcano, how many would have taken in the detail of the baroness' drinking choice?
"May this new year continue to bring prosperity to fair Titania and to our beloved Ethe." She offered as she lifted her glass in turn, also acknowledging their country. It was partly for show that she added to the toast, but it was heartfelt nonetheless. She wasn't as openly charismatic as Dixon was. She left it to him to rally the morale of the people. She only hoped that the exuberance did not burn Ethe's growing flame too soon.

✺Forgotten Son EC: 100 All smiles, the count led on and most of those there in that circle followed to the estate. The band's sounds faded and contorted as the walls and corridors shuffled around them. He led them to a small room, clearly used to store things that piqued his interest: bones and slabs and shells and all manner of archaic armaments found in his time of cleaning the mines. He seemed to spill over with excitement in a small gesture.
"This," he said, waving a hand over a small chest, "is what makes it so easy to believe in Ethe." Like a baby he held it, cradling in his arms a large, raw diamond. This was a rarity even for Ethe's mines. "I'll bet all my success on the beauty of this stone."

Baroness Youkimi Kai After her toast, she had every intention to slip away, so as not to appear as though she was playing favorites. However, whether it was subtle social cues or the way the situation played out, she found herself following the count back to the estate and away from the celebrations and festivities.
It was to her surprise that she saw what he was so proud of. It was a remarkable find, indeed. It also made sense that such a thing was not openly displayed. Perhaps it was best to consider opening more trade routes, as she earlier began to consider in the day. But, while trade in most countries progressed well, efforts were slower in the kingdom of Bellris. She moved this higher on her list of priorities.
"It is very impressive," she acknowledged. Quietly, she hoped that it would have more of a purpose than as a decoration to be cuddled.

✺Forgotten Son EC: 100 At first he awoke with a start, not knowing if he was going to live or die or perhaps being thrown into today's count's mind as an astronaught catching a ride by magically phasing through the windshield (is that what you'd call it?) of a shuttle whose life was only good as long as it cleared the atmosphere; speed of a comet, heat and yet chill--what with the sweat--Dixon Titanus broke the barrier of silence and the gravity with which it held the houseguests that morning was unable to be viewed the same since. His hands came slowly from his face, and, with the sweat returning to his wintry skin, he made his way to the foyer to check on breakfast.

"Ah! Good morning, my lord!" Dixon nodded to the peculiarly bright Bernard. "Might I convince you, finally, on this silvery morn, to try our freshest--"
"--The man will brew and the lord shall imbibe: my morning prescription for ever, good Bernard." A sigh from the help and he was away. The others who had decided to stay were served whatever they might imagine, as long as it was within the power of the land to provide; all these things from plants could be provided with ease with the estate's power. Breakfast could include some cured meat as well, but that was something of a delicacy, a treat, now. Dixon regarded them with all with a calm nod, their presence somehow steadying him, and sat there a few elbows away from the nearest two on the edge of the table.
"Sorry for the lack of anything," he began, "I hope it hasn't soured your stay." He offered up a smile as payment for their interest in his estate as shelter. Truly, to have such company was a privilege even for him.

Lady Chusi Chhatrapati350EC clothing: PaleChusi woke up in a particularly neutral mood with her dark hair wild around her head and a dry feeling in her mouth that she found odd. She swung her legs over the side of the bed she had been provided and went over to the mirror in order to fix her hair as best as she was able before straitening her clothing again, as best as she was able. She had not been expecting to spend a night here and had attempted to fly how, but thanks to the howling wind she had been forced to retreat back to Titania to her dismay. With another look at herself in the mirror she saw herself as satisfactory despite being unable to change into new clothing, but that was to be expected with such unexpected events. Lady Chusi walked down the stairs and looked around, her eyes catching on the butler for a second before catching on Dixon. She would smile warmly at him despite the chill in her bones and she would bow her head to him, folding her hands in front of her "Good morning, Count Titanus" she said to him before she took a seat. Lady Chusi seemed to be a bit more tame in the morning as she was not just polite but seemed to follow the rules of etiquette rather well, as she slipped into the native Ethen tongue as she requested some white rice with whatever vegetables were readily available along with some soymilk with a kind smile on her face. As she would wait for her meal to arrive she would look back over at Count Titanus, slipping back into the common tongue "Was your night peaceful your lordship?" she asked him.

Baroness Youkimi Kai The storm hadn't been expected, she admitted. It was not a terribly long flight from here to either Kaishin or out to the capital, but given the weather condition that even her bravest vassals decided was better not to face head-on, she decided to linger in Titania.
On the morn, she woke and dressed, putting on a simple robe and wrapping a cloak around her shoulders that was lined with fur. She made her way out to the eating area, and when asked about what she wanted, she requested simply fruit and rice. She ate simply, if but for the sake of convenience and that it was easier for those supplying the castle to trade and buy grains and food grown in Ethe than to strain resources and trade for cured or dried meat. However, she allotted a portion of the budget for the care and to everything the queen wanted, so as to better assist the queen's recovery.
"Good morning." She bowed slightly to those already in the hall before sitting down. "I didn't expect the storm... do you think it will stay?"

Alistair DrosselmeyerAlistair did not sleep much that night. he arrived at the estate of the count almost before the storm. once more the barrier was a shield that protected the people of Ethe. He sighed as the sun lit the sky tho he did not see it braking through the clouds. he would have to talk to the people that had stayed. Alistair looked at his hands the desire to run once again in his veins, but he did not spend all those years in school, and that last year learning just to run away. he was the goddamn second prince of the empire." his hand turned into a fist. he placed his jacket on and fallowed the noise he heard. walking down to the foyer he found a group of people already there. there was the lady he interrupted when he went to speak with the goddess. there was the lord of the house. and the woman taking care of the queen. if anything he was around a group of people that he should definitely be wary of. " it might stay... it might be a omen." he did not sit down and rather stood looking t everyone. he needed to figure out a lot in a short time. for the good of ethe, for the good of the Empire"

✺Forgotten Son EC: 100 One by one, the most prominent players in Ethe, seemingly, assembled there in that foyer with the fantastic breakfast nook. Dixon was already setting up--each morning, don'tcha know, it was a race between himself and Bernard and the meal team here and the Titanic Estate. Lady Chhatrapati was first, looking quite lovely with her new accessory--though Dixon hadn't the nerve to call out such a delightful smile--he might scare it off!--then his confidante and inspiration, the Baroness-Steward Youkimi Kai, and finally the esteemed and--was it... dour?--Prince of the Empire Alistair.
Dixon slid his pen to the side and traded it with a fork to start on his ham and eggs. The smell of breakfast, of preparing in the coziest, most sure way, was the flavor of the nook's fair medium for conversation. A chair was slid out at the simple gesture of the count.
"Please, sit," he said to Alistair through his glass. He turned his attention to the whole group. "Yes, rotter, mm," he said, quite disinterested in the minutia. "Whatever it is--if it's more than weather--House Titanus will stand, I can assure you." He smiled, seeing Bernard readying something in his hands.

"My lord," he began, "this morning we have word from the esteemed and noble Duke of Phobos Lord Xerseis." Before he had finished relating the letter, the count was a pile of chuckles under his napkin.
"I shall enjoy writing him back," he cooed. "Thank you, Bernard."
"Of course, my lord." And the butler excused himself, leaving the nobles in the room--and one royal--to themselves.
"My night was... A bit rough, I must admit," he said, leaning most of his attention on Chusi. "All the more reason to focus on to-day, I say. Fortunate to have such company to enjoy it with." He smiled, taking up his pen again and beginning to twirl it in hand.

Lady Chusi Chhatrapati350EC clothing: PaleChusi couldn't help but giggle at his remark, her hand covering most of her mouth, only the lifted corners showing before she brought her hand down "it must be the storm is it not?" she asked him as she used chopsticks to pick up a shredded piece of carrot and eat it. She would finish chewing and then swallow before speaking once more "I have never seen such a storm before, I was worried it would be much worse then what we have" she said just before Youkimi walked in followed by the blonde man calling himself Prince. Chusi couldn't stop smiling and it just seemed to light up her face "Cousin, its good to see you!" she said to Youkimi....they wernt actually cousins... whatever the relation it was far removed, but still it was less pain to say cousin than to say whatever the actual relationship was. She then went back to her food, picking up the bowl and moving it just a little upward before she continued eating.

Baroness Youkimi Kai As the food came, she newly requested a small portion of beans to eat alongside some rice pudding, if some could be spared. As the conversation commenced, she greeted them all with a polite nod. Her smile brightened at being recognized by kin. "Likewise, thank you."
She began to enjoy the meal, simple and sweet. The unflavored rice did well to silence a rumbling stomach. The natural sweetness of the fruit helped to enliven the morning. Fruit, if had, had previously been preserved, canned and saved from their very rich harvest. She enjoyed each bite deliberately and carefully.
She didn't know what to say concerning the storm they had lived through. She heard the chill was manageable, but even she couldn't deny its effect on her. She dreamed, that night, of her father. And it was the deepest rest she had in years. She felt truly and deeply safe.
"May this meeting help assist future endeavors." She offered. She inclined her head to the arriving prince, greeting him without calling him out, as she couldn't admit knowing him terribly well. They had not been properly introduced, so she didn't feel it was her place to begin a conversation.

Alistair Drosselmeyerhe smiled when he heard the words of the baroness. He finally decided to sit down. he did not feel like eating.[color-firebrick]" The wall of fire shall be gone soon." He said in the most somber tone he could mustered. He looked out the window. at the snow and the fire wall. " I had a conversation with the goddess last night. It seems its time for Ethe to stand on its own legs before the wall that protect us finishes killing us." he looked at all the guest and the honor of the estate. wondering how his words would be taken.

✺Forgotten Son EC: 100
No doubt they were all justified in thinking that things were in a rough way for them. Dixon could see and feel what they felt, and made no effort to pretend that things weren't that way for people elsewhere--not just in this cozy estate in the country's artistic capital. He nodded to both Lady Chhatrapati and Youkimi's assertions--of pragmatic attribution and hopeful encouragement respectively, surely--knowing that they did not need addressing. The entrance Alistair into the fold--that is, as he finally seated himself among them (there was a word for fellows like him in Ethe's western provinces, and Dixon chuckled with a knowing smile as he came)--and brought with him a news he obviously had been concentrating so intensely to hold on to...
"If this is true," said the master of the house, feeling a certain tide of severity latent behind the foaming curl of what the bi-special man said, "... --if it is so that Ethe is being called to stand, we should take it on faith that our Goddess has the confidence in us to do so--to make it so." He almost lift a glass at the sound of the idea; after last night, he settled for a pen. "I should like to ask why it was you were speaking with Her Grace again," he said flatly, concentrating on penning a response to his esteemed draconic acquaintance for just a moment; looking up and... "--was it not satisfying, then, the little--" and here he waved his pen around in the air, catching the end of it in his leathery hand as he bridged his elbows and hands over the top of his plate turned workspace--"how do you say?--diversion of yours turned out to lose its charm? From where does the wind blow, that snuffs out the candle of interest? Wherefor art there no clouds in the sky to obscure that which illuminates the once trite?" He was, after all, a fan of the theatre. His dark eyes came to rest on the leading women of the country.
"For my money, it is the best reassurance to have such strife at our door. Surely you understand me when I say that struggles are the only proof of valor."

Lady Chusi Chhatrapati350EC clothing: PaleAt the mention of the goddess Chusi seemed to awaken more to the light and her polite happy face seemed to turn down. She instead took a deep breath and placed down her chopsticks "I have much lost my appetite" she whispered as she waived for a servant to take away the rest of her food, the fourth that remained. The prince being in Ethe made her not so happy either. However she had made improvements on her temper this last year and in stead she put a smile on her face and pretended to be happy "Once the barrier goes down Ethe will be ready for the world again."

Baroness Youkimi Kai ... Partway through eating, the baroness heard what the prince decided to make point of conversation. He spoke with the goddess? The wall would soon fall?
She straightened in the seat and turned to look at the prince. Her expression had fallen. There was fear and hurt cleverly masked behind her eyes. How...how had he come by this information? Had he spoken with the goddess with the specific intent to persuade her to lower the wall...? What had brought this about? Why in the world did he not speak to her?
What led up to this discussion? What led him to speak to the goddess in the first place? What was his intent?
He thought the wall was killing them?
She lowered her spoon to the bowl and waited for his reply to the count's questions.... Were this not a matter she found deeply disturbing, she would have excused herself from their company. She could barely keep her composure as these thoughts tumbled in her head and she struggled to know why.
Why?
