Everyone was looking at him and he swallowed. He was a brown rider, he needed to look everyone in the eye and be loud. Be clear. He took a deep breath and reached blindly for Deldowth. Surprisingly, the dour brown gave I'sko the strength he was looking for as he spoke, his words slow as he thought them through and tried to convey his idea.
"When someone mentioned that... Fire stone didn't affect males like females. There are plants like that... That women take every month and that beasts eat even though it's bad for them. Fire stone must mess with the..." Here he flinched and kind of circled his stomach with his hands, miming a belly or the innards of a woman.
"There are also plants women eat and that they feed beasts to make them have babies. Maybe... I know dragons eat meat... Maybe they will eat those plants?" There it was out in the open and he slouched a little, waiting for those others to make fun a cot hold boy. He was still a boy even if he was a brown rider now.

She pressed her lips tightly together. Sh'shi might say it, she might even believe it. Moluli had been around Weyrs long enough to know the greens were the least respected. The smallest and most numerous of dragonkind, quick and agile, but without a lot of stamina. Holders might give all dragonriders respect, but among themselves she privately felt greens really got the short end of the stick.
Now was the time to change that. Their last hope rested with these newly hatched greens. She'd do all she could to bring greens into a higher level of respect. She listened passively to the next bit. It didn't really matter to them. There was no gold. If there was then everything would be different. They wouldn't let their greens try to clutch.
They had to make it past weyrlinghood. One step at a time, she told herself. For now she'd focus on raising the best Starelth she could. I will do everything you need Starelth. Just tell me.
I will, Starelth gave a soft hum of approval for her rider's determination.
Moluli pointedly ignored V', her rude gesture, and her annoying words. While they'd been talking another question had been tickling the back of her mind, but she'd lost it. She was sure she almost had it, but it tantalized her just out of reach. Instead she focused on I'sko. As he spoke, she realized she had asked that question. She wasn't sure how relatable firestone was to plants, but it might be one explanation. Moluli found it amusing he flinched as he indicated a certain womanly part. Boys.
She opened her mouth to say something, then closed it. Plants to make them have babies. Their dragons were probably too young right now. It could be a possibility later? Or should they wait to see if the greens clutched at all first? The dragons didn't have eat the plants directly either, she thought. They could feed it to the animal just before the dragon then ate them. Shards! She wished she could remember her question.

V' turned to look at I'sko with her brows knitted tightly together. "Yesh boy, ever kissed a girl?" Those were some very awkward gestures right there. "But, whatever on that," she made a dismissive gesture, "guess that makes sense, the bit about the preventatives. 'tween if I know what the shaff you mean about the dragons eating plants that people give to beasts to make babies though. Only contact I got with a beast is when it's on a plate. Anyway," V' turned back to Sh'shi and gave her a direct but not outright confrontational look, "What you said about golds, I'm guessing we greens here aren't being given that role? The domestic duties and all that. How is that going to work going forward?"

"Indeed." Sh'shi paused a moment as a flush coloured the weyrling's face. "Being born into a situation you have no power to change where everyone expects you to be a certain way, before they even speak to you. I'm sure nobody here could understand that." The old rider looked at V' for a long moment before she turned her gaze to the rest of the class.
A thin eyebrow raised as V' dismissed the topic the rest of the class was discussing. She blinked a moment, then looked to I'sko. "Essentially, yes. Firestone doesn't seem to cause a change in male dragons. Likely for the same reason that there are methods human women can use that do not cause the same changes in men. The systems function differently." I'sko wasn't the first weyrling to be made uncomfortable by the subject of sex. Hopefully by the time they'd gotten to the point where she needed to start giving them the dragon rising talks they would all handle the subject with a tad more maturity. Fortunately, she very rarely had to explain to a weyrling how babies were made. By the time most were old enough to stand they understood the basics.
"As far as feeding them any plants," Sh'shi had no idea which plants he was referring to. That was outside her skillset. "any decisions of that calibre will be being made by the dragonhealers after lengthy discussion. If you've got a suggestion feel free to contact them to present it." There was no harm in suggesting after all. "Now, for your question." Sh'shi looked back to V'. "As I mentioned earlier the former Weyrleaders of Ista and Igen will be covering the duties of both Weyrleader and Weyrwoman for the foreseeable future. How that is going to be decided in the future will depend on what happens going forward, but for now domestic duties will be split between the two of them."
