Yelping as her feet left the ground, Rho grabbed tight to Kian as they rose up. Windmilling her arms as she dropped, she glared sharply once she had her balance back. Then she saw her crossbow though, and her irritation turned into relief. She hurried to pick it up and dust it off. Good; nothing had hurt it.

"It's a li'l late ta be lookin' fer blood," she huffed, hooking the crossbow to her belt. "Now, I'll be lookin' fer clues ta find where that scummy blood went." Glaring again for no particular reason, she turned to stalk off toward where the camp had been. The area was empty of the tents that had been there, but there would still be something to find, surely.

Kian rose a brow, "So clues to go and find a chance to go lookin' fer blood?" He repeated her words with a slight frown, "Will revenge really sate you though?" The hybrid walked alongside of her as she headed towards the camp's location, "Not to sound like a saint or anything considering it's not really my cup of tea but I've recently learned that sometimes it's best to just let things go so you can look to the future."

He shrugged, "Still it's also good to get closure and I'll accept whatever you want to do." Kian smirked, a hint of the ole darkness in the expression, "Would probably do the world good to get rid of such vile people and could save other families...and if you're wishing to do something for Justice then I should see it through with you." He owed the world some goodness after all considering all the darkness he had brought to others throughout the years. The hybrid's bi-colored gaze shifted and he took a deep breath, "Let's go explore this damn camp so we can get out of here quickly before something else happens. If you can find anything that has their scent, a trace of them then I could do a tracking spell but it would take some time for the winds to come back to me with a trace of something." If they had even left anything because currently it looked like the area was empty. Kian frowned as he walked away from Rhonann, "Can you see decently enough or is it too dark?" Dusk was quickly approaching after all and the shadows of the trees were only growing wider as time continued to press the sun further beyond the horizon.

"Sure feels like I'll be pretty happy after I kill 'im," she snarled. The back of her mind whispered something about morals and justice, trying to agree with Kian's words. However, that part was overdone by the anger Rho carried within her. "Justice will be him lyin' dead with a bolt in his face!" Stomping toward the empty camp, Rho felt the frustration settling in. She had missed this chance to get that crummy scumbag...

'..I should see it through with you.'

Rho glanced back at Kian with a confused look. Kian had mentioned such a desire, but that had been before. Did.. he really mean it still? "If you want," she murmured, her grump a little less grump than before.

The sand was tramped down with footprints and dotted with holes from tent spikes. Little else seemed to be remaining. The only clue to be had was the tromping tracks that lead off to the west, but the wind was making quick work of covering those. All she had was a direction. "I can see fine," she snipped. "I can see there ain't nothin' here!"

His lips pressed into a tight line at her words. It was frightfully reminiscent of how he once carried himself through life and the hybrid found that such memories did not settle well with him, especially not when such anger was present in Rhonann rather than in himself. His gaze shifted with what could have appeared to be faint concern before he looked away as if to study the ground around them, "Mmm." The faint agreement was the only sign of his reaction to her consent of his desire to stay with her as the mystic was still focused on the grounds of the camp. While Rhonann was getting frustrated over the lack of tents in the area he seemingly was uncaring as his fingers skirted over the blades of grass near his feet.

"Sometimes you just have to look a bit closer at what is surrounding you." He replied before plucking a blade of grass and holding it up, "Someone must have had a mishap while quickly throwing their tent up." Kian smirked towards Rhonann, "Thankfully you have a high-level mystic with you to help make those footsteps more worthwhile." Snapping his fingers runes rose from the pouch resting on his belt and with a few whispered words in an old language believed to have been lost ages ago in the mountains of Zena. The wind seemingly whipped around them and the blade of grass was swept upwards by a gust before settling back down in Kian's open hand, "The wind has a taste of the blood and as long as we keep this with us..." He held up the grass blades to show Rhonann, "Then I should be able to continue checking to make sure that these footsteps haven't changed direction on us. If it's revenge that you want Rhonann then it's revenge that you get."

He brushed dirt from his clothing before striding forward so that he could stand next to her, "Though my recommendation now is to find a place to rest so that we can cover more ground in the morning..."

Look closer! Rho snorted and crossed her arms, watching Kian do.. something... mystical with magic and runes... and a blade of grass. The wind could taste the blood? ..This magic stuff was weird. "Thank you for being useful," she huffed, still quite irked about everything. "Damned right I'll get revenge," she boasted from the encouragement. In the back of her mind, the statement was a little flat, but the heat of the moment kept the fire alive.

Glancing up as Kian drew near, Rho snorted again. "Pretty sure we slept enough in that pit," she huffed. Still, her body ached from the fight and napping without any sort of blanket. After all, that really had been just a nap... "Do ya know anywhere close by, or'r we roughin' it?" she asked without actually taking back the previous statement.

"You're welcome." He replied without missing a beat, "You're just fortunate that I'm well versed in an array of things." Kian smirked faintly before turning on his heel so that he could try to think about where to rest. Even if the wind wasn't exactly sniffing out the way he could still reassure her while tracking ahead whenever possible. All he had to do was read the winds as they came through and hope that they carried the noises that he had heard before when the camp was here. There was also a certain smell of fragrance that made his nose wrinkle at the memory of it - perhaps that ringleader had a fondness for some perfumed oils that really did not settle well with Kian's own senses. It was too sweet, sickeningly so, and that was really what he was looking for whenever he scouted out the areas ahead.

"We could continue forward and hope that there's a tavern up ahead or we can find the next clearing and tough it out there." He replied quietly as he shifted his own travelling bag on his shoulders, "If you prefer to 'rough it' I know other ways to go about it though that probably will make you even more exhausted than you already are." His bi-colored gaze gleamed teasingly as he studied her with a wry smile before turning away, "Personally I've dealt with enough forest creatures for the day so let's keep going until we find a real bed to share."

"Yeah, so fortunate," Rho murmured. In truth... she knew she was in part fortunate for his talents. What if he was following her around without any sort of skill? She would probably be dead already! ..Although, with no skill, she would not have allowed his company beyond one day.

Stalking behind as Kian led the way, she found herself watching the man intently. Seriously.. what was he doing here? Why did he want to help her? What drove him to show his face again after what had happened?

Brow rising as he spoke up again, her eyes darted away with a snort. "Let's see 'bout two real beds. Ain't sharin' nothin' more than a room with ya, if we even do that." At talk of a real bed though.. Rho felt herself weaken slightly. It had been so long since she'd had anything to sleep on other than the roll on her back.

Kian smirked, "Oh come on, Rho." He glanced towards her mischievously, "It wouldn't be the first time that we've shared a bed. We've slept together on the ground, in a bed, on the back of a wagon - or was that someone else? - either way I'm pretty certain you won't die if the inn only has a bed for one." He rolled his gaze before picking up his pace, "Hurry along now if we're to get anywhere before tomorrow morning!" Or rather it was more like he better hurry along before she shot him again or smacked him with that damn crossbow of hers.

Walking along in silence gave Kian plenty of time to just ponder things. It wasn't like he had to be here with the Sautian - that much was assuredly true. Still it was his duty, wasn't it? He had caused her pain in the past, gotten her in some trouble, and almost allowed her to die. Quite a bit list now, isn't it? To think just a few years ago he had simply thought he was messing with someone that couldn't remember anything! That had been a rather entertaining scenario. Of course he had to go along his way but not until revealing the bitter truth of his ploy - something that started off their rather eventful and slightly unorthodox relationship. Kian's mouth quirked upwards into that teasing grin before he forced his lips down into a frown. No, no that won't do. He had felt a little remorse for that trick after all when he had began reforming himself. Now that she had her memories back the hybrid was far from remorseful since it had allowed them to get into whatever this relationship of theirs was. I never was a prince charming, was I?

Not that he could say that she had his heart or anything yet. Just his interest and surprisingly his concern. His golden eye glanced to her while he finally marched on ahead to where spirals of smoke announced nearby buildings, "Seems like there's a village as promised." He grinned before noting the familiar outline of a tavern just up ahead, "Sure you don't wanna just cuddle up under a tree somewhere? We can keep each other warm - something that works wonderfully well if you're pressed together skin to skin." Without missing a beat he raised his hands, just in case of a well aimed smack, "Buuut then again I should go ahead and see what rooms they have. You can go sit at a table and get something to drink, I'm sure you're thirsty if not hungry as well."

Before them awaited the tavern, its wooden doors opened to allow in the crisp evening air. As they approached the bustle of a typical evening crowd could be heard with tipsy and rather drunk patrons calling out over each other as a faint melody, probably from a traveling bard, flitted here and there through the night sky. Smells of smoked meat and other delicacies managed to drown out the less welcomed aromas of sweat and dirt from all the travelers who were sitting down for the evening. As they passed through the door a man may or may have not been thrown from a window, to the cheers of many, and Kian could only chuckle, "Here's hoping the rooms are a little quieter."

Rhonann gripped the handle of the crossbow tighter, glaring at Kian's back. "Ain't me gonna be dyin' if there's only one bed and ya try sharin'." she huffed, shifting the bow into a more comfortable but still prepared hold. Never knew when she might need to shoot something, or someone...

The silence of the walk was both frustrating and welcome. While she wasn't in much of a talking mood, the quiet allowed her mind to go into areas it didn't need to go. She needed to focus on finding her prey. What had happened back there? Had Kylldra even been at that camp? Could Kian really guide her right? Was Kian really back? Was he just going to vanish again when she turned her back next?

No! That didn't matter. Whatever Kian did, her goal was Kylldra.

She was pulled from her thoughts as Kian spoke up again, eyes lifting to focus on the town ahead. Huh. At least the hybrid was aware of the danger he put himself into.. Aiming a punch at the protecting arms anyway, she turned to head for the tavern. "Just get us them beds." Her sour mood relented a little when the delicious smells finally reached her nose. So hungry for something that hadn't been dried for preserving... Her head snapped around when a man crashed to the ground and a sharp smile rose. Maybe she could let off some steam here...

For now though, an order of a strong drink and a hearty meal was going to go a long way in improving the level of her day so far.

"You're right, obviously I would be dead because surely I would be in heaven then." Kian couldn't help the tease that easily slipped from his grinning lips. Even if it he got whacked for it the hybrid couldn't resist the urge to see those cheeks darken with a rosy flush! Just like they had so many times during that lovers' festival and throughout so many other situations in the past. A hint of regret, of wishing that he could have changed his mind that night when he had left her and of so many other things, dared to twist his chest into a painful knot and Kian found his grin slipping away. It was hard to be so mischievous when one had a lot on his mind and when one also had changed so much from the dirty b*****d that he had been before. Or at least he would like to think that he had reformed some. So far he was still with her, right? That was one good sign that he was serious this time.

Such thoughts were quickly placed aside as he entered the tavern. Immediately the smell of roasted meat and warm bread caught his attention, his mouth actually slightly watering at the thought of food, and he found himself raising a hand as eyes turned towards him. Kian could only smirk slightly before waving, "Hey." He called out before walking towards the front counter where a portly older sautian was drying some empty tankards, "You have any empty rooms here?"

"Not many rooms are fer rent, but we got one. Don't expect room service or anythin' but if you're willing the bed is at least good. We keep them clean and the mattress is freshly padded." He placed his drying cloth and the tankard on the counter and held out a well calloused hand, "Costs a few coin though since its the best room that we have."

"I'm guessing only one bed?"

The man raised an eye, "Do we look like a family oriented inn?" He chuckled, "Sense of humor I see. Take it or leave it."

"Fine." Kian shook his head before handing over some coin, "But I want extra blankets brought to it and fresh water so we can freshen up."

The tavern keeper raised and eyebrow before shrugging his shoulders, "No concern of mine what ya do. Just costs a bit extra and ya can have a meal tonight before restin'. Yer companion looks like she'll either beat a man or eat a buffet so I'd offer the meal so yer safe unless...well I know you'd probably li-" He was filling up two large tankards that foamed wonderfully at the top and it was Kian's movement to grab them that cut off his potentially lewd words.

"A meal is fine." Kian tossed another coin, "Bring plenty of mead." Gods knew he would need it if he was going to make it through the night in this place. So much for the finest inn around. He shook his head with bitter amusement before pocketing the brass key and slipping into a seat next to Rho, "Order up. I've got mead, bread, and soup coming." He stated simply before pushing a full tankard towards her.

Rhonann rolled her eyes heavily, but mostly to avoid acknowledging that her cheeks did indeed flush red at the comment. "Ye're so weird," she huffed before taking her seat.

Kian was so damned confusing! She wanted to trust him, and that desire continued to eat at her mind. She didn't want to want to trust him! She should just chase him off before he had the chance to run. If anything, she should walk off in the night while he slept! Let him see how it feels!

Ugh. Then she would be no better than him...

Yanked from her thoughts when Kian sat down, she sighed and rubbed at her face. She was ready for this! Grabbing up the mug, she tipped it back for a few hearty gulps. Good and cold! Sighing contently, she wiped her lips and glanced at the bartender. "Ya sure was chatty with the guy up there. Did ya get a couple beds, too?"

Ah, there it was. Kian couldn't help the grin that spread across his fine features as he ventured away from the table to talk to the owner of the tavern. As long as he could get that sort of reaction from Rho then he had hope. For whatever it was that he was hoping for....honestly it was still a strange situation as he had a lot of things to sort through as well.

As he settled back at the table with his own mug and the food was delivered to them Kian nodded his head, "We have a room with a bath even." He replied opting to dance around the truth. If she was so intent on separate beds then he surely could sleep on the floor or find a place outside of the tavern to sleep tonight. Despite his desire for a comfortable bed and a sleeping partner the hybrid was determined to give Rhonann space. But for now he would just focus on the warm meal before him and then when they headed upstairs the truth would be revealed and she could either kick him out or settle for something different then.

A small smile crossed his features as he plucked at a piece of bread, "Get your fill since it seems we'll need plenty of energy for the upcoming days." He quipped lightly before settling back to fill his own grumbling stomach. Tracking down a wind earthling like Rhonann left little time for a good meal and his body was eager to devour something good. The stew...obviously just the stew. Kian shook his head to clear it from any other thoughts and made certain to only peek up towards Rhonann on occasion as he ate.

Whatever suspicion Rhonann might have felt when no beds were mentioned was washed away with one word. "A bath?" she asked, eyes bright and hopeful. How wonderful would it be to have a good soak in something that was not also transporting fish and other people's waste? Kian would have to be locked out of the room if the bath was in the same space, but if it had its own private room... Oh, she was ready for this!

Reality settled back in sharply, and she turned to focus on her food. The upcoming days... She could only pray that the upcoming days would prove fruitful for her search. Tearing off a chunk of bread, she dunked it into the stew before stuffing her mouth. Torn between savoring the meal and wanting to scarf the whole thing, Rho managed to accomplish both by overfilling her mouth to require thorough chewing. It tasted like it had been made for a noble compared to their usual fare.

Glancing at Kian once in a while, she cleared her throat during a brief clearing. "Thanks," she murmured quickly, stuffing more bread into place before she could speak any further sentiment. A full belly, a hot bath, and then a cozy bed.... Just have Kylldra's head on a spike standing next to the table, and she thought she could call herself happy.
