Chiara Moteku Field Study
Chiara figured she might as well do the field study, since the tealblood adult was running it, and the blueblood was getting kinda annoyed with the adult's behavior. She helped! She helped all the time! So she did it sarcastically sometimes, it was all in good fun.

Chiara Moteku Field Study
Chiara read the results of the studies. There were some on wind, and some on water, but most were on things she didn't really care about. The hard part was putting the enthusiasm in her voice whenever the tealblood adult was around.

Chiara Moteku Field Study
Yep, another twenty minutes spend studding this... field. Great use of time, Chiara grumbled to herself.

Chiara Moteku Field Study
Chiara wrote down the results of another study, and with the last measurement taken, finally felt like she was almost done. The blueblood looked down at the list, and frowned. Nope, more to go!

Chiara growled as she had to do yet more measuring! She wanted to impress the older woman, but man was her patience being tested.

Finally! Chiara was finished! She wondered if her field study had taken so much longer because of, past events. Tealbloods, Chiara thought to herself, annoyed.

Guess: C-B-M-W Despite having paid utmost attention to the engineer's explanation of all the various components, electrical currents, and circular power dangers, Kerras regarded the parts before them with no small amount of trepidation. Tentative, they picked up a wire. They set it down three seconds later, in favour of another. After a moment, they put that one back down as well. For two minutes they did this, selecting wires and then changing their mind at the last second. At last, holding their breath and visibly wincing, they attached it to a conductor. It clicked into place. Kerras breathed a sigh of relief that nothing exploded. The mysteries of technology!

Kerras picked up another wire to connect it to a matching port. As they did though, they brushed it against another component. Sparks flew and they received a small electric shock. Their body spasm and they knocked their previous connection out of its port.

Kerras' pump biscuit raced in their chest from their near brush with death (a wild exaggeration). The engineer's macabre warnings during her explanation flooded their thinkpan. But if they quit now, they would look like a coward! They couldn't do that. Their pump biscuit had begun to settle. Determined to see the exercise through, Kerras leaned back over the circuits. They had lost their work, but it would be easy to reattach.

With the first wire back in place, Kerras tackled a second. Their eyes followed its path of origin and then, nodding to themself, they attached it to a conductor. Once more, nothing exploded. This time they did not even get an electric shock.

Several minutes later, Kerras had fully immersed themself in the project. While technology might not have been their forte (only a few months earlier they had ogled at Calida's prosthetics), circuitry was something they could wrap their thinkpan around. Even if they did not understand why or how it worked, they at least understood the physical patterns. It was a bit like solving a puzzle.

Score: 5 Kerras lifted the circuit board over their head. It glimmered in the moonlight, a shining example of electrical perfection. Their work was complete! Without so much as a word, Kerras passed it to the tealblood and dashed away, cheering.

Garand lit up the moment Loulah introduced herself and started in on his questions, and the longer she talked the happier he got. He was still grinning even now, a whole night later, because she'd said she would show him things. He couldn't believe his luck! There was a little bounce in his step as he hurried towards the Lightseekers booth, and he gave Rouxes a very quick and polite nod as he reached for the power converter he'd been working on before.
As soon as he had something that looked like it might work, he carefully set it back down and nearly tripped over his feet in his haste to see what Loulah had set up. And wasn't this just another dream come true? A real chance to learn the things he was interested in, but more hands on than anything the libraries could offer.
He got to work, determined to do his best and make a good impression of his abilities.

Garand considered all the pieces of tech laid out before him one more time, glanced at the notes he'd managed to scribble down during the instructions, opened his mouth to question Pan about something, and then closed it as he saw the answer himself. This might just be working...
