October 2017 Leviathan: Geology 1. Roll a d20 2. Student gets a rock type corresponding to the number rolled. 3. Pick a specific rock from that family, and post a picture of it! 4. Post a small RP response about how the student feels about the assignment. 5. ??? Profit!
Username: irishgirl1017 Student Name: Lokni Your Rock: Number rolled, The type (Igneous, Sedimentary or Metamorphic), and the name of the rock chosen
Response: Laughing at himself, Lokni felt like a dofus. He suddenly became interested in rocks, wanting to learn more about them due to finding a very unique looking rock while outside observing the weather. Since his studies in weather were not going so well due to classes being unavailable he figured he would take a class that interested him as much as weather and Geology was that subject.

Username: irishgirl1017 Student Name: Lokni Your Rock: 6, Sedimentary, Shale
Response:Lokni got down to business in the classroom. He rolled as instructed and was given Sedimentary as his rock classification.
Now to choose one specific type of rock from this classification and discuss it.
Shale, why did I choose Shale? Well to be honest I like the look of this rock and its uses are interesting. For instance this rock is can be used to form natural gas or oil if the composition of the organic material breaks down in a specific way. Another use for Shale is to break it down, crush it and mix with water to make clay, it can also make cement when mixed with Limestone.
Shale comes in Green, Red, Brown, Yellow, Black and Brown colors and is mostly composed of other clay sized materials such as Quartz and Feldspar.
I liked this assignment it gave me a chance to really research one of the classifications of rocks and I learned quite a lot by one small rock.

November 2017 Asterion: Geology 1. Roll a d20 2. Student gets a rock type corresponding to the number rolled. 3. Pick a specific rock from that family, and post a picture of it! 4. Post a small RP response about how the student feels about the assignment. 5. ??? Profit!
Username: Gin Rin Student Name: T'kani Your Rock: Rolled a 3, which means Igneous, picked tuff.
Response:
T'kani looked at the teacher, then at her furry hand, wondering for a moment if she should be wearing gloves. Shrugging and reaching into the bucket, she gingerly picked up a rock between her claws, pulling it out to inspect it. Well, nothing bit her for sure, but she wasn't quite sure what the rock was that she picked out either.
She took it back to her desk and puzzled at it for a while, taking notes while she systematically tried to classify it. Once she was certain about what it might be, she got to work with the write-up, including the ID number that was on the rock.
It was an interesting exercise, and this particular rock threw her off a bit since it looked like a sedimentary at first glance, but overall she was mostly certain with her categorization.
