Your Animal: Rolled 2. Reptile, Uromastyx.
Response:Iason knew which Reptile he would write about. One of his favorite Reptiles, Uromastyx. He adores this species and studies it to learn more about it. He would love to own one himself but according to his research they do not do will in captivity. Owning one and it passing away due to his neglience would way heavily on Iason's mind, therefore he has decided just to admire this lizard from afar.
This particular lizard is kin to the Kimodo Dragon, well sort of. They are in the same family, the Bearded Lizards.
This reptile is primarily herbivorous, but occasionally eat insects and other small animals though this is considered rare. A interesting fact about this species is that it can obtain almost all water they require from their vegetation that they ingest.
Though they can be considered lazy, Uromastyx's prefer to bask in the bright,
hot sun. They do not do well in a cold enviroment and will die quickly.
When in the wild they prefer to have their home in a hilly rocky area and it must have sizable vegetation to sustain their appetites. Don't let their size fool you, they can and will defend theirselves using their very muscular and spiny tail and if that is not enough to scare off the attacker they will hiss and and show teeth.
The females of this species are not a brightly colored and are smaller then the males. The females can lay up to 40 eggs but that depends on the age and which species it is. The eggs will be laid about 30 days after conception and will hatch within 70 to 80 days, most hatchlings will be between 4 and 6 ounces and about 5 cm from tip to tail. They will reach their full size within 8 to 10 years growing about 5 cm per year. Which is not much considering their reptile cousins.
