User ImageGiven Gram's opinion on the situation, Blake was surprised by the woman's actions, her choice to make herself known for the purpose of warning them of this impending doom. It was still hard to believe, hard to consider that something to extent of which she was speaking was coming for them. Gram didn't seem too optimistic regarding their chances; however, her comment on not wanting to be taken out by her people hinted that there was, in fact, a chance. That was enough to keep the Mage from totally becoming engulfed in dread. Natalia on the other hand, seemed to be thoroughly losing it. What did this mean for the people of her own kingdom, however? The people of Yuki and Eldrin? Yuki no Okoku was in the most immediate danger disregarding personal grudges. Blake was about to summon a Nevermore when Gram's hand wrapped around her wrist, and the woman pulled her in before teleporting. Despite now being used to the feeling of it, she really hated the suddenness of the act. The woman was left disoriented as Gram grouped them up an revealed Balmung. "What's..." Blake's voice trailed off when she saw an orange light in the window. In just a flash, her parents' home was destroyed, beyond any sort of repair. Everything was gone. Her gaze seemed far-off as the flames threatened closer and closer, the heat increasing with their proximity.

It's- it's already started? Everything mom and dad worked for... it's all gone. Gram was right, they're really going to pull out all the stops to exact their revenge... and it's really our fault? If they're already willing to use this sort of destruction, to cause this much damage... what was going to happen to everyone? She would've collapsed to her knees at this point had Rowan not been hanging onto her as he was. The woman still wasn't quite aware that he was back, in a state of absolute disbelief. How am I going to explain this to mom? She's gunna be crushed. What are they going to do? What are we going to do? Such reckless magic... Rowan's voice was what brought the girl back to reality, brought her to the fact that he'd kept her and Natalia from being overtaken in that attack. A spiteful smile formed on her lips as she gripped onto his shirt. He'd made it back... It's almost as if she wasn't allowed to enjoy these things, words an actions that would normally make the poor girl's heart soar sparked by such a despairing situation. The only reason he'd been holding her so close now was because of a fire spell that had totaled the Trinity's funeral home. It was the first time she'd set eyes on him in several day and because of this? This is... too much. What if other people had been here? If her parents had been there... And the one who'd done this was just up there laughing. The woman's appearance wasn't one Blake had expected, looking rather alive than like any sort of undead, almost normal despite her slightly different choice of clothing. If the timing hadn't had been absolutely perfect, she might've even thought that this was entirely different instance. As Rowan's voice rang out, the flames were eaten up by the violet glow enveloping his word.

Blake's hands flew to her chest at the sheer power and amount of mana that the ability transferred to her, gasping through her teeth at the sheer force of it. It was its own form of adrenaline, surging through her body and threatening to boil over. The massive amount of energy completely knocked the Mage out of her shock. Such power... this was stronger than the mana of dragons. What kind of magic was this? One of her arms fell back down to her side as the blonde tried to calm her panting from the sudden change, stepping away from her returned Knight, if he'd let her.
"This is..." She thought she'd finally gotten used to Night Slayer, to the sensation of foreign mana flowing and mixing into her own. This, however, was at a potency she'd never expected to encounter. I've gotta... I've gotta... A red glyph shined brightly within the ashes and debris, much brighter the her normal summoning circles. Blake wouldn't have even realized that she'd started inadvertently casting if it weren't for the light, needing something to do to filter out this overwhelming sensation. Holding out her hand, a little puff of feather-filled smoke began to drizzle upward from above her palm. She stared at it for a moment, looked up at the woman floating above them, and then over to her Knight. "Rowan... I'm so glad you made it back. It's... too bad that it's to this... but I really am happy. Thank you... for keeping us safe." The woman above them seemed to be a bit dismayed at Rowan's capability to absolutely negate her spell. Honestly, Blake had been a little surprised that he'd done so flawlessly, even powering her up in the process. It didn't even require a casting time, didn't require its usual beckoning. The Wrath, larger than it's usual size, had already formed from the spiral above Blake, screeching hollowly, angrily up at the one who'd just destroyed its caller's childhood home.

Natalia was rather surprised at Gram's sudden movement on Blake and even more so when they'd teleported next to her. An alarmed expression flashed across her face, as she expected the woman to attack her once again. She hadn't done anything this time! A dumb laugh escaped her, however, when, seemingly, the woman pulled her close. Oh, yes, that was all fine and good, but the dragon killer suddenly brandishing her sword made the white-haired woman properly petrified. Because that was when the house exploded. With the threat of immediate danger, her body became significantly more dragon-like, to the point where the two had first met her: two sets of horns, sharp claws on her hands and feet, dark scales crawling up her arms and legs, and her thick spiked tail trailing behind her body. She covered her face at the sudden blast of heat.

How were they not dead? By the time the dragon kin opened her eyes, she'd already realized that it was no longer Gram's body she was pressed up against but the built form of the one who'd defeated her. Eheheh...women are great, yeah, but there's something slightly more satisfying to this sort of thing, she thought with a subtle grin. The fire was moving in quickly, though, threatening to overtake the group and ruining her oh so very brief moment. Damned magic... A part of her remained curious about how something so explosive would've effected her given her inherent magic resistance. It was strong enough to deny her the ability to form a contract with a magus. There were still high-enough spells that could hurt and damage her. It was probably best not to play with such things, not now. She blinked. Night slayer? What was that? Her question was immediately answered, however, when the kid cut through the flames entirely... with his sword. Nat narrowed her eyes. That wasn't how swords worked... This was an ability of his, one that he hadn't used against her back on the platform. The dragon kin wondered if his lack of doing so was due to the possible reason that this was a magic-specific ability or if he'd been too focused on taking her down to use something that seemed so defensive. Yeah, I wanna know how you did that too there, Knight boy, she thought, backing away from him with an incredulous look. A bright light captured her attention. So, our little magic user wants to play too. This wench did just burn down her whole house. How many heirlooms were here, magic notes, spells? Eheh, how tragic.

"Yes, yes. We are all very happy that your bo-" she cleared her throat, "-that Master Rowan is back with us, safe and sound, but we have really got bigger problems right now. I told you they were going to make a beeline for us!" If... Natalia were to be entirely honest with anyone, the wolves the fae girl had summoned back in the clearing had been cute, hilarious even. She thought a couple muts could take down the dragon kin's men. That tree woman, on the other hand, was quite a sight coming from a bratty blonde like her. This thing, in terms of looks, was on a whole other level. Sure, the kid was a necromancer, but this thing looked like it could deliver death itself with a glance. Whether it was as powerful as it was intimidating, that was left to be seen. It's not like Natalia planned on crushing this one under its own weight too. Speaking of which...

"Mmmaster..." the term was still taking some getting used to, "Combat may not be a very appropriate task for a maid. No, no, no. Not at all, especially for one you have such high expectations for me.~" The dragon kin's blood lust was rising at the threat of a fight, especially at the thought of taking this witch of a woman on. And why wouldn't it? Even if there was a chance of her losing or even dying, it's not like it wasn't inevitable anyway. Besides, these were the kin of Gram, were they not? It was only natural... "However, household chores like taking out the trash are so very within my range of duties. I still have quite the headache from earlier, but it is not as though a competent housemaid like me can avoid her duties." She was basically begging the young Knight to let her at them.

A magic user. That means... maybe this is the time to try out that new item I picked up... Rowan thought to himself, watching the witch woman carefully as the two women at this sides began to speak to him. Blake expressed some sort of happiness at his return, and she seemed to be summoning a creature to help him fight. Natalia, interestingly enough, also seemed to want to partake in the battle with this woman. Rowan, however, knew the danger that this woman possessed... and was somewhat skeptical about what the two of them could do. "This isn't like most of the fights you two have probably been in. She uses high-level spells and is way better at spellcasting." Rowan stated, referring to Blake's inability to compete with such high-level spells. "I'm not sure how many spellcasters you've fought before, but she's not just some ordinary Mage." Rowan stated, watching as a small creature formed at the top of the woman's hat, yawning as it watched them with beady eyes. In response, Rowan put away Balmung, the blade turning back to normal as he stood there weaponless. "Just... protect her, alright..." Rowan stated to Natalia rather solemnly. There was no trust... but a sense that he was willing to give her a chance to prove herself to him. "You think giving up will spare yo-" She stopped mid-sentence, however, when she discovered that Rowan was no longer visible.

"Wha-" In the time before she could react, Rowan was already behind her, Balmung drawn and read to slice her. There was something different about it, however, that seemed to be rather curious. It was almost as if it was an apparition of the sword, hazy and unclear. For some odd reason, it did not seem sharp nor did it seem capable of causing damage if it were to strike. The witch, however, instantly had an expression of fear come over her as she realized just what he was holding, and her familiar transformed itself into a monstrous creature, ghost-like in appearance. "Kill him, quick! He's a Mage-Killer!" She commanded the beast as it lashed out at Rowan and took them both down to the ground, an explosive force behind the impact from the creature. "I thought it was strange that he cut my magic so easy... Who would have thought that one of them would exist in the modern age. Careless..." She gnawed at her lip in anger before holding her hand out towards Blake. "Yavin..." Was all she spoke as a high powered beam shot forth towards her.

Meanwhile, the familiar was keeping Rowan preoccupied as he moved around it in quick succession, slashing at its limbs and causing them to be temporarily destroyed. Whatever the blade was composed of, it was ripping apart the spirit animal and causing it to shrink more and more as they continued to fight. This thing's definitely the more dangerous of the two. Whatever she's doing, it's through this thing. I can see it... Rowan thought to himself, his demonic perception allowing him to see the link between the two's spirits. As such, he knew that most of her magic was stored within this over-sized monstrosity. "Which means killing this thing... will take away all of her powers..." He thought to himself as the two continued to battle, clashing with each other and sending shockwaves across the ground. His fight with this creature was far more dire than his other fights, as Blake would be actively risking her life the more this fight continued on. He had to kill it quick before something terrible happened to her.

User ImageBlake's expression fell into a flat one. Still as distant as ever... Whatever, that wasn't the issue now. Rowan was probably right, given the initial attack on the house. It's not like she could compete with a massive spell like that. Could this woman just fling those or something? She sighed. Even sounding so upset while mentioning me... Get over it. Get over it. You can fuss at him for being a jerk later. An Armament just told you that the world is ending, and sheer proof that is floating right in front of you! Look at what they did to the house! Bigger problems, Blake! Rowan had already moved, teleporting behind the woman with his sword at the ready. It looked significantly different than it usually did, however, like a ghost of itself. She had to fight her usual interest when it came to the man and combat. There wasn't time to waste. A blue line of light would shine in front of Natalia, forming an exact replica of the woman's weapon. Blake hadn't gotten a hold of the battle ax yet and honestly didn't want to touch it whatsoever, meaning that she wasn't sure of its material and simply using the strongest she had at her disposal. When the woman suddenly started yelling that Rowan was a Mage-Killer, the half elf had looked up with enough time to see the strange creature become a massive creature that looked as if it came from the ethereal realm. Th- that's more like what I imagined! Was it a summon? An image of the woman focusing her attention on Blake flashed through the girl's mind, a perspective from the ethereal guardian above her.Move.

Blake grabbed the thing's lowered arm before it pulled her out of the way of the blast, quickly flying the half elf closer to Natalia and away from beam. This was no where near a normal undead. She'd expected that from the beginning, but did that mean Blake's usual defenses against them wouldn't work? For some reason, the necromancer felt that the case. Physical damage, then... that usually worked with most enemies. Focusing on the woman, the Wrath dove down on her, ready to cut deep into the witch with its scythe. That's right... stay on her. Unfortunately, most of what Blake, herself, could do spell-wise from this point could be either called easily or was useless while she was just in the air. The Wrath was her only combative flying summon. There were other ways. A light blue flashed before her as she made a copy of her bow. This one didn't have any honing ability, but she'd spend the last two weeks working on her aim and just attempting to figure out how to be more supportive when it came to combat. At this point, her marks were pretty solid. The arrow she fired gave a slight whistle as it move through the air, following up on the Wrath's first attack. Now the thing was just attempting to wail on her, accepting failed attacks with a slight retreat before moving in again for more, attempting keep its movements irregular for the sake of dodging blasts.

Magic's tricky. I can't take my eyes of this woman for a second, not while she considers me a target. I know that, but... The battle between Rowan and this woman's creature was clearly intense, the shock waves their attacks had on each other said that much. Did that thing even take physical damage or was the only reason he was making any headway because of Balmung's physical...er... meta-physical properties? Just be careful...

"Yessir~!" the dragon kin chimed, giving a thumbs up before he teleported to the woman that had just destroyed the Trinity's home. The light in front of her held her momentary attention as it took on a very familiar shape to the dragon kin. She held out an open claw toward the manifested battle axe before, simply letting it fall into her hand. Her red eyes locked onto it for a moment before Natalia flashed the giver a toothy smile. "Miss Blake! How sweet! I would have never expected you to give me such a present!" Honorifics were not thing to the woman if meant being free to do what she want in a fight like this. Fighting all the weaklings in the world wasn't half as exhilarating as taking down a woman like this. Besides, they were natural enemies. It was only fair that Natalia appropriately represent her kind. Who struck first, who suffered more. It didn't matter. That was in the past. All that did was the resentment they held for each other's existence. These people... Taking out their age old grudges on the whole world. The term "Mage Killer" rang out over the property before the little thing on that woman's hat grew into something terrifying. Last she checked, he was a dragon killer... The sight of the dark creature increasing in size before taking Rowan with her to the ground, brought the Natalia to the conclusion that this might be a bigger fight than they'd imagine- and there was a whole race of these people?!

A bright light erupted the the magic woman's hand, pointed toward Blake. Heh. Something so slow? The dragon was about to move, having already made herself lighter, and grab the kid when she was already acting herself, having her skeletal...bird...thing... pull her out of the way and over to Natalia. She reached for the girl's hand when it placed her back on the ground, offering a more steady landing before the thing took off toward the she-witch. Grr... I want nothing more than to tear that woman apart, but if Blake is attacking with that scary-looking of hers, I can not leave her open to attacks by that woman. Gotta bring her in closer... "Oi! Excuse me!" she called out to the magic user. "It seems you put in quite a bit of work to arrange this play date! It would be a shame for you to waste such an opportunity by being distant, especially when these two have such a dignified dragon maid! Why don't you come and join us?" she pressed the last two words, focusing in one the enemy and using her Mega Gravity. If she was using magic to float, then it had a chance of being over powered to due the dragon's magic resistance. Natalia's first thought was that she'd either drop to the ground or flatten in her little floaty space. Either way, she didn't leave out the possibility that it wouldn't work, not after fighting the kid.

Duck, back up, sidestep. It's gonna slash from the right. It's gonna lunge. Despite the furious attempts of the creature, it could not land a hit on Rowan as he predicted what it would do every single time it went to swing at him. Thanks to his new ability, he was able to be one step ahead of his enemies in physical combat, allowing him to easily surpass mindless creatures like this thing. He was lucky that he decided to use the Soul Slayer for Balmung's base this time instead of Demon's Bane. By doing so, he was able to actually fight with the creature he recognized as an ethereal being. Even if destroying it doesn't kill her, it'll definitely make her weak enough where she won't be able to one-shot Blake with some over-powered attack. Rowan thought to himself as his blade clashed with the creature, ripping through its limb and causing its size to decrease once again. It seemed as though fighting ethereal beings with the sword caused it to eat them over time, enabling him to win as long as he prolonged the battle enough. I wonder what it'd do to an actual person. He thought to himself as he knocked the creature back with a blow, the witch's familiar finally showing signs of slowing down.

Meanwhile, the witch was dealing with the two people that seemed to want to fight her. Flying around, she managed to weave in and out of Blake's summon's attack range. It was a strange sight to behold definitely, a woman simply walking through the air and floating around as she moved around a creature. It was then that she heard the dragon woman speak, saying something about coming down and fighting them before she felt some sort of pressure exert itself on her. What happened afterwards, however, was that she simply flipped upside down and stared at the woman with a smirk on her face. "Tch, tch, tch. Silly dragonkin underestimating us. We're people of science, remember? Mass increasing can easily be counteracted by suspending yourself in a constant state of freefall. It doesn't matter how much you increase my weight if I'm always falling through the air." She stated to the woman, laughing at her lack of intelligence. "But for you, lizard brains, I'll make it simple. I don't weigh anything because people who are falling are "weightless" until they have an external mass to compare their weight to." She shouted to her, laughing the entire time. Obviously this nation of alchemists were pretty advanced in terms of science.

Quickly, the woman held up her hand towards the summon. "Let's show you what happens to bad boys and girls..." She whispered as she, without a word, fired a beam that pierced through the summon in an instant, ripping it apart and opening up the sky above by parting the clouds in a circular fashion. For those who had studied the sciences, they would recognize it as a beam of plasma, but to anyone else it would probably seem like a ordinary beam of magic, maybe even concentrated mana. "But if you're so eager to fight me, dragongirl, then let's see how you stand against this!" The witch stated, causing several massive sigils to appear around Natalia that would then cause the gravity in their range to increase dramatically, rather than mass or anything of the like. By increasing the strength of the gravity, even reducing one's weight would simply cause them to continue to be pulled towards the center of the sigil. "And for you, a special treat!!!" She stated to Blake, creating a massive orb of the plasma from earlier and hurling it at her.

Off to the side, it seemed like Rowan had gotten the hang of his battle, his clashes with the beast seeming to be more in his favor as it continued on. "Gotta finish this quick... otherwise that woman's gonna keep firing off massive spells like she has been..." Rowan muttered to himself as his blade continued to cut through the beast. He was, however, not getting anywhere like this. He would be too late if this continued on... and Natalia would probably be crushed by the gravity. It was in that moment, when it seemed somewhat hopeless, that a large white creature swooped in and caught the familiar in its jaws, instantly dispersing it in a fiery blaze of glory while eating it. Argent had swooped in, after the beam in the sky had alerted it, and promptly decided to assist Rowan's fighting the beast. In a sense, Rowan's pact partner, a familiar in a way, had come in and utterly demolished the chimeric creature he had been fighting. Almost instantly, the large orb of plasma dispersed and the gravity that was threatening to try and crush Natalia instantly came to an end, the witch shrieking with rage at her spells being so abruptly ended. Argent, meanwhile circled overhead and watched them all.

Again!? Never before had Natalia ever encountered someone that could negate her ability, but now it was twice in two weeks? Why?! How?! It was incredibly frustrating, leaving the dragon kin to only bare her fangs and growl lowly. A girl can't seem to have any sort of fun around here. Even going so far as to question my intellige- Well, to be fair, I only barely understand what she said, BUT-! Grah! Up until this point, the girl's creepy summon thing had been doing not a whole lot up against the woman. Having to watch something so sad but also... slightly odd, the way the woman just moved about above them like it was nothing. It wasn't like Natalia could accurately gauge the strength of the thing, but if it were her up there... Then the magic woman just vaporized the black bird skeleton thing as if it were made of paper, before she stated that she was taking Natalia up on her offer.

When the glyphs opened up into the sudden pull, her red eyes widened. She'd fought magi before. They were easy. Obviously, this woman was no normal magic user. That was obvious from the very start of this. Even against her natural resistance, the strength of this magic felt beyond what she'd ever encountered before. Natalia switched over her ability to herself, but it only seemed to be capable of wasting time. She clenched her teeth and pierced the ground with the end of her battle axe. s**t, this force is crushing... It's only a matter of time. Heh, wouldn't it be ironic if this took me out, hmm? Wench has a sense of humor at least. A bright light suddenly grasped her attention, a massive ball of not-good targeted on the Mage not too far from her. Whatever this thing consisted of, it looked the same as the spell that had taken out the half elf's summon. If that were the case... Crap, crap, crap. I can't do anything. I have to get out...of...th- Natalia's thoughts were cut off when Rowan's wyvern showed up like a mass of white of her peripheral, straight-up one-shotting the enemy's creature Rowan had been fighting. My god... Ehn? Upon the thing's destruction, the spell holding the dragon woman ended.

A rather girlish sound escaped her at the sudden change of forces that almost caused her to fall. After staggering forward some feet, a dark smile crept across her face, understanding. The defeat of her creature and her spells clearly upset the magic user. "Aaahaha! You are just like a Mage!" she enthused, launching herself up toward the woman. "You're weak on your own, aren'tcha?!" Making the axe Blake had created for her light as air, she began an onslaught of strikes toward her enemy.

User ImageThis was a little annoying. The Wrath was the fastest thing in Blake's arsenal of summons and one of the fastest things of the higher-ups of the Ethereal Realm, and here this woman was just dancing around its attacks like they were nothing. I know you can do this. Keep moving, faster. At first, it had seemed like Natalia was just egging the woman on while shockingly still playing at maid. In fact, it was kind of surprising that she wasn't lingering to far away from the Mage. She could've been taking this woman on, probably more effectively than the Wrath was, so why remain down here? The witch flipped backward and revealed the dragon kins intentions. She'd been using her ability, probably an attempt to get the woman to the ground rather than floating up above them. Ah, I see. I-is that a spell, though? Does something like that fall under one of the schools? She certainly seemed to have her evocation on-point, anyway, totally blasting away the skeletal guardian Blake had just summoned. M-my Wrath... That thing even rippled the clouds... Is everyone just going to blow away my summons like the're nothing? Natalia took out my powerhouse, this woman just disintegrated my Wrath. Geez, it's basically like my mana's being wasted. These aren't weak or easy manifestations! ...Ah, I'm really sorry. Have a safe trip home.

She didn't even get a chance to worry about Natalia when the symbols around her opened up because the witch was already casting another Evocation spell toward Blake. It looked slightly different from most Evocation spells she'd seen before, more compressed, more physical. Was it mixed with another school? At this point, it really didn't matter. This was the same type of spell that had taken out her summon, something much sturdier than the young woman. "If I-" A line of blue planes lit up, leading away from her current position as she prepared to be thrown. She had an idea that might help the dragon woman from getting crushed, but there'd be no chance at all if Blake was incinerated like nothing. Still, she wasn't even sure if this would be fast enough to save herself in time.

Blake's eyes widened at Argent's sudden appearance and outright eating of the magic woman's companion Rowan had been fighting. When the thing was destroyed, so was the giant ball hurdling toward her. The woman blinked as the witch cried out in frustration.
They're connected, then? Upon the realization, she let out a breath of relief and ran a hand through her hair. Natalia seemed to come to a similar conclusion, already pouncing on the magic user as Blake had expected her to in the very first place. Firing at this point seemed reckless. Without the honing, having an ally so close to the target made for a dangerous situation. Pulling her bow onto her shoulder, Blake decided to play stand by in case anyone needing healing sometime soon, ready to move just in case the witch had more tricks up her sleeve. She momentarily glanced over at her Knight, looking him up and down to make sure he wasn't injured in anyway. The battle between those two had been surprisingly fierce. "Heh, that wyvern's a bit of a life saver," Blake murmured to herself. Was this really what they were in store for? An entire civilization of people capable of magic like this? The sensation of the mana was beginning to wear out, and a sickening feeling developed in her stomach. I couldn't even touch her...

A smirk suddenly spread across her face as Natalia closed in on her, the witch lifting her head with a rather malevolent expression. "Weiss..." She muttered, symbols for water magic suddenly appearing around them as countless icicles began to form, creating massive ice spears all around the battlefield. "GrΓΌn!!!" The woman shouted out, creating massive amounts of wind around her body that acted like some sort of extremely powerful shield. Three schools of magic had been used so far, each one of a tremendously high level considering the amount of them. Additionally, she also seemed to defy the logic of the world, containing four elements that were aligned to her. As the barrage of attacks began to bounce off her wind shield, she simply laughed hysterically. "Weak!? WEAK!?!?! You think we're weak after millennia to prepare for our return!? You think I'll lose just because my familiar is gone!? I'll take you all to an icy grave you pathetic worms!!!!" The woman shouted, becoming much more violent in her speech and seeming lack a good amount of sanity. It was then, however, that something happened as all the spears were ready to fire into them.

"Purify this ungrateful creature and allow them passage into the next world." A rather simple but elegant voice rang out as a white light began at the center of the witch's chest. Surprised, the witch could do nothing but shriek as the white light grew and grew, enveloping her entirely and causing all of her magic to dissipate just as it had begun. The painful screeches were earsplitting as she continued to cry out in torment, all the way up until she was no longer in this world. All that was left was the scorched-looking witch hat that had sat atop the woman's head mere moments ago. As it slowly fell to the ground, the woman that cast he spell could be seen walking towards Blake's home. It was Cheyenne, and she looked rightfully furious. "Oh do tell me, honey, how your father and I go out to buy you some nice clothes to attend the ball tomorrow.... and we come back to find our home in ruin!?!?" She asked Blake angrily, starting out with a terrifyingly sweet voice that stressed the pronouns and moving into a rather furious tone that symbolized the discontent she was truly feeling."One time... one time is all that I ask. Ever since you met that boy, I've been unable to let you out of my sight without you obliterating everything I've worked so hard for. Teaching you, starting up your business for you, and now my home!? This ingratitude is frustrating, tormenting. How dare you do this to us! Do you know how long we worked to be able to provide this sort of life for you, how we slaved away!? Look how grey your father is before he's even fifty! Agh!!!" She screamed at her daughter, going into a rage-fueled tirade.

Meanwhile, Rowan had decided to approach Alistair, carefully making sure to avoid Cheyenne's line of sight. By this point, he had put away Balmung and was simply unarmed. "I'm guessing that you don't have some summer home you can stay at for a while... do you?" He asked him rather nonchalantly, as if the situation at hand did not pertain to him in the slightest. In reality, however, that would probably be the case. Those witches were after him and Gram... so they probably would leave the Trinity family alone if the two of them just disappeared into the night or something of the sort. "I guess you two had some pretty good timing though. I was honestly hoping you'd be back a bit sooner though. I didn't expect to have to fight that woman's familiar for that long..." Rowan muttered, unhappy with the speed at which the two of them had tried to make it back to what was once their home. "I'm sorry I couldn't save the house..." He finally muttered to Alistair, looking to the side slightly as he apologized for the first time about something less than a life.

User Image"Wait... Water magic?!" Wasn't it a fire spell that she'd used earlier? That wasn't possible. The ridiculous level of different schools was hard to believe enough, but an outright defiance of how the way the world worked? Sure, if one had all the time in the world like they did... they might become quite advanced in many schools, but that would do nothing for their born Affinity. Blake was about to throw up adamantine where needed, when a familiar voice called out a phrase that sent the magic user into a screaming as her body was slowly taken over by a bright white light. The young elf's heart sank in her chest.

Oh no... No no, no, no. Her light hair curtained past her face while she put her head down, not able to meet the woman's gaze. Not now. As Cheyenne went on, all Blake could do was listen, clutching her arm. Blake would've probably mentioned the floating multi-Affinity woman, but as she stood there, she remembered what Gram said. That's right. What was happening now, what had already started was due to their actions back on the Sky Platform. It was all their fault, but... I refuse to consider the sparing of a life a mistake. I'm not going to regret it, even if she is the one who killed Ian. "Mom... Dad... I don't know what to say. I'm so sorry about the house, everything inside... I know what it meant, what it stood for. I'm sorry." This was only going to get worse, wasn't it? Gram had said that they were coming back to haunt the world. They'd be focusing in on them, sure, but what exactly did they plan on doing to everyone else? Cheyenne was at her last leg with her daughter, and this was only the start of whatever hell was in store. How do I even start explaining that...? Grr...No! Rowan can call me whatever he likes, but if they're coming for us anyway, if they're going to hurt other people because they're mad we let someone LIVE, then we gotta... If this was their fault, then they had to do something... before too many people got hurt. Sigh...but I couldn't even touch her...

"Th...there are going to be more... everywhere. We have to tell the council..." Blake wanted nothing more than to work toward taking responsibility for the consequences that they incurred, but she knew she was too weak to even consider something like that Cheyenne had just been able to take the woman out with a single spell. Would she even consider teaching Blake? That was even if she had the capability.... When it comes to everyone else, though... Rowan even had its hands full with that creature...Do they all have one? What can we do?

User ImageGiven the situation, one would have probably assumed that Alistair's sigh was of either exasperation or sorrow, but it was really one of relief when he'd seen that the three inside the house were okay, though there was a significant bias toward his own daughter. All the same, there was hardly anything left of their business, their livelihood, hardly anything left of their home. Cheyenne, rightfully upset, was already fueling her feelings into rage and going off on Blake about the state of the place. The only thing Alistair could do was look at what was left with a solemn expression, hands in his pockets. Could anything even be salvaged? It looked like the place had been blasted with a massive fireball, and insurance...didn't cover explosions. How the hell did this happen? Why didn't I see it coming? He closed his eyes for a moment, attempting to process this. There'd been so much in there, so much from their lives, so much of their work. His wife's mention of his hair didn't even seem to phase him. Alistair, however, opened one of his eyes at Rowan's approach.

"No, but... we'll figure something out." Summer homes were for people with jobs that allowed leisure time for such things. It wasn't as if something like that were financially out of the question, but they couldn't really afford to go on "vacations" when people were well... dying. "Indeed... Though I wish we could have been here sooner, as well. Maybe..." His low voice trailed off. With a deep breath, he looked over to the young man, opening both of his eyes. Maybe they could've stopped the woman had they seen her before her initial attack, no changing anything at this point. When the Knight apologized for not saving the house, Alistair just looked at him with a somewhat surprised expression. His lips formed a solemn half-smile before reaching up to place a hand on Rowan's human shoulder. "Thanks... for saving Blake," he murmured. He severely doubted that the girl had made it out of there unscathed without her Knight's interference. The man then placed both of his hands back in his pockets, gaze moving to the young Mage as she said something that made him raise an eyebrow. More?

"WHAT?!" The dragon kin shrieked out the exclamation over how over-powered this woman still was. Returning herself back to a normal weight, she backed off as the enemy became enveloped in a bright white light. Bloodcurdling screams erupted from her throat as she was overtaken. Multiple Affinities were a rare enough trait, but conflicting Affinities were never heard of, they were against the nature of things. Was that something they could expect in future encounters with these people. Natalia clenched her jaw. How disgusting. Who took the witch out, though? The woman's eyes widened when it was revealed that Cheyenne had cast the disgusting wench off by whatever means. So, that elf woman really did have bite under all that bark. Speaking of which, she was off to a delightful start, screaming at Blake about the state of their home.

Yes, it was unfortunate that such a pretty house had been absolutely totaled the way it had in but a moment. No maid could clean such a mess and expect any sort of good result. She wondered how much they'd actually lost. Swinging the axe up onto her shoulders, the woman just tried to stay back and out of the situation for now, not wanting to incur anyone's fury at the moment. Natalia was already frustrated to no end over things had just transpired. She'd been just as effective as bratty little Blake in the fight. How annoying. Whatever headache she'd had before was now worse with her mood, though the truth behind the increase in pain might've actually been from moving around recklessly after a concussive blow to the forehead. Either way, it was back. It was worse.

There seemed to be a rather hopeless atmosphere in regards to this situation, something that Rowan did not particularly care for right now. Maybe it was just his fleeting fancies, but he really did not want to be around either of these two right now. Something about their presence just made him feel off... The feeling seemed like something that he had lost a long time ago... every since he stopped visiting his sister to keep watch over her. That was when it dawned on him, and his expression darkened quite a bit as he stared at the ground. Yeah... this was what guilt felt like, an emotion that he had been trying to conceal for the last few months... nearly a year now. With the recent destruction of the house because of his choices, however, that guilt was slowly starting to build up once again. "You shouldn't have to worry about a place to stay. We've got more than enough money to buy anything you'd want... anywhere. All we have to do is make sure to replace anything that you lost..." Rowan trailed off, knowing that he and Blake could never replace the precious memories that had been destroyed in the fire.

That was when his eyes caught Natalia skulking around off to the side, trying her best to go unnoticed. Was she hiding from them in fear of someone's wrath or something? When did she become so cowardly and quiet? Looking over the situation, Rowan simply sighed and walked over behind the woman, trying his best not to make much sound. Once he was close enough, he would drop Gram's hand down on her head lightly, almost as if he were petting something, and spoke. "Sitting back and doing nothing won't solve anything. If you're frustrated or upset, you shouldn't bottle it in and watch from afar." He stated to the woman, simply letting Gram rest on her head. In reality, he was setting it there in an attempt to cause discomfort from the woman. With enough of Gram's aura causing discomfort, any residual pain she might have felt from the strike to her head earlier would probably be lessened. After all, most pain intensifies when someone concentrates on it or if other nerves are not firing off as well. He had learned in the academy that stabbing oneself in the battlefield served to lessen pain in one single area.

"Don't blame yourself either..." Rowan muttered to her quietly, not looking her in the eye at all but simply staring forward. Despite how cold he seemed and how uncaring he was trying to act right now, what he was doing was incredibly kind and his words were obviously meant to inspire the woman a little bit. Trying to casually help someone out with obscure attempts was his specialty, and he had become a master at it over the years. After all, a parent's job was often to help without gaining recognition for their efforts. Rowan, at this moment, was simply staring forward at Blake as the woman struggled to explain herself.

"I don't care if there's more of those things coming here, I'm talking about what's here and now! Don't think you can weasel out of a bit scolding just because there seems to be some imminent threat. There's always one of those in the world, and this is just one in a long series of them. Your father and I had to deal with a massive war one time between tree-folk and us, and it was grueling!" She scolded Blake even more, trying to explain that these types of things were common, and she should not be riled up because more of these things might show up. "But most important of all..." Cheyenne broke away from her scolding after a few minutes, a few tears dropping from her face as she gritted her teeth. "My baby girl could have died! And you're just going to stand there and act like there are more pressing matters at hand. We lived for you for twenty years you idiot! Where do you get off just casually brushing of the fact you could have died just now!?" She suddenly started yelling at her daughter, obviously upset with how her daughter could just not be phased by what seemed like imminent death.

"You're not your father! He's a Knight, and your little zombie boyfriend is just as different. You're soft, and gentle... and you break easy. So why are you acting like nothing could have happened when you almost got obliterated by that woman!?" She screamed at her daughter, unable to understand what made Blake so casual... what made her so apathetic to almost meeting her end right here and now. "Even now... I bet you're thinking about something completely insignificant! Like, 'how can I warn the council about them,' or 'there's no way I can beat them like am right now.' I'm right, aren't I!? You aren't even thinking about how you almost died!!!" She yelled at her daughter, frustrated with the attitude she had noticed was starting to become ever-present. "Do you think you're invincible because of that oaf you have following you around everywhere!? Do you think he'll always be there to protect you if you're really, truly in danger!? If he's not there, then that must mean that your life isn't in danger!? Why do you trust a man so completely when he couldn't even keep himself alive!?" She screamed at her, frustrated with her daughter's mentality and not wanting to lose her.

Meanwhile, Rowan was simply standing back a little bit, still leaving his hand on Natalia's head while he watched the scene unfold before him. Despite the name-calling and the disrespect he was being shown during it all, his face did not show any sign of change, and he seemed rather apathetic to it all for the most part. A parent lives for their child... so it's pretty understandable why she's so upset with her. I'd be upset with my little sister if I found out she was running around risking her life without a second thought. The man contemplated, watching Blake carefully while her mother was yelling at her. He then turned his attention slightly towards Natalia without looking at the woman, sighing a little bit. Very subtly, he moved his fingers and began scratching the dragonkin right behind the horns sticking out of her head. "I'm not one to regret anything. I stopped doing that a long time ago. This may be my fault, but no matter what happens... it wasn't the wrong choice." He stated to her very solemnly, almost as if he were reassuring the woman in case she had any doubts about whether or not she should have just died on that floating continent.

User Image"M-Mom..." Blake was a little taken aback by Cheyenne's sudden change of mood, though her ferocity remained. The woman just stared at her mother for a moment. Sure, there was always a chance of threats like this with a force like magic being so prevalent in society, but wasn't the possibility of the world ending actually more pressing than what could have happened? I... I was honestly just trying to be optimistic about our chances. The dark-haired woman, much like Gram had just before, then started calling out spot-on hypotheticals that once again made the half elf want to sink back into her own body in embarrassment. She had a point, though. The scale of what was happening was far greater than Blake, but if she had died just now, how would it have affected the people around her? What had a single death done to her? It wasn't as though that was the last thing on her mind. To be fair, how could she even consider surviving without a single chance to protect herself against these people? "A- Adrenaline rush, I guess?" she asked pushing her hair back off her face with an awkward smile. That was part of it. The mana that Balmung had absorbed basically knocked the Mage out of shock, out of what could have. A broken sigh left her, though, her arms dropping to her side.

"Mama, it doesn't have anything to do with him... I'm sorry. I get it, I do. It's not like it's the last thing on my mind, but... I'm alright." Honestly, I just really don't wanna focus on thinking like that... It's true. I could've died just now, but that was only the first of these people they were probably going to encounter. Ah, geez... she dropped her gaze to the ground as tears threatened to fall. How was she supposed to be expected to keep any sort of cool with her mom acting like this?

User Image"Mmm, indeed. Thanks. It will...be fine." There wasn't much of anything left, but... at least everyone was alright. Alistair raised an eyebrow when the kid seemed to being moving over toward the dragon woman for some reason or another. The man was a little curious, but that was when what he expected to happen, Cheyenne breaking down while still attempting to scold their daughter. He closed his eyes and smiled, moving over to the woman and placing a hand on her shoulder. Blake did seem a little less than phased about her own plight, more upset about the house and whatever she thought was going happen because of these strange people. It may be a case for worry, but Cheyenne had her point. His daughter's indifference to her own well-being was rather frustrating. Adrenaline rush... This damn kid... Your mother's right, you're making me white.

"Blake, you're lucky we even showed up when we did... but," leaving his hand on Cheyenne's shoulder, he reached out to Blake, placed his hand on the back of her head, and pulled them both closer to him. "We are happy that you're safe..." He'd hold them there for a moment before slowly stepping away. The hand Alistair'd had on Blake closed into a fist, knocking lightly on the girl's head. "With your mother's blood in you, you better not plan on dying before me, understand?"

A shiver ran up the dragon kin's spine when Rowan placed his equipped hand on her head. Natalia let out an uncomfortable exhale. He didn't seem to have much for ill intention, but Gram's presence was enough to give the woman goosebumps. Her lips pulled into a straight line when the kid started speaking. Shouldn't bottle it in and watch from afar, huh? Aren't you the king of brooding? You know... the one who locked himself away while struggling against his own Armament? Quite the one to talk, ain'tchya? she thought spitefully. It was strange, though, the problem of her headache was beginning to lessen with Gram's presence slowly becoming more and more potent the longer the kid left it there. She couldn't help but to look over to him when he told her not to blame herself. It was rather surprising, the young man attempting to comfort the woman about the situation. Well, at least that's what is words sounded like. Rowan's aloofness was slightly curious, though. What sort of game was the man playing at?

Cheyenne was lighting right into that little girl, wasn't she? Natalia opened her mouth to come up with some sort of reply for the kid when his hand moved. A sudden rush of comfort moved through her body as Rowan scratched her behind her horns. Without thinking, she closed her eyes and slightly leaned her head into the gesture. It was actually quite the embarrassing move on her part. Aheh, that was rather unexpected. Do you even know what you're doing, hmm? "Mmm, I almost got crushed and your Mage there would have been vaporized because I could not handle a little of my own medicine. Isn't that interesting?" she asked spitefully before sighing and attempting to step away from the Knight's reach. It was unfortunate, what was going to happen, but this was probably inevitable in one way or another. "Not to sound selfish, but I can't help to agree with your decision. Really, such ancient souls having a childish hissy fit like this? Someone should really teach them a lesson... Although, I do appreciate having such a thoughtful master," she teased with a smile, trying to show she was fine for the most part, "shouldn't you go check in with your girl-er, Miss Blake, hmm?" The woman considered nudging the boy with her elbow but thought such an action to be dangerous for a maid. "Surely, she'd want to speak with you after a such a battle." Natalia brushed herself off before tossing sticking the battle axe into the ground. Back to my services, I suppose.

"Come, now. Come, now. Fire eats quite a bit, but not everything. Surely, there's something we can salvage from your lovely home. Allow this humble maid to offer her services,"
she suggested, bowing rather extravagantly. The woman was suddenly in quite a decent mood, good even, given the state of things. It was strange that she was so ready to attempt to alleviate the mood of the situation. Perhaps her master's attempts to comfort her had inspired the woman.

"There used to be a point to everything, but since that day I can't seem to find myself caring about anything anymore. It's not because I don't want to, but because it's best if I don't."

"Pride is what got you into this mess in the first place. I think the less you have of it, the better." Rowan stated to Natalia rather nonchalantly, as if the matter held no meaning to him. "Sure, being able to stand up for yourself and value yourself is all well and good. But... at a certain point your pride breaks you. It makes you irresponsible. And worst of all, it blinds you to all the atrocities that you commit." Rowan stated to Natalia, still not looking at Natalia at all but feeling the woman lean into his hand as he scratched her head. In his mind, he was reflecting back to how his pride had gotten him tortured, how his pride led him to the Sky Platform. Even now, his pride in his own humanity was what caused this entire situation. That was why it was something dangerous... even though he knew the value that it granted to someone. When she moved out of his reach, the young man did not attempt to stop her or keep her from moving. She was free to react however she wanted, yet he did choose to look her in the eyes at this point. There was a rather solemn, empty look to them. "I get the feeling... that even if I didn't want that to be the case... it's going to end up that way. In matters of love, that girl's pretty bull-headed." Rowan stated, referencing Natalia's attempt to cover up her mistake when she almost called Blake Rowan's girlfriend. It's not like I mind all that much.

Cheyenne was ready to burst from anger, about to pop like a balloon as she stared daggers at her daughter. How could this insolent child be so inconsiderate. Even now, she was trying to make jokes to smooth over the situation. Surely she knew that Cheyenne did not have a sense of humor! Before she was able to give the girl another verbal lashing, however, her husband had placed a hand on her shoulder in an attempt to calm her down... or maybe even comfort her. At times, she wondered if Alistair shared her beliefs and fears... yet this was not the time to think about or discuss such things. Besides, he proved to be in a much better mood than her when he suddenly teased Blake and hit her on the head slightly, much to Cheyenne's disappointment. How could he be so carefree about all of this. Even if it was not misplaced trust in Rowan... there was something wrong about this situation entirely. "I don't know what I'd do if I lost you." Cheyenne stated to her daughter... just as a dark figure moved pat her and placed a hand on her daughter's head.

"You don't seem hurt... I suppose that's good." Was the first sentence that he had directed towards her in almost a week. It was subtle... but there was some affection in his voice as he stated it. Although, it was definitely difficult to distinguish between him being affectionate and his usual self. "I think we should worry about ourselves before anyone else. We're not heroes after all. Besides, we can always send a letter explaining the situation." He stated to Blake, trying to relieve her of the built-up stress involving the situation at hand. "Whether it's our fault or not... that's not really up for debate. There's nothing wrong with being a good person though. That look you have on your face... it's the look you hate the most, isn't it?" Rowan asked her, a rather different tone to his voice as he spoke to her. From the way the sun was pointed and the direction that she was looking at him in... she might even confuse his appearance for Ian's. "If it's the right thing to do, then there's nothing to regret, ever." He stated to her during this brief moment of illusion, almost as if the past were speaking to her right now.

"Even if you say something like that, do you think we're just going to ignore the man that's been breaking my daughter's heart for the last week!?" Cheyenne suddenly interrupted, a furious declaration from her as she spoke up from behind Rowan. "It's one thing to try and keep you away from my daughter to no avail... but how dare you just blatantly ignore my baby girl when she's so desperate to talk to you!"

"That's really... I didn't have a choice in the matter..." Rowan stated, staring at the woman with intense irritation as she continued on yelling at him. "Oh come off it you mini-hag! I'm always there when it's required! What I do in my free time is my own business you rotten woman!" He retaliated, sending verbal insults to the minute woman that was standing in front of him. By this point, Cheyenne had her verbal dukes ready.

"Ohoh! Glad to see that you've lowered yourself to reactions now! Someone who shies away from emotion such as yourself to finally fall into the realm of us mortals! It's almost a scandal." The woman mocked him, then continued her assault. "I'll have you know that I don't plan to let such an indecisive man into my family willingly. I'd rather put you down right her and now than see her believe in some man incapable of even speaking to her."

"This coming from the woman who essentially threw her daughter out in the streets and emotionally battered her all throughout her life. I have to say, I would have rather you had been in that house when it burned down. The world would definitely have been a better place!" Rowan stated as the two of them both moved forward at the same time and interlocked their hands as they tried to overpower one another, their arms spread apart as they butted heads quite literally.

"Over-rated macho!"

"Pompous buffoon!"

"Arrogant playboy!"

"Personality of a cheese-grater!"

"About as useful as a spork!"

"Decrepit old woman!"

As the two of them continued the verbal assaults, it seemed like their battle of degrading one another might last for hours if they were allowed to keep it up. Obviously, the two of them found no greater joy in life than to try their best to tear the other one down. Just the fact that the two of them could have this attitude and this fight, however, served to show that they were both alright, and her mother seemed to have regained her composure after Blake's near-death experience. The real question, however, was whether or not that had been Rowan's intention the entire time. Was he secretly trying to keep everyone at peace and ease their minds while acting as he usually did. There were definitely some oddities to his actions... yet they still seemed to follow the general personality he had displayed up until this point. Just what was going on through his mind? All that could definitely be stated was that he had eased Natalia's mind and had even brought Cheyenne back from the brink of despair. Although, he did paint himself as a target for her verbal abuse.

"Even if you tell me that there was a point to bringing me back, that still doesn't seem to mean anything to me. All I am is a weapon, and that was all I was trained to be, since the beginning."
