"I'm sure I can rig some kind of witu-ward up. I think I'll do that for you, so you can give them to your father." She smiled a little at that and then hummed when he talked about Gaddok. He sounded like a good guy, a person he thinks of as a friend.

The look confirmed it.

"..No. I have no interest in actually healing wounds. I'm the sort who makes the medication they use. I mix herbs, potions, whatever you want to call it that the Healers don't have on hand or have the proper time to make. I sell little first aid kits to mothers with children, and people come to me when the healer's too busy to get at least temporary pain relief. I always tell them to go to a healer, because my knowledge only goes so far." She spread her hands out before her and then ate down a few quick bites.

With a little over half the potpie left, she slid it to Warren, making an offering gesture. "I'm wondering if I can build a wooden box to carry all my things in, especially the herbs I need to dry. They take a long time, meaning I'm in one place for a while, which... Isn't bad, but to do my job, I need to go out there and collect from everywhere, so it's not ideal."

Warren thought it was noble of her to make first aid kits for mothers, as a kid he would have made use of one of those. Not that his mother would have been there to help him anyhow. His father was a strong parent, he was always proud of him for raising him. Warren knew he was difficult and he couldn't imagine how Kendov had put up with him.

He was almost done with his pie when she pushed her remaining portion to him. He was starting to get full but he didn't want it to go to waste. It was too delicious. Warren gave in and pulled the dish over. I'm going to need a nap after all this food.

He had an idea for her dilemma. "You could get a cart, either one you, or an animal could pull. Or if you needed something bigger, you could join some of the traveling caravans around here. Some of them can be a bit wary of outsiders but they would hesitate to turn down your services." He never got the chance to actually travel with one as a kid, his odd eyes made them too suspicious. But he still saw them frequently on the road and smaller merchant ones. He started working on the other half of the pie, albeit much more slowly than before.

Warren hesitated over the offered food for a second, but accepted, and San'thari settled down again.

She did wrinkle her nose at the thought of traveling with a caravan and shook her head politely. "I would rather go at my own pace, not someone else's. This box I want would strap to my back. I've got plenty of strength to carry it." She flexed her arms and showed they were not thin, but she had some wiry muscle there. All San'thari had to do was work her arms and back more and she'd be good to go.

She nudged his ale toward him and flagged down the keeper to get her her own flaggard. While he finished up, she would drink and hopefully get to that level where she was sleepy enough to just pass out tonight instead of tossing and turning.

Warren wasn't much into drinking but he was surprised to find the ale tasted better with food. He took a few gulps before he continued chipping away at the remaining pie.
He nodded, "See, you are no fighter but you aren't a push over either." He held up his arm in response with hers. "But if you ever need a guard I can fight off the witu for you" he offered with a chuckle.
He was half joking, he wished one day he could do that for people. But it felt like he had so much ahead of him. He had much to do before he could truly relax. He got quiet for a moment and took a long drink of ale.

"Don't be so quick to joke. I could take you up on it," she said, bringing her flaggard up to her lips and sipping the froth first. She tipped it back further and took an impressive amount before putting it back down with a hard sigh. "I'm staying in this area for a while, though. I want to sell some of my older, but still potent stock and make some new mixes and herbs..."

This is why she needed the alcohol. To shut off her brain for five minutes and let her relax instead of constantly worrying about her job and what needed to be done.

"You can come by sometime. I'll change your bandages... I mean come by the room. I'm staying up one floor and three doors on the right. That's where I'm doing a lot of my mixing and brewing."

His eyes widened as he watched San'thari down the ale. He was more than a little impressed. He took a long dink himself. It was starting to make him feel warm. He wasn't sure if the inn would even let him stay, San was probably the only reason they had tolerated him this long. He looks like a guy that starts trouble so they usually kick him out.

He poked at one of the bandages on his arm, some blood had started to show through. He would probably need help changing them. "Yeah, I don't think I can get the ones on my back. If you want to help I would appreciate it." He was also curious to see how she made her herbal mixes.
"The ale was a good idea, will take the edge off a little." He finished off his mug as they brought them another round.

She, too, finished hers off as they brought another round. The woman sat back and covered her mouth with her hand and couldn't help the fact a belch escaped. From the food and the drink, it was due and she didn't look embarrassed, even as she said excuse me. At least no one looked at her when she did it.

"Mm. I can help. Do you want them changed tonight?"

Honestly she wasn't thinking he didn't have a room. In her head he was just like everyone else, just bigger, and they'd have given him a room. Being prejudice didn't help a business in the slightest, especially an inn.

"Mmhmm.. It's good on winter nights when it's bone chillingly cold," she said, starting to take off that light green sash, putting it around her chair instead. Since she was in front of a wall she really didn't have to worry about a pickpocket. "I don't drink often, but now and again, I don't see what it hurts."

He nodded when she asked if he would want the bandages changed. He caught the server and asked them to get him a room and a bath. Damn what the healer said, he needed to soak. He sniffed the drink before taking a sip. It was as if it was starting to taste better the more he drank it.

"My dad had this flask he called forge water" he grimaced after he said it. "It tasted horrible and burned when it went down. He used to drink it when it was cold out." Warren shook his head. "I tried to get dunk off it once when I was a kid, I just ended up vomiting every where and I climbed a tree to 'escape the lava'" He covered his face in embarrassment. He had never shared that story with anyone, but it was the first time he had gotten drunk. He felt like he could laugh about it now.
He lifted his mug, "This tastes leagues better than that stuff did." he let out a laugh as he went to take another drink.

She looked pleased when Warren got himself a room. The bath, not so much, but she wasn't going to say anything. At least it wasn't the trough.

San'thari listened to his words and laughed. It was an honest to gods laugh that she hadn't done in so long and it left her flushed and breathless. "It sounds like a very good spirit! If I ever meet him, I might ask him about it.." She had the widest smile on her lips as she tried to picture a smaller Warren running around, climbing trees and seeming having some kind of hallucination from the drink.

"Gods above, that's.." She shook her head. "That's wild. That's all there is to it. You, sir, have me beat in stories, I'm afraid."

Warren just smiles and bears his embarrassment "Yep, I wasn't the brightest."
He actually had to catch up with his dad soon. Kendov didn't know about his mother yet, he would probably be upset. He took a long drink. "If you think that story is wild, you don't know the half of it. But maybe I should save those for later." His eyes looked far away and he gazed into the glass. His mind was jumping through hoops trying to avoid the thought of his mother.

The waiter came by to let warren know his room was ready for him when he needed it. "I think after I finish this drink I'm going to soak for a bit. I can feel some of the bandages sticking to me."

"Very well," she said with a grin. She had been nursing her own, honestly, because the conversation was interesting, but he needed rest. He had to clean and he had to sleep. It'd help with the blood production.

So she swirled her mug a bit and downed another swallow. "I'll come find you and change your bandages sometime tomorrow. It's getting late, and honestly.." She looked at the size of the mug she was drinking from. "Honestly I think two of these is going to be overkill for me." Sleep wasn't far off from holding her. Her eyes grew lidded slowly and the smile she had turned softer. "I'll bring you some balm for the itching and pain of stitches." At least, she hoped she would. She might have some ready.

Warren quickly downed the rest of his ale, "That sounds good!" He stood up from the table and felt pretty good from the drink. "Thank you again for everything today. Sleep well!" He parted with a smile.

When he got into his room he was disappointed to see the bed was on the smaller size. The innkeeper had the sense to get him a large wash bin at least. he was relived to find the water was still hot. He relaxed and let the water rinse his pain and stress away. As he soaked, the water tinged pink from his wounds. The smaller ones opened again, but he didn't care. He curled in and hugged his knees to his chest. He couldn't hold back the tears that suddenly burst from his face. It felt like he had been holding back a dam all day. His strength dispersed and he did his best to cry softly into the washcloth.

He was never going to get the image of his mother out of his mind. The horrified look in her eyes when she saw him. The terror on her face even in death did not fade. All his work to become a guard, just so he could prove to her he was not some monster, that he could do good in the world. She had abandoned him, and he loved her anyway. All he wanted was some closure but it had been robbed of him. His only hope for closure was to find he animal that killed her. He pulled the sermal claw from his clothes and washed it in the bath water.

He stared at it for a long while, he wanted to think of a way to get to it. He was too exhausted to think of anything brilliant, he just hoped something would come to him, it didn't. He carefully dried himself off and took care not to agitate his wounds. When he lay in the bed his feet stuck off the end of it. He simply let out a sigh and submitted himself to the inevitable sleep.
