A barely repressed sigh of relief escaped her when he offered rabbit as a comparison to shark. "Yes, although shark is a little more delicate." she paused. "Next time I catch one I'll bring you some." she offered. "Although now you've got me wondering what cougar tastes like." she laughed a bit. "Have you ever had shellfish? They're pretty good. Bit of a pain to eat because of the shells but worth the work if you're willing to put for the effort."
She moved to another clump of grass and took a bite and had to keep herself from choking on it as he mentioned his own first encounter with snow. "Sorry, I just got the mental picture of a slightly younger you scared the world was ending because of all the frozen water on the ground." she gave a hearty laugh for a few minutes before getting herself back under control with a head shake. "I suppose you're right that everyone's messes up the first time if they're not used to it."
She raised an eyebrow at his shock to her never having those two things he'd mentioned. "Oh no, I don't know of anything that looks like what you described around here. I don't really know a lot about grass to be honest, just that you should avoid jimson weed because it'll make you sick or worse and that razor grass should be avoided at all cost for the sake of your mouth." she gave a little smile at his admittance to having a soft spot for clover. "I understand. I really like onions. There's a patch around here that should bloom soon. I'm really looking forward to it."

"That would be interesting to try," he replied, thinking of a more delicate flavored rabbit. Maybe there were a few things worth eating in the water besides kelp after all. "As for cougar, if you catch a young one, they're more tender. But catch an old one, might as well leave it there. Those critters are tough and gamy as and old dead carcass, and not worth the effort." The only reason he knew that was because he had accidentally killed one of the beasts at one point as it was trying to attack him. That tough old thing had been hard on his teeth. One of it's half-grown litter then came after him, and he'd killed the thing out of pity, knowing it would starve without its mother. Though, there wasn't any harm in tasting it, was there? "If I ever catch a young one again, I'll bring it to share with you as well. Though I've heard lambs are supposed to be better. I don't know though, I've never tried."
As she laughed at his first encounter with snow, he huffed in mock-indignation. "Slightly younger version of me? Try much younger version of me. I probably came up to the bottom of your chest. Thinking I would react that way as a near adult." He winked as he said it, figuring she was most likely adult when she had her first encounter.
"You should also avoid mustard grass, as that stuff can also make you pretty sick. And at least I received my lesson in razor grass by trying to walk through a patch." He winced, remembering all the small cuts that had been all up and down his hocks. He had stayed in the lake for a week trying to cool down his legs and sooth the sharp pain. Who knew grass could be so evil!? "I look forward to showing you one of my favorite foods as well. Though, there is a lot more to grass then just eating it. Getting different types together, with different flavors, and even having some plants with meat helps give it a different flavor." He found he liked sharing this information with her. Heck, why kid himself. He was getting excited. This was most definitely the longest conversation he had had with anyone outside of his family, and he found he craved it.

She nodded in understanding. "That seems to be a good rule for just about any meat really. I caught an older rabbit once, tough as could be. Felt like I was chewing leather. Although that's a good rule for plants too. New growth is always better than old." she gave him a smile. "I'd like to try it if you can find one." she had to look up at him in confusion again though. "What's a lamb?" it was obviously some sort of land dwelling prey but she was having a hard time picturing something that went with a name like that. She muttered it to herself a few times getting a feel for the strange word. "Sounds soft..." she said a little louder than she meant to. "And cute..." despite not being overly picky about what she ate most of the time, she had to admit she had a soft spot for any animal she considered "cute" and tried to avoid eating them if she could as silly as that sounded.
She looked back over at him and gave a bit of a smirk. "Well I suppose you can't be faulted too much then and I'm sure you were an adorable foal." she teased. She then snorted as he winked at her. "Some of us didn't have the luxury of wandering off from home at such a young age." she tossed her head up into the air and hoped she sounded flippant and dismissive. It was something she really didn't want to talk about and wasn't even sure why she'd said it honestly.
Mustard grass? What on earth was that? The word in and of itself had a nasty edge to it. "I'll keep that in mind." she said and then winced in sympathy. "That must have been a rough day. At least when I discovered it a nearby bird at least tried to warn me...I ended up cutting my tongue a bit and at least it healed fairly quickly."
She shifted her weight and stretched a bit. She'd never considered that what you were eating at the same time would actually have an impact on the flavor of other things. There was evidently more to food than just eating it if it tasted good. "You really know a lot about food." she said approvingly. "I've always been more of a 'if I like it I eat it,' kind of girl. I never really gave it anymore thought than that. I suppose we both have something to teach the other." she gave him a wink.

Vis tried to think about how to describe a lamb. "It has four feet, and is covered in a long hair that's thick. You don't want to eat that, but underneath is where everything is. The babies have much shorter hair, and I guess if you like baby things, they are cute." He shrugged. He never really paid attention to if something was 'cute' or not, only if it tasted good or not.
There she went, being dismissive again. However, he was rather done speaking about his family too, so he just let that subject go.
"I'm glad you had warning about it. And yes, it was a rough week. It stung to walk, and it stung to be in the ocean. However, I was told that the salt water would be good for the wounds, so I spent a lot of time in the water. Had to watch out though as things kept trying to nibble on me under the water. They also tried to nibble on me above water to." He shook his head. "Don't leave blood laying around. It gives the predators ideas that you're food." He saw her wink and felt himself flush inside, though he tried to dampen it down.
"Erm... well.... yes, I do know a bit about food. It's mostly been accidental at first. However, when I kept getting some of the same flavors, then I started actively trying to see what tasted good. Though, that also meant I ran into some pretty nasty combinations." He stuck his tongue out slightly at the though of one of those bad combinations. "It took a week before I couldn't taste anything not flavored badly. So, I'll make sure to help you avoid that, and not have to go though the same hard lesson." He also thought about why he did it. "I also guess because my father is a meat-eater, and mother isn't, I've always had an odd sense of taste. So, I wanted to find things that tasted good to me as well. I guess I'm also a 'if I like it I eat it' kind of stallion, it's just generally a little more complex." He smiled at her, glad to find that she didn't think his taste-testing was weird.Sorry it took so long. RL.

She listened to him describe what a lamb was and then was disappointed. Even if her mental image was probably all wrong, he had in fact confirmed that they were cute which meant they were off the menu. "I see. Seems like a strange little animal." she said loud enough for him to hear. "Pity they're cute." she said quietly and more to herself than him hoping he wouldn't hear and ask her why she'd said that.
She was rather glad he didn't want to talk about families anymore even if his home life had been much better than hers and she was curious how two so very separate species had managed to get together to have a family she knew better than to pry where she was obviously not wanted. It might also lead him to ask questions about her family and that was something she'd rather avoid if she could help it. At least for now. She knew that she couldn't hide it forever no matter how much she wanted to. Life never let you forget where you came from after all.
She shook herself from her own thoughts to listen to his account with razor grass and had to shudder a bit. Her mouth had been painful enough but those tiny cuts all over his body? No, thank you. "I've been there." she said nodding in agreement to how much open wounds hurt in salt water. "But whoever told you that was right. From what a healer told me the salt gets in there and draws out the bad humors making the wound clean and better able to heal. Just wish humoring wounds didn't hurt so much." she gave a short laugh, even if he didn't laugh she'd found her little dark joke funny.
She snorted as he winked at her again with the predator line. "I'll try to keep that in mind and keep my blood inside of me then." she gave him a smirk. "Don't want anyone to get the wrong impression and think I'm on the menu." she then had to color herself as that last part had come out with more of a purr than she'd intended or thought possible. What was going through her head?
Again a subject change and she latched on to what he was saying about the things he ate. "I never thought about combining what I eat. I just always ate either plant or animal and never thought that maybe it would be nice to have at the same time." she looked a little abashed. "I suppose that makes me sound pretty simple minded." she swished her tail showing her embarrassment. "What kind of bad things have you eaten that traumatized you so?" she asked curiously. If there were utterly awful things that made other things taste bad too she'd rather not get tangled up with them. She liked her food to taste as it should, than you very much. SkyDragono No worries, hope things settle down for you.

Vis cocked his head to the side, wondering why she had made such a comment. "Why does it matter if they are cute or not? It's just food. Now granted, I'd rather have something that looks appetizing, then something that looks like it spawned from the depths and smell so bad you loose your appetite. So I guess when it comes to food, I like it to look a little appetizing. But lamb or cougar, its still food." He felt his tone changing to sound something more like his fathers. 'Meat is meat. Would you starve because you don't want to eat something even though it's edible. Buck up boy, and suck it down. It's good for you, and will put meat on your bones.' That particular lesson had come when his father had caught a snake, and decided his son was being too squeamish around it, so therefore he needed to eat it so he wouldn't be squeamish anymore, since he had known what it tasted like. That seemed to be his fathers philosophy. If you know what something tastes like, then you shouldn't be afraid of it anymore. And Vis had to eat that stupid snake whole. His ears flattened, remembering that cursed snake, and his fathers laughter as Vis choked on it.
"I never heard that it was humors or anything like that. Just that there were bug that could crawl in there and lay eggs that start eating you alive and causing it to swell and get infected, and the best way to kill the eggs if they were laid was salt water, which also stopped the infection." He didn't understand her joke about the humors, but he let it slide. They were from two different places after all. Maybe it made sense to those water dwellers.
He couldn't describe the feelings that went though him at the purring tone to her voice. All he knew is that it was delectable, and warmed him in ways that made him flush. He wanted more, while the little ponies in his head babbled nonsensically about various things that he was pretty sure turned his entire coat a beet red. And thinking how red he must be turning had him mentally become a deep shade of scarlet, and he wanted to melt into the earth. He had no idea if she liked him anymore then a speaking companion, so he had no right to think of her in such ways! Though she was cute, and this was the longest conversation he had with a female ever! And she actually seemed interested to speak with him, and in what he had to say! See, wasn't that good enough for him, and you stupid ponies can shut your mouths right now before I shove a full hoof of dirt in them. So what if she had those stunning glowing golden eyes, and those cute little purple tips to her fins. Not to mention those long legs.... Gah!
"Yes, Clover!" He suddenly spouted, trying to derail his thoughts which were quickly going off in directions he didn't want. He spun on his heels, looking through the forest brush to see if he would find clover. And he was determined he would certainly find it. He had to! He needed a serious distraction while he stuffed the ponies in his head in a very tightly locked-up box. Because if he didn't, one of them might distract him and he might say what it was thinking, and then he would really want to just become a puddle.
Vis shook his head at her. "I don't think it makes you sound simple-minded at all. If it hadn't happened to me, I probably wouldn't have thought much about it either. As for some of those bad experiences, there is this tall plant with a purple flower and has spines all over it called thistle. Avoid those at all cost. I also ate this pale yellow fruit once because it smelled delicious. I thought my mouth was going to burn off, and then my throat, and then my stomach, and I swear I could feel that pepper going all the way through my insides until it finally came out the other end." He shuddered at the memory. "No water would quench that fire, and my mouth still burned for two days afterwards, and I could only eat cold things because they soothed some of it. I will certainly warn you away from those, though thankfully they are located more near the desert areas then around the ocean, so I don't think you will ever get to meet that particular demon of a plant." He had certainly learned his lesson.Lady Argentum Draconis It was a ghost pepper that he ate. xD

Ohseaspirits! He'd heard her. "Ah well," she stammered and turned her head away so he hopefully wouldn't see her color. "I just, I don't," she huffed. "I don't like to eat cute things." she muttered utterly mortified. "They're so sweet and innocent and," she coughed and looked away. He'd probably laugh at her now but she couldn't help it. "I mean I don't want to eat anything disgusting either and if it's the only thing around and I'm hungry I'll eat it, I just feel bad about it after for awhile." she scuffed a hoof at his tone and wondered if he'd ever had the luxury of being picky about his food. She only ever had because of the abundance of food offered by her lurk's territory and the kelp forest she lived in. From what it sounded like though she surmised he hadn't and perhaps his father had been a little over eager to get his mostly kelpie boy to eat like a predator than letting him find his own way.
"I don't really understand it completely but a humor is supposed to influence your body and how it works and whether or not you're healthy. Or something like that I'm not a healer and I don't completely understand it myself." she made a face at the possibility of bugs laying eggs in a wound. She was glad she, for the most part lived underwater and the worst thing that tried to pick at a wound was cleaner fish, which wasn't a bad thing. They helped keep things clean after all by eating parasites and other nuisances.
As she tried to get herself composed again from her tonal mishap she glanced over at him and noted that he seemed to be having his own issues. Was he, changing colors? No, no he was just in, a full blush? In all her life she'd never see anyone go red from ear to tail tip. Had she done that to him? Well, yes, as she was the only one here after all, she had to be the culprit. However, it was just such a different reaction than she was used to from males that it caught her off guard. The stallions in the lurk just seemed to, expect that she was going to want to breed with them. Whether she took a permanent mate or just picked someone on a whim was of little concern. She would eventually pick one of them because she was a kelpie and they were a kelpie and that's just how it was.
Vis though was different, for many, many, many reasons. It was nice to be around a male that didn't just expect her to throw herself at him simply because they shared a species. He was obviously strong, but didn't flaunt it, he had much more worldly experience than she did and she had to admit his coloring was very pleasing to the eye and those horns let him cut quite the figure. Hmm.
She was jarred out of her thoughts at his sudden cry for clover. "Did you find some?" she hadn't been looking around and thought he'd suddenly spotted a patch. She followed a few steps after him and looked on the ground for anything that looked remotely clover-ish.
She was at least pleased he didn't think her simple for not experimenting more with her food. She supposed that unless you stumbled across things like he had you didn't think about it much. "Ugh, thistles are the worst." she had to agree. She'd eaten one last summer and it had not been an experience she wished to repeat. She shuddered at the pepper story. That sounded far from pleasant. "I'm glad then that none of them are around here. That does not sound like an experience I am eager to try myself." she said with a firm nod.

He couldn't really understand it, but maybe that was just how she was. He shrugged at her response. "I guess that's up to you. But I bet if you are starving, even the cute things will look good." Wasn't anything he could do to change her eating habits that way, so no used pursuing that any farther. She might have had the opportunity to be picky, he certainly didn't, especially with his father.
"Ah... no. Haven't found any clover yet, but there should become around here somewhere. It grows practically everywhere." He tried to keep his voice neutral, and contain the embarrassment that he was feeling. He had to admit he didn't have any experience with mares besides his mother and sister really, but that shouldn't make him a fool. In many ways he cursed his inexperience. Vis didn't even know how to ask anything that wouldn't get him with a hoof in the middle of his forehead, or bitten. Just because your father talked to your mother that way, was apparently not the way that normal soquili spoke to one another. Another inadequacy on his part. Was he never going to be right for anything? So he settled down to searching the ground for the single or three-leaf clover that he knew so well.
"I am glad that none are around here either. Though, there is another one that looks like it, but much bigger and green, that isn't nearly that hot, and actually tastes good. But unfortunately it grows in the same area." He thought for a moment. "And since you say you like onions, you might like chives. I'm told they're kind of onion-like."Lady Argentum Draconis Their the funniest little pepper. Really don't look like much. I'm in Chili country down here, so I just had to throw one in there somewhere. xD

"Well like I said, I won't starve myself just because of my preferences, just when I can avoid it I do." she gave a nod and let the subject drop.
She was a bit disappointed that his exclamation had been not in discovery but in, but in...distraction? Did she distract him in that way? Well she could gather that he at least enjoyed talking to her but did that actually extend to him thinking she was pretty? How could she find out? Did she want to find out? She considered that. She most definitely thought he was handsome and wouldn't mind if he thought she was pretty. Of course normally a male trying to court a female in her lurk offered a shark or sunfish or something along those lines to prove his hunting prowess and ability to provide for a family as an opening move. Even during arranged match-ups it wasn't unusual for the stallion to bring something suitable to meet his new mate. It also wasn't uncommon for matches to be cancelled due to the unsuitability of gift on those first meetings.
She paused in her search for clover and frowned for a moment in realization. Vis wasn't from her lurk though, he wouldn't know to do that and if he did know to do that would she accept? She'd turned down her fair share of free meals in the past after all and what made Vis so much more special than all those other stallions? Besides the fact that among all those others, she actually thought he was handsome but that was beside the point!
She picked up the pace and caught up to him again in looking for clover and did have to wonder how soquili courted from where he was from. She hoped that if he tried something weird she'd pick up on it and wouldn't embarrass him.
She nodded about the peppers again and was at least now curious about this green variant. "Pity, that sounds much more enjoyable. Maybe one of the traders that come by will have some one of these days." she offered as a possibility. "Ou, chives sound nice!" she said eagerly for something else that tasted like her precious onions. SkyDragono Yeah they do look pretty innocent. Never had opportunity to cook with one as we don't do a lot of super spicy food but I've got a friend who sometimes buys jerky that's got ghost pepper on it. Burns like heck lol

Vis pawed at a clump of dry grass, and underneath, there was the blessed cover! "Hey Sun! Over here!" The scent wafted up to meet him, and he could already see new growth coming up near the base. It wasn't the thickest patch of clover ever, but it was a start. If this became a regular routine between the two of them, he was going to have to husband the patch until it was nicely everywhere. He stepped aside from the patch, and motioned to it with a flourish. "May I present, your clover." Of course, what was he thinking, with this being a regular routine. I mean, he hoped it would be a regular routine. They seemed to be hitting it off rather well. And if she taught him to swim, maybe he could visit her under water as well...
Why were his thoughts going in this direction? He didn't even know the first thing about flirting. And that made him think about something else. If there food was different, maybe some of the customs were really different. What if he said something he thought was a compliment, and she took as is offensive. What if it wasn't even due to culture, but just him being him. Why was he even thinking of flirting. He just met her, and that was't a long enough time to determine if you were compatible with someone, was it? And then there was his family, and her family. What would happen if his mother ever found out, or his sister? He absently walked over to a tree, and rubbed his antlers on them, itching them a bit.
"Maybe they will. That would be nice, as I do miss the flavor. It is unique completely to them, and I have not found a substitute. And I know a patch of chives about half a day from here. They like sun and moist but futile soil. Like most of the plants I like, they're just starting to come up, if they are in sheltered places."

Ears perked as he called her over. "You found it?" she came closer and peered at the patch. "Ah, I see now! That's how the leaves look." she adjusted her mental picture accordingly as she hadn't been exactly sure how the leaves were arranged or shaped. She paused though at him referring to it as "her" clover. "Shouldn't it be your clover though?" she tilted her head just a bit at him. "You found it and it is your favorite." she gestured with her head allowing him to take the first bite if he was so inclined. Oh no, what if offering food was a form of courtship where he was from too! No, wait, that didn't make sense, she'd already offered to allow him to graze with her and that hadn't raised any questions on his part so no that was unlikely. There was also the fact that he hadn't hesitated to offer her the clover. Even if he was willing to let the offer of grazing with her slide, there was no way he'd offer his favorite food and not be aware of it's intentions of expressing interest. Damn and hell and other such swears.
She watched him go over to a tree and scratch an itch taking the opportunity to look over his form again. It really was quite pleasant and caught herself smiling which she had to wipe from her face as he turned back towards her. "They should start coming through in a few more weeks." she said with a nod. "We'll see then." she then considered the distance to the chive patch. "That doesn't sound too far or too bad. I bet I could do that." she said heavily insinuating that she would be open to going on short little adventures with him.
She then looked up at the sky. "Oh, I have something I want to try before it gets to dark if you want to try some swimming experiments toady. We can go back down to the beach whenever you're ready." SkyDragono They are. Now that she's realized there's the possibility he at the very least is attracted to her she's trying to over analyze everything and knows that most of the things she could do to express interest would be possibly weird for him. lol

Vis thought about it. "I guess it's not anyone's clover really, but since I had told you about it, and I wanted you to try it, for now it's 'your' clover. Unless of course, you don't like it," he amended quickly. He did hope she liked it. Pair that with chives, and maybe some sweetgrass in this patch, and it could make a regular banquet for her to try, with different flavors. Now if only he could find a way to transport the chives, and if they would survive in this section...
"Also, there is a river between here and there, so you can get yourself wet again. I've spent some time digging out an area big enough to actually submerge in, so you own't just have to lay on the stones and wriggle a bit like I used to do before I dug it out." The ponies in his head tried something, and he put them back in the box and tried to plug their escape route. "During the Fall it also has a Salmon run that goes up it, though you have to watch for bears and wolves, and other predators. It's pretty good eating right before winter sets in, which is helpful." He paused for a moment, considering. "It would add some time, but that river does lead into the ocean. We could always follow that up for you until we get to the crossing. That would make sure you stay wet."
He looked up at the sky as well, pausing to think. Swimming. He did want to learn, so that maybe he could spend a little more time in the water in the kelp beds so that when the lands tried out and were covered with snow, he still had a place to get greens during those cold bitter months. But these lessons would leave him vulnerable, and Sun knew that. He contemplated for a moment if he trusted her enough for these lessons. Sure, they had now spent a while together, but he still didn't know her. He didn't know anything about her. She could be playing nice just to get him out into the waves where she would devour him... But as quick as that thought came, it was dismissed. She wasn't his father. His father just had a vibe that even when that evil beast tried to be nice, Vis could just tell he had terrible intentions. He didn't get any of those feelings from Sun, and he really enjoyed being with her. She warmed parts of his soul that he didn't even know were cold, and for her he craved association. Just about as much as he craved clover. With his eyes still towards the sky, he gave a determined nod. "I'll do it," he said more to himself then anyone else in particular.
Lady Argentum Draconis Yes, my bad, I was gone forever. Reread most of it to figure out where they were going. I am a graduate now! And a married woman, with a house. GAH! Also, I saw that, and it's funny how "how do I not get kicked and show my interest" is affecting both of them, because neither really knows what to do! She knows the Kelpi rules, but Vis didn't learn them, and she's not familiar with landbound customs, which he is more familiar with. It will be interesting to see what they do with each other.

She considered that and figured it was the most logical way to approach the situation. "Very well, we'll call it 'mine' for now." she leaned down and took a nibble. Her eyes widened slightly and she suddenly wondered how she'd missed this all the times she'd grazed here. This little plant was amazing. Maybe even better than onions and that was hard to top in her book. She looked back up at him. "It's amazing!" she said. "I don't know how I missed it all the times I grazed here.Maybe I thought they were dandelions. I remember now this area gets little white flowers that look suspiciously like dandelions and I've never really cared for them." she finished then paused for a moment. "Perhaps...we should compromise and it can be 'our' clover?" she gave him a sidelong glance waiting to see how he'd react.
She listened quietly as he laid out the plans of this little expedition and had to hide a frown. Firstly, while following the river could be convenient it wouldn't really be that much if she couldn't swim up it and make better time. Otherwise she'd just spend her entire time scrambling along the banks trying to find footing. Secondly, she was slightly opposed to the idea that he might think she was some sort of delicate flower! Really! She managed to bite off the starts of a snappy retort and considered the fact that he had spent most of his life on land, maybe land mares were really more delicate creatures than she thought they were, in more need of careful handling by their stallions. She needed no such handling, she was kelpi! A deep breath though before replying was in order though. She didn't want to sound too offended or chastising of him.
"Overland will be perfectly fine with me." She said surprising herself with how gentle her voice was with no trace of annoyance. "While I appreciate your concern," which surprisingly she did, "I will be just fine with taking the faster route. I'm sure the river will be quite enough between here and our destination." she gave a polite nod. There that hadn't been so hard.
At the mention of salmon her eyes did light up a bit. "Salmon, you say?" her mouth watered a bit. "I do love a good salmon. I'm sure between the two of us we could manage to keep anything nasty at bay." she said with a firm nod and tail swish.
As she watched him consider the experiment she realized that she was asking a lot of him. She was for the most part still very much a stranger and she knew she'd be wary if some strange individual walked up to her and offered her the chance to learn something she'd always craved or thought was unreachable. She gave him a reassuring smile though when he agreed to it and a nod. "I promise nothing drastic and I know a little place where the waves are gentle this time of day and won't push you around much while we figure out your buoyancy issues and most importantly how long you can hold your breath." most of her plans hinged on that last fact for helping him. If he could hold his breath for at least 12 hours or even a day that would go a long way to opening up a whole new world for him. SkyDragono No worries! Grats on the graduating and marrigizing and housing! I know all that takes a lot of you. Make their own rules? lol it's the only option left.

Vis felt himself start to blush, but stopped. The way she said 'our just made his blood tingle. He was very glad though that she seemed to love it, and that pleases him. It was something they had in common. At the mention of dandelions, he nodded. "I don't like them much either. I try to Dig them up when i see them to stop them from spreading." He cleared his throat at the next words, trying to act like it wasn't a big deal. "We can certainly call them 'ours'." He praised the fact that he didn't blush.
As she talked about going overland, he simply nodded, though he had a vague notion he had offended her. Her voice didn't reflect it though, so it must have just been his imagination. "I just wanted to give you an alternative, since I don't know what your capabilities are, especially since it sounds like you need more time in the water than I do."
He gave her a toothy grin as sure talked about salmon and fending off unwanted. "I am sure we could." He couldn't say why he wanted to see her fight, but he was sure she would be good at it. And watching her chase off a bear or wolf would be of my appealing. But he didn't say that.
He tried to suppress a full at the swimming lessons, though he had agreed. "I'm not so afraid of the waves," he said, trying to sound tough, though it was true that they had sent him head over hock a few times. Then his voice lost the bit of edge it had gained. "Though, I guess a gentler spot for waves would mean that it would be easier to teach and see how things are going." He had originally taken her words as maybe him being afraid of the waves, but as soon as he had opened his mouth, and saw her encouraging smile, he felt like a pile of droppings. Of course it was easier to see the level of someone in calm waters instead of rough. Didn't he himself find it easier to swim in lakes because there wasn't the constant bashing of waves and chaotic currents? Did he not use a lake to work on his Negara swimming skill when he had tried the ocean, and a rip tide had tried to drown him, to the scornful jeers of his father? It made perfect sense to try calmer waters first. It wasn't a slight to him in any way. His ears flicked back in annoyance at himself, then he reached down to scratch his nose, trying to compose himself again. He just..... was a pile of dung. Who knew what she would think of his quick show of temper.
Lady Argentum Draconis Thanks, and it does. Sorry if there are any weird words in there, I'm on my phone and at the whims of autocorrect.

She felt a little shiver down her spine as he repeated the "our" back to her. She felt color rising to her cheeks and took a deep breath to try and stall it's continued rise. She was really going to have to figure out what to do with all these confused feelings at some point, they were starting to get a little out of hand. If only there was some way to properly express it...all this blushing and getting flustered was just so...awkward...She had to smile though since he agreed about dandelions. "Maybe together we can eliminate them from this area. A tall order I'm sure but there's time."
She nodded a bit. "I do, but I'll manage. At least I'm not a mer." she laughed a bit. "Then we wouldn't even be standing here."
She gave him a smile of her own and a look that seemed to invite him closer yet was just a hint of dangerous as well. She wondered if he'd ever gored anything with those horns. The light catching the blood as it dripped off the tips as he raised his head in victory. Another shiver ran down her back and she had to swallow to compose herself.
Luckily his tone of voice sent any other thoughts out of her head. Her ears flicked back and then had to realize he was reacting in much the same way she had when he'd suggested without intending that she was weak. Seemed they both had their issues when it came to appearing weak and unworthy. Kepi pride at it's finest she supposed for all the good it ever really did. She saw him try to distract himself. Was he ashamed of his temper? Well a short fuse was nothing to really be proud of but anger could be a powerful tool when used properly. "Use it." she said gently moving a bit closer. "The anger, rejection, the loneliness. Use it to fuel yourself when you think you can't go on anymore. Use it to prove that no matter what anyone's said you matter and can do more than than anyone thought." she turned her head looking back towards the beach, the breeze lifting her mane slightly. "Use it to make yourself armor and guard your heart so no one can ever hurt you again..." she trailed off obviously lost in her own thoughts with her own personal demons.
