Travis nodded, liking that he actually understood what Ace was saying. It meant he was learning. "Oh, really?" he asked when told about the classes. He'd heard something about it, but not really looked into it. "A succubus?" Travis had a mental image of a sexy demon, like from a video game, and gave Ace a strange look. It was odd to imagine the tall guy as a succubus. He was just starting to contemplate the what it must be like to be in a golem and attending strange classes when he heard one of his favorite words. "Extra money? We get paid extra to visit classes in golems?" How had he missed that? "How, um, how often are we allowed to go?"

"Yup, a succubus." Ace threw the trainee a charming playful wink notcing the glance. "Like what you'd imagined appearing in game, anime and so on. You look completely different when you're in one." He grinned delightfully at the sparkles inside Travis's eyes. "Sure, it's regarded as part of the testing for the golem, you just need to fill in a report. I'm not sure, it isn't fixed. Depends on your luck if you can see one goes up."

Yeah, Travis was still having a hard time picturing Ace as a succubus. Though with that wink, he might be able to play the part well. "So strange," he said, thinking about how odd it was that the hunters had the technology to just...put you in a different body. "I had no idea," he whispered, thinking about the extra pay for testing golems. "So," he said, "You just...kind of get lucky and find a class? Does the school there really just let anyone walk in? Are the golems really that...uh...realistic?" Ace knew so much, and Travis knew so little. It was definitely a 'teach me, senpai' moment.

"I'd say fun." He had a totally different opinion, those experiences he'd never had if he was still a normal human. They colored his dull life. "You could feel by yourself what only possibly happen in movies." Seeing Travis got the wrong idea, he chuckled. "Student golems simply speaking are like costumes. Actually, they are robots that you pilot with your mind. Your body is inside a pod at the labs rather than in that world." Ace paused for another trainee to follow. "In short, most of the Halloween students won't discover the differences, don't worry. And your sensation is connected to the golem, so you could feel what it feels with the only exception they're not for fighting, or eating and drinking." He suddenly felt lazy to explain stuff in details, that wasn't what he was good at.

"I see," Travis was trying to follow. "It does sound a bit fun. So it's like acting?" The word 'movies' brought acting to his mind. "But you stay in the pod room...the same one where we all woke up in?" This was a lot of information. "And like, the students won't realize anything is different if we act well enough? But we can't eat or drink or anything?" Travis was nodding. His questions were more just...him thinking out loud than anything. "I guess that makes sense." He looked down at the shortcakes again. "Can I have another?" Then he thought of another question. "Does Halloween food look tasty? Have you wanted to eat it?"

It was rather amusing to see Travis followed and thought of what he said with oblivious nods. "Kinda. We're indeed advised to act like the species of the golem we randomly assigned." Ace shook his head at his second question. "Nope, another room, with similiar set-up. Correct." That was a smile for his third, glad that he didn't need to explain further about the mechanical aspects about those fancy golems. Ace enthusiatically gestured to the cakes, "Sure." Take as many as you want. I promise I'll at least finish this one.
"Someone told me they taste awful to humans, like stuffing a handful of sands into your mouth. If - you really want to try, you can eat a fear candy that is supposed to be fed to minipets when you're on minipet duty." He playfully suggested, didn't encourage or warn Travis.

"Oh, okay." He was just learning so much today. It was so crazy that they could even do any of this. He wasn't sure how he felt about randomly assigned golems, though. Travis didn't think that he could pull of being a succubus like Ace had. He grabbed another cake, but paused before taking a bit. "Fear Candy? Would that be like eating a dog treat? I don't want to try dog food, but I wouldn't mind seeing what Fear Food was like. Have you ever tried it?"

Ace laughed out at Travis's question, as if he heard something incredibly funny. "You're quite cute, man. Didn't I tell you I dislike sweets just a while ago?" In other words, the answer was no. "It's more than dog treat. You know, the halloween beings only reply on fear to survive. So fear candy is simply foods, not especially made for pet. It's like a dose of energy to keep their life longer for various objectives."

"Cute?" Travis raised an eyebrow. He wasn't sure if Ace was joking or not...or maybe poking fun at him. He wasn't offended, but a little confused. It did make sense, though. "Right, I guess all the food would be the same." It was odd to think about minipets eating the same thing as the actual citizens. "But like. What happens if we try to eat in a golem? We can't taste anything, can we?" Food and money were what concerned Travis, it seemed.

"Um, I think you'd better consider it." The Sun trainee warned. "One, if you damage the golem, you're gonna pay for it with your coming salary and I can tell you life shits aren't cheap." He raised another finger before he stated another point he shall pay attention. "Two, I'm not sure for the validity but it looks like IF you eat while in a golem, you will feel a super nasty stomachache. Golems are not made to digest foods, they don't have such equips." Clearly halloween foods would be a gamble-with-life case.

"What? They make us pay if we damage them?" Well that sucked. He looked at Ace's fingers. He was paying attention, yes. This was all very important to know. "A stomachache? That would be...terrible, I guess." He scratched at his nose. "So, just go to Halloween and take classes. Don't eat anything, no matter how good it looks. Got it." He gave Ace a very serious look. "Does anyone study their food? Or like, is their food just the same Fear as they are?"

Ace was glad the trainee was paying attention but sigh inwardly when he asked him complicated questions again. Really, the boy's curiosity could beat his. "Do you know someone from Life division? They're specialized in finding, studying, doing experiments about the Halloween." He pointed Travis towards the professionals before he said something he knew. "That world was made of fear, like how our world is made of elements. Yet, they need to actively harvest fear from humans to maintain their world." He felt as if he was a teacher and it sounded funny enough. "Fear is not a good thing to humans, and their foods are made of condensed fear. That was why they taste like sands to us. Fear isn't something essential to our body and our body would reject it." It felt tired to say so many words, even it wasn't the morning.

"I've not talked to anyone from Life. Maybe I should," Travis nodded. "Oh, right. Someone mentioned something about that. The harvesting of Fear." He kind of understood, but he'd always been better with learning through experience than books and such. "I guess that makes sense. If we don't need it it tastes horrible." The same way salt tasted good, or sugar, and poison usually tasted not so good. Travis spent a long moment thinking about all of this. Food and fear and tastes. Then he took another bite of a cake. "This one is blueberry."

Ace was glad he finally let go. "Library's your good friend if you can't met any life hunter in short time." Talking about the library, he suddenly missed Thezil, the object head student he met in Haunted House. He was an intruiging being that amused him a lot. "Blueberry's good for eyes." He randomly commented, sighed when he got Catherine's reminder. Ace then reluctantly picked up his for a bite, damn it the sweetness which couldn't wash off easily.

Travis nodded, since his mouth was full again and he'd already tried to talk with a full mouth once that day. After a few beats he managed to swallow enough to be decent. "Library. Good idea." He might try it. Maybe. "Oh, I didn't know that." He had no idea blueberry was good for eyes. "I think these weren't quiet ripe. There's real fruit, but they seem a bit sour." He frowned at the cake. "It's pretty good, otherwise." He might have forgotten about the description part of the deal. The eating part of the deal was the important part, right?
