Serana walked over to the crate and laughed a bit. "Well, you know, Iska wasn't exactly an easy customer to help." She opened the lid and tucked some hay under her arm. "He was quite the grumpy guy, making treating his fever and illness quite the challenge, but I managed to get through to him." As they walked towards the barn Serana told Talisia a story of one of the villagers she treated. "We had an old man in our village, you know the ones that are quite stubborn and don't like accepting help from others? Well, one day he became sick with a cough, it was really bad. And in order for me to give him medicine, I needed the other villagers' help. So I grabbed two really strong men to pin him down so he'd stop flailing and take his medicine. After that he got better, of course, and was as grumpy as ever, but deep down, I know he appreciated it." She chuckled. She really did miss the old days. Ah, well. I, myself must accept the help of strangers in order to grow stronger... Then I can go back to my people.

Talisia chuckled, "Ah yes. When i was in Oba all the janarim seemed to be a rather prickly few." The hybrid smirked, "Xaraan can be worse - you'll see on in a bit. Such tricksters they are." She was impressed though by the girl's stories. It seemed that if not for her rough fate that the girl would have made a great healer. Talisia's gaze was gentle as she studied the other iceling. A healer indeed. Still, just because the girl was a warrior it did not mean that she couldn't heal. "Ah, well I know of a few beasts that I may need you to do that too." Teased Talisia lightly, "So I'm glad that old man gave you some good experience." The hybrid held onto a bundle of her own hay as she finally moved around towards the front doors of the shelter. Shoving in the huge wooden doors Talisia listened to the family creak of the hinges. Inside was a huge stone hallway with long stalls lining up on either side. Many would think that the stalls were for giants with how high they reached the ceiling, but it was to give air and room to those resting inside. The heat from the forge also was connected to the building through a stone vent that a genius constructor had build underground of the building and came up through pockets of vents. It was just enough to make the temperatures a little more bearable during the coldest of nights. The rest she did by supplying blankets and hay for the stalls. As they walked in, Talisia glanced back towards Serana. "Take your time to look around if you would like. I need to sort out who needs what still." Though as she placed down her bundle of hay on a work table a loud bang did get her attention. From the front of the stalls emerged a blue and white Xaraan with attitude. "Shyam!" Talisia laughed as her own familiar bombarded her with sqwaking. Holding out her arms she wrapped them around the long neck of her usual mount, "This is one of those trickster's I told you about." She looked over to Serana, "He's a Xaraan from Oba and apparently is upset that I didn't get a chance to go on a run with him this morning." She patted the beak lovingly of the creature as he grew silent and studied the stranger, "Behave yourself, Shyam. We'll get to the run later." She shook her head and glanced at Serana, "Don't worry he only nips at men. He'll try to stick to you though so just watch out for any treats - he loves to snatch the whole bag."

Serana followed Talisia into the area and placed her hay on the table like she did. She smiled at the hybrid's affection for the beast. "Ah, so you're the wise guy I've heard so much about, huh?" She giggled at the beast and teased him, "Well, I've got my eye on you, sir." She looked around at the various containers and objects around the room. There were so many things to help tend to beasts, she couldn't even fathom what all of them were used for. Different tools for different situations I suppose... "Well, I will wait here and keep an eye on Shyam while you get things sorted out. He and I are going to have a little bonding time." She said as she carefully approached him.

Talisia smiled at the interaction. It was always refreshing to see a youth how had so much life about her and didn't mind bantering with the animals. If Zyphire wasn't in Oba currently Talisia could imagine that he would have taken a liking to the girl. Probably for the best else he'd get himself a black eye for being a flirt. Talisia almost rolled her eyes at the thought, "But sounds good." She focused back on Serana, "It'll only take a few. I'm just worried about a raptrix pup who broke his wing."
That stated the hybrid marched down and could be seen popping in and out of stalls with various noises of different creatures greeting her as she worked.
Shyam, however, was intent on bobbing his head and walking around Serana. Strangers often got his attention but when his beak approached her it was to look around her shirt and pants for any tell-tale signs of a treat pouch. Clicking his beak the creature pulled back and looked at her almost as if in protest since he didn't find anything of interest.

"Ah-" She watched the beast as he circled her. "No, sir. You won't find any treats here," She said with a chuckle. She looked as Talisia went in and out of stalls, wanting to follow her to the different creatures she had here. Come to think of it, she had never seen a raptrix before. Their kind were getting more and more rare to see. Was that... The beast I saw before when I first got here? She walked towards the stall she was tending, carefully and quietly as to not startle the beasts. "Is he okay? Do you need any help?"

Shyam seemingly pouted before simply clicking his beak at the girl and going on his way. If he wasn't going to get treats then there was no need for his attention to last on the stranger for much longer. Instead the Xaraan seemed content to do his own thing as Serana wandered closer to Talisia. " Shh, shh." Talisia looked up as Serana approached her, " Hm? Sure." The hybrid smiled, " Just hold his paw? He's a baby so he won't rip your head off for it, but he does love whining. Isn't that right Cloudy?" She made a face before reaching out to rub the gray raptrix's forehead, " I need to check his wing and make sure its set and give him more sleeping medicine so he can doze it off." She gestured towards a small clay medicine bottle that was on the ground next to her, " If you're daring enough we could see if you could feed it to him for me? There's treats right next to it in that pouch and it's easiest to just mix the two."

Serana grabbedthe medicine and treats and put it beside her. she reached out to hold his paw, ready to feed him the medicine. She looked at the cute little guy and adored him. "He's so cute," she whispered. She slowly reached out pet his head as Talisia did, to show that she meant no harm. She let him sniff her before gently stroking the top of his head. "It'll be okay..." she said in a soothing voice. She watched as the hybrid examined his wing and waited for the queue to give him medicine and treats.

Talisia held onto the wing and for a few moments stood quietly while her gaze skimmed over the feathers and the crooked nature of the thing, " Shh, shh." She repeated as she slowly lowered the wing again and fit the brace around it, " He'll have to keep it outstretched a little while yet." She glanced up towards Serana, " Even if I healed him now with any magic the poor guy would find himself a crooked wing. Most don't understand that and think it's silly to do medicine more traditionally, but healing magic doesn't mean complete miracles can happen. Maybe for the most advanced mages perhaps, but I'm just a beast tamer yet after all."Still she glanced towards the pouch of treats and nodded, " Feel free to give it to him now. I've finished setting his wing so he should be ready - he knows."

Serana smiled at the baby and broke a treat in half. She tucked the medicine into one half, and put them back together. The result was an odd looking treat, but she took a few more in her hand and fed them to the raptrix. Hide them away in the treats, and he will unknowingly take his medicine. She held her hand up to his mouth, and as he ate the treats from her hand, he tickled her palm licking up the crumbs, making her giggle a little. "Now, now, my hand is not a treat, silly." She pet his head again and stood up. Serana looked at Talisia and said, "Well, this shouldn't be so bad. I'm ready for whatever task you have for me next." She smiled as she put the treats and medicine back.

Talisia smiled as she watched how the younger woman interacted with the pup. It was refreshing to see someone else who had the same gentle reaction to creatures that she did. Perhaps then when her time was over Talisia was more assured that she could find someone to take over her sanctuary. Not that it was anywhere close to her time. The hybrid smiled in quiet amusement. She wasn't going to kneel over that easily nor anytime soon. " You think? I haven't asked you to muck the stalls yet." She teased lightly, " But I think we're good for today. They've all had their medicines and the place is warm since the fire is going strong. We should just leave them to rest and then we can do the same." She held out an inviting hand, " Let's get you to your room Serana."She would get the young woman settled into a guest room and then they could go from there. Still, Talisia was thankful that her home could be used to help any in need as was proven today. Coming back to Zena surely hadn't been such a bad call after all.
