Tyila had never felt such...malaise, in the face of a meal, as she felt from Mishaath right then. She was entirely focused on patting and scratching along the dragon's face and neck, eyes never leaving the poor green even as they began to sting, then water, then drip fat sad tears down to track across her cheeks. She'd done this. Caused this. Let it happen. Honestly the green was taking down the aloe as best she could—the taste was almost non-existent—but it felt so wrong to be eating (and more wrong that it felt wrong to do something she otherwise enjoyed). It caused no additional immediate pain, so it wasn't as rough as it could have been, probably, but it was still unenjoyable. The sorrow from her rider was both help and hindrance. she wanted to do well and get better to help her Tyila, but it slightly tinged her own mood, and there was a near moment before the last of it went down where she almost pulled away from Dristan.

She managed it though, and as soon as the healer's hands were free from her jaws the green coiled up (pain aside) to wrap as best she could around her weeping rider. "I-it's going to be okay now Mishaath, I promise," The girl was nearly hiccuping, one hand messily brushing the tears from her face as the other clung to the green. "You did so well Mishaath, a-and Dristan, th...thank you so much, I don't know what I'd have done if she...if she..." Unable to think about it, Tyila shot a look of pure relief and gratitude to the dragonhealer before burying her face in the green's side.

She's just so emotional man, poor things!

A profound sense of relief swept through Dristan when the Green managed to get the last of the aloe down. "There now, it will be okay. You'll be just fine. She's going to be all right, Tyila. Never you fear. You did what was right for her by bringing her to me when you did. She'll be well, and soon. That I promise. And let me get you a feeding schedule worked out-- it will have to commence after she starts to feel better. What she's feeling right now is just bloating and constipation. That will pass, but she might not desire food for a time. That is all right. When you do take her out to the pens, you'll be able to select something small at first, something that she favors. You'll both know when it's okay for her to eat again. The aloe won't take long to work through her system, and you'll both feel so much better when you've gotten this all out."

The poor things. It truly hurt him to see them suffering as they were, but at least he had seen this before and knew how to handle it. And, additionally, knew when a case was likely to progress to the right level. "I've treated thicktail so many times before. She's not my first patient, nor will she be my last, but you both have this in hand now. You'll be able to get back to a normal diet and it will feel so much better than eating too much or too little. Here, I'll write it up right now." He went to his desk and began to write out a timeline for her feeding schedule, indicating when she ought to eat just a little bit more. "We'll need to further discuss this at some point, but for now this will do," he said as he finished penning it out. The healer turned, rolled up hide in hand, and awaited them both, not wanting to rush handing the schedule over. They needed this moment together.

Tyila took several moments to even realize that Dristan was still speaking to her. All her thoughts were bent inwards, to the place she and Mishaath shared in their linked minds. Wordless rushes of comfort and emotion surged between them, and guilt, fear, relief, and at last, love layered over and over each other in such harmony that, in the way only those bound by dragonbond could understand, the pair came to a full and complete understanding of each other and themselves in a matter of moments.

She hurried to mop the mess of her face up as she finally caught the fact that the dragonhealer was still talking to her. Her smile was watery as she reached for the scroll, and she was still pressed flush to the green's jaw, but as genuinely bright as he'd yet seen from the small woman. "Thank you again Dristan, I don't...I know that to you this is something common, mundane, but...We were both afraid, and well, thank you." She pulled the scroll to her chest before tucking it into a pocket or pouch, determined to read it later, once they were safely ensconced back in their weyr, and once Mishaath's issue had...begun to be handled.

"You're...sure though that there's nothing we could do to thank you, repay you?" The green too had fixed her eyes, whirling deeper blue now not form her own relief but that of her rider. "We'd be happy to, in any way, if there's something."

Watching a dragon and rider commune was... somewhat painful. Dristan averted his gaze, feeling as though he was intruding on a deeply private moment. This was the type of closeness he had longed for, and while he could not have it himself, he was glad of it all the same. It allowed for the deeper healing that dragons and riders both could do for one another. From the heart out. Rarely was there a problem that could not be surmounted by that communion.

Ah, there was no use thinking on what might have been. The truth was that this, right here, was his calling. He'd been born to be a dragonhealer, and he knew that at the end of it all he would not regret a moment of it. When Tyila responded to him he was almost startled by it, but he quickly regained his composure. "There is no monetary way that you can repay me, but perhaps you might be willing, both of you, to lend me a ride from time to time? My weyrmate is not always able to do so, you see. It would help so much. But only, of course, as you are able. Otherwise, I assure you that my needs are very much met. When you are both well enough to do so, you should return to your weyr so that Mishaath can get the rest she needs... and begin to carry out the business of clearing her system. Please do let me know if you need anything, anything at all." He would, of course, be more than happy to oblige.
