~Rowan~ "There used to be a point to everything, but since that day I can't seem to find myself caring about anything anymore. It's not because I don't want to, but because it's best if I don't." ▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄
"It was probably created a long time ago, probably close to the beginning. That was when all the continents were created, so why should this one be any different from the other ones? I mean, what else could possibly create multiple floating islands except for the creatures from legend." Rowan stated, shrugging slightly at Blake's curiosities. It was one thing for the two of them to be talking about something like a beautiful cave or a finely-crafted castle. This, however, was a simple matter of a continent. Nothing in the modern age was capable of creating something like this, and if they were then they would be hunted down by every nation to become a part of their kingdom. That was simply how things worked in the modern age, as despicable as that might seem. "I'm just curious about what happened to all the other lifeforms on this rock. All I've seen are dragons and dragonkin. I know that they're brutes, especially from what I've seen of them, but it doesn't make sense for all the other races that probably inhabited this place to just die out because of them." Rowan stated, confused about the current state of the island.
Their conversation, however, was cut short very quickly by the arrival of a dragon of all things. Rowan had heard the flapping of its wings long before the creature finally appeared before the two of them. With its appearance came more dragonkin soldiers as well, a platoon of them to be exact. The sudden appearance of more enemies made Rowan groan slightly, obviously not wanting to deal with anymore dragon-related enemies until he had found the one that killed him. As such, he merely glared at the adult green dragon, which caused the creature to back up slightly, obviously afraid of the look in Rowan's eyes. In an instant, the man was taking off, ready to cut down his archenemy. Blake's words had managed to reach him, that she would be able to take care of the other enemies, yet Rowan did not seem as if he heard her, his eyes showing a wild look as he teleported around the green dragon. The creature, surprised, was merely firing off its breath attack all around itself, trying to hit the man before he had a chance to draw his blade.
The dragon, however, was unsuccessful in its attempts, merely keeping Rowan at bay for no more than a minute. Within that time, he had drawn his sword and turned it into Balmung, the fiery anti-dragon sword gleaming in the light of the sunset. When Balmung finally appeared, a few dragonkin soldiers caught sight of it and began to flee for their lives, obviously not wanting to deal with the bane of their existence. "Just keep your eyes on your enemy Blake. Don't let them get the drop on you, and aim for the eyes. That's their weakest point. Especially on the humanoid ones." Rowan instructed Blake, trying to give her pointers on how to take out the soldiers she was left fighting. The young man still had a while look in his eyes, yet his voice was completely rational. Even Rowan did not understand what he was feeling at this moment, his mind all over the place. All he knew for sure was that he wanted to slay the dragon he was fighting. Eventually, that desire proved to be successful, as the young man finally removed the head of the creature, cutting it down before it could fly off. "Don't try to run from me. Just accept the fate you walked into." Rowan stated, mostly to himself, as he sheathed his sword and looked over towards Blake. "Are you alright?"

≎ 𝕭lake 𝕿rinity ≎ Ⓜⓐⓖⓔ "Yeah, I'm okay. Just a little sore from last night," Blake stated rubbing her upper arm with her hand. If it hadn't had been for Rowan, she might not have thought to stay that extra step ahead, ready enough to be prepared for an attack she otherwise might've missed. "Thanks, though, for the tips. Luckily, most of them booked it when they realized you had the capability to take them down in a heartbeat. One of them gave me some extra trouble, but me and the guys had it handled. Just got a little too close for comfort." The shield on her arm had been made rather hastily, so it was already breaking down in a light blow glow. Both done with their duties, the wolves looked up at their summoner expectantly. Although she felt their desires to be dismissed back to the Astral Plane, Blake had something else on her mind. For all intents and purposes, Rowan had sounded rather normal when he'd spoken to her during this encounter. It was relieving hear that he was seemingly fine, but it didn't entirely negate her worry. He'd successfully taken down the dragon with which they'd been faced, decapitating the creature in a visibly easy manner when it had tried to fly off. That wasn't surprising at all nor exactly what she'd been nervous about. "What about you, Rowan? We should probably keep moving...in case the sounds of a fight attracted anyone else, right?" Whether or not he didn't want her to worry about him, something like that just wasn't in Blake's nature. She also didn't quite feel like faking apathy, either, so she'd asked anyway before heading further into the forest. For the most part, the woman was prepared for any backlash from such a simple question.
It was actually not too long before she heard it. A whistling sound echoing over and through the trees. Blake narrowed her eyes, trying to place the noise before her thoughts were suddenly interrupted Rowan, pulling the half elf off of her feet and out of the way. She looked up at the Knight and was about to ask what was going on when the sound of cracking earth caught her attention. It was with just enough time that he'd moved, a large ax tearing through the ground on which the two of them had just been standing. The familiarity of the weapon made Blake's eyes widen. A shadow passed above them before a dragon kin woman landed atop the ax, the dragon kin woman. Several others began emerging from the forest around them, surrounding the Knight and Mage and posing a major problem. The half elf's body seemed to be able to react before her mind could catch up, taking only a small step away from Rowan before training an adamantine arrow on the woman, ready to fire. There's no mistaking it...that's her. She's the one who started all this mess, a woman capable of slaughtering an entire Carmillion platoon. This is the dragon kin witch that tortured and killed Ian... stripped him of everything before I brought him back to face such a reality. I... I wasn't expecting to find her until we'd at least found their civilization! Wh-what are we going to do? It was terrifying enough taking on just her, but we can't be sure of the strengths of all these people. How did we get surrounded without noticing?! I figured Rowan would at least use that technique two more times before we'd even consider this an option. She, she deserves to die; more than anyone I can think of, she deserves it. All the innocent lives she took...What she did to my best friend, no, more than that... Can we do this, though? I-I'm... Blake didn't want to admit it, not even in her thoughts. Her heartbeat was pounding in her ears, her jaw was locked, and her chest revealed how sporadic her breathing was. Her body language and expression were mostly calm despite those minute factors, however. Despite being absolutely petrified, Blake refused to give these people the satisfaction of her fear.
The woman's question came as a surprise. Had the two of them gotten so close to the kingdom that she thought she was defending it? Perhaps the word of the approaching wielder of Gram spread faster than she'd thought possible, given they'd only been in this place a little close to a day. "R-Rowan, that's..." her voice trailed off. She'd thought about replying to the wench's question, but Blake couldn't fathom the idea of speaking to this woman without stuttering, crying, or throwing up. No, this was exactly like Rowan had described only a few days back. We can't let our fear shake us. Whether or not we're afraid, we're still taking this woman on. There's a reason we're both here. Rowan and I...we can do this. The magus took a deep breath and steadied herself with a determined expression, fire lighting up in her green eyes. "Invasion's actually rather large-scale for us. We're actually just out here hunting," she stated. It was almost surprising how smoothly the words flowed. Her eyes were moving between the snake of a woman and the twenty or so other soldiers. Although she was ready for any sort of movement, she still wasn't quite sure how'd they'd go about this. Blake could take on the soldiers with a summon and herself, but that was really dependent on how strong they were. She did know, however, that even with all of her summons, that she did not stand a chance against the white-haired dragon kin, not alone. The only one who could take her on between the two of them was her Knight, the man who'd already died by her hand once before.

Congratulations! You managed to defeat the enemies that assaulted you. As you continue on the path, a sudden sound rings out through the forest. It is a whistling sound, almost like when someone spins a heavy, metal object in circles at a high velocity. Suddenly, your Knight grabs you and jumps out of the way with you while a large battle-axe crashes down from the sky and rips through the earth, sliding a few feet before coming to a stop. What happens next is the sight of a woman jumping overhead and landing on the axe, her clawed foot on the blade as she looks back at you with a taunting look. Her pure white hair seems to be a clear sign of who she is. She is, in fact, the woman you have been searching for. Additionally, many soldiers jump out of the forest around you, surrounding you. There has to be at least twenty soldiers. "So, you wanna invade our kingdom?" A female voice asks in a malevolent tone.

That age-old familiar whistle filled the air, the sound that signified that only death was coming to all within the area. Quiet at first, it picked up as it carried on through the forest, creeping towards them at such an unimaginable speed that one might think it was some living creature stalking its prey. Rowan, however, understood exactly what the sound was, exactly what it entailed. His life, his comrades, his family, all reproduced that sound whenever he thought back to them, whenever he contemplated what he had done with his life. This sound was more than just some metallic whistle, it was a sorrowful tune. It was a tune so elaborate, yet simple, that anyone could mistake it for simply being a natural occurrence. The truth, however, was that it was a horn, an item that possessed the sole purpose of calling out war upon whomever was in the current area. Yes, Rowan knew exactly what this sound was, and he was not about to let his precious Mage fall victim to this sound as he had. Before it even came into sight, he had swooped her up into his arms and jumped a clear twenty feet from their original position, the item of interest crashing into the earth and skidding quite a bit of distance away.
As Rowan landed, he heard the sound of clawed feet gripping onto the metal; the enemy he had been expecting was finally making their grande entrance. Blake was stammering, trying to tell him who it was that was standing on top of the large battle-axe. Rowan knew who it was... and he was not going to talk, to respond. To him, the outside world had faded away with just the two of them now in it, a blank area with only that woman and him about to battle. Her words about invasion were lost on him, the rage slowly building up as he became more and more enamored with the idea of taking out all the pain and misery he had been subjected to. Yes, the moment he had been waiting for, clamoring around and acting like a mindless piece of furniture for, was beginning to happen. This was the defining moment of whether or not he could honestly call himself human once again, or if he would fall into the depths of the world's darkness and never reach anyone ever again. For once, he was given the choice he never had, to fight. "A hunter never lasts long in the wilderness. They search for more and more powerful enemies, until that desire consumes them..." Rowan stated, something that seemed to be a quote from somewhere.
Within a blink, he had disappeared for a clear five seconds, not appearing anywhere around them or seeming to exist at all. It was not like he turned invisible. He had simple teleported to an area that lacked most invisibility to hide in momentarily, to gain a psychological advantage. Soon, however, he had appeared again, with Balmung already drawn, and was in the action of cleaving a small platoon of five soldiers straight in half, his eyes in a wild frenzy. Once again, he was being subjected to that anger, that frustration from earlier. Something was possessing him, although his combined mental state from the situation was also causing a rather abnormal effect. Instead of just blinding hacking his way through everything, there was a cold calculation to the madness, almost as if he was in control of the tactic, but now how they were taken into account. Both mad yet collected, he was fighting with the desire to simply decimated the entire force of soldiers, almost as if he was placing himself in the shoes of the woman who had killed him. Was it a kind of psychological recreation of the scene, or simple revenge?
Either way, he did not wait till the end to take on his main target. After the first platoon was destroyed, he warped again, appearing in front of the woman with a crazed look in his eyes, a madness that seemed to possess every fiber of his being. "I'm going to make you feel all of the pain... every disturbing memory that you carved into my mind." He stated is a cold, almost psychotic way, and began to spin with Balmung, the blade creating two strikes at once as it slowly began to cut and cut at her. He was a like a spinning, razor top, ready to rip through her defenses and chop her into little pieces. The flaming, anti-dragon weapon would probably also give off the impression that he was not playing around in this fight, that he wanted this woman to be obliterated in the most painful way possible. The question was, however, how he would take his revenge should he win. Would it be a simple affair, or would he enact his revenge by making her suffer as much as he had after their fight had ended. With Rowan in such a crazy state, even he could not tell how this battle would end up should he win the fight.

NATALIA - - - - - "Let me show you the supreme art that is war." NPC→ Dragon Kin→ "Soldier" These two had quite the aesthetic dichotomy, a trait that proved to Natalia this was indeed the pair for which she'd been looking. Reports were coming back from her frantic kin that the wielder of the genocidal weapon Gram was on the platform accompanied by a light-haired elf woman. Natalia had been quite impressed that they were keen enough to dodge her first attack. It would only prove logically. An Armament like Gram wouldn't choose an incapable wielder. That much did, however, mean that this would be quite the battle. From what she knew and could tell, the duo before her were a Knight and Mage pairing, statistically putting the dragon kin at an immense disadvantage. Luckily, Natalia was accompanied by a troops of fellow soldiers, though the woman immensely doubted that they'd all survive this battle. This man...despite being the wielder of the bane of her entire race's existence, he did not look more than a human. How interesting... Though it is quite unfortunate they will not be making it pass this point. That thing and its wielder, I will destroy them both. Her focus momentarily switched over to the elf girl, pointing an arrow she'd created out of thin air at the dragon kin. Really, dear? You think that will have any sort of effect on me? How adorable. Still, she has a look in her eyes that begs to be taught a lesson, and I do so love instructing... Perhaps it would be best to remove the weak link first.
Hunting, huh? What kind of moron was this girl? Just bringing that Armament to their land was an outright declaration of war. There were no ifs, ands, or buts about that. What a joke. This was nothing short of an invasion, one that she'd stop single handedly. She giggled quietly as anticipation consumed her. Oh yes, they were going to be stopped, torn asunder, bloodied, and killed. I'll be taking that Armament home to hang on my wall, even if I have to cut it off of you, sir. In fact, that is how I'd prefer to acquire it. The male darkly murmured something rather profound, something that she could only agree with, before disappearing completely. Natalia narrowed her eyes, gripping her weapon tightly and preparing for where and if he'd show up again. Was this invisibility? That'd definitely help him when it came to her gravity control, not that he had any idea of that. Maybe he was running to leave his poor Mage behind to fight for herself. The thought made the woman grin before effortlessly pulling her massive battle axe from the ground and twirling it up onto her shoulders.
The young man re-appeared, however, brandishing a massive sword with a similar aesthetic to Gram before slashing right through a small chunk of her men. As I suspected, they don't stand a chance against this man. Although, he seems much stronger than I expected! She giggled again and readied herself when he disappeared into thin air. Not even a thought could cross her mind before he was in front of her, a wild look in his eyes. He's here already?! The woman tilted her head at his statement and moved to dodge his attack. A hint of realization crossed her face when she noticed the image of a second fiery blade along with the original before bending into a back handspring away from the guy and his flurry of attacks. "I'll be taking this one on, boys! You can take a little magic-user, can't you? You're powerful, aren't you? This is going to be fun," she stated when back on her feet. "I believe, though, that you've clearly mistaken me for someone else," Natalia explained. "I'd remember as cute a man as you, and I'm not in the business of leaving my enemies alive. Habits like that are for the weak!" Natalia laughed and the ground cracked beneath her feet when she launched herself forward, spinning her battle axe vertically intending to slice the young man in twain. If the attack was stopped, a powerful clawed hand would shoot forward in an attempt to pierce the man's chest. This needed to be ended quickly, especially with the demon arm in the fray. As long as he didn't disappear again, her ability would work well enough to allow appropriate openings. The dragon kin focused on the enemy's sword while dashing toward him, normally causing such a weapon to become immeasurably heavy.

~Rowan~ "There used to be a point to everything, but since that day I can't seem to find myself caring about anything anymore. "Remain strong, never throw down your weapons, and always remember your first duty is to Carmillion. You are the first line, you are the last line, you are the only line. Think anything otherwise and our country may face defeat during battle. You are the only men we have, the only ones able to protect us in the case of a war." Memories echoed in his mind, the voices of his superiors, his brethren, his military family. All of them were in his mind. His life, his former life, was in his mind. After everything that had happened, after everyone had died at this woman's hand, he was here to rectify that tragedy, to take revenge for them. When he was brought back to life, he remembered going to a ceremony held for the missing soldiers, watching their families attend, watching friends attend, and even fellow classmates. The tears, the anger, the rage that they all expressed at having lost everyone they cared about. Then there was him, the man that was brought back to life while they all had to suffer. Such a tragedy, it was enough to enrage the most noble of men, of kings. To watch those people suffer, the people he grew up studying with, it fueled him with intense hatred.
The weak, that was all this woman cared about. She wanted to be strong, to break the weak, to consume them and then move on to whoever is stronger after that. A monster that simply moved on from one point to the next, eradicating foe after foe without ever thinking back to them again. This dragonkin probably did not even remember the third scouting unit, the men she obliterated and left for dead. Just the thought of something so... so unjust, it fueled him with unimaginable rage. That rage was merely met with equal feelings of hatred from Gram, the two of them emitting a strong aura, a strong desire to kill, in unison. There were no separate feelings, an idea that maybe the weapon was controlling him and preventing him from acting as he should. No, Rowan was perfectly in unison with it, their feelings matching each other in intensity. Whatever the reason that Gram had been invented, those feelings were being replicated exactly by Rowan right now. I won't die here. I won't stop fighting. Even if my body breaks, my bones shatter, and all the vessels in my body rupture, I will slay you. He thought to himself, watching the woman as she began to spin her axe.
It's surprise that will catch her off guard. I remember how she fought, I remember everything. That's where this fight is different. I did my job in getting her to ignore Blake. Now it's time to hit her before she has a chance to figure out my own level of knowledge. She had dodged his former attacks rather easily, although she seemed to have been taken off guard considering her expression. The young man simply stood still watching the woman as her axe began to spin and spin... although it seemed to be more her using her strength rather than that ability. If she's refraining from using it, then I'll simply take her out while she's toying with me! Rowan thought waiting for the axe to start coming down before he, instead of blocking it, went straight for slashing her across the body. Her axe, however, was also struck with a similar hit, and with an incredible force from the size, that might have knocked it out of the way. Rather than being defensive, Rowan was simply using his doubled offense to act as both attack and shield, to keep from being on the defense in this situation.
"If you're not going to take me seriously, then I'll kill you before this even starts!" He shouted, creating demonfire and simply bathing the area around him in it. The idea was to surround himself in the fire, keeping her from attacking him too much without risking being burned. Once the fire was high enough to obscure him, however, he would simply teleport from it and appear near the woman, his eyes still containing an incredibly murderous intent. Additionally, if she tried to attack him again after blocking her axe, he would simply teleport as well, gaining a better point of attack before unleashing a flurry of blows. At this point, he was trying to stay within the limits of his body, to prevent further destruction of it. Everyone died. Everyone was murdered. You killed them. You killed me. And now... you're trying to... Suddenly, at the thought of something gold and green flashing in his mind, Rowan was sent into a kind of rage, and simply began to slash over and over again, enraged, as he assaulted her with two strikes each multiple times, charging, teleporting, and simply using Gram to deflect strikes. With its status as an Armament, it would serve as a very frightening shield. He was keeping up an incredibly offense so that he woman would be incapable of being too threatening with her attacks. Although he was also prepared to teleport should he need to due to her ability, he might find that it would be hard for her to do so given Gram's ability. Not that he would know that was the case, nor would she.

≎ 𝕭lake 𝕿rinity ≎ Ⓜⓐⓖⓔ The dragon woman's laugh brought Blake back to Rowan's memories. That was right. She'd almost forgotten, but back then, the woman was laughing all the while tearing through the Carmillion soldiers before him. How could anyone like that- anyone like this exist? There was no possibility of the half elf's resolve shaking, but she was still fighting through the fear. Her Knight's voice brought her back to reality, the familiar sound initially calming her down. His words, however, were concerning. It almost sounded recited, like he'd heard it before and was repeating it now. She wondered from where such a statement came and worried about how it much it applied here. Back at the temple... had that been preparation for this? No, that was something... else. At least, she'd thought it was. Without any sort of explanation or confirmation, the woman was only assuming at this point; although, she had a feeling her hypothesis wasn't too off. Blake couldn't really wrap her head around it entirely, but this probably wasn't the time to be thinking about other things than the present.
After his statement, Rowan moved via teleport, but Blake couldn't tell where. She expected him to reappear immediately as usual, so the five-second hesitation felt like a lifetime, especially given the situation. When he did show up, his sword had already changed into the larger, more menacing appearance it took when wielded by Gram, and he was slashing several people in two. The direct, immediate kills were a little unnerving. These other dragon kin probably worked with and followed this woman, helped her even. This is what they were here for, after all. To take revenge for the ones that were brutally murdered. If there ever was a time for Blake to not take pity on the enemy, it was now. The thought made her uneasy. Rowan blinked again, teleporting to the dragon kin woman they'd come here for. He seemed totally engulfed with rage and not wrongfully. That was right. They were here to make her pay for her sins, for being the one to topple over the first domino that got them here... She wanted to know why, why the woman had slaughtered so many people and went out of her way to make an example out of Ian. Blake bit down on her lip.
All of them?! Even with Rowan's initial attack, there were still almost twenty left! Well then. Blake turned her body toward one of the soldiers now rushing her before an arrow whistled through the air and hit the man in the eye. Buy me some time, please. Her Astral Wolves appeared, slightly larger than usual, and began attacking the first wave of enemies. With a wave of the woman's hand, a thick curved metal wall formed, blocking off both her view of the barrage of attacks shared between her Knight and the dragon woman as well as her own immediate threat. It'd last enough time for her to summon. A large indigo-colored magic circle opened beneath the caster. "Assassin of nightmares and encroachments of dreams, I appeal to thee. As I grant you passage to the material realm, continue your work here as you do in the subconscious of all. Drive out my oppressors and keep my form from harm just as you do our minds. With your hands clasped and mine, let us work together to restore the peace. Custas, the beautiful somber maiden clad in stars, the gate between dreams and reality has opened. Plant your roots here and guide me." The words were murmured lowly. Just as the wall dropped, Blake lifted her arm and opened her hand. A white orb of light fell into the ground before star-covered drapery spiraled up to form the masked summon. It was so tall that Blake seemed to disappear behind it. The sound of creaking wood could be heard as branch-like limbs reached out from underneath the cloak of the summon and began attacking the dragon kin soldiers. One of the branches reached back to launch Blake into the air who fired an arrow into one of the enemy before rolling a landing in front of Custas with a new arrow strung.

NATALIA - - - - - "Let me show you the supreme art that is war." NPC→ Dragon Kin→ "Soldier" Is it not working? This guy should have expressed some kind of change in the weight of his weapon! Even if he were that strong, it wasn't as though Natalia held back. His lack of reaction aided her in her own, however, allowing her the moment to prepare for his swing. It indeed hit the blade of her axe, but she was lucky enough to keep her midriff back to avoid getting slashed in half. Rather than focusing her gravity control on her enemy's weapon, she switched to her own, making it lighter for easy recovery. The dragon kin pulled it back toward herself, twirling it around in her hand. With some dance-like steps backward, she readied her weapon again. How odd... Even if his strength were absolutely incredible, the weight I forced on his sword should have done something. Is it immune? Is he? She narrowed her eyes into a glare, staring at the man as he doused himself in flames. The woman's heart was pounding at the anticipation of what could be her first real fight in quite some time. All the same, his strange negation of her ability was frustrating. Thankfully, it only seem to be either centered around either his body or his sword, and she was still able to use it on other entities. Her eyes flicked over to the girl who had accompanied him. She seemed to be holding her own for now, but the blonde would serve as useful collateral if this guy gave two damns about his travelling companion. Getting rid of the girl held the possibility of nerfing the competition. A summoner, huh? Is that the best she has? Cutting her down could turn the tide in this fight if these two are connected. Heehee, looks rather easy to crush.
"You really want me at my full, dear?" If he really wanted to die that badly, then so be it. The moment before he disappeared, she used her mega gravity on her own body, making it incredibly light. It had once taken her quite some time to grow accustomed to such a sensation, but now- At the speeds she was capable, it was almost like matching the young man's teleport, swiftly blocking his strikes while returning a few of her own. She was surprised that he could keep up and that his sword could hold up, but it seemed he wasn't allowing her to get too offensive. It was difficult enough to move in on him as he was covered in fire. "Do you plan on annihilating my entire race with that disturbing arm of yours!? Or maybe this a more personal matter!? Catch sight of my work, perhaps?" There was definitely something more at work here with this guy's intensity. From their clothing, she could only assume that they were from Carmillion. There were quite a few more...interesting outings she'd taken to that area. She'd have to either significantly turn up the volume or turn down his. Rather than outright blocking one of his vicious attacks, she attempted to parry it, quickly swinging upward with the lower half of her two-handed weapon. Natalia broke into a quick spin, first attacking with her axe but then coming in with her spike-covered tail. The fire might be painful, but if it meant getting the upper hand in this fight, then so be it. It was dawning on her: this guy didn't pose as a challenge. With that damned Armament, he posed as a threat. She could only grin at this realization. One of these two groups was going to get wiped out here. I am most certainly having my fun with these two kiddos.

Is this you? A voice rang out in his mind, calling out to him as it continued its assault, relentless. "Run! Run and don't look back, Ian! There's nothing left for you here. There's no one to save. Just.... Just go!" The flood of voices was terrifying, yet oddly comforting at the same time. The more they rang out in Rowan's mind, the more calm he felt, the more his anger subsided. "Rationality is just as important as strength. You can move all the mountains in the world if that's your goal, but applying that strength blindly will never move a pebble." He was instructed, he was told. Soldiers may have been weapons... but swinging one wildly and without aim would both dull its blade and eventually destroy the sword itself. That was what he was taught in the military academy. "Yeah... I support you... but I don't agree with what you're doing. I don't... want anything to happen to you, son. You're all we have in this world..." The words were muttered... a sad tone to the voice that once belonged to Rowan's father.
Then it was as if reality suddenly came back into focus, as if the haze of hatred had slightly lessened, allowing thoughts to run through his mind once again. This was no longer a matter of obliterating the enemy.... it was defeating them. There needed to be a thought process, careful consideration, and a willingness to put the lives of others before his goals. Suddenly, everything was clear to Rowan, and his mind felt far more at ease than it had in the last few months. Maybe the adrenaline was calming him down some, giving him some clarity... but he was no longer a mad beast with nothing but rage in his eyes. No.... he was a Knight... he was Rowan. From his pocket... there was a slight tint of gold as he looked towards his opponent with clarity for the first time. It's time I show you just how strong I've become. I'll use my ultimate defense... Rowan thought to himself, watching her dive at him in a spin, apparently intending inflict some major damage. Rowan, however, merely turned ethereal, leaving the flames behind to cover the woman as her weapon and body passed through him. Simultaneously, he passed through the woman and became solid once again, spinning around and slashing at her with a great amount of force.
Whether it hit or not, Rowan would back away quite a ways and simply stare forward, taking a deep breath. That voice... was the same one as that woman's. The one from the lake. Why am I hearing her here though? Rowan reflected on that, staring daggers at his enemy. His eyes, however, were no longer filled with madness... but a sheer determination that was unbending... unbreakable. "I suppose... I should end it." Rowan stated, teleporting instantly. Where he appeared, however, was near all of the soldiers that had arrived with the woman. In one strike, he seemed to cleave their numbers in half, flames quickly spreading out to coat the rest of them. Time to reduce their numbers, and increase the likelihood of survival. With both of us focused on her, injuries will be kept to a minimum. He thought to himself as he teleported once again, several arrows piercing where he just was as he reappeared near the dragon woman. "We bare the scars of our past, whether they're visible or not." He stated, striking at her with great force behind his swing. "Even you have many, whether you've left them behind or gained them. Let's see just whose scars ache more..." He stated to her, a relentless onslaught of attacks beginning at this point.

All I am is a weapon, and that was all I was trained to be, since the beginning." Z.O.M.B.I.E.

≎ 𝕭lake 𝕿rinity ≎ Ⓜⓐⓖⓔ Blake couldn't help but to continually glance over at the fight occurring between the woman and Rowan. There were points where it was even difficult to see what was going on based on how quickly the two of them were moving. A couple screams caught Blake's attention as she realized Custas had kept some attackers off of her, throwing them over the canopy of trees. The summon was reaching out to one a little out of her range while he tried to fend her off. A dull noise could be heard as an arrow stuck in his chest. Blake was worried about what Rowan had said only a moment ago, that he was going to make the dragon woman feel what she'd done to him. That's not what we came for... I won't let you become what she is. I'll stop you if I have to. You're not the same as her. We can defeat her without considering such...extremes... The half elf's focus turned back toward her immediate enemies, drawing back her bow as a ribbon of blue light solidified into an arrow. I understand at least a little bit how you feel. I realize you've had to bear this all on your own. "Just," she murmured, "don't forge- wha? Rowan?" His appearance in the large group of dragon kin caught her off guard and interrupted her thoughts. He took out next to half of them in one swing before the flames started to spread. A few of them were aiming to fire at him. Blake did the same, hitting one of the archer in the head, but not soon enough to stop his and the other arrows from piercing...a tree. Rowan had already moved back on to the real reason they were here. Custas kept its attack up on the burning platoon. The Mage, on the other hand, kept her eyes on her Knight as he reappeared before the dragon woman. From both his demeanor and his words...he seemed composed. More so than he had been just a few minutes before. The realization felt as though a weight was lifted off of her chest despite not yet being out of the red. It wouldn't have meant a thing, she didn't think, if Rowan hadn't finished this in his right mind. Now that Blake was freed up, though, she'd be able to provide support. Don't be so stubborn to linger here in this place. May your souls move onward and find peace in their next lives.
The young woman's fingertips flipped open a pouch on her belt and touched the small bar of adamantine. An arrow of the material began to form on her hand, taking shape as Blake pulled the string of her bow back as far as she could. The aching of sore muscles bit at her arms, begging for an end, but the pain was easy to ignore. We're not just doing this for ourselves. It's for everyone. Everyone you hurt...and to protect everyone else from your hands. Just as a crisp spark flashed to show off the finished product, it disappeared to fly through the air toward the white-haired woman. The elf rapidly fired three more on the same path. I won't let you repeat what you did to them- what you did to him. That's going to end here. The cloaked summon turned to hover behind Blake. It was aware of who the "enemy" was. Although its main goal was to protect her, it'd fling more offensive attacks toward the dragon kin if the fighting between her and Rowan got within its range. A thick branch quickly reached out to snap at the woman before retreating back into the starry cloak where it belonged. The movement surprised Blake, causing her to turn back to the creature with an incredulous look. "Nice, Custas! Just make sure that doesn't become hindering for Rowan, got it?" she whispered.

NATALIA - - - - - "Let me show you the supreme art that is war." NPC→ Dragon Kin→ "Soldier" Something was weird. As the young man looked up toward her, Natalia could tell something was different. This was just before she'd landed the hit on him. That was her initial thought when the blade of her axe passed through the flame before only continuing to pass through flame, followed by her tail. The Knight's body had become completely transparent and ghost-like. Rather than slicing and smashing through his flesh, she was met with only fire. She gasped at the sudden pain, slamming her tail on the ground to rid it of the flames now clinging to it. There was a chilling sensation as her target walked forward, passing through her now. All she could do was glare at him with wide eyes. Is this the sort of power a Mage allows?! Who cares?! I'd be stronger than him if it weren't for the help. Looking back at him, Natalia was able to see him move in time to get her axe in between her and his sword. All the same, it held so much strength that it pushed her back several yards, even with her sharp claws digging into the earth. The man before her was giving her a look she normally pitied when worn by those weaker than her. All it made her want to do now was rip it off his face. To be fair, it usually ended the same way for the weaklings, as well. "End it? You can't possibly think you've beaten me! How childish!" She readied herself for an attack when he disappeared so was surprised when he moved to take out what was left of her underlings. How annoying. Even when taking someone else on one-on-one, his focus is still on keeping that brat safe. Guess she really is his Mage.
"Don't speak as if you know me," the woman growled between her fangs. She met his strike with one of her own. The reverberations it sent up the shaft of her polearm shook her elbows. Speaking of scars, this guy had quite a few of his own, from what she could see. Their severity and place were not unfamiliar to Natalia. There's no way it could be a coincidence, not here, not now. She raised an eyebrow as she began to either block or dodge his attacks, attempting to squeeze in some of her own. It was difficult with how relentless the Knight's were, however. Annoyed, she further decreased the gravity on her before using her axe to pole vault away from him. This wouldn't turn around if she couldn't get on the offensive. "Perhaps you do..." she murmured. "How exactly, did you get yours, darling?" A whistling sound caught her attention, and she danced out of the way with enough time to dodge the girl's first few arrows. "You're adorable if you think those'll do any damage to me." Little did she know of their honing capability, the last one pegging Natalia above her shoulder blade. The sharp pain forced her to grit her teeth as a hiss passed through them. What the hell? When she turned back to look at the brat, a large root was reaching out for her, something that could easily be cut with an axe. The dragon woman deftly dodged, however, before glaring at the creature that had attacked her. "You're interrupting!" she cried out, layering enough gravity onto the summoned figure that it should have been crushed under its own weight. Natalia made sure to keep the Knight in her peripheral. I'm running out of patience for this. I'll get rid of the weaklings first. That damned elf is next.

This was it, the final push! The excitement that welled up inside of Rowan was unlike anything he had felt before now, the young man not feeling anger nor joy. There was something else... almost as if he had accomplished a long-time goal just now. Was that what this entailed? His body dashed forward and started moving across the battlefield, weaving in and around boulders as he made his way towards his enemy. Yet, something else rang through him. For the first time since this fight started... since he had begun his vendetta, he could see clearly. Everything, everything was flashing through his mind as honed in on his prey. It was almost as if a ghost was haunting him, the vision of blue flames consuming his arm as he descended further and further down a path of destruction. What he saw was the true parasitic nature of his current self, what he was about to become. The images that flashed before his eyes conveyed a long-standing fear held by more than just him, one that meant the end of Rowan. Blue flames would consume him, and Rowan would end up becoming a second Gram.
Stand up.... and fight for what you believe in. You're.... Ian. No one else. That voice rang in his mind once again. His eyes then narrowed in on the woman in front of him, Gram's desire to slay her starting to creep throughout his body. This... this was exactly what had happened in the temple before. Gram was infecting him, turning him into something he was not. If he continued to use it like this... to let whatever was consuming him continue on, then there would be nothing left. How exactly did you get yours, darling? Her words rang in his head, her answer to his statement about scars from earlier. Were they still his own now? Or were they merely a product of the past, the scars born onto a man who had long-since left this world? What were "Rowan's" dreams and wishes. What... what did he truly want from this second life that he was granted. Being consumed with this vengeance, being on the verge of such a satisfaction... it was almost enlightening to him. With Gram's violent reactions, and the voice of that woman continuing to echo in his mind, Rowan was beginning to see that what he truly wanted... was not this.
In and instant he disappeared, appearing in front of the woman. What happened was, however, something entirely unexpected. The young man used his ethereal form to phase through her weapon, and grasp the young woman firmly on the shoulder. As such, all of her powers were destroyed, having been nullified by Gram, and Rowan proceeded to knock her to the ground as a result of the sudden change in gravity for her. Now I have to... Rowan thought to himself, launching himself on top of the woman and lifting Balmung high above his head while he used his knees to pin the woman to the ground, a look of anger and frustration in his eyes. What I want.... everything I've ever wanted. I... I... This was more than a fight between her and Rowan. It was an internal struggle that had started developing ever since Blake had confessed to him. The young man was torn between what he truly wanted in life.... what he wanted to be. He had long since given up being the Knight of some grande princess... but was he so ready to throw away what remnants of happiness he may be able to cling onto. The anger... the frustration, it all culminated in him bringing his sword straight down in front of him.
*Ching*
The sound echoed throughout the forest, as he flames around them began to die down and the destroyed platoon lay at the feet of their two enemies. It was a heart-wrenching sound, one that would probably echo for years. In the midst of the battlefield, Rowan was knelt onto the body of the dragonkin woman, flames beginning to quiet around them as the two of them came into focus a bit easier. Rowan's blade.... had struck the ground next to her head, proclaiming a symbolic victory over the woman. What was knelt on top of her was a man that was fighting every basic instinct within him, refusing to let who himself be lost in what Gram was trying to make him. "I.... win..." The words were simple, yet they would echo across the forest as he stated it as a fact to the woman. Such a humbling experience it must have been for her to face, a reality where a human managed to best her, and he even spared the life of the woman. What, however, did that exactly entail for her. "You're... mine now. I'm going to make you pay for all the pain you caused everyone.... by making you live a life dedicated to someone else."
Once again his words echoed throughout the forest, almost pained as he strained to form them. What better punishment for this woman than to become a servant to someone, to live her life for them. Surely she could not debate such a thing with someone who spared her life, who did not strike her dead when he was given the chance. The young man merely stared down at her with an intense look in his eyes, a fiery passion that showed the warrior that slept within him all those years. Yes... he was truly meant to be a Knight, from the day he was born to now. Rowan... despite not thinking it... was the exemplary Knight. "I won't... forget who I am..." He muttered, somewhat exhausted by the events that had transpired. It was probably safe for Blake to approach the two of them now as well, especially since this battle was most likely over.

NATALIA - - - - - "Let me show you the supreme art that is war." NPC→ Dragon Kin→ "Soldier" Natalia was about to lunge for the bratty girl when the Knight appeared in front of her. Back off, dear. That ability of yours is starting to get on my nerves. She swung for him, only to have her weapon pass through his ephemeral form. This again?! What happened next, however, left the woman dumbstruck. Between his force and the sudden change of her gravity, the young man quickly had her pinned to the ground. She growled loudly when the arrow in her back hit as well, pushing further into her shoulder. All she could manage to do was glare up at the one now about to take her life. That's hilarious. A human is about to take my life. I can't believe it. What the hell? I'm really going to die at the hands of a kid like this?! The ferocity in his eyes as he held the large sword told her exactly what was in store for her. Rather than struggling, Natalia just let her head fall backward into the grass as she awaited the blade to make the final blow. The shape of the dark sword passed by her view of the setting sun before she closed her eyes...
Natalia's eyes shot back open at the sound of metal hitting earth. Beside her was the blade of the Knight's weapon, leading up to him still over her body. The dragon kin's lips parted at his words as she stared up at the man, wide-eyed. Not minutes before this guy was screaming for her immediate destruction and now... Why the sudden change of heart? You win indeed, kid, but I'm not quite sure if you understand the implications of what that means in my culture. The fact that he beat her so thoroughly gave him seniority over her, superiority over her. It essentially meant they'd work for them. That much went for the platoon she'd brought here with her among others. There was no fighting him at this point. How very frustrating... I think I would have preferred dying. What the young man said next was even more shocking...and even more entertaining. Initially, she was more surprised by this than his decision not to take her out when he had the first opportunity. She couldn't even attempt to hold back the grin creeping onto her lips after, however. The woman considered asking him if he was quite sure of such a reckless decision. Not that he knew she immediately owed him loyalty, but only seconds ago, she was indeed his enemy. The idea of crushing that precious little Mage of his still sounded so very enticing. The look in his eyes, however, told her that he was dead serious.
Honestly, though. You're going to make me pay, huh? I wonder if you can... "...Eheheh! Fine, dear, if that's how you want it, then I'm at your service." It's not like she had much choice in the matter. It was either this or have her face sliced in half. One of these options definitely sounded prettier. Natalia let go of her weapon and relaxed the rest of her muscles to make clear her intent or lack thereof. "Does that mean I answer to that brat, as well?" she asked from beneath him, not really making any attempt to move but nodding toward the elf girl.

≎ 𝕭lake 𝕿rinity ≎ Ⓜⓐⓖⓔ An echoed cry rang out as Custas collapsed into splinters. One of my best summons destroyed in the blink of an eye?! This was the exact strength of which Blake had been petrified. With her chest tightening up in fear, she spun around half-expecting the woman to be gunning it for her Rowan, however, was already on her, becoming ethereal and passing through the dragon woman's weapon straight to her and pinning her to the ground. The way he did it seemed almost effortless, leaving Blake rather surprised. It was then she registered that the conclusion of this battle was quickly approaching. Wait... she's helpless. Blake, you can't possibly be okay with this. He's beaten her. There's no need... but the whole point of coming here was to- So many others have already died! We've already won. More bloodshed won't right her wrongs. This isn't... Blake wanted to say something, anything that could possibly stop what was about to happen. A knot developed in her throat causing her to choke on her words. The Mage wasn't quite sure if this was the right path for either of them. Even when it was necessary for survival, she hated the idea of killing others. The fact that they had tracked a woman down for the sole purpose of removing her from this life... With all of Blake's excuses and reasoning, it was dawning on her now how sick the idea made her. Would Rowan, however, forgive her if she interrupted now? After all this time? Why not have tried stopping him back in Lusia? Did she want this as much as he? She-she tortured and killed him! Making decisions of life and death is what got us here, though... What got me here. Locked between, all Blake could do was look away as Balmung came down.
The scene before her when she looked back up left her awestruck. Rowan's blade had struck the ground rather than the woman, leaving her gawking up at the man. The Mage could also only look on for a moment with an amazed expression as her Knight proclaimed victory over the woman who'd killed him. Relief rushed through Blake so abruptly that she nearly sank to her knees and a breathy laugh escaped her. It made the girl's green eyes light up, a small smile pulling at the corners of her mouth. She bit down on her lip to stop her expression from evolving into some proud beam. Rowan, now more than ever, embodied the very epitome of a Knight. Overcoming that... Despite everything, he actually spared his own murderer. Blake took a step forward, wanting to reach out to him. When had he made such a decision? Just a moment ago, she was sure that this was going to end with the woman's death. The half-elf had only taken a couple strides when her Knight's words forced her to stop in her tracks, eyebrow twitching. Sorry- what?! Rowan! What're you thinking?!
Would the dragon witch even accept such terms?! What exactly were his intentions with this?! For a moment, the Mage was frozen in place, looking at the two on the ground, appalled. It didn't help that she just totally submitted to his words. Blake's expression fell from dumbstruck to unamused. Great, another companion to add to the ever-present name-calling. Weren't you the one saying I had a talent for picking up strays? Between the dog he'd brought home, the snake, the fish, the bear, now a wyvern, and this woman...A woman! She groaned internally, suddenly uncomfortable with the pose before her Don't blame your questionable luck on me. This one's all you. Rowan's next statement, however, made Blake temporarily drop the topic. It was as if he'd read her mind moments ago, saying that he wasn't going to forget himself. The half-elf could only smile gently before heading over toward them.
Her gaze lingered momentarily at the grinning face of the dragon woman before switching to her Knight as she put her hand on his shoulder. You can probably get off of her now. "Rowan... you did it." The statement itself was a form of release that Blake couldn't quite explain. They- he beat her. He did it without killing her outright, without getting hurt. Neither of them died. Ever since she'd seen his past, this had been eating away at her. She'd only hoped that this trip of theirs would somehow settle things in some way. When he offered for her to come with him in the first place, closure had been her goal. Blake wasn't quite sure about keeping the dragon woman around, but if that's what Rowan wanted... She stepped back and pushed her bangs off of her forehead with a nervous laugh. "I'm so glad." For several reasons: that he stayed himself, that he didn't kill her, and that neither of them had gotten hurt. You're getting it half-colored and unedited 'cause Carl's rushing me now too! xD

Was this really the right decision, the best choice to make? Rowan merely rested his knees on the woman, unable to think of anything to say, any action to take as he contemplated where he had ended up after all of this. Even if I refuse to let myself be changed... who am I really? Just who am I supposed to be, and what am I supposed to do with myself? Even with this second life... I just don't know what to do... He thought to himself, gritting his teeth slightly as he heard multiple voices talking to him, questions being asked and a hand placed on his shoulder. Just what was he going to do now that he had attained what he desired so badly? And had he really achieved his goal, or merely caused more problems in another form? Whatever was going to happen, Rowan's disgruntled attitude would undoubtedly remain firm in the face of adversity. If anything, he was probably going to be more foul-mouthed and spiteful after all of this, especially with both of these irritating women around him. The trade-off, however, was that he could properly form some punishment for the dragon-kin rather than haphazardly cleaving her head in two.
"It doesn't matter. For all I care, you're the maid now. So start acting like one." Rowan stated rather indifferently, removing himself from the dragon woman's situation entirely as he got off of the woman and looked towards Blake. She seemed to want to speak to him, having placed her hand on his shoulder. What he found, however, was that there were no words that he could form for her. Was there anything to really say about this situation now that the two of them were finished. What did that entail for them as people as well, now that he was free from the shackles of his past. Maybe I should... try to live like I want to live. I... Looking at her now, for the first time since he had been summoned, she truly was a woman. She had grown up to be someone completely different from the girl he had met all those years ago. About his current age, and not too bad in terms of personality. For the first time, maybe he was thinking about things like that. "What... what I want is..." He muttered to himself, staring at her for a few moments.
Then, in those few seconds, he pulled the young woman close to him and planted his lips on her own. There was no way for him to feel without experiencing. She had already conveyed her own feelings to him, and now it was time for him to put aside everything else and focus on bettering himself as a person. The first step to that, was trying to understand what she was feeling for him. What he discovered, however, was an intense embarrassment that welled up deep inside of him, threatening to force him backwards and away from her. His own iron will, however, refused to allow him a reprieve, and he merely stood there embracing her with that kiss, not saying a word. After a few moments, he broke away from her slowly and stared into her eyes, refusing to back down in this situation as he began to speak once again. "I'll try to... live for you... a better way." Was all that he stated, looking away slightly as he gritted his teeth in an angry expression. Despite the spiteful look on his face, he seemed to have the slightest of redness in his expression showing how embarrassed he truly felt.
