Melody shook her head. "He didn't. I asked Zira." she answered with a frown. "And how is it not Kage? He's the only one that wanted her so badly to kidnap her twice!" she exclaimed with concern. Although her angered to be shifted as soon as she mentioned boyfriend. "Zephyr?..." she frowned.
She hesitated as Mara spoke of the autopsy. Contemplating, she frowned. "Yes."
Kae appeared amused by something. "That's interesting..." she muttered, pulling at more of her for a more thorough inspection.
Leukos had a chill down his spine at Kae's demeanor but his attention was immediately garnered by the spirit that spoke. "What?!" he exclaimed with a deep alarm and took off back for the medical wing without another word.

"If it was Kage and...ugh. Did you completely ignore the part where I said she was in a Haven facility? You are aware they kill Metas just to figure out why your skin is a certain color. " she closed her eyes for a moment. "Sure, it could be Kage. I have no proof that he was even there. I could easily say Ree was there and stabbed her through with her own sword. Or even the Gaia damn tooth fairy "
"I have been following this thing with Hexxis's for quite a while now, Haven wanted her badly..enough Norcrest offered me something that was very tempting. So knowing they were just waiting for her outside is not surprising, but did she want to wait here where it was safe!? No she wanted to go and be an idiot with a heart condition just to go home to the hands of that piece of s**t she called a boyfriend. Hey did you know he was the one who tortured Kae as well? Well now you do. Kage could be working for them too...well so was Zephyr but that didn't stop them. the main entities here is Haven...Criel and Norcrest " she took a deep breath then growled moving across the room and pulling a wheel chair out of the closet and moving it to her. "Get in"

Melody frowned, a disheartened look deepening before shifting back into concern and determination. "Isn't there anything we can do... That I can do?!" She didn't look like she was going to give it up.
"....what good are you if you're dead..."
"But I can fight them!"
"And end up in a Haven facility... again. You were lucky they didn't do to you what they did to Hexxis."
"Then what have I even been training so hard for if I can't even make them answer for what they did to my sister?!"
Alice was silent.
Melody moved to get into wheelchair with Mara's help. Trying to push back the pain of her fractured soul.
It was then that Leukos burst into the room out of breath. Setting sights on Melody and her soul first, a look of pain on his face. He hasn't even noticed Mara at first until he followed the chair up to see her. "What's going on? Where are you taking her??" he demanded before moving to Melody and stared down at her with a sympathetic look. "...why..."
Melody looked surprised to see Leukos so suddenly enter the room but returned to a stoic gaze as she stared up at him in contest. "I'm going to see Hexxis."
He flickered a gaze to Mara in confusion, //You told her?// he shook his head, //Never mind that, her soul is fracturing. It wasn't like that when I left. I don't know what's happening to her...// he related with a deep sense of concern.

"Melody. The goal of SIU is to stop groups like the Renegades that other people can barely touch and to help others where it would be near impossible with tech we have now. " she took a breath. "Unfortunately when problems that are similiar or worse come from within, your hands are tied. " she frowned as she started to push. "You can fight..I can fight but are you ready to face the consequences? Dying, being captured and experimented on or even being successful and either partially hated and liked? Your life will change mostly for the worse succeed or not. " she growled.
"It doesn't mean they win..it just means you can't fight them head on. " she said pushing her out of the room. "I want you to understand one thing as well, I have no one here to teach you how vast a difference what you know now vs someone who has been training for a long time. Tri, Ree or even Hexxis could easily beat you and very likely without using their powers. Remember your gold form? Kage sealed it. Remember Hexxis prowess with a blade? doesn't work if your unconscious.Ree's shield? Not if we have a bit of his hair " she tighten her hand on the handle bar. "I want you to remember one thing that is very important. Humans won. They won against all the true races and nearly chased them to extinction. Metas are a race in themselves but don't forget that humans may look powerless but they are just as inventive as any of the other races and they don't need powers to win. " she continued slowly as she heard footsteps rushing in their direction.
"You want to make them pay? You have to think of something other than rushing in and hoping they run away from you in fear. One month of training is not going to do anything when they have people like Hexxis...who have been hatched and trained to be a weapon and nothing more day in and day out. " she narrowed her eyes. "The worst thing you can do is make them interested in you.. whether you powers or anything else" she said with a sigh. " Alice is right..you are lucky they didn't take you too " she muttered. //but they likely did// she thought as Leukos entered the room and she turned her glare at him.
//No, she asked Zira to tell her// she said with a hint of annoyance, even so she wasn't going to make a big deal of it this time. //Her soul? ....sh** ask Alice. I just came in to find her trying to stop Melody from going to find Kage. Something I would be happy to join her in if it was at least for the right idea// she frowned but kept on pushing past Leukos's and out the main doors. //fractured or not...she wants to see it. She either breaks or handles it and since you are closest I have to anyone dealing with spirits you help her handle it as best she can. We can't keep babying her especially when she has the right to know // she said a little harshly as she took Melody to an elevator and used her pass to take her down to the lower levels right to where Kae was.
Ametrine floated after them silently, looking around with a flicker of concern.

Melody frowned again, she felt so hopeless. Useless. "Then...what can i do..." she muttered quietly. Looking up to Mara, "My feelings are still the same as the first time I met you. I want to fight to protect others. I can't always expect everything to go my way. And I know I need to be prepared to die to protect the ones I love. So I'll train even harder, I want others to be able to rely on me, and not just hide things from me because they think I can't handle it."
She looked away with frustration as it was apparent she likely could have been beaten by Hexxis, Tri, or Ree. Then there was Kage. "He still couldn't but me. I'm smarter than him. He attacked me first and I was fine. If Hexxis could so easily defeat me... No, I know she couldnt defeat me. Powers or not. I'm stronger than her..." she paused. "...I was..."
Sighing,she in understood Mara's point, but it didn't make her feel any less than she already did. "I know that... but.... Something has to be done!"
Leukos was worried as he reached out to Alice. //What's happening, why is her soul fractured?//
//She and I don't see eye to eye anymore... She wants me gone, tried to force me out, but I don't have the power to leave... So she caused us to fracture.// she answered softly.
//She fractured her soul trying to force out Alice.// he relayed to Mara coldly. //I... I'll try to help the best I can. I don't know how she's going to manage handling this when I could barely stomach. Not the way Kae is about it.//
Kae was done with what she needed although she hadn't put back the organs just yet. She was standing, leaning against the table as she face away from the body and was finishing her bagel. Leaning over to take a sip of tea boredly as she appeared to be taking a small break at the moment.

"Stop and think" Mara said quietly. "Your actions speak louder than words, which is why Hexxis received little respect. ". Unable to keep prodding the life of the girl whose stubborn actions that lead to her own death. All over the life of one guy who didn't even care.
If she was like her father Hexxis would still be here, alive shouting for home and likely in permanent coma but then what made her any different than Haven or any other research groups? Andy had been different, she was a nice enemy that might have been useful on their side but Hexxis? Supposedly she already was.
"She ran off, instead of staying and offering different ideas to get what she wanted or even waiting. Threw her desires into the air, didn't get what she wanted so she left. " there was a narrowing of her eyes as the elevator opened and allowed them out, waiting to respond to Leukos now that she was on a roll. " She came here to hide from Criel but when she found she had a heart condition instead of using all the ways we had to prolong her life and maybe even save it, she ran off instead without even taking the time to figure out what medicine and dosage she needed". she shook her head as she looked at the two metas."She never asked once about either of you.. we were all tools for what she wanted." Biting her lip slightly to keep from ranting but it was hard, an anger that was very close to the surface right now.
Listening to Melody saying she could take on Kage and Hexxis made her almost want to stop and shake some sense into her. Hexxis only had to nullify her gold form and her wires then where would she be? Trying to fight her hand to hand to swords when even Tri said she was a better swordweilder than him by a long shot. It was neither here or there though, Hexxis was dead and her worry was about her view of Kage. "You are getting stronger...and I am taking you to see Hexxis instead of hiding her from you but we all need to work as a team with as much information as we can get. If it was Kage then I will happily help you..if I tried wasn't and was Haven then you have to decide if you want to leave SIU permanently and continue on your own" she said seriously.
"Melody. This isn't a challenge but Kage wasn't after you" she said simply. "He was distracted multiple times fighting all of us and he still left with what he wanted. What makes you think that you alone are smarter and stronger than he is? A real question. That was your first fight but we didn't come out winning " she said quietly as she moved forward to open the door and froze looking at Kae. "......Really?. " there was a sigh as she watched Kae take her break right by the body. Some small part of her kept hinting that she shouldn't be doing this, that she should be trying to convince her to wait instead of traumatizing her for life.
//Kae is special...if Melody wants to see it..then she is going to see her and Hexxis and come to he own decision sicken or not. She doesn't want to be protected then ..here we are. You just keep her from fracturing more //

Melody looked up to Mara and sighed, she was right. She was always right. "Then I want to train to fight better. Not out of vengeance... but out of self defense and to protect those I care about it. I want to be a voice of reason for those that feel lost.... like you are for me." she spoke in a calmer tone even if her determination never faded.
There was a pauses, a pain in her chest over the idea that Hexxis had been so selfish as to never have asked about her. Or even Leukos..... "...just tools..." she mumbled to herself, a deep frown creasing her lips. It only furthered her despair to be offered the choice, if it had been Haven, to stay with SIU or leave. That would be a decision she couldn't make easily, and prayed it didn't come to that. She didn't want to choose. She wanted to stay with Mara.
Leuoks merely listened, as he followed them. Noticing how Melody was beginning to think a little more calmly but she still looked like she had reckless ideas in her head. And she did.
Kae shoves the last bit of bagel into her mouth and looked over as the door opened. "..ahh Mara.." she spoke, covering her half-time mouth with her hand. "..Just who I wa-..." she paused, frowning. Kae moved to at least cover the exposed body that had its chest cavity pulled wide open at the moment. "Didn't know you were bringing guests..." she muttered before sighing.
Melody took one glimpse of the dead corpse of her sister and the tears couldn't help but start in, covering her mouth, "..how did this happen.."
Kae began to grin, swallowing the last bit of her food. "She killed herself. Or at least I'm betting pretty high money she did it to herself. Willingly or not." she turned to look at the cold waxy-skinned body, as if to uncover it again but refrained. "Okay, get this. Her sword had two sets of hand prints, both hers. One holding the blade away from herself. Likely to attack. And the second with the blade facing herself. Now I didn't notice it just from the outside, because there is such precision in her blade work that there's a very subtle arc to the blade entering her. Very slight. Enough to bring back the theory of her stabbing herself. Oh! But here's the best part. Zephyr's finger prints were found on her shoulder, the one we don't have. He braced himself against her forcefully before she died." she relayed with a a coy smile. "My theory. She was controlled, and he forced her to turn the blade on herself with telekinesis or shadow manipulation or whatever, but due to the pain of losing three limbs, he had to brace against her to not only keep her still but to power hard enough to get the sword through her ribcage." she reached for her tea and sipped it. "...so any thoughts or questions?"

Mara nodded quietly, feeling that she was going to lose her at some point. Not now, not in the near future maybe but maybe soon with how much SIU was -not- what she was looking for. "You are. I can get you some extra people it is going to rely mostly on you." She said calming down slightly as he stepped into the room with Melody.
"Not enough time" she answered Kae while motioning to Melody and moving to see what she had found.
"Hm so she adjusted her grip on the sword to point it to herself then Zeph applied the power enough to get through her rib cage" she frowned leaving Melody to look closer. "Legless wonder wouldn't have the time or the strength. Three major arteries spewing his life blood to the ground at the same time without stop. Even if the arteries curled themselves in from a clean cut he did turn his powers on her and had her kill herself why wasted it ramming her sword over and over into her chest cavity instead of stabbing her abdomen or slitting her threat or any easier to kill area? " she frowned and shook her head
."He was a known assassin even if it wasn't pinned on him. He would know the fastest way to kill her instead of -that- and with the way and speed he would have been gushing blood without any immediate treatment" she muttered touching her own neck with a slight shiver. " Now let's think on Hexxis. If she was controlled.. she just wouldn't have the leverage to kill herself without help. Less strength when you have your arm straight and trying to point back. Even assuming that she was a meta her bones are nearly steel like. " she said glancing to the machinery they had to use just to open her chest cavity without liquidifying the rest o her organs.
"Even using the wall as leverage ... no...someone had to have helped her. "She looked thoughtful. "You mentioned blade work ...this is why swordmen stab their abdomen when suiciding .. less protection. Again her death would have been much faster." She sighed. "Zeph supporting her with one arm and with no way to brace himself , as well as blood just help him slide around, would have just been tissue paper with the amount of strength needed and curling arteries does not mean completely cut off ..the force attempt would have push the float out and he definetly would be dead." She tapped the table.
"Thinking about it... it is why fights in the air are harder..you don't get leverage from the ground...and again the legless and armless wonder here would have been doing absolutely nothing holding on to her shoulder" she snorted. "He would have had to support himself just to support her then gone flying from the power applied...and just makes no sense " she frowned. "Now what's about if he was controlled...well again the dying part meh. " she moved around the table. "The blood in her eyes ....did she try to take on his wound? " look so thoughtful. "Okay back to what you said ...he braced her....yea. Not happening. " she crossed her arms with her head tilted as she lifted her right arm as if grabbing on to something. "And the angle ... he would have had to turn...on his side?." She muttered and shook her head again. "I already have his powers being tested. Hopefully we will have something soon but by soon I mean a month at the least. " she moved her mind back to Zeph. "Hm below the knee not even thigh ...bleed out less quickly so maybe more than a few minutes if he was luck .... Now if all arteries curled in on themselves....no because as you said there was enough blood in that room to account for two bodies and the arteries usually curl in quickly and bleed slowly ..if he moved around that would have moved the clots. So less likely that happened.. Either way, I sent in the paper work to change his status...just encase he survived or if Haven took him just to annoy them..." she muttered thinking.

"What if she can change the length of her blade?... like my wires... I can change how far they go. If she's my twin, maybe she extended it... giving her enough to stab herself." she started quietly as she stared at Hexxis. "...and where she stabbed herself.. maybe she was controlled to do it. Torture Zephyr more by making him watch her die." she spoke softly, a hint of pain in her voice, moving to put her hand into Leukos' reflexively. She closed her eyes before she started crying, tears in her eyes. She was trying to be strong and it was difficult but she was trying.
Leukos blinked and looked down at Melody, a pained look in his eyes, and squeezed her hand.
She took another sip of her tea. "That is a theory... seeing as Ms. Party pooper didn't like my idea that the one armed wonder found the adrenaline to impale your sister."
Leukos shot an unpleased look to Kae.
Kae just stared at Leukos for a moment then continued. "There's no doubt he did grab her though." she pulled back the covers enough to show her shoulder which was bruised like someone grabbed her forcefully. "It's his fingerprints... but I doubt that scrawny son of a b***h has enough strength to simply bruise her that easily." she commented. "But all I have found is that she killed herself. How or why is left to the wind. Past that... she was tortured at some point close to her death. There's electrical burns on her wrists and neck, suggesting she was give some pretty high voltage stuff."
Melody covered her mouth, a tear slipping down her cheek. "...so... what do we do now.."
"We find out who is responsible.. seek justice."
"And what good will that do now."
"Protect others from suffering the same fate as her. You forget we both lived in the same facility she came from. While they got in her head and made her what she was... we were lucky.. but maybe not entirely." he looked from Hexxis to Melody. "Look, if we don't act on this, what's to stop them from coming after either of us and doing the same thing. Hexxis may have been honed by them, but she was an adult when they took her. You and I are still teens. They can still try. And you don't want that. I don't want that."
Melody frowned, nodding slowly as she stared at Hexxis and more tears welled up in her eyes at the idea they might try to take either of them.

Mara looked at Kae and snorted slightly while pointing to Melody. "Her theory is more plausible than the one arm wonder. " she smirked then frowned at the mention of his fingerprints bruising her. "Again...he could have gained a new power from the torture. Something we can't confirm any time soon " she continued to frown because that is where it jumped from logical to magical...the point where metas and non-humans became more of a danger.
"Torture..is Haven's MO. They act like people will actually give you correct information under it " she shook her head, staring at Hexxis body with an analytical eye but the frown remained, remembering Melody and Leukos and the previous SIU.
"She was an adult, who has been used to following commands for most of her life except, in the past few months. You're both teens but you have lived your life have made decisions that shape who you are now. It makes it a little harder if I remember correctly. Not that they still can't do it..just harder " she sighed. "Still your're right, there is a high chance either of you are carrying surprises and not what Asriel tried to do "
Mara looked away from Hexxis a seemed disturbed. "Spectrum could easily ask for either of you back and now that I don't have military rights I can't just keep you. Melody at least they will have a minor fight because I adopted her...but legally? It is after the fact...both of you are still their property. I also had absolutely no help from them in the case with Hexxis even if it involved them and how they were used by Haven... Haven had no rights in that case ...Spectrum did. Piece of crap ..." she took a deep breath and let it out but it was obvious it wouldn't take much to have her vent about the case.
"I can ask them about transferring your ownership over to me or freeing you. That have it own set of backlash and again I can't protect you other than say you ran off ... " she frowned.

"It was sarcasm.." she muttered. "But still, newpower, temporary skill, posession. Who the hell knows. No one except Zephyr."
"But what if they did that to us and we don't remember it?"
"They might have, we won't know until it's too late. All we can do is be prepared and try to stay with Mara. We can't go back to Spectrum."
"Doesn't really make it harder.. But that's neither here nor there. You may still have commands. Haven may control you knowing that they had infiltrated Spectrum like they had."
"I suggest trying to transfer us fully to you. Or freeing us. All else fails.. We can disappear."
Melody frowned, "I don't want to leave SIU.... I don't want to leave Mara."

Mara looked at Leukos "That's what I just said" she sighed heavily. "We're running around in circles. I'll go ask Spectrum and we wait. That is all we can really do. if you need to disappear you need to disappear. That is not up for discussion because it's a large gap of turning into Hexxis and just being free as you are now " she looked around at everyone else.
"So I will do that, text a few people...come back to see if there has been any progress and you two just keep doing as you are doing. I'll ask the mercs to work with you...time for you to learn to fight dirty. " she waved up to the roof. " Later I am going to go freak out because my dead brother's been haunting me and likely get drunk. any questions we can do now?"

There was a slight grin on her lips, "I think he was just agreeing with you..." she commented then moved to stare down at Hexxis' body, sipping her tea and then setting down the mug.
Melody nodded, still looking fairly concerned. "Okay... keep us updated on what they say..." She looked up to Leukos. "I'm feeling better.. but I'd still like to rest, if you could take me back." she asked before taking one last look over to Hexxis.
Leukos nodded and frowned at the comment of Mara's brother. Nonetheless, he grabbed the handles of the wheelchair and began to wheel Melody out.
"Wait.." she looked back to Mara. "Her sword... can I.. have it?" she asked genuinely. "Once you're down with it... I want to keep it if that's okay."

Mara stuck her tounge out at Kae before looking back at then noddeding as she waved. "Yea yea..." she said taking a deep breath again only to look toward Melody with a frown.
"It's considered a cursed sword..... you -sure- you want to have it? So far your luck has been pretty good... it also had a Malice... and they are now both dead"

"I'm sure." she answered simply, a confident answer despite her buried anguish.
Leukos opened his mouth to speak but sighed and shook his head. Any objections were moot by now, and it's not like he could honorably deny her desire for her sister's sword. Why she would want the weapon that killed her twin other than for sentimental reasons never even crossed his mind, figuring anything else would be a waste of effort to consider.
