Oz took Gale's off-guard moment to snatch the smoothie expertly and also take a sip. His expression remained angry at the world, but not too angry. "Gross."
And then without explaining anything, he handed Gale a radio headset and began to wander off.

Gale had a moment to say "Hey, that's mine!" except it came out more like a resigned "That was mine, y'know, before squinting at the ball of sunshine that was Oz.
"Wait - hold on - " he said, Gale shoving the headset onto his ears and darting after the other. "That's got no information or anything, what exactly am I doing?"

"Rogue three calling homebase, over," said an unfamiliar voice on the headset. "Operation infiltrate starbase in effect, please advise."
"This is Gold Pilot one, on the line, we have a breach in our systems, we have a breach," came the voice, and then a pause. "What say you, British Leader Six?"

Gale slowed down a little, still trying to catch up after Oz, expression a mixture of suspicion and confusion even as he dodged an annoyed mall patron who gave him a dirty look as he avoided almost dumping his smoothie on her in the process.
"Uh - I say - who is this? That is - " Gale took a deep, resigned breath. " - British Leader Six, responding to Gold Pilot one, please advise me on this breach."

"Gold pilot over," came the voice, "the security breach is in the form of two small Halloween children. Please secure them and bring them back to the dropoff point. They mostly can be lured with any form of Fear candies."

There was a long, drawn out pause.
"Are you bloody kidding me."
Another pause.
"What exactly do they look like? And where are they?"

"If we knew what they looked like, why would we ask you?" The voice on the other end sounded just as offended, "Just look for kids that look creepy or out of the ordinary okay."
The problem was, this was a mall. kuropeco GALE AND THE CREEPY KIDS: - He can try and accost a kid. About 99.9% are mall kids, but maybe his weapon can help track them down as well by sensing Fear. - Roll 1d6. If you roll a 1 or a 6 the kid seems extra creepy, and nobody else can see them, and also they have a third eye on their forehead. If you roll anything else, Gale encounters a bratty mall kid with an overprotective parent.

"That is not bloody helpful," Gale hissed, but to no avail. Jinhai. Jinhai, can you see anything?
The dragon was a cool, familiar presence inside of his head.
<< Perhaps. I don't sense any Fear yet - it is difficult to tell. Try the left. >>
Gale went to the left. There was a child of perhaps about six or seven, with a neon blue jacket on - but three seconds of staring resulted in the child shrieking for another double decker triple chocolate fudge cone with extra sprinkles and an annoyed looking glare from a woman who pushed past him with an arm around her son.
"British Leader Six to Gold Pilot One, are you sure you don't have anything helpful to say?"

"Wait," came another voice, an unmistakable Jedi Master someone, "Rogue one to British Leader Six, aren't you supposed to be at padawan training with me?"
A pause.
"Busted," said Gold Pilot One.

"Mark I am going to murder you in your sleep."

There was the sound of static and then shuffling through the headset. "Look," said Mark, "You're the one that ditched me and I just came to have a good time okay. With you. You have to have patience, my padawan or how else will you ever become a Jedi master? I remember when I did my training, it was on the planet of Hoth, the temperate was below freezing, there was like, a full blizz..."
And Mark would just keep on going in this strain for way too long. It was around the time Mark started talking about being attacked Wampas or something that a very adorable-looking child tugged at Gale's leg. "Excuse me sir - I think I'm lost."
They had no face.

"I did not ditch you, and I'm not a padawan - " Gale said, ignoring the tugging on his leg. "I'm - pardon - I'm not a - "
<< Gale. >>
Gale flicked his gaze down, exasperation written across his face, and then froze, staring, because there was a child, except it wasn't a child.
"Er," he said. "Er, Mark..."
An awkward pat hovered above the "child's" head.
"Er. Yes, err...here, stay with me, I'll, er, help you. What's your name?"

"Silly Gale," said the child, who obediently placed their hands behind their back, "you know my name!"
Suddenly, everything, the mall, the music began to pale and fade, began to slow, and even Mark's voice in the background turn into a slight buzz as the girl took one of Gale's hands. "Did you still want to keep on playing?"
Despite having no face, she seemed very proud of herself for asking.

He opened his mouth and then shut it again, a cold chill starting to crawl its way up his spine. The air around him, the mall, the music, the voices, shifted and faded, like a radio going in and out of tune, and Gale felt prickles of concern start to worm their way across his chest.
How do they know my name?
He cleared his throat.
"Playing...what, exactly?" Gale asked, trying to keep his voice level. "And if I already know your name, you shouldn't mind telling me again."

"Okay, but only because you asked nicely," she determined, as the mall, everything around them dimmed and then simply ebbed into nothing. "My name is Alice, and we're playing a game. The happy game."
