Rep listened but as always he wasn't really listening to the superficial words but was delving for any subtext hidden in those words. Mark was talking about some threesome with lucky, caroline and him and about how Dwight got jealous. He didn't seem phased by the comments about Kylo Ren, or incest.
All he heard was that Dwight had said to ditch him and Mark had been all right with that, that it had been not a problem at all to ******** kick him to the kerb. That was what hurt.
"I thought we were." he said. "But I'm a ******** idiot who always assumes the wrong GODDAMN THING."
And he lashed out at the amassed figures with a very vicious and vindictive sort of force behind it.

"You- you can't just drop the f-bomb anywhere," Mark protested, just letting more of the undying latch onto his leg and drag him away. He continued to talk even as he was slowly pulled away inch by inch, "I mean, Lucky almost un f-ed me over that stupid Twitter thing, that's why I dont f-word anyone anymore. Bro, even if we cant be f-words, I still trust you, I mean why else would I be here, doing this, with you?"
To be fair this wasn't actually Mark's choice, nor was it his choice to slowly be dragged further and further away from Rep as he talked.

Rep turned and tried to take his anger out on the undying that were trying to steal Mark. It didn't matter if he was being ditched, he was loyal, he wouldn't just leave someone to get killed over something stupid like drama.
Mark was too dumb to understand how wounded he was by this s**t, Mark didn't think too hard about anything.
"Lucky is a ******** sociopath. I mean I like the guy, but he's a total socio. Obviously he's gonna do that s**t. But I don't. I don't do s**t like that." He wanted to say he was loyal, he was a good friend, seriously he could be a good friend, but there was the whole masculinity thing and the fear of coming across as clingy or getting shoved away further.
"Just summon your ******** scissors you dumb s**t." he said. "You can ******** mope when we get back alive."

"I don't wanna," Mark settled for whatever position he had been dropped on, "All I ever wanted to do was have a great threesome, and have nobody unfollow me on Twitter, is that too much to ask for?"
He briefly wondered, as he began to get dragged away again, what exactly qualified under Rep's definition of sociopath. "Well anyway, you have Harrison anyway, and that's great for you guys so whatever you don't know what it's like to be super lonely."
It was supposed to sound sad, maybe, but it just mostly came off as pathetic as the Death assistant resigned to be dragged face down. "Mrfff hmmm gmmmf ffnnn and nobody cares about me."
The mass was uncountable now, just limbs and bare heads and eyes all tearing at the two, though mostly Rep since Mark had just mostly given up. While they were ineffectual at best, their presence was beginning to take a toll, a strange sickly feeling that sapped anything it came into contact with.

Rep shook his head, sloping off into his own sort of despair. "Ace is my husband." he said hopelessly. At the accusation he didn't know what it was like to be super lonely he didn't even know how to respond. He didn't want to get into the emotional state he'd been in when he was recruited and a great many times since, knowing that it would only make s**t more awkward. Instead he made a non committal grunt which quickly morphed into alarm as the mass of Things increased.
It didn't matter how used he got to fighting the ******** things, there were just always too many of them and the way they sucked the life out of you meant you definitely couldn't fight for ever.
He cared. He cared about all his friends, but ultimately that amounted to nothing, and maybe that was appropriate. All he could do was fight and right now he couldn't even do that properly.

"No, you're right."
In a sudden change of heart, Mark stood up, or struggled to stand up, failed the first time, and then summoned his weapon the second attempt, using planting it dramatically on the ground like Gandalf would to his wizard staff.
"Who cares if I had a failed threesome that didn't work out, what matters is that we survive, because we matter okay. We matter. There may come a day when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship. But it is not this day. An hour of wolves and shattered shields when the age of Men comes crashing down! But it is not this day! This day we fight!"
The Death Assistant raised his weapon into the air, which looked just as stupid as it sounded, and then in a burst of power and strength, pulled himself away from the grip of exactly two undying. "I'm coming Rep! I'll save you!"

Any fight was better than no fight as far as Rep was concerned and he couldn't help the genuine smirk at Mark actually deciding to fight back. He didn't mention he recognised the speech from Lord of the Rings because that would be admitting he knew it inside out, but instead simply took the sentiment. "Threesomes end in nothing but ******** pain and drama anyway, take it from ******** experience." he said, even if he didn't think Mark would genuinely go in for poly sex, it was worth warning him anyway.
Tracey's runes were already blazing with energy from the swipes he'd managed to land and he just needed a bit more, a little bit more than he had.
"You've actually got a lot of bladed surface area on your ******** weapon." he said. "You could probably chop limbs with him..her...it?" He raised a brow thoughtfully as he swung. "What's your weapon even called?"
And as he cut into a bit of the seething mass, the runes all lit up.

"My like, lightsaber?" Thrown off guard, Mark forgot to attack entirely, throwing Rep a confused look. "Or do you mean Sheva?"
It seemed like Mark wasn't the only one disoriented as the oddly duplicated masses suddenly stopped, and collapsed into a fleshy puddle of organs and bones that began to stretch and fold into each other like rotting dough. The sound itself was beyond nauseating, and the odd shrieking from the mouths merging together and disappearing did not help. Giant arms formed out of nowhere only to have the skin fold into legs, feet, and then back into flesh sucked into the mass, while others peeled away and curled into nothingness along the edges.
The result was one of odd familiarity and deja vu: a colossal creature comprised of undying that terrifyingly looked like some deformed human infant. Both its ten-feet-wide eyes were focused in different directions, and it stood straight upright, one arm crashing down against Rep, bits and pieces of flesh and bone dislodging upon impact.
"THAT IS SOME SERIOUS AKIRA BULLSHIT," Mark could be heard shouting, scurrying just in time to avoid the second arm crashing down, "COME ON. WHY ME?" OOC Weird Akira flesh-baby thing: 120 HP

"Aye Sheva." He said sounding satisfied with the response, though I'm sure you'd do ******** fine with a light sabre too." For whatever reason he seemed to have temporarily forgotten his severe upset in the face of fighting alongside someone. To him it was one if those things that mattered, if someone was willing to fight alongside you and protect you it was more important than what they said about you.
Tracey was charged and it was with ease and familiarity he launched himself into the air in open defiance of gravity, the black tendrils of artifact twisting around the axe as he went. At the pinnacle of his jump he twisted and brought the axe down with full force on the writhing mass with a snarl of effort and weight."We should bring this one back to Mimsy." He laughed as he landed.

"NO," continued Mark, throughout the temper tantrum, "NO BABIES. I HATE BABIES."
Despite his weird confession, he managed to make some headway, weapon tearing through an entirely mangled baby-finger. The creature reared up and made another very unbaby-like screech.
And then from its back it began to sprout long, thin legs, similar to an insect's. From the tips of each leg grew more hands that, boneless, flopped uselessly upwards and downwards with each of the creature's steps.
The Death Assistant barely restrained a gag reflex at the sight, moving as far away from the sprouting, severed finger as possible. "What the heck did we have scheduled for the third, I don't remember signing up for flesh baby abominations. I swear to god if Peter turns out like this.."

"Good, I ******** hate them too, cry too ******** much." Rep said. "But ******** I hope no." And though mentioned as a casual joke initial it occurred to him that with the ongoing infection Mimsy's kid potentially could go full mutant at any time and end up like this horrific amalgamation of hands and nightmare. It was best that they keep it back from other people.
"We really need to find the source of this s**t or it's never gonna stop. We are managing it at best." He couldn't forget that almost every single one of these hiveminded horrors was made up of people, people with families, people who had been taken away. There was no way to know if it took in Halloween s**t too, if it was something outside the realm of all of it.
"Is it waving?" he said with an attempt at gallows humour as he swung out again.

"Oh I dunno," Mark managed sarcastically despite nearly being impaled by one of the still-growing very insect-like legs, "if I knew where the source was wouldn't you think I'd be attacking that?"
Actually he probably wouldn't be most likely because the effort involved in these kind of things was more than the Death Assistant's available personal output.
It was at that moment Mark's phone rang, which was pretty impressive considering that an entire tower had been demolished right next to them, but there was probably another base nearby, either that or Dwight's text had magical phone tower locating abilities.
"Hang on." He shuffled to one side, keeping his weapon in a mostly neutral position as he expertly dodged three extra insect-limbs all intent on making him a very unappetizing skewer. "Hi boss." A pause. "A headset, uh, no, why, uh, I mean, why sir?" Mark gave the keep it distracted hand signal to Rep, which just looked like someone signalling Rep a single jazz hand. "Yeah sure, where should we bring it, is it the place we talked about- and now I am talking to myself."
He looked positively glum as he took the time to put his phone back into one of his many pockets, just in time for the flesh-baby to complete its transformation into a flesh-spider that was slowly gaining coarse black skin and hair all over it. "He hung up on me mid-sentence. I hate it when people hang up on me mid-sentence."
It was then that Mark finally noticed that the flesh-baby was no longer said flesh-baby but a very complete enormous one-hundred foot black widow. He visibly paled by about a thousand shades, dropping his weapon. "No no nonononono- I hate spiders."

"Well yeah." Rep said mirroring the tetchiness. "But we've been chasing our tails for ******** ages on this s**t." Rep was concerned about the rapidly shifting creature and found himself immediately glad that Harrison wasn't there, knowing how easily upset the Moon hunter was by almost any sort of bug.
While Mark dealt with another type of monster on the phone Rep tried to fend off the creature, chopping off as much as he could only for more to take its place.
Mark got an exasperated look as the thing mutated into a huge spider instead. "It's not a spider it's a ******** lump of zombies." But his tone was perhaps less harsh than it was normally and bordering on an attempt at reassurance instead.Harrison would be out cold by now, and Mark was looking a bit pale.
"Right?"
They probably needed to get to wherever Cael had been talking about, with whatever it was he'd meant.

It was unfortunate Mark couldn't read minds - he was too busy doing an unusual re-enactment of Perseus and Medusa, using his weapon to stare at the creature without actually staring at it.
It did nothing to help his petrified state, which was marginally less helpful than his usual state. The thing bowled the Death assistant over in one fell swoop, and seemed about ready to devour him when it suddenly noticed Rep just standing there as well and took a moment to decide which target-
- Before changing directions towards Mark's single ally, beginning to warp again, growing a thin sheen of scales, legs shedding entirely, growing longer and longer still -
- Until it was very obviously snake-shaped, twisting through the dirt in completely unnatural motions, mouth gaping open, long fangs dripping an obvious thick green venom.
The Death assistant breathed a sigh of relief and checked his phone. He held it up in the air to get a better signal, waving it around. "Oh hey- I got GPS! We're about a hundred yards off, that way." He pointed towards a section of the foliage that actually were looking a little less foliage-y than usual.

Rep went from being impatient about leaving to his stomach feeling like it had crawled up to somewhere just behind his tonsils, the creature contorting from a spider into something much much worse.
It was a dizzying feeling, like standing on the edge of a very tall, very crumbly cliff with the wind at your back and he only noticed that he was screaming and scrambling uselessly away from the thing on the ground after a few moments of doing it, somewhere detached and horrified as his skin positively crawled at the sight. He didn't remember when his knees had given way.
He couldn't even say the name of the thing, he couldnt do anything but gesture numbly at the approaching thing, even Tracey dropped to the ground, his voice ignored in his thoughts. It was all he could do not to throw up.
He looked really really ill, and was really /really/ not moving quickly in any direction let alone the right one.
