"Good start, but try and be more specific. Chances are, you aren't the first person to hit on someone. You wanna take notice of certain things about them and focus on that. Good intro though." He said with a smile.
He then leaned on the counter.
"You're a pretty good bartender. If it's not the whiskey, I could get intoxicated just looking at you."
Might as well play too.

Al gave Mik a shocked look, he wasn't expecting him to be so.... damn.... good at this. He turned his gaze to Melvin as he tried to give it a shot himself. "I think he wins this round," Al said while jerking his head in Mik's direction.
"I don't think anyone goes for corny lines anymore," he winked at Melvin, enjoying the game regardless.

Mik looked pleased at the reaction before seeming to wilt a little as he realised the both of them had to just be being nice to him. Still, he didn't give up, falling into a character that wasn't quite himself in order to win.
He was pretty competitive. "Thank you." he said with a smile. "I'm really glad you approved. It was all really easy to say, because it was all true and came from the heart. It's easy to say to someone who is really pretty that they are."
He drummed his fingers gently on the table and looked at them, dreamy looking and distant. "I bet all of you is really pretty." He brought his hand up to his mouth in shock, looking back to Al. "Oh I'm sorry." he said "I probably shouldn't be thinking about you that way huh?"

Melvin brought his class to his lips before saying, "Shut up, Al." And taking a sip.
Setting the glass down, he tried to regroup. It had been ages since he even tried picking up anyone for the night and when he started dating Rin, she was the one that engaged first. Damn, he was rusty.
Considering Al, he really didn't know what to focus on. His words had come more easily when he was flirting with Lawr, and for a moment he considered this. Maybe that was all there was to it.
"Considering he is such a good multi-tasker, no wonder Noah keeps him around. I doubt he is a one trick pony."

Al had to admit, Mik absolutely had game hidden under all that... fluff. He pinched the front of his own shirt and pulled it out repeatedly, trying to air himself out a bit. "Damn, Mik, you're surprisingly good at this. If you're not careful, you're going to get me in trouble with my boyfriend." He wasn't that easily swayed from his Noah, but damn if he were single.
He relaxed again at Melvin telling him off and braced himself for another serving of corn. Instead, he got pie. He stared at Melvin before snorting in disbelief, "That's right, because I'm built like a stallion." Two could have fun with that metaphor.
He still couldn't believe those words came out of Melvin's face though.

"Oh I wouldn't mind." Mik said a little breathily. "If your boyfriend was involved too, I'm sure you'd find plenty for him to do. You are really smart, I can see that much." Outwardly he was all gentle innocent smiles and hair tosses, inside he was deliberately doing exactly what his scummy father probably would. He wanted to be honest. Honesty wasn't "game" apparently, so it was lies, lies lies lies all the way to get what he wanted. This was just pretend anyway.
"Melvin could even come along. I think we could all have a lot of fun, open the booze, relax and teach me some things. I want to learn." He smiled toothily. "And I am partial to big things, or well weilded and experienced other things."
And he gave Melvin a sidelong look. "I would really like to learn to ride."

He caught the look from the corner of his eye and slid his own vision over to catch it before closing his eyes softly and looking back to Al.
"Why share? Wouldn't it be better to rub him into the bar-top so hard that by the end, no matter how hard he rubs, he couldn't get the strains out."
He rose his glass a moment. "It would be a more entertaining way for him to fill our glasses."
And he drank - knowing inside it was all play. Pretend. No outcome, and all the while he knew he was doing something dangerously bad for his well-being. It had been over a week without Lawr and he was on a tightrope of frustration and agitation. Drinking was only placing a very weak leash on it.
He bite the edge of the glass a moment. Everyone in the world and none for him. This pretend was the only degree of satisfaction he could even squeeze out from life at the moment.

Al bit his bottom lip at the both of them. This was starting to get very serious, very fast, and he was starting to feel like it might not be entirely just a game anymore. At least the tent he was pitching thought it wasn't.
He fished out his phone and typed something on it then pocketed it again.
"So... uh... anyone need a refill?"

There was a white hot core of anger in Mikael which tended to simmer over most of the time, powering his relentless innocent act, it breached the surface only when he was in any real danger but sometimes it simmered close, like now, but could not truly be seen.
Outside, he closed his eyes, looking flustered. "Melvin." he said softly. "You are teasing me."
Gently he slid his glass to Al. "Refill please." he said. "Something exotic, a cocktail maybe. Strong. I want to make bad decisions."

The smile fell and he looked over, before the game of pretend crossed it's point.
Silent, he went back to his whiskey. "Sorry. I thought it would be fun." He admitted, before setting his elbow on the bar and resting his head in it, turning his glass over to watch the ice-cubs clatter against each other.

"It's all fun and games until someone gets aroused." Al fetched that drink for Mik and after hearing cubes clatter more times than he'd like, Al fetched Melvin another drink as well. "More beer or another whiskey?" He slid Mik something that was bright blue with little rainbow colored candy pieces at the bottom.

"I'm always aroused." Mik said with a snort, not playing the game any more but genuinely answering the comment as he sipped his drink. He felt gross after donning such a fake, lying and horrible front, parodying the person he hated most in the whole world, only for the other guys to seem to think it was a great showing.
"And it's only fun when it earns something at the end." he said, parking his chin on his hand propped up on the bar. He was getting really tipsy really quickly
"So your boyfriend isn't much fun?" he asked Al critically. "I'd be hanging out on the new year, even if I was supposed to have work. What they gonna do? Fire you?"

"That's true. No point in getting all revved up for no destination."
He stared at his glass and moved it over to Al. "Surprise me."

"I'm no allowed in the labs anymore. I distract him too much, or something." He took a while on Melvin's drink, even going to the back a couple times before sliding him a glass of cinnamon schnapps with bright red candies sitting at the bottom. Al was well aware Melvin wasn't a fan of sweet, but he figured spicy might be something fun to try. In other words; yes Melvin, those are Red Hots.
Al took turns flashing each of them a calmer more genuine smile. "If I were single, maybe. You both are attractive and seem to know how to get what you want."

Mik eyed his drink. "Everyone's always so happy." he said with a slight slur. "It's always oh if... and maybe in another life... maybe if you were ....maybe if you weren't.... its always excuses. No one wants me, no one has ever wanted me and I wish people wouldn't always lie about it or give me like, quests to go on which just end up in them saying sorry but no."
He pointed at Melvin. "He did it." he said to Al. "Gave me hope that if I cleaned up my ideas and stuff I'd get laid. Still not laid. Everyone is the same. I wish I could just go back to my sandcastles and never think about sex ever again."
