Aw, poor Tisha just trying to be nice. No, my hubby rarely smiles (part of what makes him so scary). But if he does, it's a very nice smile. biggrin

It's kind of sad that people judge so easily. I'm relieved that I'm not like that but you only recognise the difference (you think everyone is like you) until someone says something ignorant (like a co-worker of mine about a man I just helped saying in an appalled and incredulous voice: "HE DOESN'T HAVE AN EAR!?" Me: So?). So I hope your husband has enough to smile about that makes him very happy.

As long as he smiles that sweet smile when our eyes meet, I'm happy! whee

Aww now I'm sad. Anyway, hope to see more entries!

how blessed you were to have such a friend!

Thanks 4laugh I think so. She was so friendly to everyone. She should have been a poodle or some other kind of dog with a good reputation because she unintentionally scared people. It's possibly the same with people; some people are judged on their appearance to be scary but if you are friends with them, they're the best friends? Like Hagrid or something?

I'm married to one like that. He's very big and loud and gruff. But he's a soft-hearted teddy bear when you get to know him as I do.

D'aww ^_^ I bet people get freaked out when he smiles at them? That's what happened to Tisha. She'd smile and show all her teeth and people would think she was snarling. Tradesmen would be afraid sweatdrop

Yeah Joy my husband is the same way.. He's a wonderful man, who don't smile very often (mostly cuz of his strokes), but when he does it is nice... guess I should have wrote about him 4 putting up with me 41 years... LOL

Eternal Rebellion
Some people come into our lives and quickly go.
Some stay for a while, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never, ever the same.

— F L A VIAx W E E D N

You know, I think about something like this quote when I think of Tisha. Before she died, a person who I saw a lot came into work. We'd talked about her dog, a miniature black poodle, who couldn't be left at home alone due to being on the dangerous dogs registry after getting loose and biting through someone's jeans leg (the unfairness of pit bulls being labelled a dangerous breed and a miniature poodle attacking someone is something I also think about when I think of Tisha) a few times because she had to leave him in the car while she came shopping.

One day, she comes in and says to me that he'd died. He was an old dog, maybe 14 if I can remember. She started to cry. She was an older lady, maybe in her 50s. I was maybe 20. She looked embarrassed and said it was silly that she was crying and I said, no, I don't think so. Some people leave paw prints on our hearts. Or something like that. I'd never heard this quote before, but I think about paw prints on your heart a lot, which is why there's a paw print on my cross stitch and why it wasn't shown gradually like the writing or the dog itself; it was stepped there.

I think maybe friendship is a hard thing to define- unless you're JoyRose with an amazing acrostic poem!- but the loss of it is more definable. I don't intend to be a downer! But maybe I'm getting that reputation. My entry for last year's writing contest had a bit of a sad bit also sweatdrop

That's a beautiful sentiment. No one should feel silly about crying over a lost friend, especially including a lost furry friend. That's good that you were there for that lady.
The paw print over a heart reminded me of something I hadn't thought about in a while. A cat of mine once jumped away from me and her back paw left three scratches over my heart. She literally left a print. Her passing was the first time I dealt with the loss of a pet. ... And I loved the scars left from that scratch. Made me feel like she was still with me. They've since faded... but I can see them if I squint.

Friendship is the inclusion of a person into your day, wheather in actuality or mere thought. It's "I found this thing that you like let me send it to you", "I'm sorry it's 2 am and why are you even still awake right now, never mind I need to vent", "you've literally sent me 10 pictures of your cat in the same damn position" and then sending another one just because. It's the unread message "good morning" waiting for you without fail everyday to give you a reason to wake up in the morning, fighting over whether robots have souls, a language of reference built on snippets of moments spent together making sure that they never live that one thing down. It's lurking in the chat room and giving a sudden surprise after a long string of really bad days, being understanding when it's almost a month past christmas and "no I haven't finished your present yet I swear to god I'm working on it it's just sewing is the devil", acceptance on my being selectively out and supportive of my decisions about the mutual platonic relationships we have that I am not out to. It's reading a new writing project and "I know okay, I know I am already in the middle of 5 other stories but listen...", taking the time to leave a little comment on a WIP that says as little as "lol" to cling and hold onto when anxiety is out in full force, feeling the bond between us despite all the miles between you and I.
I'm not good at defining friendship but I think it's the little moments that are what make it and are what make it such a wonderful thing to cherish.

For me, friendship is being able to tell them anything. Trusting them with all your secrets because you know you can- and them being able to do the same thing back!
True friendship is just about akin to love and sometimes its hard to tell the difference between the two. I would do anything for my friends and I trust they would do anything for me.
Its my friend Tylan laughing at me when I broke my arm because he knew I was over-reacting, and making me laugh with him.
Its touching my friend Mattia's butt because even though I dont have a thing for her, I know she has low self esteem and I like to make her feel better about herself.
Its buying all the best and most beautiful items for my friend Colored_Markerz because she deserves them- and her gift bombing me back because its fun!
Its about running on the beach with my dog every day that I can because that last day came way to fast.
Keeping them safe from anything that could hurt them but also being the shoulder they can cry on because I know im bigger and stronger than they are.
Sending a package across the USA because its my friend's birthday. Her sending one back to me because its my birthday.
Crying when my friend moved to Washington and crying again when she moved back to me.
Going with my friend Krystal to her doctors appointments because hospitals make her scared, and her going with me to mine because I am scared of them too!
Me buying dolphin figurines for my mom all year, and making sure they are not breakable because she has a cat.
Sending my mom the song "Mom - Meghan Trainor" and hearing her cry over the phone. Shes my mom but shes also my best friend.
Buying chocolate Hagen Daas icecream for my dad with my allowance because its the only sweet he likes.
Spending my allowance on a fruit tart cake for my mom when I was 8 because she was sick and convinced me that it was the only thing that would make her feel better. Also having to ride my bike 2 miles to and from the store to get it for her.

So I guess what I say in the end is, family are your friends, pets are your friends, and those random strangers that work their way into your heart- those are your friends too. Your closest friend is yourself though, because s/hes been with you since the beginning and s/he will be there until your end. S/He knows your deepest secrets and your silly stupid wishes you havent told anyone else.

THAT is friendship to me.

BUT I am doing an art entry I just also wanted to give my opinion on friendship.
This is what friendship looks like to me :
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Explanation:
The person in the lower half is me, I have my desktop at the foot of my bed so I lay on my stomach to play usually and I tried to fill in about what my area looks like from the figurines all over the window sill by my bed to my bedside table with my lamp and coffee mug. My stuffed animals. The large speakers that sit on the floor on the sides of my screen.

Then on the top half we have my friend Colored_Markerz. Shes been the best for a long time, ive known her longer than anyone else except my mom! I met her before my dad walked back into my life and before I met any of my half-siblings so shes really my BEST friend! She might live on the other side of the USA from me but I feel like I know her better than anyone else.
I drew a computer on a desk for her since from our correspondence I know she uses one, a wastebasket beside it full of trash because she always talks about how messy she is, and a bed beside her computer with a stuffed animal because I know she has stuffed animals and I personally like my computer to be near my bed so I have easy access. I also know she has posters all over her walls of Rooster Teeth and RWBY, but her desk is against a wall, not beside any, so didnt need to draw them. Much of her room is fuzzy for me because we mostly talk about her school and my house, Animal Crossing and Pokemon, my snake/mice and her boyfriend, Her whole family and my parents, ect.

ALSO
Sorry its not a very high quality image, I got my art tablet very recently and im still trying to learn how to use it- and every time I try to color something I keep failing miserably so right now im just trying to get the drawing part down before I try for color, lol.

Oh gosh, if I were writing, I'd never get this finished. xD Creative writing is my weak point. I started a drawing yesterday, plan to tweak it a little tonight, and post it. ;3 So it worked out.
