He stared at the glass, not sure how he would manage raising kids if they were placed in his care. Wyatt and him had disucssed it and both agreed that their lives were too unpredictable to be raising anyone in a world they didn't even feel safe in.
"I'm surprised you can go out at all with 2 kids at home." How was she even supporting them? The modeling alone? "I suppose with a family to raise, your face not being beat up means not only you suffer. Do you at least know how to protect that? Or keep people away from you?"
He looked at a few things before rising up to head over to order.
"Yeah, they have cats. They make them homemade and cute them into shapes. The tiny leftover bits just go into their smore brownies and other things. They even make a sweet potato casserole tart during thanksgiving that's really good too."
"Can I have the hot chocolate with 3 dog mashmallows on the side, uh....and a lemon custard tart."
He let her order and looked around. The place was lightly filled with two booths filled and some students on a table in the middle of the cafe on laptops with open books.
Once they got their things, he moved over to a booth in the corner and set everything down. The mashmallows were in different pastel colors and set to the side so anyone could then dunk their animal in their drinks as desired or eat it straight.

"I have a lot of help," she said vaguely, "They're 5 now, so it is a little easier than when I first got them. My father helps, and their other siblings. We're looking for a nanny for them, but I don't want full time childcare for them; I want them to know their family." she considered his next questions seriously, then sighed. "I know how to protect my face, and I know how to run. Just like I know I could just.... not go out and get mugged at all." both a pun and a cover-- she thought herself very amusing.
Torin walked away, and she stared at the case for a few more moments, compiling her thoughts, and considering her sweet tooth. No; one of everything still sounded like a good idea. Rising, she followed him to the counter, listening with interest. "I'll have to try it," she said with a grin, and looked to the woman taking his order.
"His is with mine. And I'll have the cocoa, three kitty marshmallows, and wrap up one of everything in the case to go for me?" Reaching into her coat pocket, she pulled out her credit card and slid the black and gold object over to the woman. "Thanks." Wolf- Torin- was looking around the cafe, and she signed the pay slip quickly, taking her drink and a promise they would bring the rest of her purchase to the table once wrapped.
The marshmallows were super cute, and her laugh as she looked the cats over was rich with delight. "Definitely look adorable. Thanks for showing me this place. I've been needing a good bakery." Then again, she also needed a chef, so maybe she'd have to see who else he knew. Lifting one of the kittens- the blue one, first, she dipped it into the cocoa and spun it through the liquid, watching it begin to melt.
"So, where do you normally... practice? Is there a gym you go to?"

He was surprised by her order, but assumed it might be for the kids and her family. The server had no problem with it but was equal parts surprised and delighted.
At the booth, he placed a dog into the cocoa and let it start melting into the froth.
"If you mean before - I don't remember." It was a simple answer. Anything of what he used to do was nothing - a foggy expanse he couldn't reach.
"I don't practice much as Torin. I need distance - I've been told. I go on walks. To work. Cook. I practice at night with whoever I find." Or just by fighting anyone. "I used to practice in the Rift. With my knight partner. With youma. With other officers." He didn't need to worry about anyone hearing them since his voice was low enough for only her to hear and no one was seated close enough to hear them. "There is a coliseum there. Kind of like the ones the knights have."

So Torin was one of those people. "Some people," she sighed, teasing, "Just want to watch the marshmallows melt. I thought everyone knew you only let them get soggy, and then-" kitty up, kitty inserted between teeth, kitty decapitated. "You put them out of their delicious misery bit by bit. You don't let the whole thing melt." her indignant reaction was facetious to the extreme, but avoidance was a cornerstone of who she was, as Jada.
His lack of memory was a bit disappointing, but she waved it off with a decapitated kitmallow. It wasn't like a good portion of such memories may be of use.
"You cook?" her ears perked up a bit at that. "I can burn water, but I had some friends who were really good cooks. It's a really useful hobby. Classes, or just at home to relax?" leaning back in her seat, she stretched out her legs, then lifted her arms above her head, popping her back side-to-side. "I remember your friend," she said after a moment, referring to the knight-youma. "He was a b***h and a half to try and fight."
Taking a sip of the cocoa, she made a happy noise, letting the scalding liquid roll around on her tongue. "I didn't know the knights had a coliseum. That sounds mighty handy. If we train, is that where we'd go, or do you have someplace else in mind?"

He looked up at her. "I want my cocoa to taste like marshmallows and to get foamy." He explained, and picked up the other dog. "Then you do it again when you drink part of it down and there isn't any more."
He poked the melted dog with his spoon to push it down into the hot cocoa more and melt more.
"I do it at home to relax and because I sometimes get home first so I make dinner. I can't bake though." He set his spoon down and lifted the mug.
"I like Gawain. He was a great fighting partner and had his own silent way of talking. I hope he had't gone to another officer though because I'd hate to have to hurt him."
And because he still felt he was in some way only HIS partner and no one else's, which meant no other officer was allowed to have him.
Taking a sip, he shrugged. "The knights have it on a planet. I just get called there. I don't know how it works. I can't go there on my own. I could care less about their coliseum since none of them actually seem to want to train and fight." He said with a frown and took another sip.
"For knights, they are rather sad examples for what they represent."

It seemed like they had several opinions that were different. Jada watched Torin dubiously across the table, trying not to look too heartbroken to see him wasting the glory that was marshmallow. After all, to him, he was doing it properly. (Whoever had taught him such blasphemy was clearly to blame.) She pondered how mannerly she would choose to be for a moment, before settling her elbow on the table, propping her chin on it, staring into her drink. She really liked food. It made it very hard for her to keep her figure, but if she wanted to maintain her lifestyle without digging into her inheritance too much, she needed more money than just her investment dividends. But now, she would be able to shuffle some of her priorities. She'd be able to put a little weight back on, maybe learn to cook for herself in that big old kitchen, instead of hiring a chef to do it for them. Wouldn't that be a sight- her, in the kitchen? Pfff. But it was good that people found it relaxing. Her hobbies... s**t. She ran. She hadn't picked up a book in forever, all her parties were for work. What time she wasn't on the road, she was in the office with her father, or doing something with Giulia and Aidan. So.... running, and going to Scylla. Seriously, she needed to pick up a hobby. Her ears perked up at the mention of Gawain, and her musings about food were quickly cast aside. "Did you name him, or do they name themselves?" she inquired curiously. "The story of Gawain and the Green Knight was always one of my favorite Arthurian legends." If they picked their names themselves, it would be.... interesting. If they didn't, that meant that Torin might have something more in common with her than just a love for cocoa. Her lips quirked at his next comment about knights. "Not all knights fought. Some just danced, and pretended to be chivalrous." She thought for a moment, considering. If he couldn't go there.... there was one place they could go. "We could always practice.... at my place," she said cautiously, and hoped he picked up that she didn't actually mean at her house. Though, they did still have the gym, but.... she wasn't sure he would want to train there, if he ever found out what it had been used for. "I can go once a week, and while I normally go and... wander? There are places we could train."

"I named him. He didn't....talk much in a way. More just....noises, but I got it." Eventually, and he had grown soft to his partner. It hurt to think he wouldn't have him ever again and was lacking the power the other gave him. There really was no way to express his thanks to the knight. "He got upset that I wasn't following the rules. I think he must have worried about what would happen." He reached over and dropped another dog into the cocoa to watch it bob.
"I was glad when we fought and he picked me. It was nice having him around." They had been a good pair, and he liked going into the Rift to visit him.
Holding his mug to take a sip, he looked up and shrugged. "I suppose we can go to your place if you have a big enough yard. We can't do anything ....requiring our other outfits there though."
Torin did not pick up on what Jada was saying.

"I'm sorry you lost him," Jada said after a moment of uncertainty. She was sorry he had lost a .... thing... he had come to consider a friend, even if she was not sorry that she wouldn't have to fight the knight again. It had, however, been a very effective partner, and she could understand how it felt to lose a partner. "He cared about you?" there was no disguising the surprise in her voice; she had always thought.... "I always thought they were more like... animals." her brow furrowed. "but then I usually only dealt with the ones attacking people on the streets, not personal companions." Another marshmallow went to its death, and Jada idly decapitated another kitty. It was nice having him around. Wishful thinking translated it to it being nice to have a partner. A companion- someone to, perhaps, make the lonely patrols a little easier, and safer. But then, perhaps that was just her, projecting her own thoughts onto his words. She missed having a court, someone to patrol with, a battle-buddy. Having someone at her back made her feel safer, gave her focus- they would watch her back, and she would get them home alive. It had been a heavy burden, but she hadn't... failed. The fact that Torin missed her suggestion didn't escape her, and she smiled. "Oh, we can," she assured him. "I primarily meant my place up North." Jada's clarification was punctuated by slowly pointing at the ceiling. "Though you are welcome to come to my house. We.... probably have enough room. You can come over and look it over and tell me."

He looked up from his mug. "There are more than one type of them. The ones you usually see do act like animals. The ones we have are smarter. Uh...had." He had to stop doing that. Present tense.
Lifting his mug, he looked around to make sure no one was nearby. "People can become youma. Some of em are knights. The Rift is there home. They have villages there." He clarified to her before taking a sip. "They even have a bar." He said with a smile that brought back the faint distant look of nostalgia to the man's face before it vanished and he lowered his mug back down.
At her pointing, he slowly looked from up to the ceiling and stared a moment before looking back at her. It hadn't clicked quickly before he slowly tilted his head. "...the sky?" He was still very new to the idea that this side had set places. In the Negaverse, everyone had the castle and the youma had the Rift. No one had their own places.

That had been information she did not know, and Jada looked at Torin with bright-eyed interest. "People can become youma?" it... sounded unappealing, but there were villages? An entire society...? "And a bar," she laughed softly, blowing on her tea. "What do they drink? I mean, you make it sound like a whole other, thriving world." she paused, considering. "So why do they need ours? I assume that's why they've come, anyways. Are we... resources?" her brow furrowed, and she wasn't aggressive in her questioning. She just didn't understand what they wanted. Why chaos had killed all of them, why it hounded them now, why it chose this war. He looked at the ceiling, then back at her. She let her head fall on her hand. " Scylla," she hissed quietly. "I can take you to the planet, like we'd talked about... before." he might not remember, but she'd not forgotten.

"It is a world." He said, very seriously. The Rift was a place and the youma were their own community. It was why he never really wanted to bother with the youma unless he had to keep himself or someone he cared about from being injured.
As for her questions, he just took a sip of his drink and ignored them. There was no reason for him to tell her more than that.
The mention of her planet had him glancing back up at the ceiling, pressing his lips thing in concern before looking back at her. ".......take me there......away from Earth.........where only you can go." He was still very wary to the idea of leaving the planet he knew and leaving his entire ability to ever return to one senshi regardless of their new found truce.
But then again, this was a person who showed herself to not be with the Dark Moon Court - and one with connections.
He considered it. ".....maybe."
Then again, he could never shake off his own paranoia about traps ever. What if something went wrong? What if it rejected him mid-trip for being not originally a knight but a purified Negaverse agent? How was the security and screening process for outer-space senshi world travel?
"Have you taken people there before?" Did she know how to fly her crazy space machine to get them there?

It is a world. That was it. Torin really was quite talkative, wasn't he. Jada let her disappointment show for a moment- she loved such minutiae, and she was really genuinely interested in getting to understand more about the enemy. Or... whatever Chaos really was when they all seemed to want the same thing. "Yes," she said at last, watching his thinned lips. Torin didn't seem taken by the idea, and she supposed she could understand why. Any number of things could go wrong, she presumed, but... others had done it and survived. They'd been to the moon? "We were going to go before, we'd talked about it while you were still..." her brow furrowed, and she looked away. "You might not remember. It was a long time ago." Have you taken people there before? "Nope," she told him cheerfully, "But I know plenty of people who have gone and taken company. I typically visit by myself, with things like blankets and supplies and snacks. In case something goes... terribly wrong, I thought maybe...." having someplace to hide, to make sure her starseed... She swallowed, not sharing anymore of that train of thought. But maybe was still a possibility. "You could...come and look at my house?" she reiterated at last. "Maybe you and someone you trust could come over for dinner, poke around the place? Its been a long time since I had company." She just wanted to keep him away from the gym. All symbols and hints of the Blood Moon were long gone, but having him in a room where people had trained to hurt him... Felt like a betrayal of a burgeoning possibility of friendship.

"I remember that. I just....am wondering if you have a entity on your planet like knights have at their wonders."
He didn't trust the Code and didn't know if senshi had the same thing on their planets. "...and I'm not exactly just a bag of chips and a quilt."

"Oh!" her cheeks flushed, and she flustered in mild embarrassment. "No, I- we don't have entities. We are the entities. I- I get memories. Of my past life. And they come to me randomly, not always making sense. Usually not." She played with her marshmallow, cheeks still burning. "I didn't mean to compare you to a bag of chips," she apologized, perhaps misunderstanding his concerns. "It's just... all I've taken. I haven't really wanted to take much company until it looked a little less like a desolate wasteland. There's actual water now, and I've cleaned up some, and..." Her hands fluttered before falling silent, into her lap, playing with her kitten marshmallow. "I know it works," she said after a moment, somewhat helplessly. "I mean, we went to the moon, and other people used to go, and..." He didn't seem much interested in her attempt to invite him over, so she didn't bring it up again, instead dipping the kitten in the cocoa again, silently.
