"Delivery sounds perfect to me. I worked out earlier so I could cheat like crazy tonight." Misha winked and wandered into the living room. She gazed at the television for a moment. Then, without a word, she dropped her bag beside the couch and crossed to the window. She peered out into the darkening sky, a soft smile curving her lips. The lights of the city were starting to flicker on, pinpoints of brightness showing spots of life.

Misha sighed but the sound held no sadness; she sounded content. Looking over her shoulder, she met Brian's eyes and her smile grew. "Which is your favorite place?" she asked. "I eat just about anything at all."

"Well, that depends," Brian said. "What kind of crust do you like?" He watched Misha put her things down and wander to the window and he smiled. Good. Sometimes you told people to make themselves at home and they stood around awkwardly as if they didn't believe you. His mother was much better at remedying that situation than he was.

She laughed at his question, pale eyes bright with amusement. "What kind of question is that to ask a girl from Philly? Thin crust, of course. New York style." She arched a dark eyebrow. "That is, can you do pizza properly down here, Tex?"

Brian's brows turned in in a sad sort of way and he laughed.

"No! I mean, probably not. This isn't exactly a mecca of Italian-American immigration. We'll get Giulio's, then. What's your favorite kind?" He went to the living room to grab his phone from the coffee table and started to scroll through for the proper phone number. He had quite a few delivery places in his contacts. Life as a bachelor rarely included cooking, at least with him. "We could try making it next time? I burn microwave pizzas though, I'm warning you."

"Or I'll come over early and hit the grocery store and cook for you." She turned to face him fully and settled one hand on a jutted hip to go with the smirk she offered him. Internally, she wondered at his comment. How had he fed himself? "You won't have to do a thing except enjoy it. I'm not as good a cook as my mom but I'm not bad."

Brian smirked and shook his head. Cooking for him, eh? It'd been a long time since anyone but his mother cooked for him.

"I wish my mom'd taught me, but I wasn't interested when I was younger," he said with a shrug. He pulled up the number to the pizza place but didn't press "call." Then he asked again: "What do you want on it? If you say 'pineapple,' I may have to disown you as a friend."

Misha stuck out her tongue. "I don't like sweet stuff on my pizza. Hmm. How about I give you what I like best and you can pick and choose? Mushrooms, sausage, hamburger, pepperoni, green pepper, fresh tomatoes... What do you like?" She mirrored the smirk he had given her. "And be prepared for me to judge you if you say sardines."

Brian's face twisted as he hit the "call" button.

"No, I'm not a sardines guy. Seafood doesn't belong on pizza anyway-- hi!" Now of course he was addressing the young man who had picked up at Giulio's. "Could I get a small margharita pizza and a small green pepper and sausage? Mm-hm. No. Thanks! Yes." He offered his address and floor. It was a quick exchange. Then he put the phone to his chest briefly. "Do you want anything else? Mediocre tiramisu? Coke?"

Shaking her head, Misha lifted a hand to cover her giggle at his offers. While he finished ordering, she wandered around the living room. It was pretty bare with almost no personal effects; she figured he had already taken all of the important photos with him to his dorm in Prytaneum. She bit back a grin, remembering the ones of his military unit, his police buddies, his family. The grin faded, though, as she abruptly wondered about the other officers. Had they taken it well?

When she came near Brian, her hand snaked out and, before she could catch herself or register her movement, her palm rested against his back. She rubbed slow, warm circles into his muscles.

"No, thank you. Yes. Alright. Thanks!" He hung up just as Misha arrived with her warm hands. Brian simply stood there, relaxed but motionless, and his usually stoic expression turned briefly into a slight frown. Misha must know that he'd wanted her here for a bit of comfort.

That only made her a good friend.

He turned and nudged her in the arm. "Are you hitting on me, Miss Durand?"

She widened her eyes at him with all sweet innocence and her mouth formed a delicate "o". "Why, Mr. Watterly, what kind of girl do you think I am?"

Then she giggled, stepped forward, and buried her laughter in his bicep as her arms slid around his waist for a tight, firm hug. "I'll hit on you harder in the future so you don't have any doubts, okay?" The words were only barely comprehensible, muffled by his arm. She lifted her head then and smiled. "You're tense. Need a back rub?"

Brian's arms folded easily around her as she leaned into him.

"Oh, good. I'm bad at reading people." That was a lie, but she'd know it. He smiled and kissed her head yet again. "No, no. Do you want to pick a movie? It's about twenty minutes on the pizza. They're right around the corner."

His little kisses, those moments of casual affection that he seemed only halfway alert to, never failed to bring a smile to Misha's lips. She gave him a final squeeze and then released him. Stepping back, she shrugged. "I wasn't sure what you liked to watch or what you had seen or not seen so I brought..." She trailed off and laughed. "Well, I brought a few."

Misha moved to crouch beside and open her bag. She turned it slightly so he could see the half dozen or so DVD cases scattered on top of whatever clothing and toiletries she had brought along for their sleep-over. Her lop-sided grin poked fun at herself, inviting him to join her and laugh. "So we've got some comedy, some chick flicks, some action, some drama, and even a horror movie that Mercy loaned me. Any preferences?"

Brian looked down into the open bag and smiled. It felt somehow scandalous to be seeing Misha's packed things, but for the life of him he couldn't think of a good reason why, so he just smiled.

"Um. Well." He knew better than to reach into her bag, but he did crouch beside her and peer inside. "No drama tonight, I think." Chick flicks were rarely ever actually dramatic. They always ended well, even if they were all pretty similar. "What sort of comedy?" he almost reached in, stopped himself, and tilted his head hard to try and read a sideways title.

Of course, he had movies here too, but Misha had taken the time to pick some out. They'd watch one of hers.

She caught his checked action and giggled. Dragging the bag closer to them both, Misha all but invited him to reach in by her actions. "A few but they're mostly rom-com. Let's see." She used one finger to shift the cases about, the plastic allowing her to slip them over each other easily. "The only pure comedy I brought is Robin Hood: Men in Tights but, if you don't mind a bit of rom-com, I have French Kiss and The Proposal." She turned her head to share an unabashed smile with him. "I know. I'm so dated in my collection."
