Lopezite was not particularly thrilled when his communicator went off; certainly, he was happy to be heading in, but it was the warning that came with it that made him most unnerved.
He did not want more company, not down here.
There was a patch of crystals near to him though, so he collected a few more before begrudgingly turning around. He didn't want to go back with such a small number of crystals though, so he didn't rush on his way back. He kept a good pace--but he kept his eyes open, too.

...Heading back seemed like a good idea, actually. Given the fact that he'd spent an extra minute shuffling his feet, ducking around, looking for crystals and found a measly--what, one?
Lopezite was fairly unimpressed with himself but at least it was a fat crystal; that had to count for something.
He hadn't realized how beautiful parts of the Rift could be, and though he probably wouldn't admit it, he was a bit sad that they were leaving. He certainly didn't want to come down here alone, but he'd never seen crystals like this and it had piqued his interest.
He knew there were youma in the Rift, and it was dangerous--especially for lower ranked agents. But Leucite had a plan for these crystals, so maybe that meant there were other things out here that they could use?
Lopezite mulled it over as he continued to shuffle his feet and look for crystals, determined to go out on a good note, at least.

...Two was better than one, but the crystals weren't as impressive in size as the one he'd found a moment ago. Lopezite stepped over a large rock on his way back to the entrance. The cave sounded like it had a strange whistle--probably his imagination, given that he didn't think there was weather, or wind, in the Rift. It was creepy though, like a bad horror movie.
He thought he'd stayed close enough to the entrance that it would be a quick exit, but apparently in his determination to gather crystals, he'd wandered further than he'd thought.
Good news, more time to collect crystals.
Bad news, he probably had to worry about being late again, if he wasn't careful.

Another crystal barely felt like a victory; Lopezite missed the cute little patches of crystals, ripe for the picking.
...Of course, that just made him wonder why some places were more fertile than others. With rocks, he'd taken enough basic science classes to know how they were formed. And minerals, and stalactites and stalagmites (though he couldn't remember which was which).
The Rift wasn't natural, like Earth, though.
He didn't know what caused these crystals to grow, and while he hadn't been interested in geology before...
The longer he spent in these caves, the more he wondered what was going on with the crystals out here.

The secret to finding more crystals was, perhaps, criticizing them.
Lopezite had given up on finding another beautiful cluster when he rounded a corner and wondered how he'd missed it the first time. They were hidden in a crevice he must have missed when he first entered the cave; when he came from the other side they were only a small bit more visible.
Things looked familiar, so he knew he must have been getting fairly close to the entrance. He hadn't heard anything on the communicator so he assumed he was still doing alright on time.
Still, it was a good reminder that he should probably wear a watch to the next meeting.

Three more crystals were hiding in another nook, and the cave already seemed like it was brighter, friendlier.
At least, as friendly as anywhere in the Rift could be, but still.
Lopezite might have been unnerved that he hadn't really been able to see anyone for a while, but the Rift was large--and he hadn't heard any screaming.
Plus, it meant he didn't have competition for resources. In this cave, at least.
...Even if it was just a competition he was having in his head.

On his way back, Lopezite began to think that maybe he should have started on this side of the cave. The sheer amount of crystals he wa spotting on his way back made him wonder if there were more crystals growing on the other side of the cave that he missed on his way in.
When he'd first entered, there weren't a lot of crystals growing facing him, but now that he was walking back, he was seeing so many more.
There was another cluster that he knelt and collected into his bag.
Thoughtfully, he eyed the other side of the cave.

While making her way from the cave, just around it's mouth, Valeria stood working to free some more crystals, wanting to try and get whatever else she could before leaving. She may not be fond of the idea of draining energy using Christmas ornaments, something about that and Christmas tied together didn't sit overly well with her but she had duties. She would follow them and try and dwell on such things later, alone.
Nimble fingers set to trying to free whatever they could from the surrounding stone. The crystals, five, which she freed went into the pack along with the others. That was better than she'd done so far - maybe some luck?

When the communicator went off, Seraphinite had quickly ushered Spectrolite the hell out of the cave, not wanting to dally as he half expected her to. It was definitely an early call back, and that unnerved him, and he glanced about here and there, unsure if there was a youma they should be anticipating running up behind them.
As they went, he was able to collect a few more crystals, which was surprising, but they weren't the top priority in his mind as he kept surveying the area.

Spectrolite... was much less speedy to try and jump up and head out. She'd been really interested in talking more with the corrupt senshi, and when the communicators gave the word that they had to head out, she'd scrambled up to follow.
Or well. More like was physically lead out by Seraphinite but whatever.
"If you need any help with getting hair ties and stuff, or getting them into place, let me know," she grinned to the other woman. From there, she was mostly silent, trying to keep up with the taller lieutenant and also collect crystals where she could. Wasn't easy but she wasn't about to complain about the rushed pace...

Testing his theory, Lopezite meandered to the side of the cave he'd stayed close to while entering and, while it wasn't another hidden cluster, he did quickly find two crystals he'd missed on his first pass through.
...Which meant, either these had sprouted up while he was making his way through the cave, or he had somehow missed them.
Either way, it was not a story he planned on telling anyone. He didn't need them to think he hadn't been thorough the first time through.

As they began to hike back, Seraphinite allowed himself small trips into some of the other caves they hadn't gone into. There weren't many crystals, and it took longer than he'd have liked to find a decent amount to toss into his bag before moving on.
Had others already gone into these caves and cleared them out? He wouldn't be surprised, but then, he also wasn't sure how long they could linger on the way back to really search.

Well at least Seraphinite found a decent amount!
Behind him, Spectrolite searched around the cave as well, limited by the amount of time he was willing to stay before moving on. Wasn't like the new agent was stupid enough to linger on her own, and when he started to head out, she huffed and barely managed to pocket a single crystal before having to run out after him.

When the number of crystals seemed to be evening out, Lopezite was still in a good enough mood with the haul he was bringing in. He felt like a kid doing a scavenger hunt--only, out here it felt like a monster was going to jump you any second.
The only consolation was that, while he wasn't worrying about youma, this whole place almost felt like he could come here to relax. The crystals were downright neat, and while he hadn't been looking forward to arts and craft, he was looking forward to getting a chance to analyze them in the light.
He scooped up two more, carefully laying them in his bag, before he moved on to look for more.

Without another word, Stibnite disappeared from the place she had been standing. Her natural abilities were enhanced with their new power giving her greater speed as she jumped from ledge to ledge.. She could not do it as freely as Leucite yet but it was enough to get her to a vantage point of the ravine. Besides, going down was always easier. Her first scan showed her the caves the others were in. It was her second pass that drew her eyes out towards the distance. Something was moving...something large and fast!"Is that all you got students?" Stibnite's voice called out as she watched the dust being to spin in the air high above the rest. "General Leucite said it was time to move!" Jumping from her point, Stibnite used her boots to slide down the distance, landing back at Leucite's side. "SO MOVE IT!"Turning her eyes back to the General, her voice dropped. "We have trouble..."

When Lopezite heard the voice, it was enough to kick him into gear. He pulled the last few crystals he'd spotted and moved quicker. Stepping out of the cave he looked around; nothing seemed out of place to him, but--then again--this whole place was new to him.
...But if some of the other agents were worried, it was probably a good sign to hurry up and get back to Leucite.
