"You really do not have to. You never wanted anything to do with any of this," Shun pointed out.
When she mentioned the pendant again, he reached up and lightly touched it.
"No. It may come in use."

"I do. F'I don't I'll just sit here an' be useless an' worried. Better t'be doin' s**t an' worried." Chel used her thumb to move some stray hairs out of his face and then continued stroking.
The pendant ... "What f'it's some bad s**t? It sucks out yer soul or somethin'?" She didn't trust something gifted from a murder. "Ain't you the guy who's always like trust nothin'?"

Shun closed his eyes again. He was relaxing somewhat from the hair strokes.
"That would be counter intuitive. She wanted to die so that we could go forward. She wanted us to succeed. This crest is the mark of the seal... the one she and the two others created. I believe it to be a final parting gift to try and aid the fight."

She was glad to be of service, even however small it might have been.
"That's ... brave of her." Chel wasn't sure how you were supposed to talk about someone's death. She hadn't really experience a lot of death in her life. "F'you trust it, I'll trust it. Just be careful, alright?" What could she say? She was paranoid too sometimes.

It was probably brave of the trio to take their positions in the first place. Though, he had his doubts that they fully knew the extent of what it was they were getting themselves into. Even so, they had taken that mantle willingly. And in the end, at least two of them were resigned to the fact that they needed to die for this to be able to end.
Shun began to mumble his words a bit, "...Always careful. Too much s**t t'not be."

"Always careful" said the guy falling asleep from a little bit of hair combing.
"Should we hold a little funeral for her? Somethin' like that seems nice," Chel suggested. She slid one of her arms under his neck and pulled him closer (if he'd let her), if only to make the way she was doing this less uncomfortable for herself.

Shun grunted and grumbled a little when Chel shifted him closer, but he didn't really do anything beyond that.
"Maybe when it is all over..." he murmured. He was sort of starting to drift off, "... Just moment of silence for now..."

"I never been much good with silence," she said with a tiny smile at her own inside joke. "But you can go t'sleep, yeah." She imagined that was his real intent.
The necklace felt cold and uncomfortable against her own skin and she frowned at the sensation but said nothing about it. It seemed an apt metaphor; something given in a mysterious way that was cold as ice. To her it didn't feel like the boon Shun seemed to think it was. It felt like something darker on the horizon.

In response to that, Shun just said something unintelligible in return. His body had grown more lax, and his breathing steadily evened out as he fell back to sleep.
