He nodded slowly, then faster. 'Yes I'm sure." He was...too. Sure. Yes. He would try it, if she ate it, it couldn't be that bad for him. So he walked slowly back out of the water, his fascination with oysters quite winning out over his fear of water. He made sure to tuck his shell away in some soft fabric for later examination and cherishing. Gifts from the sea. He loved them so much. Oh what he could get for trade at home! Except for the fact that he wanted to keep them that was. All of them. He adjusted his pack over his shoulder and chest so that it sat in the most comfortable way and looked expectantly at his guide.

Well, if he was sure! She nodded while she wandered and ended up wading in a bit deeper to try and find something good. She stopped suddenly, looking down, and then rushed back to the man and handed him her basket before returning. Her head was in the water this time as she did... something. Her shoulders were very obviously moving. Then she came up with several large oysters and ran back to the man with her blade in her mouth.
"Which one?" she asked, offering them out. She'd be keeping the ones he didn't want, thank you very much!

He gathered his courage and chose one of the big ones that she had pulled out, offering large hands to hold the others while she fought with his. He knew she would expect him to eat it raw. Maybe if he just swallowed it and tried not to choke? That was his game plan, yes. He watched her as she used her patented techniques to open the shell. She made it look so easy but he bet he could pound this silly thing on a rock for hours before it opened for him. She was of the sea..he wasn't sure what he was of. But it definitely wasn't oysters.

The oyster the man had chosen was particularly large. She smiled sideways and shook her head. He was definitely trying to impress her! It was a bit difficult to open too, but she simply pulled harder. For a moment it seemed to plateau and then she made a face of determination, the muscles in her arm tensed, and it popped open. There! She went about cutting it off of the bottom shell and offered it to the man.
"Do it fast," she said, "Like liquor." Maybe he'd had more experience with booze than oysters. She'd have begun opening the others if she wasn't so curious to see how the man was going to react. She smiled at him.

He handed her hoard of oysters back determindedly and picked up his..food? He closed his eyes, stuck out his tongue and immitated her earlier slurp. Holy mushroom, that thing did not taste any better then it looked! He kept his eyes tight shut, thought of citrusy things and swallowed. He kept it down, somehow .. someone up there must have been watching over him.. he thought he would be skipping lunch now anyway. He gave her his first real smile after he wiped his mouth. "I did it!" He had surprised himself, if she wasn't here there would be a succint return to the sea for the oyster. They must taste much better cooked, he was sure of it.

The young woman put her hand over her mouth and giggled. Hah! He had still obviously suffered, but he had done it. When his eyes found hers again she clapped her hands together, clacking the remaining oysters. He'd done well!
She gestured toward the shore then. "Hm?" Would it be alright if they went back to the beach now? She wanted to hunt for pearls with this big man! She couldn't say for sure that there would be any, but it might be nice to look anyway.

He tilted his head and "Hmmm'ed?" back at her. Wondering what exactly she wanted now. At least she seemed a little easier in his presence, which made him feel a little easier too. He started to walk back to the shore, considering rinsing his mouth out with sea water but eventually deciding that the after taste of raw oyster really wasn't all that bad after all. He flicked his feet like a cat when he got to shore, the sand was sticking to him terribly. "So what should we do now?" That was if she even still wanted his boring self around.

Trelenwy began to hum to herself and untied her skirt. It stuck to her legs for their dampness but she didn't seem to mind. She brushed off a rock at the shore with her foot, cleaning her foot of sand in the process, and plopped down on it.
That being done, she began to crack open the oysters, still humming.
"Name?" She hadn't looked up from her shellfish, but she probably wasn't talking to the oysters.

He mimicked her and scraped the sand off his own feet, "Theriar." He said succinctly. "You?" He kind of liked talking like this, not many seemed to appreciate the art that was body language, but it was still an effective tool for communication, you didn't have to put everything into words neccessarily if you didn't want to. They seemed to be doing just fine after all. He took one of the oysters from her small pile and examined the half shell, (that didn't have the meat in it), carefully. How interesting. Pearly insides definitely were more attractive then the matte grey and black outer cover.

"Trelenwy."
On the second oyster, she gave a loud "hah!" From the pink flesh she pulled a rosy pearl of middling size. She held it up to show Theriar, who now had a name. She was beaming. "See?" it was as easy as that! People just didn't want to risk their fingers shucking or spend the time blowing sand at them.

Theriar poked it, "So, why doesn't everyone do this, do they not like eating them?" Surely everyone would have a fair pile of pearls tucked away if it were this easy. Especially for those who didn't mind the water. Hey, he had gotten wet and hadn't keeled over! How about that! "This...is fun." He smiled slowly at her. "Are there other wondeful secrets of the ocean like this that I don't know about?" He asked her, taking his shell out to marvel over. "How are these formed do you know? Is it like..teeth? Maybe?"

"Not many farms," Trelenwy replied. Not a lot of people wanted to go through the trouble. Hers was very small to start with, but it was more fruitful than wandering the ocean at random. She shrugged. "Not many pearls."
The other two, for example, had none.
She eyed Theriar at his question while offering him another oyster. He hadn't seemed too offended for too long. Was he being serious about the shells? "They squeeze them out their back," she said. "Snails."

"Really?" He paused. "Well as if thats not the wirdest thing." He looked a bit flabbergasted and ran his hand over the intricate smooth curve for about the hundreth time now. "I suppose it must be like our crystals then, so perhaps not so strange after all." Add to the fact that there were snails underwater to begin with and he had learned quite a bit today about a whole bunch of things. "Thank you, Trel. I didn't realize there was so much about the ocean I didn't know." He still somewhat disliked the wayer but he had survived his first encounter with it.

Trelenwy smiled, successfully fighting back a laugh. Of course they made their own shells! It wasn't as if nature made them and left them around to crawl into! There were actual teeth in the ocean too, but she had the feeling that Theriar wouldn't want to know that there were big carnivorous creatures swimming in the water.
"Welcome, Ther," she teased. "Could visit." He was certainly welcome to find her. He wasn't nearly so scary and big as he had been earlier.

"I will soon." He promised. He had actually had fun out here. Something he had quite forgotten existed at home with his solemn household. He remembered that he liked it. Besides there were all these fascinating things out there that he should learn more about and she was a wealth of knowledge. "Thank you." He said sincerly,"I really enjoyed the time."
