Pax bows its head. "If that is your will. I can help. If you'd like." It lifts its gaze again. It smiles at Thorne, at Shiloh, at the fetches, all equally, as if they're all the same. "You are what you are," it says. "What you have always been. This is not a change as you fear it." To Shiloh: "It's the first time the choice has been made for you. It is... complicated. I do not really understand it. If I try to explain, I think you will only become more frustrated." It falls silent for a moment. "You may choose your own place," says Pax. "For now, you have spaces here in the Court to keep your fetch." It crosses the room to Rabbit, its hooves clicking against the floor. "Yes," it says, gathering up one of the little squeepers. "You'll be less of what you were and more of what you are. It is natural, but accelerated." It gently bounces the little creature in its hands, and it starts to flail its wings through the bouncing. "Do not be afraid."

Mare makes a pleased noise at Pax's words, and Thorne glances at her doe eyes and simply cannot find it in him to hate her. Corr had been a nightmare - a confluence of greed and desire, warped into blackness from age and immortality. He isn't sure what this one is like, but she seems -
Mare inches closer to him, and yes, Thorne thinks, she seems far different than Corr.
"You'll stay here then?" Thorne asks her.
"If that is what you will," Mare replies.
Thorne sighs and looks at Pax. It seems that deer triplet will continue speaking in riddles all night. And frankly, Thorne is more tired than he is trying to let on, and he doesn't know how much longer he can handle this. Not to mention Alois really needs a doctor.
"Thank you," he says, unsure of what else there really is to say, "for - everything."
He could run around in circles trying to figure out just what nobles and non-mortals and wars and cycles meant all night long, but instead he simply found himself staring at the squeepers and trying to ignore his share of Alois's pain.
He really needed some sleep.

Don't be afraid. It was easy to hear, to smile and nod and agree to try, but much harder to actually accomplish. Rabbit managed an, "Okay," watching Pax bounce the squeeper with a small, worried smile.
He was still seated, the fetch he was pointedly refusing to look at standing by his shoulder. He'd deal with it later, since apparently it wasn't going anywhere. Pax had spoken of mentors, of him being a peer of Father's now. Rabbit only hoped Ezra was well equipped to deal with wibbling, confused explosions, because he was pretty sure he was building up to one. It was either that or an ulcer.
He looked past the deer creature to the others, wondering if he should be asking for addresses or phone numbers like it was the last week of the school year and they wouldn't see each other all summer. K.I.T. Huxy! In the end he stayed silent, waiting for a more proper dismissal. He had little doubt that if they were meant to see each other in Ashdown, the world would find a way to make sure they did.

Less of what I was and more of what I am. Isn’t that a promising answer. Alois wondered, then, what he truly was - or what he was intended to be. Another glance was spared to Rath in his imposing, leaning form, teeth ablaze with interest, and Alois chose to part from present company. „Go… Hang out in ze place zat Pax promised to you. We’ll talk later.“
„YES, YES WE WILL.“ Rath bowed and soon parted in the same humble manner as before.
„I assume, if we’re trapped in a cycle, zen it doesn’t matter how many times it’s began anew. We’f been removed from it now, didn’t he say? We can discuss zis at a later time.“ He wasn’t the only one to have suffered from the prior events, and he knew it well. Perhaps the others offered no obvious signs of task and trial, but the evidence lay in their eyes, their body language. Everyone present in the room needed rest. All information offered to them by Pax needed time to absorb. They would need to discuss it themselves, eventually, but now marked a poor time to do it.
To Thorne, he quipped dryly. „Ze only way I’m sitting in your car after zis is if you carry me. I shouldn’t be alif’e,“ he adds at the end, stressing it with a hiss. „It doesn’t make sense.“ The left he rest unsaid.
To Hux, to Shiloh, to the rest of them, he offered a margin more information. "We should all discuss zis. Perhaps not right away, but... I'll contact you, since I might be stuck in ze hospital." He looked to Thorne afterward, wordless, knowing he would faint if he stood.melancholies will start the noble meets on thu if you guys want!

Thorne sighs out at the interactions around him, at Mare loitering at his shoulder, looking beautiful in her wreckage, graceful even in undeath.
He looks over at Alois, eyebrow raising.
"Very well, if you insist," he says, mild, and crosses to Alois. In one fluid motion, he has the other in his arms, careful as though he were carrying the baby squeeps Rabbit now had. It is like watching an Olympic feat, Thorne carrying others. He's well accustomed to it by now, at the very least, and he does not leave must room for protest.
He looks at Pax.
"Is there anything else?" He asks, gently.
To the rest, he says, "I'm not difficult to find in Ashdown. If you call for me, I'll come. And if you need a safe place, I have one with enough space for you to crash or hide out. As for this... I agree that we should discuss it. After someone goes to the hospital."
He looks over at Shiloh. His eyes are shadowed, and he bumps a shoulder up in a silent question.
Will you be alright?

Pax's message was as cryptic as the rest of the bullshit they'd been fed that night, and it made Shiloh bristle. Still, it wasn't like there was a whole lot he could do; otherworld worked in mysterious ways, and at the end of the day, he was going home. Or well, as close to home as he could possibly get. Whatever wasn't court was fine by him.
"I... I—" He looked to Alois, but his breath caught and his voice stuttered. "That... yeah. Eventually." talking about it would only be a benefit. Even if he hadn't learned much about the other tithes, having a support group was important, perhaps downright necessary. The thought about dealing with this alone was somewhat sickening. He felt dread creep up his spine as the thought of explaining this to Jamie.
Well, he could hide it, except he already knew he wouldn't.
He bumps back against Thorne's shoulder, somewhat listless, but the intent is clear. Yeah. Probably..
To Pax, he only asks a final question, "Will I be able to speak with you again?" because truth was, he had lots of questions, but none of the energy nor will to ask them tonight. He was tired. They all were. Hetzerei whenever's clever man i'm down!!!

A being had appeared at Hux's elbow almost as soon as he'd settled into one of the high-backed chairs. A fetch. His fetch.
'lilt,' it said without words. 'i am lilt.'
Its voice was soft and sweet and seemingly innocent; it floated at the back of his mind and brought forth a sugary taste in his mouth that made him grimace. He didn't bother to look at her, just stared forward; at Pax, as they spoke.
The fetch whined. It touched his arm and he jerked the limb away with a warning growl.
'master,' it whined. 'i love you, i'll do anything for you, please look at me.'
Hux refused. His grey-blue eyes had darkened and they boiled with both hate and disgust. He wanted nothing to do with his new title, nothing to do with his fetch. All he wanted to do was curl up on the floor of his sister's home and not. think. yet here he was, summoned against his will by an otherwordly beast that pretended to be friendly. Annoyingly sober.
Even as the others continued to question the 'friendly' one, Hux stayed quiet. He brooded.
Lilt collapsed in an ugly lump beside his chair, shunned and miserable because of it.
