❝..Next to the Throne..❞

The man's eyes watched her speed, and from his brute strength, rather than nimbleness, he saw how she contorted around his motion to limit the damage he did. As he saw her push off of his hilt he would step back and got back into position and stance. His eyes went to the new comer for a moment as he checked on if she was immediately hostile to his brother. The man's concern for his family seemed to trump his safety and gave him a disadvantage at times. Though as he turned, he witnessed something off. His eyes would squint while he saw the fur growing on each limb of her body while his eyes locked upon her.

His hand clenched upon the blade before watching the transformation complete. His eyes would behold the mother bear before him, and his hand loosened on the blade, seeing the paw swipe. The blade would drop to the ground as he put his hands up catching the claw, the ash around his feet shooting off to the side. His eyes would blink slowly as he looked up at the bear and grip it's arm. He'd then lift it over his shoulder and drag it forward. He'd then attempt to throw the bear to the ground with a great force, his body set on asserting dominance even over another creature.

Khree'en growled at her opponent as she felt her claws stop as she bared her long canine teeth, her brown fur flicking around her and rippling with her movement as she stood on her hind legs, overshadowing the young king with her height. The fact that he was able to stop her claws surprised her, but it didn't put her off. She had expected as much to happen and the fact that he had stopped her hurt her pride slightly however she put more force on her claws as she attempted to overpower the king, her eyes searching for an opening somewhere, anywhere at this point.

As she looked she finally found one, but it wasn't a lethal one like she would want. Barring her long fangs once more she forced herself back down onto all fours as she used her head- for once- and slammed into his torso with her thick skull attempting to push him onto his back.

Herod looked to her as the paw was stopped his eyes golden staring to the bear like figure as it even tried to apply more pressure, though his body remained unmoved as he stared to her eyes. His mouth frowning a bit while he pushed the paw off of him. His strength seemed to trump the strength that the woman put forth. He'd allow the bear to rear off onto the grond once more as his hands prepared for what ever she'd throw forth, his eyes locked onto her while he let his hands twitch a bit. Though when she reared forward, his body felt the impact of the great skull of the bear. His eyes winced a bit as he grabbed it while it attempted to push him back.

There was one thing to push him back into, the river. His feet slid around an inch as he stared down at the bear. The man's eyes seemed to calm as he opened his palms and gripped the bear by the sides and lifted it over his shoulders. His arms throwing the massive beast back if with a great swing as he looked to her with his hands at the ready to continue the bout.

The sun set and the darkness soon set in as the battle finally ended. Ambrosia stared at the two trying to gauge their injuries from afar and who was the most calm at the moment. Choosing one she walked towards Herod, or at least the direction she believed him to be. The ball of light glowing in her hand slowly sank into her skin, her whole body beginning to slowly glow and provide light for the small area around her, she allowed herself to blush lightly at having others see her power...not many have. As she neared him she tried to remain calm and gentle in all of her body language so that he realized she wasn't a threat before she even began to speak. "Are you injured? I can take a look. I have some supplies in my bag that can help." She was rambling, even she knew that, but she couldn't help it she was worried about both of them and whether they were both hurt...There was a gentleness in her eyes as she looked up at the man before her...

Khree'en was panting hard and her naturally pale face had turned to a paler white, mirroring the color of the foam that comes from the water when it hits itself upon a rock. She had returned to her human form, the bear that she had become earlier long gone and instead it was replaced with the barbarian girl, slightly torn up from the fight that- in all honesty was not entirely her fault. She sat on her knees, her right arm clutching her upper left as blood slowly rolled down across her fingers, turning them a dirty rusted color as she glared over at the champion of this match, Herod was his name wasn't it? What she assumed was his name echoed in her head like it was in an empty cave, and every time it ricocheted off each side of her head she watched to smash it with a rock. Her bottom lip bled as she pressed them together, her eyes narrowed as the man who had defeated her, the other tribesmen had not interfeared with the skirmish and was still sitting on her horse a little ways away, the black blade within reach.

Khree'en looked over at Herod, bruises already setting in on her naked torso and one very well placed one just below her right eye, sharp marks rested just below her ribcage from the blades bite and a few cuts stood out on her hands- but they had long since clotted over- no longer bleeding. Khree'en looked over at the girl who had showed up, just now noticing her presence among them, how long had she been watching? Khree'en felt a slight heat rise to her cheeks as she felt a little embarrassed, knowing that she had lost in front of two others that had been watching. Gritting her teeth and ignoring the pain that spiked though her jaw she looked over at Herod "Why do you have strength like that?" she hissed out at him.

Herod stood amongst the spread ashes as his eyes blinked slowly, The bruises on his body weren't of much bother to him, as he had a claw mark that crossed his chest, barely scratching the skin, but creating slight swelling. His eyes blinked slowly while he wiped a bit of blood from his lip hearing the girl approach though, a hand went up as she grew near and he shook his head. He'd then look to her with a stoic gaze while nodding his head towards the woman on her knees across from him. "She needs it more than me." With these words his hand would go to the ground as he lifted the sword his hands released long ago. His hands lifted to his hair where his knuckles held some bruises, as did his forearm, one of them revealed as he stepped forward looking to her.

She didn't seem happy with the result at all. The man's gaze met her's while he approach not even a half foot from her. He'd then look down while he sheathed the sword and sighed. "Strength comes from not only brute force, but the effort behind that, the experiences you have, and the view that all Opponents are stronger than you. So you must infact put forth the limit that you have set and go beyond it. I am strong because I did not underestimate you due to class, gender, race, or background. I do not have a prejudice. You looked on me different from your own clansmen, when you are still Phobian by blood. Therefore you underestimated me."

Ambrosia looked up at Herod, confusion and worry in her eyes until he spoke. She turned her head to look at Khree'en, she seems to have calmed down some. She turned her head back to look Herod in the eye, her own holding worry for the stranger before her. "Alright, I'll see to her first, but then I'm coming back and helping you...so don't go anywhere." she said the last bit as a soft demand. And even if he did start to walk away she'd follow him and make him stop so she could fix him up. After all, he was injured too and this was why she had spent a great deal of time reading tombs on herbs and what mixes would help with the different injuries. With a sigh and one last look meaning 'stay put' she headed over to the woman. Within a few seconds of looking at her she could tell she needed to stop the bleeding first.

Looking at the woman in the eyes she allowed her to see that she had no intention of hurting her and genuinely wanted to help. "I have some herb poultices in my bag that i need to put on your arm to stop the bleeding, can you keep the pressure on the wound until I can clean it up and put it on?" She paused, realizing she should probably try to establish she meant no harm. "My name is Ambrosia, and to prove that I mean you no harm...here." She quickly pulled out the poultice made from Yarrow and snapdragon to help stop bleeding and prevent infection and layered it onto a scrap of cloth, setting it facing upwards on her leg, then took the small knife she had hidden in her waistline and slid it across the top of her forearm. Blood quickly began to leak from the new wound and she quickly took the cloth with the poultice and placed it on her wound. She then looked at the woman before her, and smiled sweetly, "See, not poison...now you." She quickly prepared another cloth with the same poultice and placed it in front of the woman to place on her arm if she chose to. She then pulled out another poultice of witch-hazel and opium poppy, and portioned a little bit onto a piece of parchment and placed it before the woman, "This one is for bruises and pain...Be careful not to eat it, while it is safe on the skin, it can do great harm if eaten. If you need any help or have any more pains, please don't be afraid or worried to ask me. I'd be glad to help."

With that she closed her bag and took a few steps back towards Herod, her eyes still watching the woman in hopes that she would trust her and help herself by stopping the bleeding. Slowly she turned back around and looked at Herod. She gave him a kind smile before looking down at his shirt and the bruises that were starting to form on him. Worry for both people shown in her eyes and she sighed and looked at him, "Ok, your turn. Would you mind please removing your shirt so I may get a better look at your wound?" She needed to see how bad the wound was, though she had doubt it would be too serious, he had fast reflexes and moved with grace while in battle. But nonetheless, she didn't want to give him the wrong poultice. While she hadn't made them, she had studied all the herbs and gathered them herself when she used to go out with the town herbalist. Before she had left to explore the different kingdoms she had asked the herbalist to make her multiple poultices so that if she ever were injured or came across someone injured, she could help. She hoped to soon master it and be able to make them herself.

If I could just believe in me

As the fight continued, Kyran felt himself become more sleepy. While the bout was by no means boring, Kyran's attention span was less than zero. His eyes drooped, his faith in Herod increasing and what seemed like a fairly simply battle as the sun dipped below the horizon. He barely registered the arrival of a new person arriving and trying to ask about the fight. Kyran shrugged, and turned back towards the warring individuals. "Stopping the battle is denying either of them honor, Miss. As much as I don't like it either, once it begins, we cannot stop without dishonor." he replied, stooping down to sit crosslegged on the floor. While the ash was causing Kyran to feel sick, he was also to tired. Before he knew it, Kyran's head sank into his hands as he fell asleep..

Kyran woke finally as night reached them. Dirt, grime, and rheum was rubbed from Kyran's eyes and he took in the surroundings. As his eyes adjusted, Kyran stood up to see that the battle ended. Perhaps finally? He dimly watched the exchange and couldn't help smirk slightly at Herod's words. Hopefully, Herod taught the barbaric woman a lesson that she would not forget any time soon. He quietly waited for Ambrosia to help the woman before slowly walking forward. As Ambrosia focused on Herod, Kyran politely stepped aside.

Standing a respectful five or so feet away, Kyran gave a gentle smile. However, the smile was somewhat cold, empty even. It was a smile that Kyran gave when he was secretly really smug, but did not want to admit it. He stooped down and took a good look at her face, memorizing the details of her appearance under the moonlight. Who knows when it would serve to help the kingdom? Despite the fact the Kyran just woke up from a nap in the middle of an actual battle, he was back in a chipper, focused mood.

"Despite that, you were brave and an honorable opponent for my brother." he commented lightly as if he was simply stating the weather. "You are powerful, perhaps even more powerful than many warriors in our ranks. But as brother said, what you simply lack compared to him is personal experience." Of course, Kyran was a filthy hypocrite in this manner. But to no matter! "Which is why if I may ask, where did you get that sword?" His eyes darted to where the dark metal was laying in the ashes. Queen Aurene. What happened to her was a mystery. And this woman is perhaps the greatest lead since perhaps forever.

Khree'en looked at Herod, she still held anger in her eyes as he spoke, but it was a dull anger with a fire behind it that slowly started to fade as he spoke. From what he could tell he didn't speak down to her or act higher then her just because he had beaten her, however that was what she saw. She was listening to him and wasn't paying attention to the girl who made her way over to her. But when she felt the hand on her she jerked, her attention being pulled from Herod to the woman who tended her without her permission. A frown decorating her face as she jerked her arm away several times with a tsk making is way though her lips several times while she moved, but she only started listening to her when she saw the cut and the fact that it was not poison she was giving her. Khree'en let the girl put the bandages around her arm, pushing the skin together so it would heal itself. Khree'en watched the girl now with a frown on her face while she spoke about the other ointments- It wasn't the fact that she didn't appreciate the offer, she did, but it was more along the lines of she found the attempt to heal her bruises and lessen her pain to be...along the lines of offensive. Her tribe did not cover up and heal bruises when they where supposed to be shown off amongst her people like badges of honor, So she rejected it and pushed it back toward the woman.

If things had been left like that things may have been good- but the little frail lord from earlier came back over and his very demeanor instantly put her on edge, her shoulders stiffened, causing her injured arm to ache, What the hell was he so chipper about. She felt her eye begin to twitch as he spoke, but he continued to speak, a slow smile crawling across Khree'en's face. Call it bitterness at her loss if you wish- a sore loser if that was the coined term but by the time Kyran's last word left his lips she was mere inches from his face, her short auburn hair flicking against his cheeks "I bet anyone would look powerful compared to you little one" she said, her cracked lip bleeding again as she looked into his purple eyes with her brown ones "I bet the first time you swung a sword you hurt yourself if you were ever able to pick it up in the first place." she said as she pushed herself slightly, feeling a new torrent of blood soak the bandage around her arm as she grabbed the back on his neck with her right hand, her fingers leaving bloody finger prints on the back of his neck "you sound so smug talking about honorable opponents as if you were the one fightin' me, cause trust me- I would have cleaved off your arms if it was you instead of him." she said, looking over at Herod for a moment before she moved away from Kyran, pulling her hand away and looking at her wrist, her bracelet was covered in blood. The leather turned dark and the metal letters turned red. Another irritated tsk came from her throat as she pulled the bracelet off and went over to the river, starting to wash it off as she dangled it into the water, the letters LE slowly being cleaned by the water that splashed upon it while the rest of the letters washed in the water. Looking over at Kyran as her bracelet washed, Khree'en decided to give him a break and with a sigh she pulled the bracelet from the water, revealing the rest of the word, Letho.

Khree'en began fastening the bracelet to her wrist again as she began to speak to Kyran "A pretty blonde man who had this-" she said, jerking her wrist slightly to indicate her bracelet "-attacked my tribe when we where out hunting" she said to him as she finished fastening the bracelet around her wrist "I found the sword lying in the badland snow. Bones were frozen to it so I broke them, grabbed the sword and ran him through with it. It has been mine since then" Khree'en said. It wasn't the whole truth but it would do. She didn't actually kill the man...but her mother did- nor did she speak of the events that lead up to the sword or after the confrontation with the man, she didn't mention that he was the prettiest cold hearted b*****d she had ever seen either.

Herod's hand ran through his hair while he watched the young girl go and tend to the woman. She fought the help, but Herod didn't care so much as for her tradition. She wasn't an enemy, she needed a few balms. His head turned to Kyran with a quirked look. He knew the look he made was more smug than endearing. But he didn't want his brother to fall out of the mindset of the greatness, Herod thought he was. He allowed his arm to limber up. He would then listen to what his brother told and slightly disagree. More so than that he wanted to tell her that she underestimated him. He would then hear the young girl. He sigh a bit while closing his eyes. "I am fine. But if you really feel the need to check." He'd untie his shoulder plate's odd upper torso design as he let it crash to the ground. After he'd remove the shirt that was under it and reveal his toned, and massive upper body as he looked over at the woman who began to speak to his brother.

He'd put a hand on the young girl's shoulder as he put a finger walking towards her as she began to walk to her as she washed the bracelet. He'd stand as she began to explain the origin of how she recieved the blade. A Letho with blonde hair. It sounded odd enough, for most letho's had black or pale hair. He'd blink slowly as his thumb went up and slowly wiped some of the blood from her lip. It felt a bit odd to hear of such a man having the blade that had been lost for many years attacking huntsmen. He blinked slowly as he shook his head. "I can assure you. The acts of one man does not define a people, a clan, or even a family." He'd say while lifting her hand to look to the bracelet. "This is of the Letho nobility...But none of us in the royal family's accessory." He'd say before looking back to the other woman as he withdrew his hand from Khree'en.

Ambrosia listened to the words uttered by the other man, while his words weren't necessarily harsh they were more than likely offensive to a tribeswoman who take pride in their strength. She tried not to listen to their conversation but kept her ears open in case another fight broke out...

Ambrosia then laughed lightly at Herod's show of annoyance at her wanting to help him, but hey. He gave in didn't he? She smiled softly and shook her head, "There's strength in letting other's help you every once in a while you know." she said softly as she kept her gaze low to grant him some privacy as he removed his shirt. A very feint blush came to her cheeks whens he looked back him. His chest had some swelling, the wound barely broke skin but it'd be good to use something to further prevent an infection...Hmm, what's good for inflammation? Oh! Potato is good for inflammation. And turmeric for infections...Let's see do I have that mixture? She thought as she dug into her bag, determination on her face. She managed to find the mixture just as Herod placed a hand on her shoulder as he began to walk away. She sighed and followed behind him, grabbing his shoulder plates and upper torso design as she went. She remained a few feet behind to grant him his space and surveyed the area around them instead. Keen to wait till he was finished so she may apply the poultice to him. She tried not to overhear their conversation as it was none of her business. But she did hear the name Letho a few times. Ok...so maybe I had bossed around a member of the Letho house...I'll apologize later if I've offended them. Until then...I'm going to patch him up, whether he likes it or- She lost her thought as she looked up and realized Herod was now looking at her again. She picked up his pieces, that had seemed to have fallen out of her grip, once more and walked the few other feet. Setting his pieces down she grabbed a piece of cloth and began putting some of the poultice on it. Looking up at him, keeping her gaze level with his she offered him the bandage, "Here, while the cut isn't deep..this should help with the inflammation and protect against possible infection. It'll also help with bruising...You have a rather nasty bruise on your forearm as well as on your knuckles. You only really need the bandage for your chest, the rest you can just rub a little of the mixture onto the bruised areas..." She waited for him to grab the bandage keeping her eyes locked with his, showing she wasn't going to back off until he at least took the bandage.

As she glowered at him and suddenly grabbed his neck, Kyran made no effort to fight against it. She was justified in his anger, and he was only rubbing salt into the wounds. "It is true, you and perhaps every person upon this land is more powerful than I." he admitted. "You can easily overpower me with a single hit, hence why unlike most Phobian brethren, I am not a true warrior or fit for any role..." When she released and began washing, he gingerly wiped the blood off his neck and took a step back. His eyes then caught on the bracelet. LE? What was that? Then, the as Kyran saw the words.. Letho? Who was this woman? She carried the sword of Queen Aurene and a bracelet with Letho on it.

Then, more information came all at once. A pretty blonde man attacking her tribe and the sword was found in the snow. Ah.. that might explain her.. opinion of the city folk. "I am glad that you survived. That person, whomever that Letho rmay be, must have been a horrible person." Honestly, he wasn't sure what exactly to do now. He glanced back at the sword. It was a lost treasure; it was in the hands of this barbaric woman. However, in some way, it seemed to almost be in its rightful place. But with the addition of the bracelet with Letho on in, Kyran had to wonder: What had the Letho family done to her tribe?

From the corner of Kyran's eyes, he glanced at the new woman with mild suspicion. Was she some kind of Ethe refugee? She didn't seem like part of the barbaric plans. And she seemed too bright to be part of the Phobian community. Now that Kyran was properly awake, he was finally acknowledging the weight of the situation. In the middle of nowhere, with one person who probably was not fond of anyone at the moment, and another whom Kyran did not know. He grasped the cloth of his cloak tightly, taking a step back to think about it moreso.

Khree'en looked over at Herod for a moment as she shrugged "Blood runs though everyone here, maybe someone pretending to be a Letho" she said as she looked over at the clansmen who had been sitting on their horse the entire time and Khree'en pressed her lips together and let out a loud high pitched whistle and the clans men rode forward, picking up the black sword along the way. The clansmen would be darkerskinned with bright blue eyes a slightly hooked nose and thin lips, and when the clans man reached out she handed Khree'en a thick woolen cloak that she gladly took in order to cover up her naked body.

She wrapped it around her body as best as she could before she started to look out over the Ashlands, her copper brown hair wisping around her ears and flicking against the back of her neck. Khree'en could have sworn she saw the ashes start to flick around, causing her to shiver slightly and the hair on the back of her neck rise. Khree'en took in a deep breath and slowly let it out just as she thought she heard a roar of pain somewhere in the distance, causing her shoulders to stiffen as she looked over at the clansmen and brought her hand up, slowly taking the sword from her clansmate and holding onto it, it made her feel safer to have something to hold onto. She jerked the sword up slightly in order to hold the pommel of the sword just below her chest. The clansmen turned around and started to ride off.

Khree'en looked over at Kyran "why were you out here? where you trying to die?" she asked him calmly, remembering when she had first seen him out her a few hours ago.

❝..Next to the Throne..❞

Herod would look back to the girl who followed him near religiously to tr and heal him. He would look to her as she began to rub the solution onto him. His eyes closing while he slightly listened to the words of care for his health, while he did, he loosely grabbed a bandage while sighing a bit. The darkness that fell over him made him feel a bit more at home. He'd allow his hand to caress the wound on his chest while watching his brother's shift in behavior. His hand would stretch out as he planted his massive palm onto the boy's head. His hand would rub lightly as he closed his eyes and lifted his chin. He'd then give a slight smirk while he removed his hand and began wrapping his own chest. His eyes would close while he did so, hearing the roar only made his smile fade.

His hand would finish tying the bandage a bit underwhelmingly from under his arms. He'd then look to the woman as she recieved the sword and looked comforted by it. It wasn't an odd feeling, but an odd sight outside of what he's experienced. Only few like him had done that before. He'd then cross his arms as the question was raised to why Kyran was out of the kingdom. His eyebrow raised a bit while limbering his shoulder, trying to keep his heart pumping a little, incase the roar wasn't a distant threat.

Ambrosia smiled softly at his acceptance of her treatment. Good now he'll heal faster and without complications... She watched him wound the bandage around himself. She laughed lightly as he finished and shook her head. "If I may..I'll fix that." she said not waiting for permission before she reached over and refastened his bandage around his chest. A smile played on her lips as she found pride in wrapping his bandage right and knowing it will help him. Not long after a sound of pain resonated through the Ashlands, making her jump slightly and her power turning off in her surprise. The light she had been shining from her skin cutting out, allowing the darkness to penetrate the area she had previously been lighting. Sighing she shook her hands to relieve her tension and turned on her power once more. As the woman addressed the other male she too found herself intrigued, why exactly were ANY of them out here...she knew why she was, her ball of light got her lost again...It didn't help that Rascal had run off. As if on cue Rascal came sauntering up and sat beside Ambrosia, dropping her personalized bow at her feet, her quiver still looped around his neck. A sigh of relief escaped her and she squatted down and removed the quiver from her beloved pet. She then hugged the large wolf tight. "I had wondered where you had gone!" she said smiling as he laid his forehead against hers in a sign of love and respect. "Thank you for keeping these safe." she said as she slung the quiver across her shoulder, she ran a hand across the finished wood of her beloved bow. The bow itself was a beautiful hand crafted piece, with roses carved into it and gems embedded in the center of the roses. Her brother had gotten it made for her for her sixteenth birthday. Her mother and father bought her the quiver and her first batch of arrows. She cherished these things dearly, especially now that they held the memory of her brother and mother.
