alois scholz (unmasked) || 25/25 || side eyeing guests “He wanted your heart?“ A brow quirked high on his forehead. Now why would he want that? So much of this doesn’t fit together properly. Perhaps I should stay longer in Father’s graces until I can figure something of the man. Something more substantial, more truthful, than what I have now.
Alois cleared his throat, spoke slowly. „If I had to guess, ze Burning Man aims for ze Sorrowful One - ze holder of ze Court. Ze one wis’ ze most power - if he has motives similar to our human goals. But I don’t see what benefit we would have in seeing ze Court remain in her power, or passed over to him. All of zis is still a rampant mystery. Including zat odd bit about befriending Sunny.“
Two fingers tapped his lips thoughtfully. „Curious. At least we know none of ze guests will see sacrifice. I wonder, zough… Why do ze guests zen stick around? Zey haf’ all zeir lives, and proper copies of us. Why stick around? What is zere to gain?“ He asked, eyes falling on Zac. „No one knew ze difference. No one knew we were taken. From my experience, people aren’t prone to altruism. Not zis many. Perhaps zey came to enjoy ze spectacle?“

It was a good question at the end. He knew they were ‘stuck’ till the end but…. “”I’m not sure I knew most of you, I’m sorry.” He said as a preamble. But no, he hadn’t realized people were missing. He thought there might be more to it than that though, if only because when he had gone missing, well. “I spent seven days or so lost here myself.” He admitted. “But not with these odd…circumstances. I don’t think I learned as much as you did though, I found the Library, and it let me in so I found out how the books here behave but…” He rolled his shoulders in a shrug. “There were two, cats when we started, they said we were trapped here till it was done, the only way out was through they said before they kind of, dissolved. So, I think honestly they just responded to the invitations. We got invitations; the person offering them wouldn’t go away till we took them. That said though, I think some of them are here for altruism. I said I’d try and help get Heliodora home. I’ll… I’ll try and help you too all right? If there is one thing I’ve seen of this place is that you find that there are familiar faces.” He did though; pull into him self when he mentioned Heliodora, expecting a negative reaction. ‘I don’t think I know as much as other people, or even as much as my Guardian, or Autumn…but If we get you out, you can talk to Mr. Mercer, he might tell you some things that will help with what you already know.”

alois scholz (unmasked) || 25/25 || being interrogative Alois spoke with a sigh intermixed. „And I suppose most people would prefer risking zeir lives instead of kicking a cat, or whatever it is zat sent ze invitation…“
He offered no reaction to the name of Heliodora. „But, how did you know a person named Heliodora would be attending if all you received was an invitation? Do you lif’ wis’ zis person? Or are you in contact wis’ zem somehow? If it’s anysing like a normal party invitation zen zere should be no mention of a guest list before you even show up.“ Which led him to wonder - could some of these guests be here out of motivation toward one of the attendees? He doubted Zac not at all when the boy said that he knew nothing about their disappearances. And since Ashton, too, seemed unfazed despite his absence… No one arrived on count of the missing persons. They couldn’t all have been forced to attend due to incessant visitors. Curious.
„I’ve never seen a library myself but if you’f managed zat, zen you already know more about zis place zan I do. I was not… Allowed to learn much, traditionally, about is Court or ze people in it. What I gained of zem I learned srough less relied-upon sings. Observation is part of it, but inference is more accurate. What did ze library tell you?“
He seemed far more interested in the learning Zac gained than any mention of the other partygoers. „I know Mercer, I’f met him once, but he’s not here right now and you are. What do you know about zis segment of Ashdown?“

Zac Bantock - 25/25 - making one attempt to see if there is anything that he might need to know.“Well, it did look, fairly human, I think that makes it harder still. I mean, I don’t know” He shrugged. He hadn’t thought about kicking the thing, maybe he should have. “Then again maybe they still wouldn’t have left, maybe that would have meant their death and that’s why they were so...insistent.” He reached for the braid that wasn’t there at the questions regarding Heliodira, and still found it missing, he diverted to chew at the edge of his thumb, eyes sliding away to focus on some mote or cobweb, then perhaps to one of the taxidermied animals. “No, the only way she would have been here, would have been if this had been in her glade...She’s trapped there. She’s been there as long as Adoelle, but at the same time she’s been here...forever. I’ve been trying to find a key or a clue as to how she was first bound. I think she’d be more helpful...to everyone if she could go home you know? Sunny wanted her home, she wanted Michael home too but…” He shook his head. “Well, he died here apparently, after the, the incident at Black Friars. I don’t have the details though for that.” He glanced around the room and sighed. “Unfortunately, I don’t know a great deal about where we are, I’m sorry. I mean, I can make guesses from old stories if they are Fey, but stories change with time and it would be...dangerous to think we understand something because ‘ye olde book’ says they do certain things or, call themselves things. The thing that sticks most in my mind right now that ties to your situation is that … Every, I think hundred years I think, Fairy makes a tithe to hell, normally it’s said they send children, and no offence you seem a little old for that by Human standards. Although… I suppose if they were particularly long lived.” He shrugged, it wasn’t information it was just...books, guesses that gave him no particular direction. He needed to talk to the others they had come with. Maybe, just maybe they could get something solid. If Ezra, the burning man was ...kind to Alois… He thought of other books he had read, the rare few that didn’t ascribe human motivations to the monsters and frowned. “Damn, I feel like their more complicated than people, but maybe it’s just because we need to understand what they want and why, their reasons and motivations whereas most people we can just… make assumptions.” “...is there anything else you know that might help us?” He glanced back pleading, he wanted to get them out, he wanted people safe. Alois it seemed might be very helpful in understanding the ‘burning man’, and that in turn might save lives.

Alexis Tucker - 25/25 - Waking up "What the <********>" Alexis managed quietly, bleary-eyed and hair disheveled, one hand on the doorway. They looked....tired. "Anyone know what time it is? I think I just passed out for, like, two hours, what did I miss." As introductions go, it wasn't a particularly good one; but, at the very least, their air of dishevelment only added to their aesthetic of 'will drag you under the lake and eat you'. Hetzerei it's not loud down here. alexis says hi

alois scholz || 25/25 || side eyeing new occupant “Sounds like zere’s a lot of information I’m missing out on when it comes to zis Ashdown.“ He sighed. Who was Heliodora and why was she trapped? What was the connection between her and Adoelle? Did that mean both Melany and Ezra were trapped here too? Was it the enslaved leading the enslaved? Who was Michael? Who was Sunny, for that matter, and why did she give two shits about all these people? The questions only piled on as he asked more of Zac himself. Perhaps it was time to give it a rest and leave these thoughts for a chat with Mercer, or Zac himself later. Regardless, the topic sounded charged with the nervous man. He doubted he would get far with subsequent questions before those nerves demanded a topic change. „I remember Blackfriars, but none of zat pertains to our situation now.“
The Fey story given sounded curiously similar to the dilemma they faced now, however, and Alois perked at its mention. „I don’t know who it’s for, if hell or someone specific, but… I suppose if we’re looking at sings in relation to one anozzer, it makes sense zat we might be considered children in ze eyes of our ‚friends‘ here. Twenty-one is certainly not of child age by human standards, but zeirs? Who knows how old any of zem are? It’s not like I ever nonchalantly asked for Fat’er’s age while cooking him eggs in ze morning, you know?“
He hummed thoughtfully. A pair of fingers tapped against his lower lip. „Reasons and motivations are useful, especially when dealing wis’ humans. We know, however, zat zey act wis’ purpose. Zese moves zey make are planned - not guided by whim. It’s all we can know for tonight, maybe. So, it might be better to act wis’out zose reasons and motivations.
„I would help you, Zac, but honestly…“ He sighed. „What i know of Ezra is not… Particularly helpful to zis instance. It’s all inane sings like what he likes for breakfast, if he wants a newspaper taped to ze bas’room wall so he can read while he takes a s**t, and how many times he burns down ze living room wall in any given day. It’s not helpful sings. What i know of him might be better used for my own actions. I’ll see what I can do wis’ him regardless.“
He paused then, and shifted his attention to the stumbling (almost) human that wandered into the cellar. He frowned, and said no more of Fey talk to Zac. Now wasn’t the time. Casually Alois glanced at his bare wrist. „It’s nighttime,“ came his dull answer. „I might’f pissed Melany off to high heavens, but zat’s ze jist of it. I wonder if you could sleep srough a murder?“

Zac Bantock - 25/25 - going to share what little he knows. “It might be more help than I’m able to put together.” Zac sighed and stared at his feet. “If we can get you out of here, I’ll try and do better to give you what I know of this place.” He bobbed his head like he’d confirmed this with himself. “And I’ll talk to the others, I’ll see what they know and tell them what I know too… we’ll figure out how to get out of here, with you and the others.” He nodded.

Alexis Tucker / 25/25 / don't give me that s**t, goth boy "Wow, useful," Alexis grumbled, but their tone lacked any real bite to it. "Sleep through a murder? I mean, if I was as drunk as I'm pretty sure I am right now, yeah." They kept one hand on the doorframe, stepping further into the room. "******** Melany? Tall b***h? The hot one?"
