Supremely satisfied at his response, Misha allowed herself to melt into the new kiss. Her hand shifted to encourage him, her fingers moving to tease at the short hairs at the nape of his neck. His body heat bled against hers in such a natural manner that she wanted more. She parted her lips ever so slightly until she could just barely taste the warmth of his lower lip. It was so sweet. She felt the ache of it through her body.

Misha was attractive, that was undeniable. She was also willingly kissing him at sunset on a beach. The conditions were something out of a movie, not out of a normal guy's normal life. Perhaps luckily or unluckily for Misha, Brian wasn't exactly considering this. He was very much in the moment, in the here and now as he stroked her hairline with a thumb and sighed into the kiss. His tongue sought Misha's lip only once and only briefly, and it was shortly thereafter that he opened his eyes. It was only to be brief, but he wanted to make sure he wasn't crossing some line or she was desperate to escape. Something chaste was growing into something with a wee bit of tension. Brian was fairly certain that nothing would happen and almost preferred the thought of it, but he also didn't want to step over any boundaries he was unaware of. 2,726

The quick peek he stole served to put his mind at ease; Misha's expression was pure focused bliss. Her thick eyelashes made little shadows on her cheekbones where they brushed as she resisted any urge to sneak a look herself. All of the information she needed was in the kiss, anyway, in his reaction. Gentle and careful but growing firmer as if he were testing the limits to where she would go. She smiled into the kiss and tilted her head just the slightest bit to adjust their position. Then, with her hand still on the back of his neck, she led him deeper into the kiss until it balanced on the line between chaste and open-mouthed hunger.

Oh, good. Misha didn't seem perturbed in the slightest. He wasn't sure if this is what they were supposed to be doing on some cosmic level, but it certainly felt right. There were no expectations, no judgements, no obligations. It just was. They were both presumably hurting. They hadn't even mentioned the birds, and Brian's mind had thrust those thoughts out of one ear. It didn't matter any more. He wasn't so hurt.
His eyes flickered closed after just a momentary glance and he pressed back into the assertive kiss. Why not? What did he really have to lose? Everything felt perfect for just this moment. The hand at Misha's hip clutched softly and, on a whim, he altered their position by slinging a leg over Misha's. 2,854

Without thinking, she accommodated Brian's movement and, in fact, shifted to better allow for closeness. In doing so, she more completely tangled their bodies together. The positioning was a bit awkward but it barely distracted her. Misha had always enjoyed kissing, prided herself on doing it well, and lost herself easily in it. This, though, was especially sweet and slow and building. It felt wonderful. Brian's mouth on hers and his hand at her hip felt comforting and burning all at once. Any higher, smarter instinct that might have warned Misha against this level of physical investment with someone she technically only slightly knew? She had smothered it the moment their lips first touched. She knew nothing that felt so good could be a bad idea. Besides... It was Brian. Her hand left his, trusting him to keep a hold of her hip, and trailed up his arm in blindly wandering strokes. As it reached his shoulder, she slipped it behind his neck so that both of her arms were looped there. She pulled him closer to her, twisting further so they could meet at more points, shared body heat blocking out the cooling breeze coming from the water.

For some time, Brian relished the closeness. He easily let Misha's body entangle with his and connect with his. A hand raised and stroked Misha's hair and, slowly, gradually, he guided the kissing into less feverish territory.
He recognized the dangers. He knew that the two of them had only just met, that going much further than this could be disastrous, that regret could take away all of this comfort and happiness and closeness. He didn't want to let go just yet, of course. His hand remained at Misha's hip and held her close, but it was the kissing that calmed. He hoped that Misha could understand his intentions without awkward conversation. The kissing was good. Excellent, even. It just shouldn't escalate beyond. The moment they were sharing was to good to be endangered by further intimacy. 2,991

With Brian exerting control in a different direction and dialing back the growing aggression in their kisses, Misha caught her breath against his mouth with a soft gasp. She kept her eyes closed, though. The momentary pause served as an abrupt and somewhat unwelcome reminder of where they were and where they had come from and what it all could mean. While she was very certain her reactions had nothing to do with the recent trauma, she had a feeling Brian might be wondering about the reasons. It never crossed her mind to think he was kissing her due to any trauma of his own, any kind of emotional fall-out, for any reason other than he wanted to kiss her. What ego? Since his hand stayed on her hip, though, and the kisses did not fully stop... Misha kissed him again, softly, returning to the slow chastity from the start of their connection. Her hands loosened from their tangle behind his neck and moved to flatten her palms against the backs of his shoulders. She kept him close still but met his wordless request for less greed, albeit reluctantly.

Brian was not ignorant to Misha's disappointment. In fact, he felt it himself. There was still a part of him egging him on, trying to get him to push forward, and simultaneously beating its head against the proverbial wall. It was the right thing to do, though, wasn't it? Even if Misha was beautiful, even if she was strong and kind special somehow, this wasn't the way to go about it. He barely knew anything about her, and the age of lunging into bed with whoever liked the idea of a uniform was long gone.
Somehow this her grip on his body caused a warmth to spread across his shoulders and down his back, beginning at the point of Misha's hands. It unsettled him slightly, like a spark of vulnerability, and so he fought it back and nipped Misha's lip once. Everything continued to slow, though, until it seemed right to break away. He was still smiling when the kiss ended (rather broadly, actually) and pushed a lock of Misha's hair away from her face. His other arm now acted to hold him up. Beautiful, yes. Definitely beautiful.
His eyes were warm and grateful and... something else. Sparkling, almost. Clearly he didn't hold negative feelings toward the woman beside him. Hopefully she would feel none as well. It was hard to guess. After all, he barely knew her. 3,219

Seeing as his smile was awfully adorable and relaxed, there was no way Misha could avoid returning it... Even if she had wanted to keep a solemn face, it would have been impossible. Luckily, her own return smile blossomed naturally into something bright and warm and glowing. Despite disappointment at the kiss ending and the stop to anything further in that moment, a calm and happy feeling sat within her - just above the frustrated, whining "more" voice that she had practice ignoring (contrary to the belief of others). She leaned into his touch as his fingers pushed at a bit of her hair. Then she straightened for a moment to meet his gaze. She hummed a bit, gaze still a bit heated but now sparkling with more mischief and affection. "Well, Brian..." She barely managed to suppress her giggle but it was a near thing and he probably could tell anyway. She ducked her head and shifted until she could snuggle into him, tucking herself against his body with her head under his chin. She shifted her arms again to loop around his waist in a friendly, no-pressure manner. "Anyone ever tell you that you are incredibly good at kissing?"

Misha's smile caused more joy than Brian was willing to admit to himself. Her gentle lean was intoxicating, much like the rest of her, and Brian couldn't help but kiss her forehead. When she settled in he easily folded against her. His chin rested atop her head and his only regret was that he couldn't quite see her. He could still feel her, though. The hand previously at her hair slid down her side and then happily fell behind her back.
"Oh? Well they're so big they'd have better be good for something," he teased. "You have a certain finesse yourself." He sighed. Finesse was an understatement. He'd very nearly ravaged a woman on a semi-public beach. "You're something special, you know that?" 3,352

She laughed softly, the noise muffled in Brian's chest. Of course Misha knew she was something special; self-confidence and ego were never a problem for her. That said, she also believed others were special somethings, too. Like Brian. "Thank you." She tightened her arms about his waist in a squeeze for a moment and resisted the urge to tip her head upwards to nuzzle his throat. Brian was proving a definite temptation. She sighed, contented. "And don't cast aspersions on those lips. I won't stand for it... Or sit for it either, handsome."

He chuckled, the sound echoing in his chest and rumbling Misha's ears. It mingled with his heart beat and calm breaths. The hand at her back began to trace lazy, mindless shapes with its fingertips.
"Ooh, 'aspersions,'" he said. Context clues told him what he needed to know, he didn't need the Merriam-Webster definition. "I'm glad someone wants to defend them." He'd always sort if thought he had a bit of a lumpy head. If he could be pleasing without taking his shirt off, all the better!
"Did you lure me here? You're not a siren, are you?" He seemed to think a moment then shook his head. "Nah. I don't think sirens cuddle." 3,481

"That and I didn't exactly lure you here." Misha squirmed back slightly so that she could lift her head and grin up at him. She hated to put any distance between them but she wanted to see his expression, to see if he was still smiling as warmly as before. Her grey-eyed gaze searched over his face and pleasure warmed her again. "We were both just innocently walking along the beach. If anything, I should accuse you of indulging my silly sunset wishing game." She brought an arm away from his waist and lifted her hand to press a finger against his nose. Then she pressed it against his lips and winked. "Though if you tell me which is your room, I promise I'll leave engraved invitations from now on."

"Hey, there's nothing wrong with hope," Brian said and smiled. He was indeed still smiling, and rather broadly. His smile was sideways as he tried to contain his grin and the left side of his mouth was stretched a but further than the right.
He looked down at her finger as it touched his nose but refused to let his eyes cross. It was two fingers until it reached his lips, and then it fell out of focus as he kissed it. He could honestly say he had never been this sickly-sweet with someone he barely knew. It just spoke to Misha's magnetism or something. Aphrodite indeed.
"I could give you the wrong room, but that risks you finding some other, more attractive Chosen," he said with a little laugh. "I'm on the second floor. Ffffff..." His eyes rolled up as he thought: "--fourth from the end on the right, going up." What damage could it do? He was certain that Misha wasn't going to sneak in and murder him in his sleep. Maybe she would feel comfortable enough to seek him out if she needed someone.
"And what about you? Do I get to know where you live?" The tip of a canine could be seen briefly. As the sun set, their colors were slowly running out, but the white-grey rings around his pupils were still in stark contrast to the dark. 3,730

"Of course you do." Idly, almost as if she were unaware of doing it, Misha traced her finger over his chin and along his jawline. She cocked her head to one side. Her smile almost qualified as a smirk, though, and she knew exactly what she was doing. She was enjoying the company and storing away Brian's directions with the full intention of visiting him. "I'm on the first floor of the Aphrodite dorm at the end of the hall closest to the beach. For now, at least. I don't have a roommate yet so I suppose it could change." She drew her hand away from his face with some reluctance. The fading light made it hard to see details but she had already memorized Brian's face, complete with smile. She felt confident in letting her eyes drift over him and pick out enough details to fill in. "But I promise to tell you if and when it does. I need to make it easy if you ever need me for more sunset watching... Or whatever." The thought of "whatever" made her grin more. Before she could risk elaborating on it to see if she could get him to laugh again, a breeze drifted past, carrying the coolness of the water with it. She shivered and instinctively snuggled back into him. "Bleh. Sorry."
