Jan laughed hollowly. "I have three." he said. "You are perfectly welcome to any of them, if you could get through their mothers."

Shaking his head he didn't move from his spot on the bed. "If it comes my way, perhaps, but as of right now I'm worn out with relationships. Twenty years is a long time to spend on something Rodney and to ultimately have nothing to show for it but wrinkles."

"Well." he said. "If you were inclined to take advantage of such a possibility, in spite of my sheer exhaustion with relationships and their issues, I would be willing to entertain whatever you were interested in." He shrugged "Though you could likely do much better than me in various respects." Jan was used to being proud and arrogant and this particular admission of weakness was like much of the conversation starkly contrasted to the norm.

"As for why here, your guess is as good as mine. Perhaps just because it was near a mystical cave, perhaps someone living here had something secret or maybe it was just a random arbitrary thing. Either way, at the very least it is a hotel and there is somewhere that we can sleep."

Jan hadn't honestly expected Rodney to take him up on his offer and found that his vague statement being interpreted as something as real as a date was somewhat intimidating to him also. His first instinct was avoidance, to back out of the thing or at the very least make no further reference to it. After all, a date was a significant and serious thing, it was one thing to show off an attractive woman on one's arm but it meant something else to show off a man and he wasn't sure how that statement would sit with everything else.

Relationships with men belonged in quiet private places, bathhouses and bathrooms in his experience and the idea of dragging it out into the light of day was as absurd and wild as going into public dressed for bondage play.

Still, for the moment he couldn't afford to upset his only real ally in this chaos. "Good then." he said instead of everything else he was thinking. "But true that there is nowhere we can really go within this little hotel. Besides I like to make people feel special as best I can and dress the part. I am hardly suitable for anything right now, though if you think of something...certainly."

It was difficult to control the kneejerk desire to flee from this whole situation he now found himself in. He managed it only by nodding to Rodney's suggestions and saying as earnestly as he could manage that he'd like that. Internally he reassured himself that all of it would be much later and not something he needed concern himself with right now.

"Yes and there is no end of things to see in Europe, that much is for sure."

In museums and places of that ilk no one would be any the wiser what he was up to, everything would be fine, he was sure.

"Are you tired?" he asked carefully.

"There are towels." Jan said, a man who had very graciously left Rodney some towels in the bathroom. "But no robes. I don't think it's upscale enough for that."
