Sol had to cover his mouth with both hands to stifle a blooming gasp. Even though he turned to meet Ygraine's gaze his eyes kept flicking up to the window. It was worse than he thought! He knew Papa wasn't coming home, but now Baba was afraid they wouldn't forgive them?
And Isanna...
Sol turned around on his knees, and placed the palms of his hands against the side of the structure. He shook his head at Ygraine; there no way he was leaving now! If Papa had been in Oba this whole time with some lady named Isanna, then Sol wanted to know. Was it all made up? Had it all been a trick to make them thing Papa hadn't done anything wrong? And if it was, then why would Baba be worried about what happened to him?
Sol slowly rose, body pressed against the side of the building until he could just see over the edge of the window. They were...hugging? What in the Gods is going on?!
Completely engrossed in his parents concerns, Sol had neglected to hide his antennae, which would have been fully visible to anyone glancing out the window.

For a moment, for once blissful moment, Callum thought the sheer embrace alone of his partner would cause him to bawl. He felt the tears swell for that solitary blip in time, but instead of releasing they seemed to retreat. Instead of being consumed by sorrow Callum felt himself smiling, the true licks of a small grin pulling at his lips while Nimueh traced his body with kisses.
Callum wrapped his arms around Nimueh's waist and held on as tightly as he dared before releasing him just enough so that the younger man could breath. Nimueh may have relinquished his hold, but Callum didn't; nor would he for a long, long time if he had his way. Love.
Nimueh still loved him.
So much weight was released from Callum's shoulders that he nearly fell faint from it. His fingers ghosted down from his partner's waist to his hips, where they relaxed into a comfortable hold. "Then we'll just have to spend the rest of our lives making it up to them, won't we? Show them just how precious and loved they are? We'll never be able to forget what happened, but I'm more than ready to take my family home. " A flash of movement caught Callum's attention. Without moving his head completely away from Nimueh's hands, he turned just enough to catch sight of two little antennae. "I think," he whispered, just low enough for Nim to hear, "we're being watched."

For that long, tumultuous moment the two simply clung to one another; Nimueh hiding his face against Callum’s, while Callum gripped him bodily, arms circling his larger lover in a sweet, protective embrace. The Alkidike felt his muscles loosening, the long-drawn tension finally seeping from him with a shaking breath, and trembling smile. Just like that, whatever contrived arguments his guilt ridden mind might have cooked up fell away, and he simply let himself bask in Callum.
It still felt tentative, still wary in the back of his mind after what felt like forever. It was a brush of familiarity that he’d never thought he’d feel again, not since the tournament. And though the moment drew to a close, when Callum discovered their little eavesdroppers, Nimueh simply didn’t have the energy to truly react. He may have been alarmed, defensive, or even terrified if it had happened even a moment sooner, but not now. Now, after the explosion of emotion, he only wanted to hold on to Callum, and as long as he could hold that simply contact, Nimueh felt he could bare anything.
He hummed in comprehension, tilting his head to look over his shoulder, where Callum had spotted Sol, lip quirking into a small smile. Clearing his throat, Nimueh pulled back, but only enough to adjust himself so he was no longer crumpled and kneeling, but settled comfortably, cross-legged, next to Callum, drawing his love close so they sat hip to hip. He dragged the back of his arm over his tear-streaked face, took a slightly shaking breath, then knocked his knuckle against the wall of the house. “Okay, guys- come on in. We’re done.” He called, dropping his arm so he could curl it around the small of Callum’s back, holding him closer.

Ygraine’s eyes flashed, jaw tightening in disbelief. Her brother was… was ridiculous! But she couldn’t really fault him there; she wanted to know the truth too, but… but! What if they got in trouble? As Sol scooted closer, Ygraine pressed her lips together, but didn’t dare move, and reveal them. Sol wouldn’t forgive her if she blew it now.
Only-- they were caught anyway. She paled when baba suddenly knocked at the wall, then flinched when he called for them to come in.
At… at least he didn’t sound angry…? Biting her lip, Ygraine gently reached for Sol and took his hand, tugging him from the wall, waiting until he was ready before stepping with him back inside the small house, walking ahead of him so when they got to the room she stepped inside first, fighting back tears, standing guiltily infront of their sitting parents. “It… it was my idea. I wanted to listen-- s-so…”

With the adrenaline high fading from his system Callum was left with a pleasant sort of tiredness. Over the course of a few years he had grown wary of feeling like this around anyone, much less those who wanted to 'help' him. And yet, now that he was able to hold onto Nimueh as much as he wanted without fear of the younger man pulling away, Callum didn't share those worries. So many lingered at the edge of his mind ready to pounce, but this, for once, was not one of them.
He settled closer to his larger lover, nestling himself in the fold of his arm with one arm still wrapped about his waist and the other laid comfortably against Nimueh's thigh. Callum didn't bother wiping away his own tears, knowing well that whatever the kids had heard was likely ten times worse.
Gods, how had he ever thought they had grown? Standing before him now were frightened, tear stained children. Callum could physically see how they had aged, but in his heart he still saw their youth and vulnerability. "It's alright, Ygraine, we aren't mad. Come here, sweetling." Callum held his free arm out, inviting her into their circle.

Sol's antennae flicked when baba knocked on the wall, mirroring the boy who was now slipping down the wall as if he wasn't just caught. He flashed a look to his sister, little shoulders drooping with resignation. Baba didn't sound upset anymore, but what did that mean for them...?
He moved with Ygraine away from the outer wall and into the house, stepping behind her with careful apprehension. At least their parents were sitting next to each other - cuddling - and Ygraine-? Wait, but it wasn't her fault! Why was she-?
Words caught in his throat as he watched Papa pull her forward. He went with her, at first slow and uneasy, then all at once reaching for his baba like a lifeline.
His family wasn't perfect; not before, and definitely not now. However, seeing them all there - together - gave Sol hope for the future. He still wasn't sure who Isanna was or what had happened to Papa, but in that moment he didn't really care. He was a little boy who just wanted his family back, and right then, that's exactly what he had.
Sol just hoped he could keep them like this for a little while longer.
