Volga could see it in their eyes, they wanted more. Thankfully Feng had spoken up about the impossibility of getting any more information out of him. Than Nan looked about ready to try again.
Volga snorted. Though not at all annoyed at the comments. Not completely far from the truth. And that sharp rock had been thoroughly taken care of. *ahem*
"Now I know you will not be secure with my secrets."
He looked back to the horizon a moment before returning attention to the company.
"It is time we head back to camp. Feng, lead the way."

Feng couldn't help but laugh at the exchange. Poor nan, Volga would likely remain tight-lipped around her. That...or the warrior had just made an attempt at humor. Either way, it was priceless. He had a feeling that if it was the former, the Nan would just double her efforts in prying a nugget of dialogue out of the silent soldier just to show that she was up to the challenge. If it was the later then Volga had cracked a little bit of the wall that he had fortified around his emotions, letting out a little snippit of personality for the stranger to enjoy. Either way, she didn't seem like a bad sort. Volga at least seemed to think she could be trusted around him.
He wiped at his eye as Volga addressed him. Still smiling, he stood himself up and stretched out his back. Right. He'd taken enough time today- there were things that he needed to see to back at camp.
"Very well, master. Nan Ling?" He turned his back and nodded after his mentor. "I'll not leave a lady out here after dark. Why don't you join us? We're apparently as thirsty as you were."
Ling's head tilted to the remark. She had no intention of ever betraying anyone's trust. She blinked over at Volga for the moment, golden eyes scanning him briefly. "I would never reveal secrets, Tah Volga." she offered in a soft and pleasing tone. "I simply said that if you ever did talk, that I would let the young Tah know that you had. What you may have said would simply not be discussed." She let a soft smile cross her lips as a gentle purr rumbled from her chest.
The bells on her being gave the softest of chimes as she turned her attention to the young Tah as he was addressed. She glanced between the two of them a moment, her ears picking up the word 'master' in their exchange and she silently questioned it. Still, she was addressed, and finally rested her eyes on Feng.
What he said next warmed her heart. She smiled a bit more and her purr faintly rattled her bells. Admittedly, she'd begun to wonder if their intent was to simply lead her to the water and leave her to her own devices overnight. Not that she would have minded. She understood the necessity of protecting themselves. Especially now that she was made aware of darker forces at work in the world beyond their own little nook of the land.
Her head dipped gently in a respectful bow. "I would be honored to join you and Tah Volga, young Tah." she smiled and carefully rose to her paws to follow them.

Volga nodded. He would not be one to go against his young lord's request. If he wished for someone to come into camp than they would be welcome without much question. Much.
Volga was resolved to follow behind the line to keep an eye on everyone. Feng seemed to trust her, but Volga was still leery of anyone. After what happened to his best friend a seed of doubt was deeply rooted in his mind.

Feng chuckled and shook his head. "No need for formality. My name is Feng Huang. I'd much rather hear my name as your equal." He flicked his tail and passed by Volga, offering the older tah a playful bump of his shoulder.
It wouldn't kill the tah to smile, or at least soften his maw a little around a nan. She didn't seem to have a cruel bone in her body, and by the looks of her paws and dusty fur, she had gone through quite the ordeal. If they couldn't offer sancuary to their own kin, what good was their cause?
"Just follow behind me- I know the path well enough."

Ling dipped her head respectfully and nodded. "Feng Huang it is then." she smiled warmly and offered a gentle purr. "Simply Ling will do for me as well." she agreed, liking the idea of being considered an equal.
She turned, encouraging her aching paws to lift and shuffle after the cub, watching his paws and where they fell to follow in step behind him. He didn't have to tell her twice.
