Oh my god, everyone in my school thinks I am a satanist to, simply because I wear a pentacle (not a pentagram) and I give out tarot readings to my classmates and teachers.

Alternately, a pentacle is a pentagram in a circle.

Azana Brown One cannot pay too much heed to the fundamentalist Bible-thumpers. They hardly represent most Christians (there are nice ones, and even open-minded ones!), but we must pay attention to the fact that they do exist, and in large enough numbers to be of danger to Pagans. They are the ones who perpetuate the bad stereotypes of Witches and all who deviate from their uber-Christian ways. I can just see the scene in heaven... Jesus: For my sake! You fundamentalist guys are giving me a bad name!! I mean, seriously, some of these ideas they have are more far-fetched than most of our mythology and much of the Biblical events. Theres a site, www.truechristian.com , that denounces everything from The Wiggles to Count Chocula cereal. They even turn on Christians who use the ichthus (Jesus Fish) as a symbol. It's nuts. 8.) Myth: Pagans never really battled against Christians and the Christians slaughtered men, women, and children who were all innocent and peaceful.
Reality: Christians slaughtered pagan men, women, and children who were all Evil and Satanic for there Evilness of not being Christian.
and that makes them better than everybody else, how...? If I remember correctly, "Thou shalt not kill," is high on the Ten Commandments.
I don't have a problem with Christians in general, it's just the people of any religion that try to force their beliefs onto everybody else and act holier than thou. I wasn't aware that we all had to be clones of one another and believe the same things. rolleyes
The "fishy-smelling" womanly parts amused me, too. I thought that the fish represented the food that Jesus was said to have made in the Bible. He was often depicted with bread, wine, and fish, after all.. I am amazed that those people turned on their own "brothers and sisters in Christ." So much for "Love thy neighbor."
At least they recognize that a lot of the holidays we celebrate have Pagan origins, even if they do villify them.
Thanks for the site, Azana. I needed a good laugh to cheer me up. rofl
@Gyver - I thought that the pentacle was Wicca-oriented (the endless loop around the lines and circle), whereas the pentagram was more of a Satanism thing, or that the only difference was that one was drawn when the other was worn.
Edit - Just one more... 4.) Myth: Christians persecute Pagans.
Reality: Pagans persecute Christians. They don't allow us to burn them at the stake anymore since of Liberal Laws.
Despite them pridefully admitting to persecuting Pagans... And nevermind the fact that the Salem witch trials were fueled by greed for land and vengence.
I have great difficulty believing that this site is real. I can't believe that people think that way.. And I love how everything is "EVIL" and "SATANIC."

The world will believe what it will beleive and nothing we do will change that... alas, it is life.
You'll excuse me if I take a rather relaxed stance on this sort of thing, but stigma has never bothered me. Don't misunderstand me please, I've faced my fair share of it, it just dosent' bother me in any real sence.
If they don't want to understand they never will, so why bother worrieing about it?

@Mina Lilith - True, true... I've given up on my mother ever understanding my views. I know that she'll never accept that there are other ways of thinking, and that her way isn't the "right" way, necessarily... "Right" should be whatever feels right to you, as long as it's kept within sane boundaries and harms none.
I try not to care what people like truechristian.com firmly believe in all of their self-righteousness. The logical part of my brain says, "Whatever. They're not even worth a second thought." But then the emotional part is absolutely mortified and disgusted.

I mean sure I understand that there are those fundimentalists out there that could do real harm, but in a situation like the one posed on this thread they're just not aplicable. And in the sceam of things I'm sure that even the extreamists serve a purpose weather we understand that purpose or not...

I have been asked this question a few times as well. I'm not sure why--I was only wearing dark-colored clothing... sweatdrop People are so irritatingly ignorant these days... rolleyes
I think they accused me of being a Satanist because I'm an Atheist...which, no, I'm not a Satanist. I simply do not believe in a single all-powerful, all-knowing being. No. Sure, angels may exist, but it could be that they act together to be all-knowing, but there is no one single being that is all-powerful/knowing...*continues to mumble to herself about her beliefs*...

that's one of the reasons that society is going down the drain. they no longer accept things that can't be proven, and can't be seen. im opposed to saying someone is wrong. (unless they're trying to say that something is believe in is total nonsense)

I asked her the same thing back and she said "I don't need proof to believe in god" I said that i don't need proof to believe in the god and goddess then"

Rastawn I've been doing Tarot readings for just under 2 years now, but only recently has anyone said that too me, It was on the day when I first wore my pentacle, so now the fact I'm a wiccan is round my school and some of the prats are starting to piss me off with it Yeah, when I started wearing my pentacle in school, one of the people in my class noticed it and called me a satanist. I spent the rest of the lesson trying to convince her that Wiccans don't even believe in satan. I suppose it's only because people have always been told that witches are evil and sacrifice things and everything, that they assume all these things are true. And because it's what they've been brought up to believe, it's hard to reason with them.
