Kailani exhaled shakily, as she swallowed through a hitch in her throat. Wiping her face with her sleeve, she nodded slowly and pushed away slowly, coming to a stand. "I had a vision that Halon and his friends were going to set her car on fire.. so I came to try to stop them. I was too late to do anything about the fire and we started fighting again... then they started throwing rocks at me..." she explained, a deep frown on her face as she looked to the ground.

The elf sighed, "I see.... Do you feel safe enough to go home? Or do you want to stay at the station tonight?"

Kailani seemed to tense slightly, "I just want to go home..." she answered softly then looked to Moira and furrowed her brows in a sorrowful look.

The fire was out now and the angels were assessing the damage and the nymph was looking over the stone walls with slight interest. The elf frowned at Kailani then to Moira. "You two get some rest if you can, I don't think those kids will be coming to bother you again tonight.. We'll investigate the fire and if we find one of the kids guilty, you can press charges against them for destruction of your property.." the elf explained then paused before moving over to the three other true races.

Kailani looked to Moira. "...sorry.." was all she could manage before starting to walk off toward where her home was at the edge of town, she was silent as she kept her eyes on the ground.

Moira nodded, moving to stand after Kailani did as well, "I'll do that in the morning.." she said quickly before following after the elven girl, feeling a little bad as she felt it was her fault. "Hey, wait. I don't feel quite safe with you being alone, why don't you join me in my room at the Inn for the night?" she asked, motioning towards the inn that she had ended up destroying one of the windows to get out faster. Moira would have to pay for that later - would even have to tell the front desk - so she would still partially be in good standing with them. "I just -... I'm worried about you."

Kailani paused, turning to look at Moira with a look of surprise and confusion. She wasn't even sure why Moira would offer such a thing, it was such a foreign concept to her that anyone would worry about her. Only pity her and she was sure that would eventually stop as well as she got older. She seemed to debate on the matter, looking up to the hill in the distance where her house was. Sighing, she turned to Moira and walked back toward her, saying nothing, eyes averted to the ground as she nodded slowly.

Kailani followed Moira back to the inn as the older lady at the front desk who had been watching everything from the front window seemed very understanding over the matter and told Moira not to worry about the damage and gave her a difference room key so they could stay not only in an undamaged room, but also a room with two beds. The lady gave a passing glance of condolence and not even appearing to be phased by her apparent head injury as they moved. Kailani didn't say much as she entered the new room, immediately moving to throw down her bag onto the bed and entered the bathroom to wash the blood off of her face. After a few moments, she walked back into the room to sit on one of the beds. Kailani reached into her bag and opened a homemade container, putting some kind of paste on her wound before ripping the bottom of her dress to wrap it around her head to bandage the injury. She looked over to Moira then stared down at the bed.

Thankful that they gave her a new room, Moira watched the girl patch up her own wound and sighed softly. "To be honest, if I could, I would adopt you - if you wanted it." As she spoke, she turned to look at the curtains that covered the window of the room, bringing her right hand up to the stump of her left arm. "More so because you remind me of myself as well as a lot of people that I know. I know it may sound silly, but.." she let out a another sigh before taking in a breath, "I know it's hard to not give into the monster people expect you to be." Moira turned to look at Kailani again, a soft, sad smile on her lips, "More so when it's pretty much all they know you as.."

Kailani whipped her head to focus her pained gaze at Moira as she suggested adopting her. At this point, she couldn't even be for certain that she was even being serious, pitying her like everyone else, or whether she was being serious. She took a deep breath, pulling her knees up to her chest and wrapping her arms around her legs as she frowned. Was that even possible, would she ever be allowed to leave this place. Kailani wanted desperately to say yes, but she barely know Moira. Her words were echoing in her mind, playing her heart strings like a thousand year old song of despair and longing. Strings plucked so hard, they threatened to break. "It's always been like this... I've always been alone... called a monster and a witch and a technomancer.." she muttered quietly. "I don't know.... I just don't know..." she finally answered, exhaling deeply as she finally turned over and pulled the blankets up over her to lay down. "I hope you understand that I don't mean any disrespect, but I don't know you that well, I met you less than a day ago... I... appreciate your offer, but I'll have to decline..." she answered, pain in her voice as tears were building up again, glad that she was facing away from Moira by now so she could see her crying. "We can go to Treles in the morning..." she mumbled softly before slowly falling asleep.

By morning, Moira would wake to find that Kailani was gone, no longer in the room however her bed was made and her satchel was gone with her.

Moira listened to the girl talk, nodding a little bit as she understood why she was declining, though she hoped that maybe she could eventually get her to accept in the future. Not right away, sure, as that would take quite a feat, but perhaps eventually. "It'll still remain to be an offer, should you eventually wish to accept." she said quietly before laying down on her own bed, staring up at the ceiling. She had a lot to mull over in her head, one of the things being not the quest she was on, but the current state of affairs back at the base. She did leave quite abruptly, though left two notes, so hopefully everyone understood, but talking to Zaku about what had happened to the Jeep would be a task on it's own.

Maybe she would wait until she got back to drop that. Maybe.

As she laid there, Moira fell into an uneasy sleep, having not slept alone for the past week or so since she and Arno had returned to the base, so it was quite uncomfortable for her to be alone. Eventually falling asleep with the blanket wadded up so she could cuddle up to it, Moira woke the next morning to see that Kailani had left. Hoping that it was just to where the boat was, she took a quick shower, got dressed, grabbed what freebies she could for food, then headed off to where she had been lead to the boat the day prior.

Moira would arrive at the beach where the decent sized boat was located in the water, tied against the small dock. It appeared to have been repaired fairly well that you honestly couldn't tell there had been a hole in it in the first place unless you looked really closely. Kailani wasn't in sight down by the beach and honestly, it didn't look like anyone was out on the beach today. If Moira looked closely, she could barely see the island out in the distance, only a small mass of trees and a mountain on the horizon, much too far for anyone to try to swim to.

Feeling a kick off worry in her gut, Moira looked around the beach a little more before she started back towards town, intent on finding someone who could have seen the girl that morning. Maybe the front desk, "Kailani!" She called out as she headed back to town, making her way back to the inn as she did. Considering what she had seen last night, Moira didn't feel to great about the girl being on her own.

As Moira returned to the inn the younger girl at the front desk, someone who looked like the inn owner's older daughter. As the question of Kailani came up, she quirked an eyebrow curiously, "Kailani? You mean the healer.. Can't say I've seen her... Did you check her house up on the hill? She's usually holed up in there all day while the kids are in school. Were you looking for some healing or something? You'd probably be better off going to a different town. She really isn't anything like her parents.... but bless her heart, she tries." the elf woman sighed. "If you take the path towards the beach, you'll take the left path at the fork up the hill. You'll know you're on the right path, it's a pale blue house surrounded with red poppies. It's the only house up there. Can't miss it."

"No, no, I didn't need any healing, she was going to help me go to a nearby place--- wait, you....is she just the joke of the town to you guys?" Moira just stared at the front desk woman, frowning a bit, "Is that why no one really bothers with things like what happened last night? Is that why she's hated by practically all of this towns children?" as she asked, she put her hand down on the desk infront of her, the pity that the towns people had for Kailani was disgustingly thick and it was striking a cord with her. She didn't like it - more so when Kailani thought that the town needed her when apparently they didn't.

"Do you guys even care that she actually believes that you guys need her here when she's smart enough to work with some of the brightest minds I know, yet she stays here because she thinks that you guys need someone who can help be a healer - as small as it is?"

The elf's eyes widened slightly in surprise of the accusation. "That's not-... no... of course not.." she frowned the sighed. "I don't know, it's really a complicated situation you've walked into. I know you sympathize with her, but you don't know much of what's happened around here... The older adults just see her as joke I'll be honest and they just don't care about her at all. Most of them hope she either finally leaves or the she ends up dead." she spoke honestly, a frown on her face as she folded her arms. "The young adults, the ones that were recently out of school like myself and that muse over at the cafe.. we just pity her... but you know what, Kailani had many chances to leave after what happened to her parents and she chose to stay, so she doesn't have anyone to blame but herself. But the school kids.... they all hate her. What happened last night isn't the first time its happened and I seriously doubt it'll be the last. In the beginning, we did what we could to stop them from attacking her all the time, but she told us to stop interfering. Obviously, we kept trying and she just ended up hurting a lot of people." she paused, her eyes averting to the ground with a heavy sigh. "Kailani isn't even a healer... she's some kind of monster... She's a plague upon this village, and at this point, it's just become a natural order of things."

"If you don't like that answer, maybe you should consider shortening your stay here in Drisall." she retorted with a slight bluntness even if she was obivously scared of what the larger woman could do. "There was a time where she was an asset to this town... but after her parents.. she's been nothing but a burden. I'm sorry that you were roped into all this... but if you're here to go to Treles, then just go... and leave the rest of us alone. Because you're not the first person to enter this town thinking you can save Kailani. For whatever reason, she doesn't want to leave. This will be no different, so I hope you don't have your heart set on it." she advised with a genuine worried frown. "Personally, I hope Kailani finds her own reason to leave... she doesn't need these people or this village. They treat her horribly and I could never understand why she stayed despite it all... and let me tell you, I really doubt it's because she thinks we need her. I want her to get out of here because this place isn't safe for her. But I doubt that will ever happen."

"Even monsters need love. Sometimes they're the ones who need the most kindness, compassion, and love." Moira frowned, putting her hand on her hip, "and it may be a battle to get her to leave, but I will welcome her with open arms. She needs someone to care and love her, not pity her." she narrowed her eyes before turning quickly and heading back out to the fork in the road, this time going towards the house that was Kailani's.

The elven woman didn't have much to say in response to Moira's words, only giving a look of regret as she looked away and said nothing.

As Moira reached the fork in the road, heading up towards Kailani's house, Mauna was walking away from that direction, blinking as she caught sight of Moira. "Oh, mornin'!" she greeted with a wave as she had been in the middle of wiping her wet hands on a hankerchief. "Lookin' for Kailani, I pr'sume?" she asked with a courteous smile. "She's up by the graves writin' in her book." she informed, pointing a finger up to the top of the hill, just to the side of where the house could almost be seen before giving another wave and continuing on down the hill toward town as she checked her watch and quickened her pace a bit.

Upon the sight of the pale blue house which looked fairly old, there were thousands of red poppies that surrounded the area on the hill. To the side was a large field of the flowers with small engraved rocks. There were two large grave stones in the forefront of the small graveyard that Kailani was leaning against one of them, the stone used for the headstones were obviously damp despite the dry weather, as though they had been recently cleaned. She was sitting down in the poppies writing in the journal she had showed Moira the previous day, looking fairly deep in thought as she appeared to be talking to herself, though her words were not in a language that Moira would be able to understand.

Waving back, she smiled a bit and nodded, "Yeah, I was asking the Front Desk attendant at the inn if they had seen her..." Moira looked back towards the house, then back to Mauna, "Thanks. Oh - and your coffee is fantastic, by the way." she grinned wide before heading up the hill. As she reached the field of flowers, she stood just on the outside of it, clearly scared of trampling the flowers as they were beautiful and she figure that they meant a lot. Eventually, she tiptoed through the flowers to get to where Kailani was hunkered down, placing her hand on her hip with a small smile. "Heya kiddo, what's up?" she asked, looking down at the elf with a rather warm expression on her face.

Mauna nodded, "Yeah, she's always up there..." she commented then blushed lightly as her coffee was complimented. "Oh thankya... I really appreciate the compliment... Come by anytime ya like..." she bowed her head lightly with a smile before moving off.

As Moira got closer, she would notice that the wounds the girl had acquired the night before were completely gone as though ahead never even been hurt in the first place. The second thing she would notice was that each stone was carved by hand with a name and the two large ones she sat against had names as some dates, showing the date of death to have been only a few years ago. Kailani nibbled on the pen cap as she thought for a moment. She hadn't noticed Moira approach until she was fairly close, looking up to her as she spoke. "Oh, Moira!" she then paused looking at her watch. "Oh my gods, I didn't realize what time it was. I'm so sorry!" she exclaimed, picking up a red-stained damp cloth that she shoved into the backpack sitting next to her and put her journal and pen in her satchel. Pulling up her backpack to rest against her back, she smiled at Moira. "Ready to go to Treles?" she asked, looking fairly determined to go though a hint of sorrow in her eyes hidden deep down.
