Ouran High School Host Club Beta
My first series Beta! These Beta are based on the anime/manga series Ouran High School Host Club by Bisco Hatori. In an elite high school for the rich, a group of handsome young male students who have time on their hands spend it by offering their company and entertainment to young female students who also have an excess of time and money.
Fujioka Haruhi

Personality profile:
The main protagonist of the series. Mistaken for a boy because of her comely appearance at the beginning of the series, Haruhi was forced to serve the host club after accidentally breaking an extravagantly expensive vase. After discovering that she was actually fairly attractive, the host club cleaned her up (adding to her debt), presented her as their new "Natural-type" because of her seemingly natural potential to appeal to the customers. An incident leads to her true gender being revealed to the host club, but she continues to hide it from the customers for the sake of continuing to be a host in order to gradually pay off her debt. Unfortunately, Kyouya, the "Shadow King" of the host club and the manager of the club's finances, continually finds any number of ways to add to her debt.
In the host club, she is called Haru-chan by Hani (Honey) and Haruhi-kun by her customers, who believe her to be just as male as all the other host club members. Both her real father and Tamaki call her Daughter, although Tamaki's relationship is completely arbitrary.
Haruhi is logical and practical almost to a fault. The "commoner" of the group who gained admittance to the school by special scholarship, she regards the opulent lifestyle of the other host club members with some degree of disdain, since they seem to take their status in life for granted and have practically no understanding of or respect for the lifestyles of normal people. Her awareness of gender roles is very low, probably due to the influence of her okama (cross-dresser) father. She is almost completely oblivious to romance, to the degree that she interprets the signs of other people's romantic interest in her as friendliness, thus turning down suitors without even understanding their intent. Balancing out this lack of perception as well as her over-practicality is her ability to be open-minded and recognize unique ways of thinking which are different from her own.
Haruhi's hairstyle and slender build make her look just like a feminine boy to anyone at her school. Since she usually dresses comfortably without any particular regard to fashion, her wardrobe of loose shirts and pants don't seem to give away her gender at all. The only time anyone can tell she might not be a boy is when she wears feminine clothing, but even then, some people can't tell if she's cross-dressing or if she's really a girl.

Suou Tamaki

Personality profile:
The founder, president, and self-proclaimed "king" of the host club, though his authority is often overshadowed by Kyouya, the vice president.
Being the product of a love affair between his school superintendent father and a French woman, Tamaki's full name is actually René Tamaki Richard Grantaine (explained in the manga). In the host club, he is called Tama-chan by Hani (Honey) and Tamaki-sama by his customers. Both Hikaru and Kaoru call him "tono," referring back to their opinion of him as an "idiot lord" when he first asked them to join the host club. When associating with Haruhi, Tamaki refers to himself as "Daddy" as a reflection of the close-knit "family" he has formed from the host club. Practical as always, Haruhi calls him "senpai" (senior classman).
Tamaki is capricious to the point of ridiculousness, obsessed with the "commoner lifestlye" as portrayed on television. At the same time, Tamaki is very empathetic and susceptible to being moved with compassion, acting selflessly to aid others in achieving their dreams. Although he is extremely charming and gentlemanly to his customers at the host club, he is really only romantically interested in Haruhi but does not recognize or acknowledge this because of the familial facade he has created.

I honestly can't remember whether or not I had any rules in mind when I first got him. xD
Considering how his mother and father were separated on account of his grandmother, and considering how Haruhi's parents were very open as far as gender roles and such, I think neither Haruhi nor Tamaki would feel it was their place to dictate whom their offspring should or should not love. However, looking at how Tamaki behaved toward Haruhi while he was calling her "Daughter," I think Tamaki has a very great potential to be the doting, over-protective father type! xD I do think he would be more likely to be overprotective of his daughters than his sons, though... following stereotypical Japanese fathering and all.
SO um I guess the short version is boys go woo them princesses! Girls will have their suitors subject to Daddy-hazing! Life/love-mates preferred ('cause what parent doesn't want the best for their kids?), but not required. xP

Markings details: his body is the color of Tamaki's fins and his fins are more the color of Beary's fins; brown eyes, probably from Beary
Name details: no surname on this one, 'cause Beary hasn't got one. xD Kurakkuma's name is a pun on "crack" as in "crack breeding" and "kuma" as in "bear" in Japanese.
