Jalase - 6
Jalase blinked at the familiar voice, attention going from the girl at his side to the boy he’d been eyeing earlier. Raising and eyebrow, Jal couldn’t help but let a small smile curl up the corner of his lips. “I live in the city now, remember? Besides…” He paused and lifted his arms up and gestured at the crowd of people around them. “...looks like everyone else is here, yeah? Gotta be a good yaeli and fall in line.” He couldn’t help but give a small eyeroll at the comment, not in the least bit serious. “I was actually hoping to catch sight of my sister.” Jal gave Len a pointed look and continued. “Didn’t figure you for the type to be at these kinds of functions. Here to hear the priest’s grandiose words?”

Len || 6
Len’s nose wrinkled at ‘fall in line,’ and even if Jalase hadn’t meant it in seriousness, it looked as though he did sometimes. Her mouth was moving before she put in the thought to start it: “Bein’ a guard makes you look to be fair ‘in line’ most all the time anyhow, don’t see why you’d need t’—” When the subject of his sister came up, her dialogue skipped tracks, eyebrows perking up. “Oooiii, did ya then? See her, that is. And ehhhhhhy…”
She gave a terse shake of the head, quick and rippled like a dog ridding itself of excess waterlog.
“Not maybe so much as most of the folk here, I suppose. I was kinda more…” Her gaze flicked out to the crowd. She actually hadn’t yet taken what she’d come for. But that could wait. “Sight seein’, if ya will.”

Jalase - 7
“Bein’ a guard’s different,” he mumbled, crossing his arms over his chest and huffing. Following and upholding the law was one thing, believing some stupid wives tales was another. He relaxed a bit as the subject shifted to his sister and he shook his head. “No such luck. Though I’m not surprised. I haven’t seen her in a few years. Would have been nice to see her again. We...didn’t exactly part on good terms.” Truth was, he’d been thinking about things a lot lately and if he had a chance to do that day over, he would have gone about it completely differently. He had been an immature jerk, that much was true.
Jal paused for a moment, gaze trailing off into nothingness as he mulled over the past. Shaking his head, Jalase glanced back to Len and quirked another eyebrow. “We should get a drink together.”

Len || 7
“Well, you best find her one day before she dies, then, ey?” Len said, nudging her company with an elbow and only half joking. She paused, though, eyeing the other with mixed curiosity and skepticism at the invite. “Like, eh…fruit drink? There’s a place not far off from ‘ere, makes the best berry juice for stainin’ anything you don’t want lookin’ like my clothes after. Though I s’pose, since you do ‘live in the city’ now, you must know spots of your own. Could come along with you if y’re bored. And we can talk ‘bout your sister. She pretty like?”

Pajore: The Sanctum
With the priest's speech over, the yaeli people were allowed to end their pilgrimage to the Sanctum. Some chose to return home, their feeling of pleasing the gods satisfied and their bodies ready for relaxation. The majority though were ready for the feasting and festivities. There was drink and food for all those prepared to stick around, and warm beds at the inns waiting for paying souls to become too tired to continue on.
The people of Yael felt the blessing of Lurin upon them, and with their stress and worries temporarily smoothed away, they eventually settled into the dark night to begin their regular lives again in the morning.
