Seeing how nervous Jax was reassured Jade, and she cooled off quickly. She threw her two bags onto the bed to her right, presumably her's since the other was taken, and flopped onto her back next to them. Jade could feel Jax's eyes watching her from across the room, and she laughed under her breath.
"Have you gotten a chance to look around campus yet?" Jade asked to break the stillness in the air. "I mean, I was here last semester, but they may have finished construction in the library or something..." She sat up and fumbled with her bag, glancing up slowly to see Jax and measure her interest.
Jax seemed distracted, glancing out the window by her bed at the students passing by down below. Jade inhaled, awestruck as the slightest sliver of light slipped in through the window and illuminated half of her face. Jade blushed and looked away suddenly, hoping Jax hadn't noticed. Thump thump, thump thump. It was just a roommate, yet something inside of Jade stirred in anticipation.

Jax XXX

⊳ Her ears pricked up at the mention of the library. The smell of books relaxed Jax like nothing else. Before her family moved to the city they had a massive library, well massive to a six year old. Jax would spend all day in the window seat, snuggled into layers of pillows and pages. Occasionally her mother would call her outside to observe some strange bug or flower, but Jax didn't mind. In these days she was called Jack. She wore nothing but boys clothes and always put her hair in a pony tail. Her parents didn't mind the boys clothes: they were cheaper and mostly came from their eldest child Thomas.
"I got lost trying to find this room... I didn't really take much of the area in." She absently played with her septum piercing. "If you've been here before, would you mind showing me around?" Jax looked at Jade through an unruly curl, stood up, and felt strangely calm, like she could trust this blue queen. Blue queen. That's my name for you. She filed away that bit of information.
As she waited for a response, she twirled around to find her shoulder bag. Reaching inside she found her prize: mints. I'll offer some to her if she wants to show me around.

┏━━━━━━━━━┓XX Dr. Agnes WallaceXXXX
┗━━━━━━━━━┛XX
►Professor / Assertive yet gentle
► Dr. Agnes Wallace closed a medium-sized storage bin and placed it on the back of her bike. She prepared to ride towards Lotus. She was taking the Dean up on the offer of having a room, just in case she stayed late one night. It would probably happen a few times a month - she frequently got caught up in grading or experiments. And with her age, she wasn't sure she wanted to walk home in the dark.
The bin contained generic hygienic items, plain business clothes, a lamp, blank notebooks, an emergency bottle of wine, and a single photo frame. The photo was of Agnes and another woman, both in the 20s, laughing in front of a brick building covered with Wisteria vines.
Students were still moving in as the sun began to set. Agnes picked up her key and walked towards her room. She muttered quiet hellos to any students she made eye contact with. The room was lit by the setting sun. She opened the windows to let the dying light in and began setting out her things. This is real, and so soon. I really can not wait to meet my new students. I hope they all enjoy science... or at the very least have a general appreciation for it. Agnes finished setting her things out, turned to go, locked the door, and walked outside. Things were quieting down outside as she made her way to the gardens. Walking in mazes such as these always relaxed her. I need to calm my nerves before the storm this week. I can't let my past emotions cloud my work. Agnes' mind flashed to the lone frame.
Agnes quietly exited the maze, rode her bike home, and went to bed.

The sharp clank coming from Jax's bag intrigued Jade, but she didn't instigate. Instead, a smile spread across her face in childish amusement. To any regular person, the library would seem like a chore; but she could tell that Jax was just as eager to check it out. "Of course I can show you around," she laughed, and spun on her heels to exit the dorm room, "Let's check it out, shall we?"
As they left Petal Breeze Dormitory, Jade casually held onto her pockets and gestured towards buildings, facilities, and other academy accommodations while walking. "That's the tennis courts," she gestured to the left. "Oh and the track field, beware of that. Sometimes Old Man Waka likes to hang around and watch. I'm not sure if anyone else notices, but it's like he gets some kind of pleasure watching women in short shorts bouncing around and... oh wait, now all of that makes sense. He's the local pervert, if you will. But so long as I'm around, I won't let him get to you!"
She laughed and patted Jax on the shoulder in good humor, not realizing whether or not it was socially acceptable with someone she had just met. The thought struck her quickly and she froze; stopped walking, didn't move her arm from the awkward bent angle that it was in, just stood there with a blank expression. Her face turned a vibrant red and she turned away, pulling down her beanie to shield her eyes. Did she even notice? Was that okay? The thoughts blazed through her mind and she fought to maintain her cool as she quickly picked up the pace to reach the library.
After they passed by the Teacher's Lounge, the hallway opened up to a large entrance into Cattail Library. The walls were lined with books, articles, magazines, comics, archives and so forth from the ground up. Jade took a deep breath, the air stained with the smell of aged books with curling corners. It was a stiff stench, yet it filled her with renewed energy. The sun peeked in through the large windows on the other side of the room, catching some of the golden linings on the spines of books nearby. Home, Jade thought.

Jax XXX
⊳Student / Withdrawn
⊳ Wow, this place is wonderful. Jade was eagerly showing her around campus. Jax had accidentally tuned out what Jade had said and suddenly she felt a pat on her shoulder. It startled her but felt familiar, and she welcomed it.
They finally reached the library. Jax was in utter amazement at the sheer size of the place. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes, ahh, yes. The sweet comforting smell of stories untold. She excitedly looked at Jade, hoping to catch a glimpse of excitement as well. She did, or was it nostalgia? Anyway, it was a facial expression that Jax enjoyed. She reached out and touched Jade's arm, "Thank you for showing me this. I have a feeling I will be spending lots of time in here. Jax blushed as her hand brushed away from Jade's arm.
Jax merrily bounced into the depths of the library, touching random spines and "oohing" and "awwing" at books she found delightful. Eventually she decided on a book titled The Curious Lifestyle of a Gerenuk" by Edward Holt. She found the nearest siting area and gracefully collapsed into its arms. Between a page turn she glanced up at movement, I completely forgot about Jade!, thought Jax as she approached. She liked the way she walked, with an odd confidence that also seemed reserved.
Jade reminds me of someone from Woods Prep. But who? Just her general manner of speaking and kindness towards me. The girl doesn't even know me and she happily showed me the library. Maybe she's a big nerd like me... I don't know, but making friends is nice. I think I'm going to like it here. Hopefully this place will help me to forget about everything... Jax closed her book with a finger left to mark her place and placed it on her leg. It hit something in her pocket. Oh! The mints! "Would you like a mint, Jade? Jax extended her hand out. In the palm were two blue crystal mints. She smiled shyly.

Jade was swelling with happiness, gawking at the library's improvements over the summer and the brand new section that was added to the library specifically for fictional horror stories and mystery novels. She was in a world of her own until she felt the gentle touch of Jax's hand as she said her thanks. Evelyn nodded in quick succession and branched off to the new branch of the library with a sense of urgency.
She perused the aisles, the smell of aged pages from the rest of the library masked with the newly stained shelves. Her smile had faded and her head was fogged to the point that she read the back description for three books before she realized she hadn't remembered what they said. She closed a book and delicately put it back on the shelf, her arm still reaching out where the book was placed as she thought.
There's something about her, Jade thought to herself. A few people passed her by in the same aisle, yet she stood still. The hair, maybe? Did Michelle have that hairstyle? No, no... maybe it was the clothing? That can't be right. It's her general demeanor, her gentle persona. It's unlike anything else, yet it's so calming and feels like the home I never had.
She looked around, trying to compare her thoughts with the person in question, realizing that she had no idea where Jax had gone. She had to still be in the library, right? She walked around, glancing down the aisles for a familiar face, when she saw the back of her head as her nose was buried in a book. Jade smiled, her thoughts confirmed; a home away from home. She could get used to this.
When Jax offered her the mints, Jade took it with glee. "This means a lot to me," Jade smiled. "Y'know, you're not bad. Not bad at all." She glanced up to see a small commotion happening just outside the library entrance and pointed towards it. "Looks like they've got the annual Activity Fair set up and going. You want to check out the clubs?"

Jax XXX

⊳Jade pointed towards the Activity Fair. Jax swallowed a lump of anxiety in her throat. Groups of people were never her strong suit. Maybe it was the noise, maybe the strange bodies all brushing past. You need to get over your fears some day...
Jax started her sentence shakily, but it mellowed out quickly, "Sure, maybe I'll actually join a club at this school. At my last place I tried the chemistry club but Layli spilled some hydroflouric acid on my favorite jacket. Needless to say I'm not into the holes-in-clothes-look, so I left." Jax rolled her eyes, pushed a curl away from her nose, and unfolded her legs from the chair, all in one second. She then placed the book back on the shelf and began walking towards the crowd.
As they pushed the heavy wooden doors open, the din grew louder. Jax began to sweat nervously. "You can do this, Jax. It's just a crowd of people. You can do this." Jax looked back at Jade for reassurance and smiled sheepishly. She was glad that Jade seemed to be enjoying her company. It was refreshing to get along with one's roommate. Hopefully this newfound friendship would last beyond the first few weeks.
As they browsed the booths, nothing really stood out the Jax. At one point, Jax zoned out and lost track of Jade. Realizing this, and also realizing that any attempt to find her would end in failure, Jax stepped outside. She slowly made her way to the Main Pavilion. Small birds were chirping and fluttering about, almost like an animated movie. She released a heavy, content sigh. Everything is going to be better here.

💼 Prof. Waka 💼XXX
♢♢♢♢HISTORY PROFESSOR // PERVERTED OLD MAN
♢♢♢♢ Prof. Waka stood off to the side watching the mingling going on. He was not interested in social gatherings, but the meet and greet was something he felt required to attend. Being a new instructor and all, it would be best to make a good impression. It would only help him later if he was ever caught in an awkward situation by a member of the staff.
He twisted his hands in front of him and tried to keep his gaze on the faces of his peers and not the glorious student bodies. It wasn't an easy task, but he did his best. He was professional, and even managed to shake a few hands. Although he couldn't recall a single name.
Out of the corner of his eye he noticed a few new students entering. One had the most brilliant blue hair. How... Rebellious, he thought. The rebellious ones were always a hard fight, but well worth the effort. Prof. Waka made his way over to the girl and introduced himself. "Why hello there, I'm professor Waka. I'll be your history teacher. Welcome." He held out his hand for her to shake. It was all innocent enough, but all he could think about was whether she would be gentle and timid, or confident in her greeting.
For the second time today, Prof. Waka found himself thanking the gods above for bringing him to this school.

►..►..►.. Eri Looked into the library as he passed by. It looked busy. He quietly passed by and headed instead towards the exit. He needed air, not more people. His room mate seemed nice enough, so the was a plus. Eri left the school building and made his way around the grounds. He hadn't had a chance yet to do any touring so it seemed like a good idea.
The school really did have everything you could ask for. He stopped outside the gate around the outdoor pool and looked down at the clear water. He used to love swimming. Now it was just too risky. Maybe he'd invest in a good swimsuit that would hide his less than girly parts. He really did miss it.
Eri found his way to the main pavilion and took a seat on one of the railings. He looked out across the maze of hedges and whistled softly to himself. It might be a hard thing to keep his identity a secret, but at leas this experience would prepare him well.

Evie walked slowly, her head down, towards the library. She hoped she didn't look too stuck-up in her navy skirt and white button down. She'd always been a sucker for the professional look, and she really hoped to make a good impression. She pulled her socks up and wondered if she looked at stupid as she felt. She closed her eyes and turned toward the large building. She could hear the noise from outside. Evie took a deep breath and pushed her way through the door. She looked around and fell in love with the huge amount of books... but her heart was shattered when she saw all the people. She felt her body stiffen and her cheeks got red. Everything felt hot, and the sweater nestled in her arms suddenly seemed very unnecessary. Despite her fear, Evie felt herself take some small steps into the crowd of sweaty, warm, judgemental bodies.

Jade could sense the anxiety in Jax's stiff posture. She smiled reassuringly, not sure why she was tense. She looked across the semi-crowded hallway, seeing the various display booths set up for the clubs. She saw a friend manning the booth and waved at her, then turned to Jax. "There's the Book Club! Let's stop by. You don't have to join, of course, but it's a pretty chill place to hang out. People actually think around there," she joked. She winked and headed over, saying hello to the people there.
As she glanced at the displays around the Book Club's, nothing really caught her interest. Jade was caught off guard when a professor walked up to introduce himself and shake hands. She did a quick highfive in place of a handshake and scoffed. "Then I'll be seein' ya around," Jade said, raising an eyebrow.
She saw another student, one she hadn't seen before, shyly make an entrance to the hall from the library. Jade took the opportunity to escape the professor's anxious eyes. "A-ah, Jax! Look! Let's go introduce ourselves!" She pulled Jax awake in a bit of a scurry, leaving Professor Waka behind. Rebelling against professors was in her blood, but she wasn't quite ready to show her bad side to her new roommate; at least not yet.
Jade approached the girl dressed in navy and white, casually waving in her direction. "Hey, how are you?" she asked. Jade dared to glance back and see Professor Waka had gotten distracted enough not to be looking at them anymore. She let out a sigh of relief, and turned back to the girl.

"H-Hi." Evie said quietly, timidly approaching the blue-haired girl who'd waved at her. She blinked hard and took a quick breath, putting on a smile. "I'm fine, how are you?" she asked. "There sure are a lot of people here." her eyes wandered around the room, taking in all the people. Her eyes landed on the old professor across the room, and she looked down quickly. She'd heard what people said about that teacher. She tugged her skirt and blinked back tears. don't cry, you'll look like an idiot! why are you even crying? what's wrong? she thought. She squeezed her eyes shut again. She always blinked her eyes harder than normal when she was nervous, and she knew it. It was always a dead giveaway to others. Evie looked up and cleared her throat. "What's your name?" she asked.

The new girl was just as timid as she remembered being back years ago as a Freshman. Jade's eyes were wide back then, and full of hope; that had long since passed.
She could sense the tension and lightly tapped a knuckle to the girl's cheek in a slow, playful punch. Hanging around this lot was sure to make her lose her backbone, and she needed to lift the air a little. From the corner of her eye, she saw Professor Waka walk off and leave them be, and she turned back to the girl with renewed vigor.
"Great, now!" Jade replied seeing him off. She looked between Jax and the girl. "Name's Jade," she said. "Who are you? Have you already joined a club?"
Jade sidestepped and gestured widely towards the crowd behind her. "As you can see, we've got quite the selection," she said mockingly as if she were a street vendor.

Jax XXX
⊳Student / Withdrawn
⊳ Jax heard steps aproaching, crunching on the gravel. She quickly swiveled her head until her eyes landed on another student. Maybe they won't see me.... Jax shuffled her seat out of the plain sight of the intruder. I just wanted some alone time from the intense fair. Why is that so hard to ask for? She scratched her head, fluffed out her curls. Inhaled. Scratched again. Adjusted her socks. The intruder drew closer. I should say hi.
Jax suddenly stood up, and immediately regretted it. Her sudden movements seemed to startle the woman. Oh s**t, I should've coughed or something!
" H...hi, my name's Jax. I'm new here. I couldn't stand the noise in there.", she said with her arm extended towards the school. Jax stumbled forward, then backward, and actually fell over. "I'm so clumsy, please excuse me..."
Jax quickly ran in the direction she thought was her room.
